Good morn ... oops ... afternoon, gang! Pretty day outside now, but it sure wasn't earlier. Woke me up to loud thunder and torrential rain. Even Bert heard it, so that tells you something!

Still not feeling that great. Just took the first water pill, so you know where I'll be spending the better part of my day. The kids were supposed to be coming for dinner and to watch the first half of the football game. I asked them not to come as I just don't feel up to entertaining tonight.

Karen - That really stinks that the lawyer screwed up and now everything has to be redone.

Dave & Lee - We'll probably have the super bowl game on, but really won't be rooting for either team. I just hope it's a good game.

Time to get off here and have some lunch. Have a wonderful day, gang, and stay safe! :)

Good afternoon as well....

Pat, that sure was some wicked storms that rolled thru last night...one woke me up around 3 & I thought for sure the guy in the ark was going to come rowing by any minute....sorry you are still not feeling up to snuff...don't wait to long to see a Dr. again if the meds don't kick in soon...

Lee, when I was reading your intro about the book you bought for Lu-Ann I was half expecting to see the author was Anne Murrary...another great Canadian singer & author...

Dave, sounds like Kathi is spending to much time watching the informercials on tv :D:eek: ....I have a digital thermometer I bought at the Dollar Tree...that's as high tech as I want to be...

After I finally went back to sleep this morning from the storm I actually slept in till nearly 9 am....that's almost unheard of for me...woke up to sunshine & blue skies....until I finished my coffee & decided to head out for my walk...then it was grey & windy...but the temp was good for a brisk walk...and the rain stayed away...now it's back to bright & sunny...
I doubt I will spend anytime watching the super bowl...normally I would root for Tampa....but this year it just doesn't interest me...
Hope everyone has a great day!

Sorry to read that you’re still not up to snuff Pat.
I was looking at one of my weather sites (Windy) and on the “rewind” could see the storms that crossed FL.
I got a nice surprise when I stopped by our book shop Karen. The copy of the book I ordered for Lu-Ann was signed by the author! The owner, Richard, is pretty well “connected” so I really shouldn’t be surprised he had a couple.
Now, as The Riddler would ask, “Riddle me this Batman. Why is the Super Duper Bowl preamble twice as long as the game?”
Time to see if my brownies are ready to be cut...and sampled of course.

Good Evening Wrabbits! I missed you ALL. Thanks for all the condolences for Mark's Brother. Mark is taking this a little hard, but with Zoom we got to talk with him and will see the entire family tomorrow at the funeral home for a quick walk by. A quick sympathy to his wife (2nd wife, first one passed away) and out the door we go. Then Tuesday a 10 a.m. CATHOLIC funeral service. (If you've ever been to one they are as long as a Serbian Sunday services if not longer. The church is huge and we will be sitting away from everyone....trust me on that one. Then off to the Health Dept to get our 2nd Covid Shot at 2:00 pm.
Full day. I'll be praying in church that both Art and I don't get too much of a reaction or fever. Most people say it ether kicks the *&)*_ out of and you aches and pains and fever or you just fell tired. I'm hoping for the TIRED!!

BB: I'm sorry to read that you aren't feeling up to par. Make sure you check in with your doctor about the new drugs. Don't wait too long.

OKAY about the pill taking issue:
I figure if you Eat Breakfast at 8:00 am'ish then no pill until 10:00 am.
or if you Eat Lunch at 12:00 pm'ish then no pill until 3:00 pm.

Am I close?? I was never a BRAIN CHILD at MATH!!

DAVE: Good luck with that new Thermometer. Just be glad it's not going anywhere that the SUN DOESN'T SHINE! :eek:o_O

Karen: I just can't believe the bad luck you've had with the LAWYER from HE*L regarding the paperwork on your DAD's HOUSE in OHIO. He's just lucky he's not dealing with me. Hope it all works out soon.

Lee: So is it COLD enough for you and the pups. Hopefully, they were able to go into the yard do their business and run back into the house! It's only going to get worse the next few days. If you do go out make sure to have a big scarf around your face to avoid WIND BURN and Frost Bite.

Bill/Rita: Good to know that FLEW into town and got your COVID Vaccines and Flew back out. I give you a lot of credit for following through on getting those shots.

Nancy sent me a quick note from the place she got her 1st Covid shot at yesterday. She said that her son JOHN took her and stayed with her. They are doing a good job of watching her right now. Still hard to believe we won't be getting LATE AFTERNOON posts from California anymore. (It was about 9:00 am over there and 12:00pm over here when Tony would usually post.......if he posted)

Okay, my choice for the Super Bowl is the Kansas Chiefs. WHY??? Only because we have a rather large group of Serbs that we know from choir trips and going to their church when we were guests for their concerts. So my Good Kansas Friends get my vote for the Chiefs!

You all have a great day and be safe. Stay warm too. It seems like Florida is crappy this past week and LEE we aren't missing much right now! LOL

BB: FEEL BETTER or call the doctor. Thanks.

Kathie, was a nice surprise to come in & see a post from you...if the Ohio lawyer doesn't get his act together soon I may put you on retainer to deal with him...it just blows my mind that he would just drop important documents in the MAIL and then wait 6 weeks with no follow up....of course he has his money up front...so he could care less...
Time to get comfy & call it a night...going over to Jane's in the morning to try & get some more stuff done outside...it's going to be warmer tomorrow, so not sure if I will get all done or not...

Hello to all,

K2,sorry about Mark's brother, but he may have been spared a lot of discomfort if he had to go thru chemo and all.
It's definitely not a pleasant ting to go thru.

I don't know if I am having a reaction to the set or not. We got it Thursday and flew home Friday morning. Friday night I went to bed at 8.......and that's not me. Yesterday i went to lay down at 5 and woke up at 11 p.m. Read for a halfhour and didn't get u until 10_30, and believe me I didn't want to get up. Don't know if it the shot or the whirlwind we were on. Im off to bed to watch the second half.

Sun came out here just as I reached my car to go to the grocery store. Figures

So much for the Chiefs being favored in the Super Bowl and that it would be a close game. Congratulations to the Buccaneers, Brady, and their fans. Wasn't impressed by the 1/2 time show, and didn't think any of the commercials as memorable.

Lee; If you weren't able to see the American commercials, you didn't miss anything.

Hope you are feeling a lot better today, BB.

I'm also hoping that you are feeling better, Rita. I haven't yet had either of the shots but I had heard that the first shot mostly makes your arm hurt a bit with a little tiredness, but the second shot can put you close to down for a couple of days.

Pleased to hear from you K2. A rough time for you, but we all know that you are strong and will get through it.

Don't overdue it at Jane's today, KC. Sometimes you forget that you are retired.

Oh ....... congratulations to Kathi too for picking the Buccaneers to win.

Time to STRETCH those old bones and get out of bed Wrabbits!
1612791993758.png

Well folks..........it's WINTER......8F when I got out of bed earlier. That's just down right COLD.
Pure Michigan at it's WORSE!

I didn't like much of anything about the Super Bowl. The anthems they sang were horrible. Why can't they just do a nice clear simple version. 1612792611808.png

I jacked up the heat in this house to 70F this morning! The GAS company is going to LOVE the fact we stayed home this Winter. Normally right now our heat is set at 50F while we are in Florida. Not happening this year. I'll be paying the PIPER BIG TIME!

Not much on the "To Due List" for today. Load of white clothes and I could do some bill paying. NAW.....that can wait another couple of days.
We're suppose to start to get SNOW around 4pm. Just about the time we planned on going to the Funeral Home cross-town. We might have to change that and leave a little earlier.
Not staying long to begin with, but going through Rush Hour traffic and SNOW falling is not my idea of fun.

BB: Sure hope you're feeling better today. If not please check with your doctor. Can't be messing around these days. Especially since you got new meds.:daisy:

Rita: Thank you for your kind words about Mark's brother.
So glad you got in and out as fast as you did for the vaccine. Sorry you had all the forced SLEEP put on you. Maybe it's what we should all do when we get the 2nd shot....SLEEP and let it do it's magic.
Post some pictures of your place and what you see from your back door!
Bill you must be ONE HAPPY CAMPER knowing your boy BRADY got another WIN and RING!

LEE: I've got a SOFT BUN RECIPE I want to share with you as soon as I re-write it. I made these nice soft buns and they turned out as good as our bakeries!
Made some homemade Sloppy Joe mixture and had that for Super Bowl dinner last night. Amazingly yummy! Those kind of soft buns are usually only good the first day they are made. I put 6 in the freezer to keep for another day. They would be great for sandwiches. Hope you and Lu-Ann and the pups are staying warm today. Brrrr. And get ready for a little snow late in the evening.

DAVE: The Commercials were bad and the Kansas City Chiefs were really bad. Glad I didn't have any money on them. I saw a lot of cars at various peoples houses yesterday when I went to get milk and a few other things during the game. YUP, I went to the grocery store during the GAME because it was so boring. Nice thing was the store was almost empty.
Has Kathi made anything like CHICKEN in her new Air Fry Gizmo? Keep us up to speed on how you like the food made in it.

I have nothing else for you WRABBITS right now. Need to give Art his eye drops.

Be safe and have a WARM MONDAY.

You've been a chatty group since I signed off last night! Nice to have plenty to read in the morning as I enjoy a cup of coffee.

Rita - That very definitely could be a side effect of the vaccine, but take advantage of any extra sleep you can get. I did my usual wake up at around 5 and it took a while for me to get back to sleep, but I did. Then got up at 8 but was still tired, so I went back to bed and slept until almost 11! That is unheard of for me, but I'll take it.

Dave - I thought the super bowl commercials were a big letdown also. The halftime show was terrible also. The poor Chiefs - They not only had to play the Bucs, they had to play against the refs. Their officiating was really questioning and some of their calls should never have been made. Congrats to the Bucs for a sizeable win.

Kathie - Be careful going to the funeral parlor this afternoon if the snows start to fly. Sounds like once again, you did a lot of baking yesterday. Good for you.

Karen - Don't work too hard at your sister's place today. I bet there will be a lunch included as payment, right?

Lee - How nice that the copy of the book you got was signed by the author. I've had a couple of them over the years.

Very cloudy here so far today. They aren't calling for much chance of rain, but it sure looks like it to me. Time will tell, I guess. Tummy is starting to rumble and that can mean only 1 thing - time for some lunch. Have a good day gang. Stay warm, stay dry, and stay safe! :)

Quick check in...worked about 4 hours at Jane's today & I'm beat...my niece told me the other day that 70 was the new 60...if that's true then in my case 60 must be the new 80 cause the little bit I did today whipped my butt....and that was with breaks & everything...back later after a shower & maybe a nap....

When will I learn? We were both up early this morning. I stupidly asked Lu-Ann if she’d like to go to Costco. It opens for Old Farts at 8:00. To your point last week Dave we came home with more stuff than was on MY list of stuff we needed. As I said, “When will I learn?”
The only commercials we had during Super Bore 55 were ”Skip The Dishes” “stay at home during covid” and a couple of local ads. I think it was early, very early in the 2nd quarter when after hearing “Brady and “Gronkowski” too many time I changed the channel. Even then I knew that the writing was on the wall for The Chiefs and saved myself the agony...
Many years ago Pat, I went to a bookstore in Toronto to meet a grown up Shirley Temple Black and get my Mom a signed copy of her book. Shirley’s book. Not my Mom’s. Mom didn’t write a book. I remember her as being a very gracious lady taking a moment with everyone. Back, of course, before cell phones and easy to use cameras!
I’ll pop you that email straight away Kathie. Are you sending me nice Serbian cookies and pastries? I’ll have you know Ma’am that I already have very soft buns. I’d prefer firm ones but...(you know Tony would have warned me to say that ;)) It’s not so much the cold we all have trouble with but the tons of salt The Town drops on sidewalks. Salt that winds up in The River.
Too bad that shyster got paid up front Karen. Here they take care of business and you get a bill outlining everything from their basic fees to photocopying, couriers, long distance charges and so on. I hope you were able to get stuff done at Jane’s.
Too funny. You popped in as I was commenting on your earlier post!
I hope you‘re both feeling better after the vaccine Rita. We still have no idea when it will be our turn.
Dryer just dinged. Better run.
Please, all of you stay safe!

Macomb.......checking out for tonight! We are getting a "lite snowfall" right now. Let's hope it stops soon.

If it's too snowy we will not be going to the funeral service. I totally don't want to go anyways. I don't go into my OWN church, yet alone go into one that I don't know how many people have been in and how they sanitize the place!

We will be going to get our 2nd SHOTS no matter what happens in the morning. I want to be able to feel somewhat vindicated regarding this %^&&$# COVID 19 VIRUS!

BB: You sound like you're feeling a lot better. I hope it continues.

Oh lucky us people in the north, it looks like this cold blast is going to last through the week and into next week. 20's, teens, and single digits.

I would freeze in your house K2. You set the thermostat at 70??? Here, during the winter Kathi sets it at 76, And when she's not looking I kick it up to 77. Inside is not where we should wear jackets and sweaters, outside is. And once the house is heated up, the walls the furniture and everything else holds that temperature quite well. Comfort for a month, in the long run, costs no more than one of those Starbucks fancy coffees.

I too would be happy if you posted the recipe for those soft buns. Your recipe, not Lee's buns.
1f601.png

I agree with you BB about the joy of a little extra sleep. Whether sleeping in late or a nap later. I'm not about to fight it like a little kid. Did you mention that book I recommended to Bert?

KC; A little bit at a time on projects still gets them done.

Meeting Shirley Temple Black must have been a thrill, Lee. And it's getting harder and harder to remember the time when there wasn't cell phones glued to everyone's hand. If I remember the time-line, first it was bottles of water everyone had to carry around. Then the cell phones replaced them. (Bottles of water sure were cheaper.)

Speaking of plastic bottles, we are taking them and newspapers down to the row of recycling dumpsters at the rec center this morning. Each dumpster for specifically one type of item. It's funny that we used to take all the plastic stuff in plastic bags and just throw the whole thing in the dumpster. Now they don't want any plastic bags in there. Aren't plastic bags made out of plastic?

When we get home Kathi wants to submit our grocery list to the store on the computer for tomorrow's pick-up. By the regular amount of bath soap and toilet paper we buy, we must have very clean butts and we smell like some pleasant fragrance.

Good morning Wrabbits!
We have made the decision to stay home from the church Funeral service this morning.
1. We went yesterday evening to the funeral hme.
2. It’s 10F outside right now. Snow is minimal.
3. We must have gathered enough germs last night to qualify us to stay hme today!
Everyone, including the deceased, had a Mask on. Or even double masks. The deceased had a mask on because his face was distorted from the Stroke he suffered. Otherwise, he wife would have had a ‘closed casket’.
Now we just need to wait until it’s time to go and get our 2nd vaccine.

:emoticon 0137 clapping: :D
Dave: I will get you the BUN recipe ASAP. And it won’t be Lee’s.
The reason they don’t want the “plastic bags” in the recycle bin is because those bags JAM UP their SORTING MACHINES big time. We have a recycle BIN that we put out next to the trash on Friday’s and a separate truck comes around and picks up the recycle STUFF in it. Each community does things differently.

I have been trying to dial the COVID APPOINTMENT LINE for my friend. All I keep getting is the BUSY signal. Such a dumb way of getting the dang appointment.

Spent way too much time last night looking for a Argus 540 Slide Projector. Art found his Navy slides from the Caveman Age and our projector is not working the slides through smoothy. Slides getting stuck. He has taken the machine apart 2-3 times already. it’s a antique and replacements on Ebay & other searches are not showing up a replacement. I found one in New Jersey, and the guy said he doesn’t ship. Good grief. I told him to take it to a UPS store and they would wrap it and ship it for him. I’d paynthe shipping cost. Haven’t heard back from him. LOSER!

It looks like the movie Dr Zavago Outside with the sun shining on the snowy trees. Always PRETTY from inside!
I’lo be back later......hopefully. We plan on coming home from the health dept and taking a Tylenol ASAP and Lying down.

Almost lost this post. Time to close down.

Good morning, everyone!

Rita & Bill - I will expect a check in the mail for this beautiful weather I am providing this week for you snowbirds! :D

Dave - I mentioned that book you told me about to Bert. He said that he will check to see if our library carries it. Depending on when it was from, they might not have it any longer.
I'm with you about putting the heat it 70 is way too low, but we don't make it as warm as you do either. Usually 72-73 for heat and AC is perfect for us. Right now the AC is the winner.

Kathie - Good idea skipping the funeral mass for Mark's brother. I'd do the same. You have me confused ... Why are you taking a Tylenol and lying down as soon as you get home after getting your shot? Never heard of that and there's no reason to do that and it would still take a couple of hours before you might feel any side effects from the shot. Most everyone I know didn't have any side effects until the next day when they felt very lethargic and had no energy. That too passed by after that day. Good luck with your method.

Feeling much better today. I guess the antibiotics are finally kicking in. Might actually get to not use oxygen all the time, which would make me very happy.

What a disappointment the chicken from Publix was last night. Bert went to get the wings that were on sale. They had none! Then he was going to get a box of fried chicken, but they didn't have any of that either. He bought all they did have - 1 wing, 1 leg, 1 thigh and 1 piece of breading. That cost just about $6.00! I'd have told them to keep it and ventured down the road to KFC, but he didn't think to do that, unfortunately. Needless to say, we were still hungry and ended up snacking for the rest of the evening.

I see by the clock on the oven, it's just about time for me to be able to have a cup of coffee. The antibiotic I'm taking, you can't have anything for 2 hours before and 1 hour after taking the pill. The hour is now up!!!

So on that note I'm going to pop out of here for now. Have a good day, no matter what you're weather conditions are. Take care and stay safe!:)

Good afternoon!
We had about an inch of light snow to sweep off the patio this morning. Then I went and shovelled off the driveway too. The back is for the pups. The front for me so it looks like the homeowner cares.
In the news...Alaska is mad at Canada. It has to do with our ban of cruise ships until at least 2022. That means that the ridiculous outdated maritime law requiring ships not flagged in the US to stop in at least one foreign port can't stop in Canada for their Alaskan Cruises. I suspect it's the same case for east coast cruises.
Very good to read that you're feeling better Pat. Just as well we're not in Florida. Seems Publix is out of fried chicken. I used to hate when you'd get a hankerin' for chicken and the two Publix close to us would have nothing but scraps. Usually we'd come home with wine. Strictly to drown our sorrows.
I think that you and Art made a good decision to skip the service too Kathie. Too many strangers there and you don't know who's in their bubble and where they have been. I looked on eBay for your slide projector. There's a guy in Kansas City, MO that has one. He wants $40 USD for it but shipping to Canada was $80 USD. Don't know if it would be cheaper to ship to MI.
https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Vintage-Arg...ector-Untested-/114658522692?oid=274560186087
The thermometer may say 21F here Dave but in the sun it's beautiful There's not that much wind either! The ice on The River is beautiful. There's a natural ice dam just north of town and the water is open down past town. As I. recall Ms. Temple Black was pretty down to earth. At least in dealing with the public that day. I'm sure that as an Ambassador she was well versed in how to properly treat and react tot people. Our recycling takes place every two weeks. We have one bin for cardboard and paper. The other bin is for glass, cans and plastic. Plastic bags go in the regular garbage. In Ayr we also had a green bin for kitchen and compostable waste. Including dog pooh. Guess which of our bins was always put out weekly! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:
Speaking of dog, well, you know...Time to let them out and pick up today's deposits. Tomorrow is garbage day so out it goes!
Hi to the rest fo the inhabitants of this fine hutch.
You all stay safe. Scrub your hands. And I hope that even after your COVID Vaccines you are all still wearing masks!
