Return of the Cruising Bunny's....

Happy Saturday, y'all! Here it is shortly before 10 and no one else is up. I hear them going to the bathroom, but then head back to bed. Bunch of slackers is all I can say.

Bright sun with a slight breeze here in our neck of the woods. It's still chilly, but will warm up nicely for M&J's crawfish boil. I hope FedEx delivers them early, as I am already tasting them!

Kathie - I hope the snow changed its mind and didn't come to visit you. Sounds like someone forgot to tell Mother Nature that it is spring! Glad you're doing well with that heart monitor. Keep up the good work!

Nancy - Bert's mother used to be really into NASCAR. She was a Jeff Gordon fan and would never miss a race. She even wore a Jeff Gordon t-shirt on race day! Actually the only reason she watched the races was to see the crashes, but then again, isn't that why most people watch those cars going around and around for hours? As a kid my parents used to take us to demolition derbies. That was fun and the whole purpose was to crash cars.

Dave - What a neat project for that young man to work on. Smart thinking on Kathi's part to make and paint the birdhouses and then bring them to Danbury. I'm sure the residents will enjoy looking at them, especially if someone moves into them. How's Franklin coming along? Did you get some new paint colors to continue that project?

Lee - I dipped the shrimp in egg and then tossed them in cracker meal before frying them in olive oil. I know that's probably a no-no for me, but just couldn't resist. I only ate 5 shrimp on the sandwich, so I don't think that was too bad. Everyone else loved the sandwiches, except Elaine's youngest son who refuses to eat seafood. He had tacos leftover from the other night. Aside from all the other fears kids have going to bed, you forgot the monster that lives in the closet. That's the one that always kept me awake waiting for it to jump out. Glad I finally got over that one. LOL

Karen - You might have a good idea there stopping at the DIY place to look for someone. You definitely are not having much luck finding a reliable person to do the work. Good luck this time.

The first warm body just showed up, so I guess I should get off here for a while and visit with them. Have a great day everyone. I hope you all have something for planned for the day!

Good ALMOST afternoon Wrabbits! Well, we got more snow earlier and right now it stopped and you would NEVER know we got any snow at all. Looks wet everywhere. That's the kind of SNOW we get in March & even April. But it is COLD outside. 36F! Brrrr

Dave: Kudo's to Kathi for her idea for the Bird Houses. Nice project for the youngster.

BB: I guess Olive oil is better than some of the other oils, but FRYING in general isn't the best for any of us. Glad the sandwiches turned out yummy.
Where are the Crawfish coming from that Fed-X is delivering them to M & J's?
Hope somebody takes a picture of the table full of all the "BOIL"!

Karen: Just horrible how the workers have one excuse after another. Good for you telling the guy BYE-BYE. Sooner or later you girls will find somebody. I'd ask for references and a phone number to check out previous work at this point. Can you former Plumbing Company guys make any suggestions? I'm with you on the BRAIN NOT SHUTTING down and us missing out on sleep. My mistake was to NOT TURN OFF the TV. Got hooked on a story. I think we all need to go to one of those SLEEP CLINICS and have them re-program our minds!
go to sleep GIF
Wonder if this is how they work it? Ha Ha

Lee:
I sure hope that the pups appreciate you going to the Navy Park when it's this wet and cold outside. Bless you for all you do for them!
When was the last time you made some Granola? Must be time to do that by now. Good day for it. The oven being on would keep it nice and cozy inside the house.

Nancy: Hope the gravel shows up. I'm sure you want to get that project done. Will you put anything on the sides to keep the gravel from moving into your grass? Like a border of bricks or something?

Bill/Rita: When do they pick up your Automobile? I suppose you have a pile of packed stuff that goes inside of it to save on dragging too much through the airport. Nice that your SON will fly down to make sure you close up the rental and get to the airport and safely home. It's nice to have good kids to help with things like this. Peace of mind for them too after your past track record! I just hope it warms up a little more for your return trip.

Dave asked: Oh yea, any word yet on what you are doing with your car whose lease is running out?
When I stopped by the dealership Andy gave me a few options, but most were too confusing for me to totally understand. I have to make decisions closer to MAY. My lease isn't up until Sept 30th. I'm thinking my next car may be the last LEASED car for me. I put less and less miles on my car these days and they way they make auto's these days if you get your oil changed regularly and a occasional tune-up & new tires the car will out-live me! :icon rolleyes:

Okay, not sure what I'm going to do with the rest of my day. I have cheese to make Pierogies and freeze them for future use. Or I could bake something for our Choir's annual Palm Sunday Bake Sale and freeze it and be ahead of the game. Or I could just knit and relax.
I already changed out the bedding and it's in the dryer now.

Later gang. Enjoy your day.

We went to our local favorite Greek restaurant last night and I must admit it was a treat to EAT OUT instead cooking! I had really good Fish & baked potato & soup. And Art had his favorite Turkey dinner. Both were on the Senior specials and $13 bucks each. Just the right amount of food too. We like to sit in the last booth away from a lot of people traffic. Went around 5:00 pm and the rush hour was just starting to pile in as we were leaving. They had some kind of
Chilean Bass fish on the menu for $38 bucks! Art said he can't imagine how much of that they actually sell at that price. I'd want linens on the table and a lot more ambiance to pay that for a FISH DINNER!

Enjoy your day folks and be back either later or tomorrow!

Kathie - That price is just about right for the Chilean Sea Bass. Bert and Jimmy had it one night and they said it was delicious. Might have to try it one of these days when Bonefish has it as a special.
The LIVE crawfish was shipped from Louisiana. It's a 30 lb bag! This is what it looks like -

Still COLD here all day. Now it's 33F and dropping. Crazy weather for sure.

PAT:
Thanks for the Picture of Crawfish! That's neat that they ship those by way of FedX. I must say I like a lot of different kinds of Seafood, but could never acquire a taste for crawfish.
I'm told if seasoned and cooked right they are sweet to eat.

DAVE/Kathi: Love the bird houses. The colors are just perfect. I'm sure the Grandson enjoyed his time with Grandma painting these. Excellent idea. :clap002: :clap002:

I'm about to BAKE a batch of Choc Chip cookies for my gang. I made the dough earlier and it's always better when it stays in the refrig so the dough gets cold. They don't spread as much that way.

You all have a good evening. Hope we ALL sleep well tonight. We all need to learn how to PULL THE PLUG and let our brains relax.

They call this Spring???

Heck it's not going to get out of the 20's today.

I'll tell you one thing, these Catholic churches sure have rules on about everything. The kids have to do at least 3 1/2 hours of community service. Well it took our grandkid more than that to put together and paint all 5 birdhouses. In the picture, while waiting for the paint to dry, we hadn't yet put on the short dowel rods the birdies stand on. Nor the chain to attach it to a tree's branch. They all came out mighty-fine.

Then it was a lunch of pizza and root-beer floats.

I mentioned that he's autistic. Which is why he can focus on a single thing. A half hour didn't go by when he wasn't talking about soda pop. What kind we have, what we need to buy, and how much we pay for it. He also has lots and lots of T-shirts with different brand names of pop on them. The shirt he wore yesterday said Mountain-Dew. Oh well, he's a good kid.

It was funny; I went out of the room once. While gone, he asked Kathi that since it was cold and snowing outside, why was I wearing shorts.

Lots of pictures and that is fun.
We had a morning of snow yesterday. It was gone from the roads and lawns by the early afternoon. Today we’re stuck below the freezing mark.
Those cookies look good Kathie. Good enough to eat I might add. They made me miss the cookies from Gideon’s Bakehouse in FL.
Great colours on the birdhouses Dave. Granny Kathi and the young fella did a super job! I can’t remember the last time I had a root beer float.
How was the seafood boil and wine tasting Pat? The way you did the shrimp sounds really good.
I don’t understand why these so called handymen even book appointments if they have no intention of coming out Karen. No wonder there are so many help wanted signs in FL. Nobody wants to work! I do hope the park fella shows up.
There’s something about holding a good old fashioned newspaper and reading it Nancy. Well, that and all the flyers that used to come on Saturday.
I‘m late feeding the pups so I best get a move on.
Have a good, but above all, safe day.

Woke up to snow all over the grass, rooftops and sidewalk.
Hey MOTHER NATURE give it up already it's almost APRIL! 24degrees too! :emoticon 0101 sadsmile:

I want to report that I had a good nights sleep last night. Well, at least I didn't toss and turn and my brain slowed down long enough for me to fall asleep.

We're watching Season 2 of
BRIDGETON. A English series that had us hooked last year. We like to Binge watch the episodes at about 2-3 at a time. WOW.... do those Brits talk fast. If it wasn't for Closed Captions there would be no way we'd understand a thing they were say. It's a good series, but soon it will be over. Can't wait until YELLOWSTONE'S next series to shows up.

DAVE:
We have a great-nephew that is Autistic. He is in his mid 25's and has Asperger Syndrome! He is brilliant with computer programming and detail, but has difficulty dealing one on one with people. On top of his issues, His father, (Art's oldest brothers son), had a stroke one day when driving to work and lives in a group home. He will never recover and is at the 12-15 yr old age level since the stroke. If you ever think you have it rough, there is always someone that is struggling way more out their in the world. The lad with the Asperger Syndrome holds down a job and lives with his Mom and in spite of his Asperger syndrome is doing well. Lots of therapy has helped him.

Art, is at a MODEL CAR SHOW right now. The man has a hard time walking long distances and he's at the local College gymnasium walking around looking at vendors tables full of MODEL CAR kits, parts, etc, etc. Funny how he can walk around in that gym for hours! Oh well, I hope he finds a rare old CAR KIT in a box to make his trip worthwhile.

Karen: Any news on a new contractor yet? Hope you ladies find someone soon. By the way, how's the new pool doing? Is it open to swim in for this year yet?

I'm off to get another cup of JAVA. I was planning on going to church today, but after I saw the snow and the 24 degree temp I changed my mind. I'm still very put off by this new priest and his MONEY HUNGRY WAYS. I'm sure he's why I'm wearing the heart monitor right now. Gave me some 'stress related' issues and sleepless nights thinking about the whole situation. I'll just leave it at that. So far I've had NO ALERTS while wearing this gizmo.

Enjoy your SUNDAY and be safe. Covid is still around.

The numbers in Michigan are as follows:
Michigan reported
1,575 new cases of COVID-19 and 38 virus-related deaths Friday -- an average of 787.5 cases over a two-day period.
So, Covid is still around and we really shouldn't let our guard down after working so hard the past 2 yrs to fight it. ;)

Good morning! Once again, everyone else is still asleep while I sit here amusing myself with the computer.

Kathie - Those cookies look delicious. I took the easy way out and had Bert pick up some cookies from Publix bakery. Not a fan of Publix bakery, but the did have oatmeal cookies and chocolate chip cookies. That should keep the masses happy and saved me from doing the work. ;)

Dave - Those bird houses look terrific. Kathi and the grandson did a great job. Your mentioning about the young man's obsession with different sodas (we don't call it pop here!) sort of reminded me of the movie Rainman and his obsession with buying his underwear at Kmart! Are there any more Kmart stores out there? They all closed in our area years ago.

Lee - The seafood boil was wonderful. Best part is that there is still plenty left, so we may have to go back today to help consume what's left. I'd be up for that task as long as I don't have to cook today. The wine pairing was unreal. It was a Mardi Gras themed tasting with 5 wines from France. Started with a crawfish dip with crackers that was to die for. Then a really good deviled egg, followed by a muffaletta sandwich. Next came a killer bowl of gumbo and finally individual 5" king cakes. All that for $10!!!!! the bowl of gumbo alone was worth it. We ended up buying 3 bottles of wine. G&E also bought 3 bottles, so there's going to be a lot of wine being passed around.
While G&E were out and about earlier yesterday, they stopped at Total Wines to get Jimmy a birthday gift. While there, they bought me a bottle of wine that I had heard about the day before. Elaine likes 19 Crimes merlot with Snoop Dog's picture on the label. The one they got for me was 19 Crimes Martha Steward on the label and it's a chardonnay. We'll try it one of these evenings and then Elaine can have the bottle for her collection.

The gang is all still asleep. I guess it's up to me to get my own breakfast today. Bummer!!

Have a super fantastic Sunday, everyone. Stay warm all you northerners and stay cool all of us here in the deep south. :D

Kathie - I see you posted just before me. I don't blame you for staying away from Church today with snow on the ground again.
Your covid numbers are much better than ours are thanks to the number of idiots who refuse to get vaccinated and also are not wearing masks while shopping. I'm so glad Bert still wears a mask at Publix, the big box stores and even when he gets gas. He also uses hand sanitizer as soon as he gets in the car. We are seeing less and less people wearing masks, so of course, our numbers are going to continue to be high.

Snowing a tad harder now. Art's Daffodils' that have poked through the ground and our Peonies are almost snow covered right now. Poor things. Good thing they are hardy plants.

BB: So glad the BOIL turned out so good.

Any luck with G&E finding a place to live while "the house" gets totally remodeled? That was a plan I hope for your sake! :grnbounce:

Lee: Did you make it to the Park for that walk earlier? If so......BLESS YOU!

Speaking of stores that may not be around anymore, reminded me that when we were on the shuttle taking us to the cruise terminal, we passed a Liggett's Rexall Drug Store. Haven't seen one of those in years.
Car is due to be picked up sometime this week, K2. The company will call us with a definite schedule a day or two before the pickup. Kevin arrives on Tuesday and we fly home on Friday so we will have some form of transportation once the car is gone.
In proof of the theory that even a blind squirrel sometimes finds a nut, I am currently leading in my March Madness bracket despite the fact that the team I had predicted would win the championship was eliminated in the first round. There are only ten fellows in the pool and it appears that only one other person has a chance to beat me. Haven't been watching the games so that I don't jinx myself because the only game I did watch was the one that my proposed champions lost.

Good morning. It only took me about 4 hours to get to sleep last night and that was with taking 10 mg of Melatonin and an hour an half later a rx sleeping pill, all because I took an hour nap yesterday.

Yesterday Bruce put a special filter in the ac, it is supposed to get rid of viruses and other things and last for a few years.

And yesterday I booked us a dinner at the Le Petit Chef for our Alaska cruise. Hopefully will start booking excursions soon.

My plan for today is watching the Cup race.

All have a great day.

Amen & Halleluiah! Oh it's such a wonderful feeling waking up and finding an over $4,000 credit on our credit card. Yes, the cruise line has fully refunded a canceled cruise.

Glad to hear that you had a good night's sleep, K2. Here's something I don't understand; Art has a hard time walking long distances, but he can ride a bike for hours.

"I can’t remember the last time I had a root beer float." You and me both, Lee.

BB; The Kmart in Massillon closed up about 4 years ago. Snoop Dog's picture on a bottle of wine? Oh my gosh.

Since I'm not a big fan of basketball, I've never filled out "bracket", Bill.

Can't say I've ever heard of a filter that lasts for years, Nancy.

Hiya KC! Now DON'T YOU even be thinking about you doing that bathroom remodel!

Another day in the 20's, but at least no snow.

At one this afternoon Kathi and the grandson will be heading over to the "Danbury" assisted living place to hang up those 5 birdhouses. Their fingers may freeze off in the process.

Good morning.
Like Dave, we have another cold day on tap before temps improve bringing a couple of rainy days.
Not that I’m sceptical Nancy but a “few year“ virus filter? OK, I am sceptical.
We saw Snoop and Martha’s wines in Publix Pat. I think we picked up a bottle that didn’t have them on the label for a few bucks less. If you go on the 19 Crimes web site the criminals on the labels “tell” you their story. That tasting sure sounded great! As did the boil.
As hard as it was to believe that our trip south ended a couple of weeks back I can’t believe that you and Rita head home on Friday Bill. Good luck with your March Madness pool. And here I thought March Madness referred to filing you income tax and Spring Break.
What treasures did Art find at the model car show Kathie? I looked at a model car kit not that long ago and almost choked when I saw the prices! Any cookies left?
Did the handy man show for you Karen? If he did, did he give you any feeling of confidence?
Breakfast time for dogs. Yep Kathie, they did get to their park yesterday and likely will again today.
Have a Magnificent Monday everyone.

Good morning! It is NOT in the 20s here. I hate to tell you up north that we're going into the high 80s today and will get to the low 90s by Thursday. Sorry!!

Bill - How fast your time here in Florida has come and gone. Glad Kevin will be with you for your last couple of days in Florida this year. At least you won't be stuck at the condo once your car has been picked up. Now about your bracket - I hope you didn't pick St Peter's to win it all. Used to pass St Peter's almost every day in high school. They are a really small college and really won the hearts of everyone in JC making it as far as they did. They had no chance against the Tarheels.
By the way, Have you gotten into the new Janet Evanovich book yet? This one is really different and I really like it. I told Bert that he would probably like it too.

Nancy - I never heard of a filter that last for years. What is the brand name? I hope you enjoyed your races yesterday.

Lee - You are a hearty soul to be taking the dogs for a walk in such cold weather, but I guess you are all used to it. Jimmy stopped over yesterday and dropped off a huge roasting pan of leftovers from the seafood boil. First thing we did was to take all the meat out of the crawfish tails. They we just separated the rest of the stuff, so it would be easier to decide what you want to eat. I of course, got into the blue crabs and have only 1 or 2 left for lunch today.

Dave - Congratulations! You and Kathi did it and out lasted RCCL!!!! Time to go celebrate with a nice dinner out. You'd be amazed to see what pictures are on some wine bottles. Just looking at the pictures is fun and a cheap amusement!!!

Kathie - So did Art buy anything at the model car show? Hard to believe the prices on those model cars.

Karen - So how goes the process of trying to find a contractor? Did you stop at the DIY store yet?

Got 2 Home Health visits today. One from therapy in about an hour and then a nurse later this afternoon. G&E are heading to the coast to meet with their contractor this afternoon, so we'll only have the boys for dinner. We're having hamburgers that I made a while ago just for a change. Good day to eat outside.

Have a wonderful day, gang!

Good morning. Got a real good night's sleep last night, after midnight I did not wake until just after 7 this morning.

Am doing a load of laundry, have washed some dishes, making a grocery list for tomorrow.

The race yesterday was very good. And now for 6 races there are 6 different winners, unheard of.

The filter is electric, a Remi Halo. It kills Bacteria, Molds and Viruses, reduces Odors, particulate, smoke and VOCs (chemical odors) and kills 99% of sneeze germs within 3 feet. Bruce had seen it online and read up on it, then we saw it at a home show in West Palm Beach. The company showing it said they could not just sell us the unit but they would come and install at a cost of over $1000. Bruce found it online at $600 so he bought one for us and one for Jennifer's. Now that he has put in ours he will take the other over to Jennifer's and put it in. Max has a bunch of allergies so it should help him.

Dave, riding a bike is less stress on the body and a lot less
jarring, so even with out being able to walk far you can ride a bike far.

Last week at the Dr she wrote a Rx for my hands and said to take 3 to 5 days. Well today was day 4 and so far no improvement and other fingers are hurting and swelling some. She said it could lower my blood pressure and I just took it an it is down a bunch but not considered low so as far as that goes it is okay.

All have a great day.

AFTERNOON WRABBITS! And here we are in PURE MICHIGAN freezing our butts off. 24F degrees. (you can use that "F" in different ways today! Ha ha) Brrrrrrrr cold and WINDY too.

Dave asked: Here's something I don't understand; Art has a hard time walking long distances, but he can ride a bike for hours.
Art is sitting on a bike seat and bent over holding his handle bars when biking. NO pressure on any of his vertebras and hardware in his back or on the arthritis. When he's walking or just standing in one spot or walking for a long distance he's putting pressure on his OLD BONES and I can see him looking for a place to sit or LEAN on something. He loves using shopping carts when he goes to Home Depot/Lowes/Krogers! That's the story and he's sticking to it. :clap002:

LEE & BB asked: So did Art buy anything at the model car show? Hard to believe the prices on those model cars.
Art buys Model car KITS. He bought a 1994 Mustang III Concept Car KIT. $10 bucks. He sands the plastic, fits them together, paints and details them as if they were a actual car. I'll have to take a picture of his display in his basement workshop area. It's amazing. I think I posted it once years ago. Keeps him BUSY and HAPPY. And you how the saying goes: Happy Hubby, Happy Wife! (well something like that)

Dave: If it's as COLD and WINDY in Ohio as it is here in Pure Michigan Kathi said Grandson will be freezing for sure. Nice of them to get the Bird Houses to Danbury so quickly.

The rest of you WRABBITS have a fantastic day. I'm off to bake a batch of cookies that I will be freezing and taking to the Choirs Annual Palm Sunday Bake Sale. I made the dough yesterday so it will be an easy job.
And LEE..... there are only 8 cookies left for us to share. And the rest are in the freezer for Jill's when we see them next.

Mark is in Santa Monica on business since Friday. At least the weather is a little better than we have here! 61F and 100% chance of RAIN! Tues will be sunny.

Just got back from going to a REAL MOVIE THEATRE tonight. And before you ask.....YES I did wear my MASK through the entire show. There may have been 50 people tops in our viewing theatre. Went to see A MAN of GOD! It was a rather "holy type" movie. Because of all the BS that is going on in my own church a lot of the movie had me changing out the characters on and off. I would love to be able to go up to the "new priest" and tell him HE SHOULD GO SEE THIS MOVIE and become a lot more humble than he is. I'll just leave it at that.

It was really amazing that on a MONDAY NIGHT the movie theatre had so many people coming and going from other movies being shown tonight. I'd say 95% of the people DID NOT HAVE A MASK ON!

Cookies turned out really good and are packaged away and in the freezer already. Art gave them his Stamp of Approval by tasting 3 broken ones. Ha Ha.

I called the Dentist today and will be going in with Art next Wednesday to get my back molar CROWN replaced. IT CRACKED ON ONE SIDE. NOTHING HORRIBLE. It's been back there for decades. I took a
fingernail file and filed one little sharp edge and it's just fine. But still needs to get replaced.

26degrees as I type. Brrrr. Be good little Wrabbits.
