Kathie - Our deepest sympathy to you and the Maxwells. Definitely not a good week in many ways. Know that we're all always here for you and are sending lots of love and hugs your way. Take care, my friend!

Kathie, I am so sorry to hear of Don's passing. Please pass our thoughts, prayers and condolences not only to you but also to Mark and his family.
It's been a hell of a week here for losing the patrons of some of our immediate families. In spite of that Dave, it is indeed A Wonderful World.
Here's another ice pic for Art.

For some unknown reason my mind is simply refusing to work right now. I know what I want to say but I can't get the thoughts from my wandering mind to my fingers.

I'm gonna try to figure it all out and get back a tad later.
Like Kathie said...Now is not the time to screw around and take chances.

All that talk of soup...well, I think I’ll bake some bread tomorrow and make some soup to go with it. Yes, I clean and the laundry too. But NOT in a French Maid outfit Dave.
It‘s so nice to see Dr Fauci smiling on TV for a change.
I feel good for America’s future and job creation. Why, just today President Biden talked of mending fences around the world. That ought create a lot of jobs.
G’nite everyone.

ps Kathie...Lu-Ann shared the video of the CDN CG ship under The Blue Water Bridge. Neat!!

So sorry to hear that Don passed, K2. But if, as you say, it was likely he wouldn't survive the stem cell transfer and chemo, he was saved a lot of misery in the long run. And his passing could be a blessing.

As far as just picking up our groceries, yes we do save money. It's amazing how many things we buy at grocery stores that are just impulse buys. Only rarely do they not have or just out of what's on our list. And about 1/2 an hour before our pick-up time they give us a call if they are out of an item on our list, and ask if there's something similar we'd like instead.

We tried out the Ninja air fryer yesterday. So far so good. The french fries were just as crisp and tasty as if we deep fried them in oil. Plus there's none of those oil spatters on the counter. Not sure what we'll cook in it next.

Yes Lee, it is so comforting to see Fauci speak. And know he's being candid and not limited in what he can say. As Fauci said, "It's refreshing". And it's also calming to see Biden returning to diplomacy and cooperation with countries around the world.

I forgot to mention something about the surgeon that's doing my carotid artery. That guy has a sense of humor. When he said that he's doing the surgery, as a joke I asked him, "Are you any good at this?". He laughed and held out a very steady hand to show me how calm he is about doing this kind of surgery again. Then he held out his other hand which was shaking badly and said, "BUT this is the hand I use during surgeries.".

I'm getting excited by GM and Ford hoping to only make electric vehicles in about 15 year. Some new and improved battery is making this possible. That oil company Kathi and I worked for is seeing the future by starting to put electric charging "pumps" at their gas their stations. As time goes by we'll see gas stations slowly evolve into mostly charging station.

Remember decades ago when they first started tinkering around with making electric cars. At that time they were nothing more speeded up golf carts. Now they'll have all the other bells & whistles too.

Time for me to go out and hug a tree.

Good morning, everyone! Just a quick post right now, as I have to head for the pulmonologist's office this morning. Finally getting in for the follow up on my hospital stay.

I'll be back later. :)

Dropping bye quick from here as well.
For the first time in more February's I can remember I'm going out to fire up the snow thrower. It never snowed in FL in February when we were there. We got some snow and a little freezing rain so darned if I'm gonna bust a hump with a shovel. While my Old Bear loves his snow, Katie isn't as fond of it and Ava's little butt is closer to the ground so she really isn't a fan!
Don't get all flustered and in a rush to see the pulmonologist Pat. Just relax and breath deep. :emoticon 0105 wink: Oh ya...I found a couple of mixed questions and answers in Boom Again. It had to do with Steve McGarrett's tag line and the name of a talk show host. I took pics of the cards and let The Boom Again Team know. I got back a fantastic, humorous reply.
Funny thing Dave, when I shop I get what's on my list. So to your point if I shop we save money. It's the "Hunter vs Gatherer" theory. Much as the employees with your list "hunt" and bring you only what you ask for. I think I like that surgeon. Unless he's NOT kidding!!
I can hear all of The Belles now. "Well what fun is that?" I got news for you. Masked and distanced shopping just isn't fun anymore!
OK, that snow thrower waits for no man. Well, I guess it does because it's waiting for me.
Today is remote trivia day so the day may slip away.
That said, all of you have a fantastic day. If you're out stay two Greyhounds away from everyone else. That's a good six feet. :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

I'm back!! More meds. Oh goodie!!! The past 2 days my O2 has been running low and I've had to keep the mask on all day. Good day to have an appointment, huh? Back on antibiotic and a water pill. Seems like amlodipine dose I'm on causes swelling in my legs, just as I told the cardiologist it would, but he gave it to me anyway. Today the pulmonologist said that's what's causing the dwelling and that I need either a lower dose or a different med.

Don't remember which of you guys asked what type of books Bert likes to read. Here's a hint: NCIS, NCIS New Orleans, NCIS (Gibbs) Blacklist, and Blue Bloods. He likes mysteries, murder, anything having to do with misdeeds in and around the government, and any books written by Paterson, Baldacci, etc. We definitely do not read the same kind of books!

Lee - I can answer both of those BOOM questions! Watched Hawaii Five-O and lots of late night TV!

Karen - How did your plants make out with the freeze the other night? I think mine all survived. Not yet sure about the tomato plant though, as Bert hasn't gone out to check it.

This should be a week Bill & Rita will love after our winter this past week. Temps will be in the 70s & 80s. Only downside is that there's a good chance of a sprinkle or two most days. I guess you can't have everything.

Supposed to meet friends for dinner tonight at the Grille, but that still remains to be seen as to whether or not we go. Right now it's time for lunch, so once again, I'm out of here. Be good!! :)

Well Pat, at least you were having difficulties when you had the appointment. Not like taking a car in for service and the techs can’t find anything! Sorry more pills are involved though. As a matter of fact I‘m wearing a bright red hoodie!
With the game cards, they mixed the answers in one category only on two consecutive cards. The answer to the Five-0 question, on the card, was Tom Snyder. The talk show host answer, again on the card, was Book ‘em Danno. Today we found a card asking about police shows. One of the shows they were looking for was “Kodak”. It may have been filmed on Kodak film but I think they were looking for “Kojak”.
Our soup and Cheese and Onion Beer Bread was pretty tasty!
All of you stay well!

Lee - Sorry you ran into some screwy cards in BOOM Again. Haven't seen that when we've played.

Back from the Grille with a full tummy. Time to get off here for tonight and get comfu. See you all in the morning. :)

Chilly, chilly here this morning. And it won't go above the lower 20's all day. The only good thing about today's weather is that it'll be sunny all day.

So Lee, did the snow-blower fire right up for you? I'd totally forgotten about that TV show, "Kojak". I'm thinking that Telly Savalas was most famous for playing Maggot in "The Dirty Dozen".

A few more meds sure beats another procedure, BB. Interesting the type of books Bert reads. Sorry, I didn't wear any red yesterday. I can never keep up with all the different "Today is ....Day". Hell I can barely remember the name of the week it is.

Hi to the rest of you Bunnies.

Nothing planned today other than a few minor chores.

A balmy 12F but with the wind chill it feels more like -4F. Never mind the snow thrower firing right up, all I had to do was step out with the dogs and I fired right up.
Yes Dave, that old Toro barked in to life after one pull. It's got to be at least 25 years young. I am noticing that the drive mechanism isn't as good as it used to be. Oh wait, that's me! Our's isn't self propelled but it still does the job!

"Today is ....Day"
"Satur"
And, just because...

Time to check out the walk ways around town. Even with the sun I don't imagine we'll be out for too long!
Back later but in the mean while, you all be good.

Good morning, everyone!

A grey rainy type day here in Florida. A good one to snooze through. Wish I had done that last night. I had less than 4 hours sleep. :sleep002: Don't ask why, as I just woke up and couldn't go back to sleep. This is going to be a very long day for me.

The temperatures some of you are mentioning is giving me the chills. Add to that the idea of shoveling snow is not my idea of fun at all!! Stay warm, gang, and just remember, spring will show up one of these days. :D

Lee - Thanks for a reminder of such a great song. Every word of it is so true.

Dave - This new antibiotic is a real pain. You can't take it for 2 hours after eating or 1 hour before you eat. Also can't have milk during that time frame either. I fixed a cup of coffee for myself and put milk in it and then remembered about no milk. Guess who has a cold cup of coffee sitting here? ME!!!

Time to read the newspaper and see what's happening in the world. Have a great Saturday, everyone!:)

Pat, can you use non dairy creamer in your coffee? What about almond milk or something like that?
We went for a VERY short walk in the park this morning. Katie had no interest in being there at all. Came home and headed to the grocery store for a few things, got a couple of little burgers at A&W, grabbed a coffee at Starbucks and headed home. I did a pooh patrol of the back yard ahead of what we expect to be another 1 1/2" of snow overnight.
I did spend part of the afternoon with a coffee and reading a bit of "Relax Dammit" by Timothy Caulfield. We saw his series "A Users guide to Cheating Death" which was very well done and not at all what one may expect!
On the topic of not at all what one may expect I find it odd that we haven't seen Kathie or Karen for a bit. Should we worry?
You all keep those hands washed and masks on, ya hear?

Good evening....

Lee, not to worry....I expect our Kathie has her head & hands full with her family right now, with the passing of Mark's brother...but hopefully she will pop back in soon ....

Pat, do you sometimes feel like the medical community is out to kill you?? Take this pill...take that pill....and all the side effects it's a wonder any of us are still hanging around...hope they get you & your meds sorted out soon!
Got your card today too...thanks for the tip...:D:D

Dave, nice that you have Kathi for back up on snow blower detail...any luck on shaking out a refund from Royal yet? Glad to hear the air fryer is living up to your expectations...so far...

Kathie...you know we are thinking of you...and sending lot's of Hugs & prayers your way!!

I've been following along with you all...just seem to get distracted and never get back to post....
Still having issues with my Dad's estate in Ohio...we thought the lawyer had filed the paper work with the probate court on 12/28....I found out last Monday that he had MAILED the paper work on 12/28 and as of Feb. 1st they had not received the packet!! Talk about being ticked!!! After all the hassle I went thru to get the paperwork to him....he mails it off instead of taking to the courthouse & filing it...he has the back up set of paper work...but I had missed signing one of the forms so I will need to mail that off if the packet doesn't get delivered soon...AND he will have to request new certified copies from Florida on the probate findings here....what a mess...
Been raining here for about an hour & got a call from Marion Alert we are under a tornado watch until midnight...always something.....stay safe & warm bunnies...we'll get thru this eventually!

I was thinking that you were up to your ankles in something Karen. Seems you are AND you're in head first! How frustrating that you scramble to get things tended to and the lawyer screws up. I'd sure be going over his charges with a fine tooth comb!
No doubt Kathie is tending to Mark and Jill. This danged virus makes taking care of so many things a nightmare. Like it's not tough enough dealing with the loss itself.
We also heard today that there will be NO cruise ships allowed to docking Canada until 2022. What do they know that the rest of us are not being told?
Off now until tomorrow. I have a book to pick up at the book store for Lu-Ann. She is a real fan of Canadian singer / song writer and all around GREAT story teller Jann Arden. I decided to surprise her with Jann's book. I am not a big fan of her music but love the way she recounts stories about her life.
Be good!

Super Bowl Sunday! YEA!

At the moment the Chiefs are favored by 3 points to beat the Buccaneers. I'm thinking it will be a close game and I'm sticking with the Chiefs. Now if they can only get these brainless football fans from having large, maskless Super Bowl parties.

Time to check in K2. You've been missing too long.

Thanks for posting that video Lee. Not only a great song but the first time I've seen that video of the 4 great singers. Happy to hear that your snow-blower fired right up.

WAY too many rules for taking that one pill, BB. I thought of a book I really like that Bert might also enjoy. "Marine Sniper" by Charles Henderson. It's about the top Marine sniper in Vietnam. The Marine's name is Carlos Hathcock.

No luck so far on getting a cruise refund, KC. May just have to use it to book a cruise in 2022. And just when I thought you were just about done settling your Dad's estate, things go south again. Geesh!

Kathi once again has dragged me kicking and screaming into buying another somewhat high tech item. She got a forehead testing thermometer. And there I was, perfectly happy with our old reliable thermometer that you put in your mouth. Well, she never better lose the instructions that came with this new gadget.

Worked fine, right out of the box. Then she went to use it a day later showing a temperature you know isn't right. Somehow it had shifted from fahrenheit to celsius. So I had to dig out the instructions on how to get it back to what we wanted.

Then, once again, it was showing us oddball temperatures. Now what??? This time it had shifted from the human temperature setting to showing the temperatures of objects. (Am I to be taking the temperature of our stapler?) Out comes the instruction manual AGAIN.

I got your high tech thermometer, right here!!!

“Are you ready for some football” The Master used to ask. Darned tootin’ I am. And as politically incorrect as I may be I’ll be cheering on The Chiefs.
I don’t know if I’ll get the US commercials or not. Our CRTC (airwaves police) have a silly rule that if a show is on both US and CDN networks at the same time the provider is obliged to carry the CDN feed. Oh well...
Sometimes my ever wandering mind slips a cog and I wonder if Texaco could still sell “Sky Chief” gasoline. Would you be able to put it in your Pontiac with the Indian Head hood ornament?
Thank Heaven for the internet Dave. Even if you misplace the paper instructions Dr Google can point you to the manufacturer! Just think, when things open up again you’ll be able to go to the buffet, check the host’s temperature, check the temperature of both hot and cold selections and if that seafood sat out too long check Kathi’s temperature on the way home all with one handy gadget!
How you feelin’ today Pat?
Hi to everyone else. I’ll try to check back later to make sure everyone is well.
Stay away from big, unmasked Super(spreader) Bowl parties! Ya’ hear!!
