Darn you Lee. I now am experiencing a strong urge for strawberry shortcake with vanilla ice cream. Never even entered my mind until you posted that picture. Only problem is finding some place around here that offers a great one,
Received a reminder that may semi-annual checkup with the dermatologist is next Monday. Only problem is that it would possibly conflict with my PT session at the hospital, so a quick call to his office and I can now plan to see him on June 1st. Considering that most of the items on my calendar are related to various doctors,I'm a bit surprised that I haven't encountered any other scheduling conflicts.

NEGC: I think YOU could make up a Strawberry Shortcake at home. You could do this as a special treat for Rita for Mother's Day! :clap002: :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

1. Buy a quart of Strawberries at the grocery store.
2. Buy some of those round Strawberry sponge-cake looking shortcakes in a pkg.
If you can't find them on your own just ask a clerk where they have them.
3. Buy some Vanilla Ice Cream and Whip Cream in a can!
4. Wash and clean the strawberries. Like take off the
GREEN STEM and slice them up in a bowl.
5. Add some SUGAR and let them sit on the counter to make some
yummy JUICE!
6. Now put one of the Shortcakes or two if you want more in a nice size cereal type bowl.
7. Add a scoop of Ice Cream. (You can actually skip this part if you don't like ice cream.)
8. Add LOTS of the sliced Strawberries and Juice.

9. Sit down on your patio or deck or wherever you feel comfortable and ENJOY this in your own house.
This should take you about 12-15 mins once you get home from the grocery store with the supplies!

ENJOY!

Thanks for the suggestion, K2. Only problem I have with your recipe is substituting those sponge cakes for a real biscuit. The result is okay but not as good as what I would consider an excellent strawberry shortcake. It did bring back memories of the worst one I had many years ago. We were at Disney World with our kids when they were little and we went to the
Hoopy Do Review. For dessert, we ordered what the menu called a strawberry shortcake but when it arrived it turned out that instead of real strawberries they substituted Smucker's strawberry jam. Perhaps my only bad memory from any of our visits to "the happiest place on Earth".

Good evening.

Got a call from the Podiatrist and have an appt for next week. Weird thing is his last name is the same as my PC. Tomorrow I will go on his website to fill out the forms.

Pat, The Strawberry
Festival really need to move, the land they are on is too small anymore for the crowds. We went a number of years ago and it was so crowded and I know that now it is more so. A number of years ago we went to a corn festival in Zellwood and it was fun.

For my lunch today I air fried a piece of Salmon and it came out great, so guess the air fryer part of the toaster oven works fine. And for dinner I used the bake for the piece of chicken and it came out real good.

All have a good night.

NEGC: I actually NEVER buy those Sponge Cakes! Way too sweet.
I was just trying to make things easier for YOU. Ha Ha.
I make my shortcakes out of Bisquick or my Scone recipe.
I still think you could manage making this dessert! :clap002:

And I think I would have had to SEND the Disney Strawberry dessert back. JAM used on a shortcake would be GROSS!

Good Night LEE!
Good Night ALL.

I apologize K2, Lee, and Bill. Apologize for what? For any blizzard that hits you or me in the next few days. After never leaving the garage all winter, yesterday I fired up the snow-blower and let it run for 5 minutes to make sure everything was OK, before it was put back in our shed for the summer.

K2; I for one enjoyed seeing the pictures of that sailboat being "encouraged" off the beach. It looks better now afloat in the water.

BB; Yes, I remember the TV shows Sea Hunt, I Spy. And I saw a lot of Tarzan movies. (Johnny Weissmuller was the best Tarzan.)

Back then I thought all movies and TV shows came out of Hollywood.

So how's your hunt going Bill for some good strawberry shortcake with ice cream? You'll be glad you went on the hunt when you find a local restaurant that has it.

After being found responsible for sexual assault yesterday by a jury, should we have a pity-party for the Buffoon? NO FRIGGIN WAY! We always knew he was a crook and a pervert. I'm just sad that it's only going to cost him 5 million dollars.

A beautiful start to the day here in The Burg. Lu-Ann has to go to the dentist for her checkup so Ava and I will pop over to The Navy Yard for a walk and to feed the squirrels on her behalf.
So help me Dave, if it snows I will drive to Massillon and slap you up the side of your head! Well, no, not really. As a kid I always thought that everything on TV came out of Hollywood too. Except local kids shows.
Best ever Tarzan yell? Carol Burnett.
Wow Pat, you really tossed some oldies but goodies into the ring with some of those shows and stars! Do you and Bert think that you could ever adapt to life away in another state from your beautiful home and community?
Our local strawberries should be in markets here in the next couple of weeks. They are available (we are the southern most point in Canada) about 3 - 4 weeks before they are available in and around Toronto. That’s how much earlier the growing season gets going down here.
And this, just because I think he’s very funny.

Now, if he doesn’t bring a smile to your faces, well, bless your hearts.
Have a great day folks.

Good morning. No plans for today. I will fill out the forms for the Podiatrist.

Dave, I was sure that she would win over trump but now for her to collect the money. He will do what ever to keep from having to pay her, and of course if his lawyers did not get paid up front they have to get money from him.

All have a great day.

Good morning! Starting the day off with Tarzan yells and Henry Cho, what more could you ask for?

Bill - My gang prefers that we start with a slice of Sara Lee Pound cake and building the strawberry shortcake on top of that. They don't like dry biscuits underneath. Around here, I have to keep the masses happy.

Dave - You're probably pushing your luck putting the snow blower away already. After all, it is only the middle of May! LOL

Lee - I hope Lu-Ann has a good checkup at the dentist. Truthfully, at this stage of my life, I would not be looking forward to making a major move from right here. Our biggest problem is that insurance costs are killing us. Our a--hole governor called a special session of the legislature some months ago to deal with the insurance issue. By the time the session was over, he had given insurance companies more leverage to keep raising rates and limiting people's ability to sue them. So much for helping Floridians while campaigning for president (God help us!!!)
Bert wouldn't mind checking out the area in Alabama that M&J are interested in, but I think it would be a waste of time. Now over where G&E are, there's a host of things to see and do, but I don't see a move in that direction either. It's just too expensive to buy anything there. So looks like I'm stuck right where I want to be - HERE!!!
Maybe tomorrow or Friday, depending on the weather we might just make one last trip to True Blue Winery before they close for the season next week. One last glass of Crazy Good to see us through the summer months until next October when they open once again.

Got the guy from my nighttime breathing device coming today to check the system out. It's a monthly check he does. I already told him that I can't use the machine right now due to this life vest and he is going to make note of that so that the insurance company doesn't stop paying for the device and it gets hauled out of here.

Then this evening, we are meeting Missy, Wesley and some friends at the Grille for music bingo. This is so much fun that Missy is even taking an hour off from work so she can be there too for it.

And that kind of sums up my day. Anyone got anything interesting going on today?

All I can say Pat is please have a glass of crazy good for Lu-Ann and I (that would be two glasses) and say hi to Fatima and Howard for us. Good Lord willin’ and the crick don’t rise we’ll see them in January.
Dentist says Lu-Ann needs a crown replaced. So, thanks on the to do list.
What, he asked, is music bingo?
”Fun with Forms”. Sounds like a good way to spend an afternoon Nancy.
I got our little ornamental tree reshaped. If you don’t keep on top of it it winds up just being a tree. We had a Momma Bird build a nest and raise a family so we were waiting until there were no signs of babies before we trimmed it.
I managed to get some of the spots filled where the brad nailer left marks in the trim. Then paint and just like that the job is done. Some day.
Is that coffee I hear calling me? Listen…yep, it is.
Have a great day everyone.

Lee - This is how music bingo works: You have a 4x4 grid. Each box of the grid has a song title in it covering oldies, new material, country, etc. The man who runs this then plays a clip of a song and if you have it on your grid, you circle it. The title of the song gets posted on his screen, as no one knows all the songs. You win just like with a bingo. The fun part is that you get to sing along with the clip being played, if you know the song. Best one is "Sweet Caroline". Man, does that ever fill the Grille with song!! This bingo night is so popular that you have to have a reservation as they fill every seat in the place. So now you can sleep tonight knowing what music bingo is.
Sorry about Lu-Ann needing s new crown.
We will definitely say hello to Fatima & Howard for you, as well as have a glass of Crazy Good in your honor!

Apology accepted Dave. Any snow that comes our way as a result of your activating your snow blower, will quickly melt because of the high temperatures we will be experiencing over the next several days.
We began a 15 week cribbage tourney last night with a much smaller group of players (4 two player teams) due to our dissatisfaction with the way last year's contest were run. It was being held in the lounge of a bowling alley several miles from where we now live and the fellow who ran it not only screwed up the scores on at least two occasions but decided that part of the weekly amount that each team paid would be charged as rent for use of his lounge. He failed to take into account that he was getting revenue from the drinks and food that the players were ordering while they played and there was no crowd of customers waiting for the tables that were occupied by those players, so he wasn't losing any business. The site for this year's tourney is our clubhouse so travel time is much, much less and two of the other players also live here. We won 5 points (one win and one skunk) while the team we played took 6 points (three wins) which I thought was a fairly good start since we hadn't played cribbage since last year's tournament ended.

Thanks for the explanation Pat. It sure does sound like fun! Sweet Caroline is a fav at Paglione Winery pizza and sing along nights here.
So typical Bill. A not busy place gets a crowd, sells more food and beverages than they would on any other night and they feel the need to make a cash grab of some of the entry fees. I have to ask, tongue in cheek, how’d that work for them?
Nancy’s mention of salmon had us go out and pick up a couple of nice filets. I’m gonna try them in our air fryer too.
Have a wonderful evening everyone.

Good QUICK Morning Wrabbits!

WOW.... you all were CHATTY yesterday.

Dave: All I can say is if it snows up here I'll be hitching a ride with LEE and SLAP YOU AROUND A TAD MYSELF. :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:
It's suppose to get into the 80's TODAY! And then by Sunday it will be a down to 67F . Crazy Michigan weather.

It's a busy week over here. Jill/Mark Anniv, Ashley's B-Day, Mother's Day coming up too. Running around getting gifts and planning Mother's Day Lunch over here at our house. The kids thought it would be a great day to put up the AWNING. I asked if that would take away from Jill having a SPECIAL "Mother's Day" of them all waiting hand and foot on her and she said NO WAY! She's like me in not wanting to go out to eat on Mother's Day! We've done that in past years. And now that most restaurants don't have a full staff because NOBODY SEEMS TO WANT TO WORK SINCE COVID it would be really crazy that day. Bless all of you that still go out to eat on Mother's Day!

KAREN: TIME FOR YOU TO STOP BY AND LET US KNOW YOU DIDN'T FALL OFF A LADDER GIRL!! Hope all is good with you and your sisters and the kitties. Miss you.

BB: I just couldn't imagine you following M&J on their quest to find a less expensive place to live. ALABAMA would be the LAST PLACE I would think of moving too. That's Trump country just as bad as Florida! Ha Ha. Stay where you are girl. Enjoy the view of the lake and take life one day at a time. And please have a glass or two of Crazy GOOD for Art and myself. Hard to believe it's already time to close up True Blue again for the season. Enjoy!
BB: Thanks for the heads up on the POUND CAKE for the Strawberry Shortcake. I forgot all about using that instead of making the Bisquick shortcakes. That'll save a lot of time.

Negc: Good for you and your group for finding a better place to play Cribbage! And it's nice that it's close to home. Hope you win big this time around.

Lee: Bummer on Lu-Ann having to get a crown replacement. $$$$ ALWAYS SOMETHING!
Good to know you and Ava got to the Park for a walk. It's going to be a great day for that today and tomorrow! Hope you get to see some freighters pass by. We're overdue for a trip to Port Huron to see some freighters and have a picnic box lunch by the water. Love doing that. I still want to travel to your A'Burg area and see Navy Park and you guys one day soon.

Okay, I'm out of here. Have lots of TO DO things to tie up around here.
Monday I get the Eye Lid
Eyes Blinking GIF
surgery done, and I know I'll be out of commission for awhile! Always Something! :emoticon 0122 itwasntme:

Later gang. Enjoy your day.

Good morning, everyone!

Had fun last night at music bingo. We didn't win, but were able to sing a lot when we all knew the songs.

Not a lot to talk about this morning, so be happy you don't have to read one of my mini book posts!!

Have a good day and I'll stop by later if I have anything exciting to say. ;)

Music Bingo, or "Singo" as they call it at a local family restaurant was very popular with our neighbors in the condo where we lived previously and is a regular Thursday night feature there.
Winnings won't be that big with only 4 teams participating, K2, but we are long time friends with all of the participants and it will be a good night out for the next few months. Don't know if the lounge will suffer any serious consequences from our decision not to participate. I don't know if any others have made a similar decision not to play there or even if there are new players who will take our plan. Only time will tell.
Nothing special planned for today so we will probably just enjoy the warm weather. Hope everyone else is experiencing this stretch of good weather.
I'd be interested to know what Missy and Jimmy find attractive about Alabama besides it possibly being a less expensive place to live. Can't say that it's a state that has ever entered my mind as a possible place to spend my golden years.

Good afternoon. Had an early appt for PT then I had to get gas at BJ's and a few things at Aldi's. By the time I got home and the car unloaded it was lunch time. Have now finished lunch and washed most of the dishes.

Did not get a good night's sleep. Just as I was falling asleep my neck said no your not going to sleep, from the middle of the back to almost the middle of the front around the right side hurt so bad. I put some of the gel on and it too over an hour before it stopped hurting enough to get to sleep. And actually PT and the very good message did help a lot.

All have a great day.
