So Lee, did you get to take a pair of the hearing aids with you right away? If so, that sure does save you another trip. Hope they help you hear clearer. I swear Art doesn't hear with or without his hearing aids! Ha Ha. What do that call that..... SELECTIVE HEARING!! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

The weather say “mostly clear” but it’s as cloudy as can be. And humid.
Good morning!
Unfortunately Kathie, they only have “tester“ hearing aids. They are able to set them up a little bit but the ones I get will be programmed exactly to the results of my test. We go back in three weeks to pick them up, get a brief tutorial about them, program them to my iPhone (yes you read that right) and do a brief walk about the store to “test” them. I did a lot of reading about them online and they are highly rated by independent hearing sites and reviewers.
Similar to Art I asked the audiologist Laura if they had a “spousal setting”. She asked “a what?” I told her a setting where the wearer can’t hear their spouse! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:
So tell us Mike, do you get slugged by Fay very often for not listening?
Lu-Ann is off with the ladies tonight for “Cosmo Night” at one of our craft distilleries. They use the event as a fund raiser and collect feminine products to go to a couple of the shelters in the area. Jim has asked the guys if we’d like to go with him to a spot in town for wings.
I do hope all of you have a great day. It’s Wednesday, isn’t it?

GOOD Mid Morning!
Lee your hearing aids sound perfect. (did you catch that) Ha ha! Art has his aids programed to his iPhone also.
Sounds like a busy day for you.
We had the Siding genius show up at 8:00 to attached a ‘octagon’ fake vent at the peak of the garage. Looks so much better than just the plane siding look. It took Chris all of 5 mins to trim and attach it. And the owner said there will be “no charge” to us! How nice for us!
After Chris got done and left we drove about 15 mins to the orchards and bought some Michigan Peaches. They are so expensive this year. Every year the price keeps going up. $54.00 for a bushel. And NO we didn’t buy a bushel! Ha ha. The days of me canning peaches is history! Then we drove a few more miles to a huge veggie stand and HOLY CRAP their prices were crazy high. Bought some corn that was just being off-loaded from the wagon. Both places wanted a 4% add-on for credit card use. I’ve started to make sure we have CASH available lately for purchases like that.
Kitchen floor is waiting to get washed. If I wasn’t so cheap I’d love to have a cleaning person come in and clean twice a month! :emoticon 0122 itwasntme:
Stay COOL today and the rest of the week. It’s going to get up into the 90’s starting tomorrow!

Off to do Grocery Shopping. If you don't hear from me in a few days CALL Kroger's and have them look for me. I HATE grocery shopping.

Pardon?
We have a couple of farm markets / fruit and veggie stands that do the same thing with added fees for credit or debit cards Kathie. We NEVER carry cash anymore. We may have $5 each in our wallets. If Capitol One were to ask us “What’s in your wallet” we’d laugh and answer “not much”.
Compared to the upcoming days the Real Feel of 91F is cool! YUK.

ps…which Kroger’s?

9” across. Is that why they call them dinner plate hibiscus? :)
After I took the picture I picked up and plucked 80 blooms that had fallen or were done.

Your hibicus are the same size of ours Lee, There were only 5 or 6 booms on it today, I think fall is just around the corner/
So tell us Mike, do you get slugged by Fay very often for not listening
Not too often Lee, about every other day and more often when she is in a good mood. Fay and my conversation always start with what?????

(did you catch that)
Pardon? Me too Lee
I sat out side and the weather channel had us at 84, sure didn't feel like it, it felt much cooler.

Hello Kathi, are you still in Krogers, you should be running out of money soon..:emoticon 0112 wondering:

Today I spent WAY TOO MUCH MONEY at Kroger’s. It’s crazy and there are only 2 of us in this house. Granted some items were long lasting and necessary.
Here’s a picture of the Fake Vent on the peak of the garage. I like it a lot. And a picture of some of the peaches we bought.96E23C64-1E5A-454B-997A-A36849CE03A2.jpegC9CEA396-FFBC-470D-85E7-B554F808160F.jpeg

Our Ashley leaves for her vacation to Italy on Saturday and her parents and Eric leave for a vacation to somewhere in “OHIO”. I get the job of watching Manny at his own house. That’s so he’s comfortable and it won’t be necessary to pack up half the house to bring him to our place. I see a lot of book reading for me. Art will come over after his bike ride.
Mike: As soon as I find out where the kids are going in Ohio I‘ll be sure to let you know.

You all have a good Thursday.

Good morning.
The vent looks good Kathie. It adds a bit of a focal point to the garage and roof line. Safe travels to the kids and grandkids wherever they are headed. Pet parents are a funny lot. We either, as you said, move half the house if they go to stay with someone OR we have a very trusted family member or friend come into “their“ home.
We’re headed for another run of hot humid weather here Mike. Our fear is that it will go from the summer highs in the upper 80’s to highs in the fall temperatures in the mid 50’s over the course of a day or two. There are still lots of buds and new blooms on our hibiscus.
On our early walk this morning I had to stop and point out to Ava that bunnies DON’T have a white stripe or raise their tails at us! Fortunately I noticed “Pepe LePew” in ample time to cross the street. I can tell you that had we been sprayed my post would not have started with the word
“Good”. ;)
Lu-Ann has chair yoga this morning after our trip to The Navy Yard. I have laundry to tend to. This afternoon we too will go to the grocery store and spend too much.
Have a good day everyone.

Somehow I managed to get this ugly job done, along with a few others.

I'm about to head into the shower!!

Lee: REAL FEEl here is 93F right now. CRAZY and only to get worse. I guess I should be happy I'm in a A/C house scrubbing floors today! NOT!!
Glad you skipped getting POOFED by the Skunk. Whew!

I'm out of here for now. After I clean up I think I'm going to go over to my Nephews DIVE BAR and have a sandwich and Bloody Mary!

Enjoy that sandwich and Bloody Mary Kathie. It seems like you’ve earned it. It seems that we feel between 90F and 95F depending on which weather service you look at.
We have another “full house” on our hibiscus today Mike. In the other corner we have a big hydrangea and it’s loaded with blooms!

Lee, our hibiscus flowers are just about only 4 today with one bud showing some red Your hydranges are looking great. I wonder with you living farther north you get more sunsbine than we do. Didn't pepele pew chase sylvester the cat or was it some other unlucky cat.
Thanks for t he beautiful flowers Kathi. your fake vent looks very nice and it looks lke it is dead center. I hope you enjoyed your bloody mary. Are they habit forming. When I was a teenager we had a peach tree in our backyard then a volunteer grew up in our front yard next to the porch.
Have a good night.

It is already humid this morning. Ava and I were up and out a little earlier than usual. When I’m out just predawn I wear my reflective “suspenders”. They do restrict the natural air flow in and on my shirt but safety first!
I think Pepe was always painting a stripe on Sylvester to make him look like a skunk too Mike. There may have even been a female cat who was the target of their affections.
How and what was for dinner with your Mary yesterday Kathie?
A observation from our early walk. You all can skip this if you want. Today is recycle day. I was amazed at the number of Amazon boxes in recycle bins. I ALWAYS remove, tear and throw out our labels. Now, considering how easy it seems for “the bad guys” to get information that can lead to identity theft, I was amazed how many of the boxes still had the address labels on them. Clearly visible with people’s names, address, phone number, order number etc. Seems like a pretty easy way to gather personal information if I was up to no good. Safety first my friends! Remove those delivery labels.
That’s about all from here. Drumfit today and then we have a few things to pick up. Friends from Ayr are going to be in the area tomorrow and we invited them for a BBQ.
You fine folks all have a great Friday.

Good Morning.

I was up way too early this morning and opened the back "slider door" (also known in these parts as a Doorwall) and it was rather pleasant outside. I left it open w/the screen of course, but it's closed now. I can feel the humidity building up.

Lee posted: How and what was for dinner with your Mary yesterday Kathie?
It was a late lunch more than dinner and Miss Mary was perfect along with a bar hamburger!
Mike: Bloody Mary drinks are more REFRESHING than HABIT forming!! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

Our Ashley leaves for Italy at around 6:30pm. She is totally excited about this trip with her best friend and the girls family. So nice of them to ask her to hang with them for 8 days.

I have sent her video's of the Pick pocketer's in Rome. They are usually girls and they hang out in groups of up to 8 and push and pump, etc and distract people and steal their wallets or cell phones, etc. The police don't seem to do anything about it, so there is a group of citizens that try and embarrass the gangs by shouting out "PICK POCKET" and blowing whistles when they see them in the train areas. Sometimes they get them to throw down peoples wallets and it works out good for those folks. CRAZY how you have to be so aware of things like that.

Lee LOVE, LOVE your Hydrangea plant. I love the pointed blooms. We have one that has very round blooms. I've seen a two-tone pink and white pointed one in our neighborhood that I'm going to try and ask for a stem to try and grow it. It's suppose to be very easy from the video's I've seen on line.

As for the labels on boxes and mail and flyers I TAKE THEM ALL OFF. I also have one of those ink rollers that makes it impossible to decipher what the print is under it. I use that on Medicine bottles before tossing them in the recycle bin. You just can't trust anybody these days.

Enjoy your day folks.

Good evening Hutch Mates!

I sent a Coffee Mug to our Hutch Mate …Karen! She got it today! :clap002: Karen sent me a note of “thanks” and said things are still crazy with her sister. I can’t remember if it was Barb or Jane.
Anyways, she is a busy girl and has a lot on her mind. She did say she hasn’t abandoned us or forgotten us either. She’s just got a lot on her mind. She did say her sister IS GETTING THE CARE SHE HAS NEEDED FOR A LONG TIME.

I know it would be hard to be UPBEAT and CHEERFUL when you are worried about a family member.

Here’s a picture of the coffee mug I sent her. Very girly !!

Note the map of Florida & Michigan and our names. Cute.

Okay that’s my evening update. Tomorrow is suppose to be BEASTLY again. :coolvb:

Night all.

One of the Detroit Lions players took a head/neck hit in tonights 1st preliminary game in Atlanta, Ga. They took him off the field in a ambulance and suspended the game. Not something I’ve ever seen before.

My dear friend, Elaine, is again in the hospital. She just can’t get a break. This time she said she was in near screaming pain in her back. She als said she wanted to just die when she was laying flat on the MRI machine for over a 35 mins. OUCH!
Take care of yourselves folks.
Our Ashley is now 3.5 hours into her 9 hr flight. Not sure I could handle a flight that long without being “knocked out cold”. o_O

Kathie, what a kind and lovely gesture sending that mug to Karen. I sometimes think with everything going on in all of our lives at any given time “The Hutch” is the one place I can come for a quiet moment and usually a smile.
We’re into another “heat event” that could last through Wednesday morning. People everywhere in town are just plain done with the hot, humid conditions.
Other than a “hi” to Mike and Karen I don’t have much this morning.
Everyone have a fantastic Saturday.

I’m sitting out on the deck and enjoying the ”slight“ breeze while it’s still pleasant out here. I can feel the heat creeping up as I Post! I watered all the back yard flowers yesterday and as soon as I’m done with my coffee I’m going to do the front.
I love our new Bamboo shade that we use if we sit out anytime after 6:00 pm when the Sun creeps through the trees/shrubs from the West. The 1st one we had lastest at least 20 years, so I think this one should out-live us! :crazy01: Here are some pictures to keep you guys occupied on this HOT morning.
The shade didn’t show up that good, but you get the idea. It rolls up and down and wasn’t expensive. The Black-eyed Susans just keep blooming and spreading each year. :emoticon 0115 inlove:

ENJOY YOUR DAY. TONIGHT i go over to Manny’s to start my Pooch Sitting on Sunday. I’ll go tonight so I don’t have to get up real early on Sunday to be there on time! Let the dog spoiling begin! Ha Ha.

Thanks as always LEE.
I can’t take the credit for how nice it looks. That’s ALL ART’s WORKING! He picks away at weeds, etc almost everyday. The heat doesn’t bother him like it does me.
ENJOY THE DAY!
