Good evening from Breezy Beautiful Belleview!! Weather here today was chamber of commerce perfect....almost a perfect "Pure Florida" day....sorry Kathie...couldn't resist...

Dave, ouch for poor Kathi...hopefully the implant went well & the patient is being properly pampered for the next day or so...Nice that Jack is able to bring a little of the puppy back in Fuzzbutt...

Pat, I don't believe I've mentioned lately I still work for food....have muffins will travel is my new business slogan... :emoticon 0100 smile: actually Barb brought over some fresh blueberries the other day...I might make a batch of muffins myself...

Lee, thanks for another great trip down musical memory lane...ahhh the 60's....what a great time to be alive...
You may very well be right regarding the sudden influx of squirrels at the Navy Yard...Kathie probably had Art build little tiny power boats and baited them with sunflower seeds & sent them zipping across the bay...

Kathie, the owner of that rental house is lucky to have his house in one piece after all that...and people wonder why rents are so high...the landlords are just trying to cover the eventual damage they know they are going to have to repair...

Nancy, not sure when your flights are but I wouldn't stress to much over the short layover in SF....chance are it will change again before the flight...even my short flights to Baltimore change at least 3 times between booking & the actual flight...

Bill, slow day in the sports world so you had to take up "bunny poking"? Who knew our Kathie was the poster girl for Pure Michigan...

I sent the contractor an email back & told him I was willing to pay him $500, which would be just under 1/3 of the original quote...I told him that I though an invoice for nearly half the quote was excessive for the work that was done....we shall see...we did not have a signed contract...we have FB messages back & forth outlining the work to be done & what he would charge...not sure if he would win taking us to small claims court or not...I also don't want to end up with him messing up my credit either so if he doesn't back down I'll pay it...but it won't be "upon receipt" like he has on the invoice...
Barb got off early this afternoon so Wes came by again to sand the drywall patch & put another coat on...he may come back tomorrow to spray coat the ceiling...if not tomorrow then Tues. he said...the bathroom looks great so far! And the shower area is so big, Barb is thrilled!
I forget the name of the color paint Barb picked but it's a light blue...she has the white bead board wainscoting on the bottom half of the room & the light blue will be above that...the floor is a tannish/grey LVP....so it's going to be a very beachy coastal feel...just what she wanted....hopefully the project will be finished up in the next week or 2...it's been a long work in progress!

Good evening.

Karen, our fights were supposed to be from Tampa at 7:22 am, arrive SF at 9:50 am. leave SF at 4:30 pm and arrive Vancouver at 6:35. Now with it being 3 flights leave Tampa at either 9:35 or 10:35 am, it changed while I was on the phone with a United Rep., and leave SF at 4:30 and arrive Vancouver 6:35. With an hour and half layover in Chicago and the same layover in SF. But will see when it is closer to time to fly.

All have a good night.

Looks like I didn't give enough detail about Kathi's tooth implant.

Yesterday was just the 1st step in getting the implant. Having the broken tooth removed along with some bone grafting. Now she'll be on hold for a few months while her jawbone heals. The whole procedure won't be completed for at least 4 months.

In spite of what they say on some TV adds, it's not a one day procedure. Maybe the last step is, but not the total procedure.

So that's what "Pure Michigan" is all about. A tax dollar marketing campaign to promote the state. Ohio's should be, "A Buckeye is just another useless nut".
1f601.png

Today 2 grandkids are coming over this morning, One is going to assist Kathi in carrying bags of mulch from the drive to the old pool area. And the other wants to play with our battery powered suck-em up gizmo, sucking up leaves. (The opposite of a leaf blower.)

It should be partly sunny and 65.

As usual, the rug-rats get to decide what fast-food they want for lunch.

Good morning! Welcome to "Pure Florida" aka "Sunshine State"!

I could think of a few more names for our state thanks to that idiot we have to call governor. His latest brainless thing is that before he leaves office, he wants to pass a law where anyone can carry a gun without a permit! Talk about the wild, wild west! Like there's not enough shootings in Florida already. This jerk wants to have everyone armed, eo if you anger someone, they can just pull out their gun and shoot you. Brilliant, huh?

Dave - Thanks for explaining about Kathi's implant procedure. Now it makes more sense. Enjoy having the grandkids over today. Isn't it wonderful when they are old enough to help with chores. That gives you and Kathi a break. So what delicious fast food did the kids decide they wanted?

Kathy - Thanks for the in depth explanation of where "Pure Michigan" came from.

Bill - Been watching any of the NFL draft? I watched a little of it, but it was the first day when things were so dragged out. You get dandelions in spring. We get clover. Both are very good for feeding bees.

Karen - That's pretty generous what you want to pay that first contractor. I still haven't made those blueberry muffins.

Nancy - I know you told us, but remind me again ... when is your trip to Alaska?

Lee - Any new shipments of squirrels arrive today at the Navy Yard? We've got them all over here right now, but many of them will be eaten by the eagles before they get too big. How's that for controlling the squirrel population?

We haven't heard from G&E, but assume they closed on the house yesterday. Their one son is going to get the riot act read to him when he comes home. He was supposed to take the dogs our after school and before he headed off to work. We weren't home at the time, but we assumed he did take them out. Then he was to take them out when he came home last night. We went to bed before he came home. I woke up this morning to the sound of the 2 dogs crying. I had to wake Bert up to take the dogs out, Needless to say, he was not a happy camper. Boy, were those dogs doing the "pee-pee" dance in their eagerness to get outside. You would have thought that SOMEONE would have called us yesterday to ask Bert to take the dogs out!

Time now for me to write up a shopping list for what we need for dinner tonight. We never got the steaks the other night, so tonight Bert will be grilling 8 filet mignons. I'll fix the baked potatoes and make the fried peppers & onions while the fresh Florida corn on the cob is cooking. Also planning a nice bottle of wine to go with dinner. How's that for a Saturday night dinner.

Have a super day, everyone! Do something fun!

Good morning. No real plans for today other than watching some NASCAR, practice, qualifying and then the Xfinity race.

Did not get any rain this morning but we may later.

Decided that dinner tonight is to be real easy, will order a pizza.

Did not get the rock yesterday due to the rain, would be nice if we get it today.

On Facebook I shared a photo of an Orchid tree, they used a nice piece of driftwood and hung pots on it. Well Jennifer decided that she liked it but of course would not be able to afford a piece of driftwood big enough. Well with Bruce trimming the Sea Grape there is one nice piece that is too long but will do so Bruce will cut it so we can take it to Jennifer's. now for me to find the pot holders she gave me so I can give them back to her as I really don't like to use clay pots and the ones I have I don't want to put on the house.

BB, our trip to Alaska is not until Sept. but I figured when I booked it I would book the air fare and get a good price which I did. And Bruce wanted the flight to SF that we had a 6 hour layover and now, hardly any .

All have a great day.

Good afternoon...not a lot to report on here today either....although the original contractor accepted my proposal & resubmitted an invoice for $500...there was a lot of demo work involved so I feel like that is a fair price...and he takes Pay Pal so I was able to use that & get 6 months interest free....might as well take advantage of that .30% the bank is giving me...

Dave, still sound like an ouchie day for Kathi with more to come...have fun with the grandkids...aka free if you feed them labor..

Pat, your dinner tonite sounds delish....I had a chicken tender sandwich & a cup of cream of mushroom soup...I got home from running around this afternoon & was starving, so that was quick & easy...

Lee, you find the cutest videos! I can see our Kathie doing that...

Went to Lowes this afternoon to get the molding for Barb's bathroom...I got some really nice PVC baseboard for around the floor...and the new chair rail molding for above the beadboard....along with 2 new air filters for the furnace...I figured if I was going to have to turn the air on soon I better be putting a new filter in...
Wes had a birthday party to go to this afternoon so he won't be back to Barb's till tues...Barb is chomping at the bit for me to paint, but until he's done sanding the walls I can't...

I can't seem to get warm enough tonight. Temp says it's 56F outside. I just wish it was like 70F.
Off to get under my blanket on the couch. Hope I can find a movie for us to watch on Netflix.

Happy May 1st Bunnies! Mother Nature, you can now warm it up and keep it that way.

Hope you all got a good night's sleep, for a change.

"So what delicious fast food did the kids decide they wanted?" It surprised me BB that they chose Kentucky Fried Chicken. Everyone got something different. I thought fast-food was suppose to be cheap. For just the 4 of us it was $33. And that's without drinks, since we ate it here at the house.

K2 & Lee; You guys do know that smuggling in undocumented squirrels is illegal, don't you? Next thing you know there'll be some really "nutty" voting in Canada.

KC; I'm happy that you and the old contractor are comfortable with a price of $500. Nobody robbed the other.

A soggy day here but at least it'll be in the lower 70's.

Good morning. It is an overcast day here today but no rain until maybe 1. Plan for today is to shred papers in a bit and this afternoon watch the Cup race. May watch some of the Indy race too.

All have a great day.

Good AFTERNOON. Yikes where did the morning go???

Nice lady from the Shutter shoppe came to REPLACE the broken shutter on the doorwall. She is just the nicest person. Between her and Art and even me hold a screwdriver, etc we got the shutter replaced and leveled and all is good. It was a good learning lesson for Art in case he needs to ever adjust those panels. ALL IS GOOD!

It's still CLOUDY and DULL looking outside. 55 degrees, but I swear it feels colder.

Lee: Cute picture of Nancy's Cup races! Hope she wins.

Karen: I got the chills just READING that you were going down to the pool. Oh how I wish that was possible around here. I don't see anybody getting into any MICHIGAN water until late July or August. ENJOY.
Nice the OLD-useless contractor agreed to your payment. He'll get NO RECCOMMENDATIONS from you for any jobs!

Today is going to be a DO NOTHING DAY around here.

Tomorrow I get the "Mellon Smashing" done, as Marcia would call it! At least it's only about 1 mile away from our house. Quick in and out.

You all behave yourselves and I'll be back later to check on you.:emoticon 0115 inlove:

DAVE: I still love to have some Original style Kentucky Fried Chicken from time to time. I just wish they would give you more Mashed Potatoes & Cole Slaw with the meals. And YIKES have the prices gone up on a 2 piece dinner. Use to be a cheap go to chicken joint.... not these days.

Good mid afternoon, all. Getting a late start on here as I too have nothing to say or report on. Just a slow, lazy day.

Lee & Kathie - I love the squirrel pictures!

Dave - We stopped going to KFC years ago after one of the sides I ordered, corn, was put in a container all dried up and burnt! I tried to call them for a replacement, but they didn't answer the phone. I agree they have gotten way too expensive. Much cheaper to get Publix fried chicken and supply my own sides at home.

Karen - Good for you to go to the pool today. It's a good one for it. I think we may go down to the Grille for a drink and to check ou t their NEW menu which I already know has higher prices. They really don't give you all that much for the money - No salad and no bread when you order a meal  Too many other places out there that give you your money's worth.

Nancy - Enjoy your races today.

Time to get off here and see about taking a BEloved nap. As usual I got a terrible night's sleep. Take care and I'll see you tomorrow.

Wasn't trying to "poke" anyone. Just a bit confused over the meaning of the slogan and wondering just what conditions (place, taste, smell, feel) would cause someone to stop and sigh "Ah, Pure Michigan". As slogans go, though, I still don't think it rates up to some others such as "I Love NY", "Virginia is for lovers", Florida-"the Sunshine State,", "I'll Take New England Any Day", or even "What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas" I worked with New England State Travel Directors for many years and saw some, shall we say, strange advertising campaigns that advertising agencies sometimes came up with to promote state travel.
Didn't watch any of the NFL draft. To my mind it is even more like watching paint dry than golf is reputed to be.
We may have doomed ourselves to watching many more sessions of young girls' soccer games by attending Jaclyn's match yesterday since she told us it was their first win in two years.
As if, I don't know what kind of sleep I get each night, my Fitbit scores it. Last night it categorized it as "restless", which explains why an afternoon nap seems quite more appealing than watching the Celtics being outplayed by the Milwaukee Bucks at the moment.

We stopped to see what the prices were for Annual Flowers at one of the bigger nurseries. YIKES….can we say EXPENSIVE and CRAZY.
I’ll be planting a lot less for sure.

WOW, look at all the purdy posies!

Great pictures, K2. Have fun at the "Mellon Smashing" today.

At least you got a good night's sleep Saturday night, KC. Hope the pool water was warm enough for you.

Did you get in your BEloved nap, BB?

"I didn't realize Nancy's "cup races" were on the water". Now THAT is funny, Lee.

"Set the way-back machine Sherman."

Jack has quite a few chew toys, but his favorite is a small Lamb Chop. Says so right on the label.

I asked Kathi if she remembered who Lamb Chop was, she had no clue. I even gave her some hints about it being a puppet. Still no clue. Sheri Lewis the ventriloquist. ZIP. (Kathi is such a youngster.)

Does Lamb Chop ring a bell with any of you other old farts? This puppet first appeared in the mid 50's.

It was driving me nuts that I couldn't remember the name of the dog puppet that often appeared with Lamb Chop, so I ended up looking it up.

Good morning.
Another night not having a good sleep. I have to call the cardiologist AGAIN today. I called last week to ask about some side effects from the meds he prescribed a month ago and he didn't call back.
I fear that everything is getting stupid expensive Kathie! Even peanuts to feed the squirrels. Stop at Starbucks after your smashing and treat yourself!
You may have nailed it Bill. Someone returning home from another state or country may well have experienced all of those things and indeed uttered “Ah, Pure Michigan”.
I wonder if the contractor was wanting the lesser amount but hoped you’d pay the invoiced amount Karen. Good for you getting a lower rate. How was the pool?
First you mention ”the way back machine” from Mr. Peabody and Sherman AND then Shari Lewis and Lamb Chop Dave! What year did I wake up in?
And how was that nap Pat? We haven’t had KFC for ages. And I likely should steer clear of it anyway. I suppose the same should go for Publix Fried Chicken but seeing as we can only get it in FL, it’s a darned fine treat!
I did notice a new picture for you, yesterday I think, Nancy. Nice. I don’t usually pick up on things straight away.
Now that the ice is out of the rec centre they have set up the pickleball courts indoors again. I think we’re going to pop over and have a go. If it’s all the “way to serious” players I won’t be there very long. I’d rather keep the ball going, learn the game and have fun before I worry about points!
You all have fantastic days!

Good morning! I figured I better get on here this morning, because you just never know where your day will wander to around here these days. For instance - I never did get that nap yesterday. Instead in the afternoon Bert & I went down to the Grille for a drink and snack. We also wanted to see the new menu. Of course, all theprices have been raised. That was to be expected.

Kathie - Great pictures at the nursery. That's a lot more plants than we find at Lowes and Home Depot. They're about the only places you can go to these days for plants. It's a shame, as I always loved going to a REAL nursery for plants. So many of them have closed and the land has been sold. :(

Bill -I agree with you that some states have great mottos and others are really bad. I figure Florida's motto is going to change to "Come on down. Bring your gun. No permit needed" if DeathSantis get his way. Like we don't have enough shootings here already!

Dave - Of course I remember Sheri Lewis & Lamb Chop. Used to watch them all the time on TV. I admit it - I am an old fart!! I could pull out some REAL old TV shows that would make me look totally ancient, so I won't!

Lee - Sorry that once again you did not get a good night's sleep. Welcome to the club! I fell asleep before 12 and the woke up at 1:20. I tossed and turned until 2:30 before falling asleep again until 4:45 at which point my night's sleep was over. Now I have to look bright eyed and bushy tailed as someone from Advent Health is coming sometime this morning. I thought I was finished with them, but I guess I was wrong.

Nancy - So how was your race yesterday?

Karen - What's on tap for you today? It's going to be a hot one, so I think it's time to put the AC on. It is May, after all.

Bert just appeared, so I guess it's time for some breakfast. Have a wonderful day, gang, and stay out of trouble!

Good Morning! I GAINED a DAY this morining. I saw that Art was still home and went downstairs to see why he hadn't gone biking. Afterall to me it was TUESDAY! Ha Ha. Well, Mr Art informed me that it was MONDAY and he doesn't bike on MONDAYS! Ha Ha, I gained a day! :clap002:

Now I do remember Lamb Chop and Sherri, but I don't know what this "the way back machine from Mr Peabody and Sherman is all about. You boys amaze me with all your knowledge of things from the past.

Lee: Sorry to read that you're having issues sleeping and with the meds. Do you think you are going to bed too early? Can't help you on the meds issue. Hope you can reach the doctor and get some decent answers.

It's gloomy here today, but Art said it's not suppose to rain until tomorrow. (biking day of course)
I've been looking for a new bike in the various "market place sites on Fbook". Goodness nobody is giving away a bike these days. I could add a few hundred more and buy a brand new one. Trouble with that is the bike stores are VOID of new bikes. Supply & Demand and Supply Chain issues from lack of workers and all the freight tied up in China because of their lockdown on Covid spread. Life really sucks lately.

I must say that I was happy to learn that all our new appliances are in the warehouse except for the new cooktop. It should be here in a month. NO RUSH, the cabinets are still a month from being sent from Indiana where they are being made.
I found this all out when I had a shelf in the refrigerator that had a crack on the stainless steel edge. I called my sales person and he said bring it in and we'll SWAP it OUT from one of the refrigerators on the floor since it would take MONTHS to order a new one these days. Worked for me. And I was glad to know they will keep all my new "appliances" in the warehouse until we need them. I questioned if they wouldn't get sold to a customer who needed one of them and the salesman said NO we don't do that. (time will tell) Ha Ha.

Okay gang. I'm plum out of anything to chat about, so I'll give you a break with this CHIT-CHAT stuff for now.

Catch up with you later. :emoticon 0115 inlove:
