Return of the Cruising Bunny's....

It's raining again...and has been since 5:30 this morning.
Pat, your low for the day is a few degrees higher than our high for the day! I suspect that Cappi is in the "dog house" again? I'd like Chinese food too. I mean, if you're payin'.
I have to say that the turkey sandwich at Panera is fresh made vs Starbucks which come in to their stores pre packaged Dave. They are both good but quite different. The Panera version is available year round and has no stuffing (dressing?) vs Starbucks which is seasonal but kind of like a turkey dinner on a bun without the potatoes and gravy. So Pella is sticking with experience in their repair department. That's neat! Your headstones were spot on! Only change I'd make is to put a stool at the Schooner Bar on yours.
Good plan to go to the President with a solution to the term of office problem Karen. When I was working my staff would come in and say "Boss, I have a problem". I'd tell them to go away and come back with a solution. They always did! Whenever you mention bunko I think of The Bunko Squad and Eddie.
Now fess up Kathie. You only baked Apple and Cheese strudel to help take the fishy smell out of your kitchen. There are lots of little restaurants around this area that offer "Fresh Perch" dinners when they are in season. Do you keep your grille on the deck all winter? We do and are able to use it on nicer days. Even I the middle of winter.
Just had a call from "VISA security department" to advise me that my card has been compromised. I let on that I was horrified and felt so violated. Without my VISA how will I get into the US this winter? They hung up. Oh, we don't have a Visa card...
Lu-Ann has choir practice in a few minutes and I'm going to go get my workout done. Heart surgeon is calling me around 13:00 for a six month follow up.
I hope that you are all doing well, keeping sanitized, distanced and laughing at things.

Okay let me start off with this!
Lu-Ann is in a CHOIR? When did this start up? Or was this a test to see if WE actually read your posts? :D

Like Lee said earlier….it’s raining around here AGAIN! At least Sunday (Halloween) is suppose to be DRY for the little kids.

Pat good choice and price on getting Chinese take-out for the family.
And I still can’t believe Bert goes through life without a Cell Phone. I still remember when I didn’t have one and Art surprised me with a FLIP-PHONE decades ago for a Christmas present. He bought it because he wanted me to have it in the car in case anything happened and I needed to call someone for help. There was NO Social media back then. (Imagine that) And I barely used the silly flip phone! Now a days it’s like the American Express Card advertisement
“DON’T LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT”. Ha ha.

Dave: That was rather quick service for your broken screen. :clap002: Now to keep Fuzz But from doing it again. Put a BIG “X” with Red Tape at his eye site level so he can see it. Or maybe “straight lines across the lower half of the screen. That is if it can still ROLL closed. MAYBE THAT JUST WON’t work!

Karen…. Did you survive the ugly weather they were reporting? I always like when on our weather stations they point out what the weather is like around our SOUTHERN BELLES areas!
Tomorrow is the HUGE HUGE Rivalry football game between the 2 Michigan Universities! And this year it’s at the best of the two’s home field..
MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY! GO GREEN!
We don’t have tickets to venture out to the game, but I will be making us some homemade Wing Dings and perhaps some Potato Skins sprinkled with bacon bits, cheese, chopped green onions or Jalapeños and sour cream for our HALF TIME TREAT!
Tony must be looking down and frowning with all this FOOD Chatter!

Okay, stick with the DRILL folks……Wash the hands, sanitize & Mask up!

READING INFORMATION! DELTA / COVID!
Just another good reason to wear a MASK when among people in stores and in close proximity .

Fully vaccinated people can pass on the Delta variant at home, including to other vaccinated people, a study finds - but unvaccinated people are still at most risk

  • Fully vaccinated people can catch and pass on the Delta variant at home, real-world data shows.
  • Vaccines largely protect against severe COVID-19 but don't stop it spreading entirely, the study authors said.
  • Experts urged people to get vaccinated, have boosters when eligible, and take extra precautions.
Fully vaccinated people can catch and pass on the highly infectious Delta variant at home, including to other vaccinated people - but unvaccinated people remain most at risk, real-world data shows.

A study, led by Imperial College London and published in Lancet Infectious Diseases on Thursday, identified 71 people who had caught COVID-19 caused by the Delta variant.
Out of these people's fully vaccinated household contacts, 25% caught COVID-19, compared to 38% of their unvaccinated household contacts, the study found.
Ajit Lalvani, chair in infectious diseases at Imperial College London, who co-led the study, said in a statement that vaccines were "not enough" to stop people getting infected with the Delta variant and spreading it at home. "This is likely to be the case for other indoor settings where people spend extended periods of time in close proximity," he said.
Dr. Anika Singanayagam, a researcher at Imperial College London who co-lead the study, said in a statement that it was "essential" for unvaccinated people, who remain at risk of severe illness, to get a COVID-19 shot. About three-quarters of people in the UK are fully vaccinated, official data shows.
Singanayagam said that fully vaccinated people become more susceptible to COVID-19 "within a few months" after the second vaccine dose. "So those offered a booster should get it promptly," she said.
Singanayagam added that the study provided "important insights" into why the Delta variant was "causing high COVID-19 case numbers around the world, even in countries with high vaccination rates."
"Continued public health and social measures to curb transmission thus remain important, even in vaccinated individuals," she said.
Peter Openshaw, professor of experimental medicine at Imperial College London, who wasn't involved in the research, said in a statement that the results show "you have a good chance of not getting infected if you're living with someone with COVID-19 and your chances are better if you have been recently double-vaccinated."
But, "if you want to avoid being infected you still need to do everything you can to avoid close contact, wear a mask and wash your hands even if you have been vaccinated," he said.
Dr. Simon Clarke, associate professor of cellular microbiology at University of Reading, said in a statement that vaccines "drive down" COVID-19 infections, but were "not a silver bullet."
"Infection in the wider community can still be amplified by transmission at home," he said. Clarke cautioned that it would be a "grave mistake" to assume that households were the only place where transmission occurs.
The researchers from Imperial College London, Manchester NHS Foundation Trust, and the UK Health Security Agency used the UK's central contact tracing system to identify 621 participants and tested them for COVID-19 regardless of symptoms with a lab test. Of the 621 participants, 163 had COVID-19, and 71 of these were caused by the Delta variant.
Of those infected with Delta, 54% were fully vaccinated, 32% were unvaccinated and 14% had received one vaccine dose, the study authors said.
They then looked at the number of people infected by the participants at home and the vaccination status of those that caught the virus. The study, funded by the National Institute for Health Research, ran between September 2020 to September 2021.

Checking in briefly from Lisa's house. Since Tuesday night's storm much of the area has been without power. Our new home has a generator so we actually have power and heat but no TV, internet or wi-fi. And the generator provides enough power for some lights, the refrigerator, microwave and garage door opener but not the stove or oven or some of the lamps. Lisa and Kevin got their power back within a day but this afternoon, crews were still out in our area and it could be several more hours or a day before we have everything restored. While I am here I will try to download a couple of books to read because most everything already on my kindle have been read.
More rain and wind is forecast for Saturday night so who knows If we will be right back where we were the past few days.
This will be our first Halloween at the new house so it will be interesting to see how many, if any, ghosts and hobgoblins arrive for trick or treat. It is also Lisa's birthday, so I suspect we will be celebrating with her for a bit.
Hope we get our internet back so that I can check in here from home.
In the meantime, don't lock your doors and turn out the lights so that you can keep all those Halloween treats for yourselves.

Back from our shopping trip and finally finished with lunch.

Kathie - Bert used to have a phone. it was a flip phone. Only problem was that he never charged it or took it with him. I finally canceled it. I do plan to get him another one though. It once again will be a flip phone. There's no way he would ever figure out how to use a smart phone. Heck, even showing him repeatedly how to take pictures using my phone, half the time he screws it up and doesn't get the picture. He only will get 6 numbers in his address book - our kids, my phone and the house phone. He doesn't call anyone anyway, so why load a lot more in that he'd never use? He'll figure out how to do something mechanical but electronica of today are things he doesn't do well with.
We have our big SEC rivalry game tomorrow GATORS vs georgia bulldogs. Just because they're the #1 college team in the country, we're still hopeful we can get them dawgs!

Lee - Weather people lied to us. It never made it as high as they said it would and at this time of the day temps start to drop. Good catch on that VISA scam caller.

Bill - Sorry about that weather you had that took your power with it. You don't realize how much you miss something until you can't use it. It can sit for weeks without being used, but to not have it then, makes you want to use it right then and there. I hope the power comes back soon. Bert's half way through reading the new Jack Reicher novel that he got yesterday from the library. It's bound to go back tomorrow or Sunday.

Time to head out to the lanai and water the plants. They're starting to look droopy! :)

Still raining. We took the pups to The Navy Yard and it wasn't too bad. The squirrels were glad to see us because with the rain most of the regular folks who feed them likely stayed in.
Choir is for Parkinson's Kathie. On Zoom of course. It is meant to help strengthen voices and help with speech. Problem being poor Lu-Ann its too advanced for the beginner group and they haven't seen fit to move her up. Then they will wonder where she went. I have decided that, after the health crap this past year something is eventually going to take me down but I'll be damned if living in fear of COVID is it!!! Lu-Ann and I will do our best to stay safe. Even if it ticks off friends when we distance and mask up around them.
I think that the weather you had Bill is from a west coast "weather bomb" as they called it that hit BC earlier in the week. That's British Columbia, not Boston College. ;) High winds, heavy rain and just a nightmare for the power companies. At least you have some degree power. Many out here don't.
Phones are funny Pat. I still regularly forget to take mine when we go for a walk. I think that a flip phone is a good idea for emergencies though. As long as it's charged and easy to use.
I had a call from my heart surgeon this afternoon. My six month follow up. She is a pleased as punch at how well I'm doing. She reiterated that I had MAJOR heart surgery so to read the reports from the cardiologists and rehab teams that describe how well I'm doing simply seems to amaze her. Butt issues aside!
Pesto covered baked salmon with sweet potatoes for dinner! Mmmm. Mmmm.
You all enjoy the rest of the day!

Back home and, mirabile dictu, we have full power, internet and TV.
Glad to hear you are getting such good reports from the doctors and rehab teams. I know how much they helped me after my heart surgery.
Saw my ENT doctor today and received a good review and don't need to see him again for another year. Good thing since it is difficult enough to find time to fit all my other medical appointments into my schedule. I was supposed to see my primary care for a 3 month follow up appointment yesterday but when I got to his building there was a woman out front intercepting folks to tell us that the building was closed and any appointments would have to be rescheduled. She seemed a bit concerned that I hadn't received a telephone call giving me this information, but I imagine I will hear from his office early next week to reschedule.

Night from Belleview....to much running around & stuff today I never made it on here....catch up with everyone tomorrow...glad to see everyone getting good reports from their Doctor's though...keep up the good work!

STILL raining here in PURE MICHIGAN. Geez, enough already Mother Nature. It’s suppose to stop in the earl morning. Sure hope so for that BIG MICHIGAN/MICHIGAN STATE football game!

BILL: Sorry to read about your power outage. You must have lucked out with a really BIG generator. Thank goodness! Is it a Generex brand? Those are big around here.
The person that selected what got hooked up to the generator must have said DON’T HOOK THE KITCHEN STOVE or OVEN. I don’t want to have to cook. :p Glad your Dr’s appt went well.

Atlanta put on a good Ballgame tonight and WON game #3. More to come!

KAREN THE FOLLOWING POST IS SOMETHING YOU SHOULD READ AND SHOE TO YOUR HOMEOWNERS BOARD.

Catch up with you good folks sometime Saturday!

ann richards don't talk GIF by Alamo Drafthouse
Karen read this. Make sure to read it all even though it’s long. Especially what the guy in the picture had to say.

KAREN THIS IS FOR YOU TO READ. WOW. MIGHT NEED TO SHOW IT TO YOUR HOMEOWNERS ASSOC BOARD MEMBERS! Tap below to open article. Then tap the tiny blue letters to open up the entire article. Sorry It had too many words in it to post on here.

Good Saturday morning, Bunnies! And begins a football weekend. College and NFL. Oh yea BB, The Browns will be beating the Steelers at 1 PM Sunday.
1f61b.png

Basing our choice on your recommendation Lee, when we do get a turkey sandwich it'll be from Paneras. Thanks for explaining Lu-Ann's choir.
"Your headstones were spot on! Only change I'd make is to put a stool at the Schooner Bar on yours." I agree. But since I'll be getting cremated I'll have them put it with me when that happens. (And that way I can take it with me.) We'll both be fried and crispy.

What is with that cat of yours BB, repeatedly chewing holes in your oxygen tubes? I too have a flip-phone. A Jitterbug. It's just an emergency phone for me. And only turned on when I go outside the house. I keep it always sitting on my wallet so I'm reminded to take it with me.

It looks like the Buckeyes will be beating the Spartan's on November 20th, K2. Time to start stocking up on Kleenex. There could be a run on them in Michigan. Speaking of shortages, there's a Gatorade shortage. Seems they are having trouble getting plastic bottles. The shelves were bare of Gatorade when we grocery shopped on Thursday.

Lucky you having a generator, Bill. Having heat and a working frig during a snow blizzard is a blessing.

Hi KC! How's that cold coming?

Yep, still raining. And dark!
Dave, is today Hallowe’en in your community or is it tomorrow or cancelled all together? Just make sure your Schooner Bar stool is wood not metal…
Rain adds a whole new dimension to sporting events like “The Battle of Michigan” Kathie. Enjoy the game.
Karen, PLEASE read that article, share it with the board, discuss it and get a report back to Kathie by the end of the day Monday. Hope you are indeed feeling better.
Nice to get home to electricity Bill. Now to reset all of the digital clocks in the house. Agreed about the positive impact follow up with and by doctors and the rehab people can have. It’s like getting a straight “A“ report card in school.
What if you taped the car keys to Bert’s phone Pat. Kinda like an extra large key fob?
I‘m making sourdough French Toast for Lu-Ann this morning. Then we’re off for her to the doctor’s to get her flu shot, walk the pups and see what the day brings from there.
You all know what to do when you go out! So, to quote Nike, “Just Do It”
Have a good one everybody.

Good morning! The plan is to post early so I don't get side tracked & lose the whole day again....

Kathie, I read the article but it really does not apply to our community for a number of reasons....the main one...we aren't Condo's....we have Villa's & Patio Homes & each owner is responsible for their own insurance...the only property the association insures is the clubhouse & liability for the common areas....also that place is located close to the coast & their requirements are going to be much higher than ours...

Lee, thanks for the explanation on LuAnn's choir practice...I too was wondering how in the world she found time to join a choir...
What time is breakfast?

Pat, that Chinese family pack sounds pretty good...maybe you shold have put a "tip" jar on the table for the family to contribute too...
Sorry to hear Cappi is still up to her old tricks...

Dave, the cold is coming...and that's the problem...every time I think it's going...it circles back around again...
Never been a fan of Gatorade, but isn't it a little odd they are having trouble getting plastic bottles for that...yet the shelves are full of Soda bottles, Orange Juice bottles & all kind of other plastic stuff? I remember last year it was hard to find canned corn...the clerks response...can't get metal cans...again...there were peas & beans on the shelf but no corn...

Bill, glad to hear everything is up & running again...amazing how attached we are to the internet these days...

Got signed up for my Medicare advantage plan yesterday...was able to find one with my Doctors in the network...the agent said if I have any problems I have until March to make changes..that's good to know...
Have to pick up a box of apples for Barb today...she signed up for that Apple Box truck...tried to get Jane & I to go in on it with her, but we said no thanks...no clue what she is going to do with 25 lbs of apples...she doesn't have a freezer & she doesn't bake...

Pretty sure I hear a 2nd cup of coffee calling me...time to get the day started...make it a GOOD one guys!

Coffee Truth GIF

I heard it too Karen!
Breakfast was good! I used the end of the Cinnamon Raisin Sourdough loaf from the new bakery in town.
Waiting with the pups for Lu-Ann to get her shot. And here she is!

Good LATE morning. Wow you folks sure have been chatty this morning. I love it!

First off….thank you Karen for the explanation regarding your condo and insurance. Glad you won’t have to deal with something like that big complex has going right now. So many things people need to investigate when going into condo type property buying. Thanks for reading the article.

Pat: Art said that you need to get Bert a Flip phone just in case he has a emergency while out on one of his grocery runs!
I wonder if those PRE-LOADED CELL PHONES you see in the grocery stores and Best Buy would be the way to go? You need to ask Gary about them. Just a suggestion.

Lee: That was really interesting info on Lu-Ann’s virtual choir practice. I should pass that idea onto our choir board! But I just couldn’t see our group of old farts being able to handle something like that. We have a hard enough time learning new songs for concerts IN PERSON!

Negc: Glad your power is back on. Art said you really are lucky to have that GENERATOR hooked up to your house. BIG BUCK ITEM!

It’s drizzling here on a steady basis. Suppose to end by the time the game starts. It’s only 50F at the stadium right now.
My crazy daughter & her hubby & kids got up to East Lansing at 7:00 am and she said they were in a traffic jam to get into the stadium area! She said they should have been there at 5:30 am yo avoid it. Crazy is all I can say.

Lee & Bill: Do happy to read that you two guys got good reports from your doctors. Keep up the good work.

I’ll be back later. Almost GAME TIME!

GO SPARTANS.. GO GREEN!

Good morning! Y'all sure have been a chatty group since I last checked in. Gave me lots to read this morning.

Bill - Glad you got power back on at home. I'll tell you a funny story about getting a generator ... When we first moved into this house, we had the electrician install a generator for us. After all the hurricanes that went through Florida the previous year, we figured it would be a good investment. That was over 16 years ago and we have never had to use it ever. (knock wood!) Good for you getting a good report from the doctor.

Lee - That goes for you too. Glad you got a good report from your doctor too especially when it involves your recovery from major surgery. Good for Lu-Ann getting her flu shot today. Have you gotten yours yet? Thanks for explaining about Lu-Ann having choir practice.

Kathie & Lee - Sorry about all that rain you're getting. Do you have your arks ready to float? We had rain last night and this morning for a while. It was so dark & grim this morning that I didn't want to get out of bed. It's actually cool out there right now - 66 and and this rate, I don't see it hitting the 76 they are calling for today. I would open up the slider and let some fresh air in, but it's got to get a bit warmer.

Karen - I'm curious too as to what your sister is going to do with all those apples. Maybe make a lot of apple sauce? Glad you got your Medicare plan worked out. Bert wants to leave ours as is. We have to pay for it, but we have no co-pays and never have to pay a bill beyond what insurance pays.

Kathie -I hope your rain lets up before the game today. What time is your game? Ours is on at 3:30 and it's played in Jacksonville, as that neutral territory. They have been tailgating there since yesterday afternoon. It's called the "world's largest cocktail party" and believe me, they aren't kidding. Bert surprised me with tickets one year and it was absolutely amazing to see how fans totally take over the area around the stadium.
I see you just posted. I'm going to get Bert a flip phone from Consumer Cellular like my phone is from. We can share everything - minutes, data, etc for about $40./month. I've been with them for years now and have always gotten good service from them.

Dave - Would you believe that I haven't even been following the Steelers this season and haven't seen a single game. I've pretty much lost interest this year with all our "guests" being here. I have to fight for TV time these days. I swear the show Sponge Bob Squarepants 24 hours a day! The kids can always find more episodes any time they get to watch the big TV. Otherwise, they go out on the lanai and watch Disney+ and all the other stuff Gary loaded to the Firestick thingie. So what was for breakfast today?

Seeing as how it is 11:56, I'm going to get off here before I have to wish you all a good afternoon. Have a great day, gang! :smilehn:

Pat, I swear that the “All SpongeBob All The Time” channel is just a click or two on the dial from the “All Big Bang Theory All The Time” channel. Yet they move Dave’s beloved programme to a pay channel!
I guess that we are lucky here to have good medical care. I can’t imagine what this year would have cost us for my misadventures alone! We’d be living in Pat’s garage behind Bert’s boxes. Or Kathie’s garage. Especially appealing as the floor has just been painted.
The only US college football game I have attended (so far) was in Ann Arbour many, many years ago. It was between Michigan and Michigan State. It was an amazing and unforgettable experience around the fall of 1977. 23 - 14 for The Wolverines at the half. Spartans had a great second quarter though.
To Kathie’s point, those Generac power units are crazy expensive here! I think I’d be keeping the kitchen, bathrooms and TV / internet connectivity powered up.
Time to get into something this afternoon. Don’t quite know what though…

This game is not going in MSU’s favor at all.
Every PLAY GETS REVIEWED! The Refs might as well be up in the box looking at the Broadcast on TV and then calling the plays. They players could pick up and move their own ball.
30 - 22 in the 4th. The other team is bound to win. Boo Hoo.
Making us a new Taco bowl dish for dinner. Hope it tastes good! I found some neat looking Taco oval bowls to stuff up w/goodies and then bake in oven.
Later gang. Go Green. Ha ha

Here’s what they look like empty!
MSU just got a touchdown.
30 - 30 w/ 2 of conversion. WOW. 12 mins to go. That’s a LOT of time in football! Heck 6 seconds is a long time! ABA1B27C-D271-4B05-8586-F5704FFC93A8.jpeg
