Return of the Cruising Bunny's....

Good morning Bunnies.
A smattering of rain around today. It’s just plain cool, damp and dreary.
I guess you need to know if there are any “reasonable” people interested in joining the HOA Karen. You don’t need idiots coming in and rewriting everything to suit themselves. How was the carrot cake?
I could say the turkey sandwich comes on bread Dave. But I’ll attach a picture instead. I think that they also have a “seasonal” version with cranberries and the such.

Image result for panera bread turkey sandwich

Oven-roasted turkey breast raised without antibiotics, emerald greens, vine-ripened tomatoes, red onions, mayo, spicy mustard, salt and pepper on Country Rustic Sourdough.
We are headed out to do groceries in a bit. The weather guessers we’re calling for overcast skies so I figured I’d get the back grass cut. See the smattering of rain statement, above.
I just plain smiled to see everyone using the same closing lines in one form or another. Just goes to show that nuts, like apples, don’t fall to far from this tree.
I’m getting the evil eye so it must be time to head to the grocery store.
You all be good and we’ll check in later. Just to be sure that you’re all being good.
And in closing, what Dave said. :p

Good morning! Chilly here this morning when I got up. It was in the 60s! That's sweater weather for us Floridians!! It will get up into the mid 80s this afternoon, so all is not lost. By Sunday we may get into the 50s. Now that's cold!!

Lee - There's only one problem with wanting a Panera turkey sandwich on Thanksgiving around here. Panera is closed as is most places. I was planning to do a half honey baked ham. That would leave lots of leftovers and a nice bone for pea soup. I checked prices for a honey baked ham and all I can say is forget about it! A half ham is $80-95 and a quarter one is $65. That's totally ridiculous and not going to happen here. They was another $28 for each of the sides too. Bet their business will definitely be down this wear at those prices. Now my choices are to either get a 5 lb canned ham or make a turkey breast with phony sides like stove top stuffing instead of my real sausage stuffing. This will be up for discussion at a later date.
I see that you popped in while I was typing. That sandwich looks good, but has too much stuff for me. I just like mayo and lettuce on toast. No frills and definitely no cranberry anything on my sandwich. I hate cranberries!

Karen - We have some newbies here that would like to start running things, but we have it in the rules that you have to own your own house and have lived here for at least a year to be on any committee. If you want to apply for chairman of a committee, you have to have lived here for at least 2 years. I hope that continues, especially on the major committees.

Dave - Remind me again the name of that company your daughter got the ice cream from. I might have to order some as a gift too. Have you ever heard of a company called "Baked by Melissa"? They make these beautiful bite sized cupcakes in some really neat varieties. Brian sent us some last Christmas and they were fantastic. We tried to stretch them out as long as possible, but after a few days, we couldn't stop eating them. They were that good.

Lee - So how did Day #3 go for your treatment? You're not glowing yet, are you?

Kathie - So did you get your nachos and big margarita last night? With all that cleaning you did yesterday, I hope you're not sore today.

Got a message from Nancy yesterday. I was concerned about all the rain they've been getting. She said they are OK in their area. She also said how much she still misses Tony and how much he loved our group and getting to meet everyone, except Dave, here a couple of years ago. I told her how much we miss Tony's sharp wit and sense of humor. It was nice messaging back and forth.

Got a call from Rita during the afternoon. She said she's feeling good and being kept busy.
She's looking forward to getting down to Florida after the holidays. Bill does the shopping for them just like Bert does our shopping. We ended up having to end the call , as Bill was calling her from the supermarket about something he was there to buy, I imagine.

Bill - Did you get the right stuff Rita wanted? I hope so!

Off to start another load of laundry. When M&J are off work, they tie up both machines daily. Today is our turn, so I better get with it.

Do what Dave's last line says to do! :smilehn:

Good evening....

Kathie, not like you to have not posted by now...hope you aren't still feeling tipsy from all those
Margarita's!

Lee, better a smattering of rain than a smacking...that might hurt....Carrot cake was delish...and the coffee with salted caramel Baileys wasn't half bad either...

Pat, those cupcakes sound yummy...I'll have to look that up online....Dave's ice cream was Jeni's....and from looking at the site it say's it's available at Publix..I will definitely have to look for it the next time I'm there!
In here about the only requirement to be on the board is you have t be an owner...

Dave, bummer about the ice cream treat almost at the end...so far which has been your favorite flavor? You should check out the website...they have some really exotic combinations! I just hope my brother enjoys his as much as you have....

Bill, sorry about your baseball team falling a little short...it's been a while since I've watched a Braves game...nice to see them in the series again...

Went to Jane's this morning & mowed her front yard for the last time this season....I'll have to trim every so often cause she has an oak tree that drops acorns which turn into saplings & would take over her whole front yard it I didn't keep them cut down....she made pillsbury cinnamon rolls for breakfast...I'm going to miss that...

Well...I may or may not be leaving the board this year...the lady who should be going off called me today & said that so far no one has filled out a resume & if I want to fill one out & stay on they would let me just do my 2 more years & go off...I told her if someone else wanted the job I was fine with it...but if no one does I'll stay as long as I don't have to stay 3 more years....so we shall see...the board has finally started making some changes to let people "individualize" there houses and I'd like to stick around & see what other changes we can accomplish...
Wash, Mask....Repeat....

Pat, you just had to go and mention “Canned Ham”
View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDUqmXPy0OE

The exception, I suspect, to cranberry would be the cranberry wine Harold uses to make his “Crazy Good”. I am always glowing after conversing with the lovely ladies in our hutch. ;) I often hope and wonder if Nancy ever pops on to see what we’re up to. Cupcakes you say. Hmmm.
Karen, where does Jane live? Just askin’ for a friend who likes cinnamon rolls. That’s neat that The Board is open to a two year term for you. I can see the HOA rules getting thicker as some individuals take individualization (what a great scrabble word) too far.
Nothing on the Windsor or Detroit news mentioning Kathie and margaritas.
Mixed bag on tap for tomorrow. Lu-Ann has a CT scan at 7:00. My zapping is at 8:30 so, that said, G’nite and we’ll see everyone tomorrow. With clean hands and masks!

Hi Wrabbits!
Sober as I can be! Ha ha. Had my fresh lemon Margarita and it hit the spot! I Ordered Enchiladas filled with grnd beef! They must have a new cook in the kitchen because they were fantastic! All in all it was yummy!

Karen: Sounds like you will be staying on the board a little longer. I don’t think you got too beat up so far. Well, except for that one lady complaining about her shrubs. Tony would tell you to hang in there!

Dave:
I didn’t have a Panera Turkey Sandwich. I had a Starbucks Turkey Sandwich with dressing and cranberries on it. I’ve been saving up my REWARD STARS so I can get a couple of those in November!

PAT:
How nice that you got to chit chat with Rita and that she’s doing so well these days. I laughed at Bill calling her from the store. I pass by men shopping in our store and they’re looking at a can or box and talking to someone at home! Cracks me up every time.

A older lady, well older than myself, today at our Kroger’s asked me if my knees were okay and if I could bend down and get her a can of Pumpkin for her way back on the shelf. I chuckled to myself and thought “ Lady I bet your knees are better than mine”. Ha ha. I did manage to bend down and get her the can of Pumpkin! Too funny.

Lee: Is 8:30 a.m. going to be your time for all the treatments? Hope Lu-Ann’s CT scan goes well for her.
I was wonder if Nancy would join in here if we extended a invite to her to join us? I just wouldn’t want her to feel obligated and I wouldn’t want her to be sad because Tony isn’t around on here anymore. You know what I mean??? It’s a hard call. What do you all think?

Bill: 5 to 1 ball game tonight with Houston ahead in the 6th inning. Interesting game so far.

Okay I have FUNNY story to tell you all about what “We” did on the way home from the dental specialist today! :D

By the way Art will be getting a lower useless Molar pulled next Monday morning. It could have been on Thursday (tomorrow) but he told them he has BIKING that day! Ha ha.
Just amazing what the 3-D Xray scans this specialist can show with her equipment. They even give you a copy on a fob to keep. “Like what am I going to do with it? Ha ha.

Nite all…..same as Dave, Karen, Pat, Lee said ….hands, masks, etc, etc, etc. You all know the drill.

Oh what a salesman you are, Lee. With that picture, both Kathi and I have been sold on that Panera turkey sandwich. But the first she'd do is take off those tomato slices and give them to me. She likes things like chili and spaghetti and other dishes that have tomatoes in them, just not slices of them. Can't say I've ever heard that "Canned Ham" song before.

BB; Although the name of that ice cream company is Jeni's, their site is just Jenis.com. I'm with you on 2 thumbs down for cranberries. Yuck in my book. Happy to hear that Rita is feeling good.

My favorite flavor of all the different ice creams remains that Honey Vanilla Bean, KC. I'd bet you are on that HOA board another 2 years.

K2....And your funny story is???

Here's one for you ladies; Yesterday Kathi tried to sign up for a mammogram, but they wouldn't let her get it till at least 6 weeks after the date when she got the Covid booster. We've never heard of that before.

Good morning from the parking lot at Windsor Regional Hospital, Ouelette Campus. I dropped Lu-Ann off and we decided a horsepiddle waiting area is not the best place for me. This completes the hospital trifecta this week. I have rehab (cardiac) at HDGH and my zapping is at The Met Campus.
Dave, I do hope that you both enjoy that sandwich if you get one. I looked up Jeni’s Ice Cream. Some really neat flavours!
Karen was spot on. Looks like it’s available at Publix. I can already hear them playing “Hail to the returning Vice President”.
I love the Starbucks Turkey Dinner Sandwich too Kathie. I try to grab at least one during the festive season. Now their ginger loaf…I can’t get enough of that treat!
OK. That’s about it from me and my fat fingers and little tiny phone keyboard. Back later!

So I decided to get up instead of just flopping around in bed any longer. What a SLEEPLESS night! I'm still wide awake at 6:53 a.m.

DAVE.... what the heck were you doing up at 4:23 a.m.?? Too bad I didn't get on this computer, we could have had a back and forth chat about Ice Cream Flavors. I like a good rich Pecan or Chocolate ice cream!
I heard something on the news the other day about women waiting 6 weeks to get their SMASHING (as Marcia use to call it). They never did say just WHY to wait.

Lee: You've gone way over the deep end by actually finding a song about "Canned Ham"! I had a taste of CANNED HAM when we were visiting Art's parents in Goderich, Ontario when we first got married! His Dad did a lot of the cooking and he opened this canned ham and it had all the jellied juice covering it. Well, that was my first and last time I tried canned ham. I guess you either like or not. Kind of the same with SPAM! :emoticon 0100 smile:

Geez, I was checking something on Google and LEE pops up on here. Have a good day LEE

Okay, back to my morning chatter! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

Since it's still early and I'm totally awake I'll post about what Art and I did on the "way home from the dental appt"! Feel free to SKIP over this anytime! LOL. It might only be funny to us.

So on the way home we were about to pass by one of the Monument Sales shops and I said we need to turn around and go ask some questions! Only a block past it and that's what we did.

Got inside and a very patient lady put up with all our questions about size of the stone, base, what kind of granite colors were available, etc, etc. She gave us a piece of paper and pen and directed us to a small semi-open room and gave us 3 books of styles of letters, pictures you can have put on the stone, suggestions, etc.
Well, we got to the little characters you could add that related to your lives. Think out of the box now..... dogs, cats, birds and YES Squirrels on a tree stump! Too funny. We both started to laugh. The nice lady came by and asked if we needed any help. We had to explain that Squirrels are something that bug me in our current backyard and I doubt I would want one on my stone! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile: Well, after about a hour of asking questions, getting sizes and colors, etc we took our sheet of paper and the nice lady said she would call us when she got a quote for the particular size of stone we wanted in a particular color. She said if we find anything that we wanted on the stone to bring it in and she would see if they could get a sketch made up to give to the fabricator company! Who knew there was this much involved in buying a monument!

So here comes the really funny part. I sent Jill a picture of the size of the stone and the color and the letters and she said it looked nice. I mentioned all the stuff I just wrote to you guys above.
She writes back later in the evening that on her walk with Ash & Eric the kids said we must get a Squirrel on the stone and a wooden spoon and cooking pot too, because that's what I always use at the door to scare the Squirrels away! They said Pops needed to put a BIKE by his name and a Mustang car, I needed to put a 'stand mixer' and a rolling pin. Jill said they laughed the entire time they were walking. They said putting all this on the stone would make them laugh when they came to pay their respects to us instead of being somber.
Now that I have written all this out it doesn't seem as funny as it was yesterday, but I must add that they are going to do a SKETCH OF HOW OUR STONE SHOULD LOOK AND GIVE IT TO US! Can't wait to see what they come up with! Mark is in New York on business and they want to make sure to include his thoughts too, so it might be a few days before we get to see this MASTER Piece! To be continued.........

This is too funny.... at 7:41 a.m. (this morning) I answered the phone and it was Calvin from the cemetery he was returning my call from yesterday telling me they don't put any bases in for monuments now until APRIL. I guess we don't need to rush around just yet! Talk about ESP! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile: He sure does start his job EARLY!

Okay, time to get a refill on my coffee. I'll be back later gang. Enjoy your day. And continue with the drill......masks, clean hands, sanitizer, etc.

Lee: Ha Ha.... And to think we just started this process. Just praying we'll still be around to finish and pay for this project! :girly:

Okay, I was just passing by the computer and had to check on you folks!

Good morning from WET Kiss-my-you-know-what Florida! It's going to be one of those type days with t-storms, severe t-storms, tornado watches and warnings. A really dun day, huh? We should get a break during the afternoon for a few hours before it starts all over again this evening. Oh well, we didn't really want to go to the Grille for dinner. Leftovers, here we come!!!

Kathie - I could have joined you for an early conversation too. I've been awake since around 5. Must gave heard Missy leaving for work. Just couldn't get back to sleep after that. Tush will be dragging big time today.
Your dinner sounded good. M&J insist that nowhere here knows how to make REAL Mexican food. It's basically all Tex/Mex style. Back in the days when we had the plaza, we had a Mexican grocery store in one of the units and he also cooked REAL Mexican. They don't use ground beef EVER, but use every other part of a steer. He actually would order a cow's head and use most parts of it. People used to line up waiting for his tacos which were awesome. Nothing like the way we make them. They only use some type of meat or fish, raw onions, cilantro, and lime juice on a doubled homemade taco. They were so good.
Your comments about men in the supermarket was so true. Luckily Bert doesn't own a cell phone or he'd be calling me more often too. He did once go to the service desk and use their phone to call me for something.
Don't knock canned hams. I stud it with cloves and then mix up mustard, brown sugar, & pineapple juice to smear all over the top. Then I put pineapple slices on top of it all. Makes for a very delicious Virginia ham. Spam we like sliced, fried and then placed on a roll with mayo, lettuce & tomato. A good quickie dinner!!
Nice that you're turning this monument designing into a whole family adventure! LOL

Lee - Once again you never cease to amaze us with the videos and songs you can find. I never heard of that one before. You educated all of us, for sure. I hope Lu-Ann's scan went well, your zap was short and sweet and your rehab goes successfully.
You're right, the only cranberries I like are the kind in the Crazy Good wine. Last time we were there they didn't have any made up, so the gal that worked for them just made 2 glasses for us. Bummer, as we just had one glass that didn't quite taste like it should have.

Dave - I definitely will be looking for that ice cream in Publix. They do have some delicious sounding ice creams, but if I have any chance of finding it at Publix, we'll have to go to one of the "up scale" ones. Ours is a smaller low level store, unfortunately.

Karen - You getting hit with the rains yet. Right now we're in a lull time. It will be returning soon. Nice that, if you stay on the board, they'll reduce the time for you. You must be making them all happy, except that one woman.

I don't remember where we were one day last week and someone asked me what my favorite comfort meal is and I told them - meatloaf, mashed potatoes with mushroom gravy, spinach and corn. Well, that was our dinner last night and everyone loved it. As soon as Nathan walked in the door he ran to the kitchen to ask what smelled so good. He ate plenty of it. Good news is that we still have a piece for me to make a sandwich from and the rest for dinner.

By the way, for inquiring minds, next Wednesday is Advent calendar day at Aldi's. Right from the simplest type to wine and cheese calendars! Get them while they're hot!!!

Once again it's pushing noontime, so I've rattled on long enough. You all know the drill. Nuff said!!:winkhn:

Good afternoon...

Pat, leave off the spinach & your comfort food meal sounds like one of mine too! We've had some rain & are under a tornado watch...but other than that not much going on weather wise...

Lee, your canned ham music video cracked me up...never ever heard of the song before! Hoping all medical tests & procedures go well for you & LuAnn today!

Dave, not taking that bet as you are probably right...."if" word get's out I've put in a resume most likely no one else will....people aren't that eager to get on the board in here...that's why I think I am going to wait until the last minute to turn mine in...if I find out someone else already has then I won't bother...

Guess I am in the minority here but I LOVE cranberries....I love a turkey sandwich on white bread with mayo & cranberry sauce!

Got suckered into being a fill in for Bunco tonite...it's not really my favorite activity but I did tell them I would sub...the last time they asked me I already had plans...so figured this time I better agree...I think after this I am just going to tell her I don't want to sub anymore cause it seems like every time she "needs" someone to fill in..

Tomorrow I get to have an insurance guy come & go over Medicare plans with me...I decided to switch from regular Medicare to an advantage plan for a few more benefits...biggest challenge is finding one my eye Dr. takes as I am NOT going to change eye doctors...
Time to go fix some lunch & then maybe read a little on the porch...

Kathie, you & Art are really getting into this whole pre-planning thing aren't you? Nice to know the family is involved & can bring a sense of humor to the planning...It really IS a comforting feeling to get everything settled ahead of time!!

BB: Your description of what you do to the "canned Ham" makes it easier to accept. My Father-in-law just sliced it after he took off the jellied stuff and put it on a plate for sandwiches for lunch. Maybe it's a Goderich, Ontario thing! LOL (just kidding Lee)

So it's 61 degrees here. Yippee. And what did I do most of the day. Baked Cheese and Apple Strudel to take to a few choir members who are under the weather. These will be PORCH DROP OFF's only! One of them was in the hospital with his COPD issues. I'm sure he had some breathing treatments and then they sent him home. We got word that he does feel a tad better now. That's a good thing.

Out of here. Dang it I wasted too much time cleaning the under part of my Microwave that hangs above the stove and now I'm going to hit traffic big time.
I had to do a big scrub and wash around that entire under part and wall because I could smell FISH odors from that wonderful Ocean Perch I made inside the house last week when it was raining.
TRUST me I will NEVER DO FISH in the house again. I don't care if we have to wait until Spring to have made out on the grill in foil. Perch is a yummy fish, but Ocean Perch is stronger than our local perch and my goodness it stunk up the entire house. I've had my candles and diffusers on all week. I think now that that hood fan/microwave has been scrubbed it will finally be gone.

Ha Ha.

By the way folks: I asked about how to do the count down clock and got a message back from one of the board people and he told me that BOB left and nobody could get a hold of him. Well, I just got another update... JUST NOW to explain it better: Here's what happened! So sad.
I guess I wasn't too clear. (It happens when you mix family and friends) Sorry to advise that a short while ago boB died. He was found at his recreation property after he failed to check it at home. I do not know anything else. He will certainly be missed. Not only here on the board but by so many friends he has made with his unique ways. Anyhow ..........
I'm giving JOhn a bit of leeway in time to straighten things up in the monitoring end of things. boB was the go to guy for John, So we await updates. Thanks for your understanding.

Kathie - That is so sad about boB. Always liked him, even back in the good old days when we were all posting here originally. I'm sure he will be missed by his family and coworkers. RIP boB.:(
Sorry to hear that your house stinks!! No one has ever complained in our house about the smell of fish, except me when Bert opens a can of sardines for lunch. I used to like them, but not any longer.

Karen - Sorry you don't like spinach. That is one of my favorite veggies right along with kale and beets. I just don't like Brussel sprouts and rutabagas. While I'm at it, I also don't like liver, kidneys, tongue, or other disgusting internal organs of various meat and fowl.

Bert managed to make it over to the new bagel place that just opened by us. Today was their first day to be open, but most people didn't know about the solf opening. But the word is out now, so they should get a lot of business. People here have been longing for a REAL NY bagel. Well now let's see if they support the place.

Time to relax and see what this rain is or isn't going to do for the rest of the night. We deliberately didn't go to BJ's as planned as it was raining. Got home and the rains stopped. Now we have something to do tomorrow!!

Not sure I'll make it back here an more tonight. Once the gang starts to roll in, the computer has to go away, so we can use the whole table. So I'll just say good night now and I'll see you tomorrow. :bigsmilehn:

Kathie, that is sad news to hear about boB....he seemed like a great guy....sorry your fish was still hanging around...that's another reason I like to do mine in foil in the oven...doesn't seem to smell up the house as much...

Pat, we've had some pretty heavy stuff come thru this afternoon...so much so I got a call they were cancelling Bunco for tonite...Yay....

I also got word I don't have to do a resume for the board...the lady who should have been coming off the board this year anyhow is going to talk to the president & tell him she will re-submit for her position & then everyone will be back on track as far as 3 yr terms...she was appointed before I was, but less than 3 yrs ago....luckily the president is one of those guys that as long as you have everything all figured out he goes along with most everything we suggest...it's when he has to do the thinking he's get's confused...now I need to figure out something for dinner because I didn't think I'd have time for a real meal with bunco...

I didn’t really know boB but what a shame. RIP sir.
Good night everyone.

Yay, 2 Pella guys showed up yesterday to fix the screen on our back sliding door that Fuzzbutt ran through. It's not your normal screen. You pull it out when you want to use it, and when done it'll roll back back into a panel. Which is why I couldn't figure out how to fix it. It was interesting that both guys were around the age of 50. I'm used to service guys being in their 20's and 30's.

That's it Lee, you're now making me wonder whether Panera's turkey sandwich is better than the one at Starbucks. In your opinion, which one is better?

Yes K2, you need a squirrel on your monument. BB you need a bottle of wine. KC, of course, a cat. Lee, a greyhound. I'd pick a hammock under a couple of palm trees. And Bill....a sketch of Tom Brady.
1f601.png

Looks like an all day rain for us.

Ya'll have a fun and safe Friday.

Good morning, gang! A bright sunny, low humidity day here for us with a high of only 80. Going down into the 60s tonight. Brrrrr :bigsmilehn:

Dave - You cracked me up with what you think everyone's monument should look like. But I really had to laugh at what you chose for Bill. That sounds like a neat kind of screen you have on the slider. I've never seen that before.

Karen - Our weather got better last night, but we still didn't go to the Grille. I know how heartbroken you must have been being they canceled Bunco. They did play it here too, but I never went. Come to think about it, I'm not sure they still play on a regular basis any longer. They do play Bingo twice a month. All you can win is a $10. gift card to the Grille.

Last night I happened to mention to Bert that I'd really like some Chinese food one of these days. Jimmy heard me and said then let's do Chinese tomorrow night. Everyone else agreed that would work. Only one problem and that is that I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT!!!!! How did that happen? I never volunteered to pay, but I guess being I was the one to bring it up, I get stuck with the bill. It's not too bad though. We're getting the family meal with 5 different main meals, plus soup and egg rolls. All for $45. plus tax. Last time everyone ordered individual meals it cost over $90, so this is really a bargain.

That's about all I've got for this morning. Bert actually got up early (I had to wake him up because the d*mn cat bit thru my oxygen line!) Once he had it fixed, he stay up. Now he wants to get that trip to BJ's over and done with to get it out of the way. Might think of a few more things we need before we go, so let me figure it out. I'll be back later to see what everyone is up to. :happyhn:
