Return of the Cruising Bunny's....

Um, Dave...was there a “hen” party and they didn’t invite us “roosters”?
We don’t have an air fryer but our friends have one. They rave about it much as Kathie loves her Food Saver. They use a tiny bit of oil in the fryer and get amazing, so they say, results. Glysomed is the hand cream we have here. Somebody told me about Avon skin so soft too. Or was that to keep mosquitos away?
Bye for now.

Good afternoon, gang! Where the heck is today going to? I feel like I just got up and it's already mid afternoon. I guess that's what happens when you sleep until 10:30!!

Kathie - Will keep Mark and his brother in our prayers also that all will go well during the procedure.
Are you due to get any of that snowstorm that's crossing the country this weekend? If so, stay home and stay safe by not going out driving around.

Dave - My ducks were not only in a row, they were delicious. They were almost sold out by the time we got to the Grille. Only thing we did not like that much was that instead of mashed potatoes with the duck, they had scalloped potatoes in a separate bowl. Manager asked me what I thought of them and I told him mashed would have been better with the duck. We brought some of it home and that will be dinner tonight.
When the manager said they were almost out of the duck, I told him that someone needed to get out on Lake Toho early this morning to shoot a few more docks. When I first woke up at 7 this morning, I could hear shooting out on Toho and had to laugh, even though I know no one from the Grille was hunting.

Karen - Afghan looks very nice and that was a good idea to wash it before sending it off as a gift. Smart thinking on your sister's part.

Lee - That picture showing all that ice was enough to give me the chills. Once again it's pictures like that that remind me as to why we live in Florida and not up north any longer.

Heading out for a bit. I'll be back later.

Good AFTERNOON folks. Brrr cold here AGAIN today.

BB: We are suppose to get the EDGE of some of the Snowstorms flying around the country. About 2" in this area if we're lucky enough to miss the BIG STUFF that is in Chicago and going to be OUT EAST. Good luck to Bill and RITA whenever they're flying back home.

Glad your DUCK DINNER was good. I would have went with the Scalloped potatoes. Ha ha.

Karen: EXCELLENT looking AFGHAN! And a NICE BIG size too. That must have taken Jane a long time to finish.....Tell her from me she did a good job. Can I ask how much it cost to ship something that heavy?? o_O

LEE: Thanks for posting the pictures of the ICE JAMS. As soon as the temps get back up into the 30's around here Art and I will have to take a drive to Lake St Clair area and pull over to our favorite viewing spot and look at the ICE FLOATING down the lake. It's amazing how with the wind pushing the ice around it builds up and makes beautiful ice sculptures. I give you a LOT of credit for being able to go out in the FREEZING COLD and WIND by the waters edge! YIKES....too cold for me.

SKIN SO SOFT by Avon is used to keep Mosquito's away! LOL

DAVE: If Kathi ever does buy a AIR FRYER , and we all KNOW SHE WILL, please let us know how she and YOU like it. I would think it's 100 times better than DEEP FRYING for your health. Not too sure about taste!! Ha Ha.

Regarding the cracked fingers! Art gets them REALLY BAD this time of the year. Like they crack and and even bleed at times. I have found that rubbing any good hand cream with lanolin in it and then putting on light weight clear plastic throw away type gloves and sleeping with them makes a world of difference. If you don't have the throw away cheap plastic gloves (they sell them in the area of the store where you buy sponges, rubber gloves, etc) use a plastic bag and tape it. You have to do this for a few days to get the cracks to start to get soft and heal. Good luck. $1.49 for 10 at Krogers.

DAVE: You can get a 10 PK of these in the area where they sell regular Rubber Gloves and sponges in most stores. You might have something like this around the house already. $1.49 for a 10 Pk at our Krogers. Good luck. Just keep putting on hand cream. Got any CBD ointment around try that too and put the gloves on. Your hands will soon be as smooth as a Babies Butt! LOL Ha Ha.

I'm off to deliver 98 yr old NICK some home made Serbian Sponge Cake. He loves it and I haven't taken anything and dropped it off on the IN-TAKE BENCH in awhile. The people sanitize the outside of the package/bag and then deliver it to his apartment. They're trying to keep those old folks VIRUS FREE, but they're still on lock-down and NO VISITORS. We haven't seen NICK since April in his room. SAD. Just like my brother in Chicago. Be glad you all can get outside and move around even if it's limited.

Good evening...busy day around here today...this is the first chance I've had to check in....

Dave, back in the day when we lived in Ohio Larry used to use a hand lotion called Corn Huskers...it didn't smell all fancy....but it sure did the trick on dry cracked hands...it's still around today...so it must be pretty good....
I don't have an air fryer...but have a few friends who swear by them...I'm saving up my Crowdtap points to buy me one...

Lee, you know we would never throw a party & not invite you...you are our favorite in house chef!!

Pat, glad to hear your dinner at the Grille was a hit....I've had duck once or twice...but not really a fan...it always seems to greasy to me..but it could be how it was prepared too...

Kathie, I'm sure Nick will be thrilled to get some of your baked goodies...Bless you for taking the time to brighten his day, even if you can't visit!
The shipping for the afghan wasn't that bad..$17 thru UPS...it was big..but it was made with baby yarn so it wasn't super heavy...

Another brisk morning here this morning...but I got up & out on my walk anyhow...the sun was bright so it didn't take long to warm up at all...then I came home & vacuumed out my poor little truck...cleaned the windows & the dash & then put armor all on all the vinyl parts...looks like a new truck again...
After all that I was starving so I made myself some pancakes, with eggs & bacon... for lunch...
The new vet came this evening as scheduled...and I like her a LOT...very thorough...and very kind...asked a lot of questions...and really seemed to listen to the answers...during the exam she asked multiple times if I had any questions or other concerns about Scooter....and the cost for the visit...$90....not bad at all...of course I donated another $141 to Chewy for the Flea medicine they needed...but considering the other place was going to charge me $145 just to see her I felt this was a deal...so happy to have found another vet that is as caring as my old vets have been....now I think I am going to get comfy & see if there is anything good on tv...if not...it may be an early evening for me....Stay safe all!

Today has really flown by, but don't ask me what we did. Ate the rest of the duck for dinner tonight. Found out that Cappi really likes duck too. Bert shared with him.

Just like Karen, it's now time to get comfy and see if there's anything on TV. I know that there's a new SNL at 11:30 which I want to stay awake to watch. This will be the first one with Joe as president and I can't wait to see who will be doing Joe.

Tomorrow is supposed to be a day with temps in the higher 70s, so I already said to Bert that, if we get up early enough, I will treat him to brunch at the Grille. We'll see how that works out.

Time for me to say good night and I will see you in the morning, if I wake up early enough! Have a good evening gang! :)

Oh goody goody, there's a pretty good chance of having snow fall all day today. Which started shortly after midnight.

Thank you Bunnies so much on your ideas for not only air fryers but also hand moisturizers. I can't remember why I originally bought them before this Covid thing, but I do have a box of those surgical gloves I can use with moisturizers at night.

Good for you on finding a Vet that you are happy with, KC. And shortly after finding a good eye doctor.

OK Dave, time to get off your butt and start some pathways out back for Big-Foot. Our "low-rider" hound.

Did I mention I really like this new vet? This morning I had an email from her with a complete exam record for Scooter's visit yesterday...for a lady that drives around in her car making house calls I think she is top notch!! Now I need to get my butt in gear & get my walk in....back later...

Good morning, y'all! Up bright and early today. So was Bert!! He must have remembered that I told him that if he got up early enough, I would treat him to brunch at the Grille. But the big question will be whether or not we do Mimosas while we eat? Though still a bit chilly, by the time we go the temps should be perfect for us to eat out on the patio!

Dave - I never got to answer your question about the air fryer yesterday. I don't have one, but have friends who have them and love using them for some foods. Biggest problem I have is where to put it. They can be rather large and take up a lot of room when not in use. If you get one, let me know which kind you get.
Keep warm and dry and for goodness sake, don't go out there doing too much shoveling of the snow.

Karen - Sounds like you found a real gem of a vet! Time to keep her phone number on speed dial.
Enjoy our weather today as things are about to change tonight when that cold front moves in. I am definitely not looking forward to the 3 days coming up which are all connected to the snows they are getting up north. They really didn't have to share with us!!!

I decided yesterday to see if there's any sign of them getting ready to ship our lazy Susan I told you about. Just for the heck of it, I hit track it. Turns out that instead of being scheduled to ship tomorrow, it will be delivered TODAY! What a surprise that was to me. Now I keep glancing at the front door looking for the FedEx truck to pull up. Can't wait to see how it came out. I'll try to post a picture of it later.

Kathie & Lee - Are the snows flying up you way also?

Haven't heard from Rita or Bill about when they are heading north. Saw a story on the news last night that Mass. is all screwed up with the vaccine being given. I hope they don't run into any problems.

Never got a chance to tell you that I got to talk to my brother, George, the other day. He's still in really bad shape. Chemo knocked him for a loop and he ended up in the hospital for 10 days. After being bed-ridden for 10 days, he was unable to walk. This was back in late November. He still is unable to walk, even after PT, and is still in a wheelchair and still getting chemo. He's hopeful that they will get to come down to their Florida house in April and may stay then for most of the summer. Bert said that if that doesn't work out as planned, we could drive up to NJ to see him there. Time will tell at this point. Please keep my brother in your prayers. Just the thought of a big strapping retired cop confined to a wheelchair tears me apart.

Time to get off here and get ready for brunch. I also have to make out a short shopping list of things I need from Publix for dinner tonight. It's a perfect day to do surf and turf, so that the menu for tonight.

Hopefully, it will be a quiet afternoon around here and I'll get a chance to drop by again later. In the meantime, have a good day, everyone, and stay safe! :)

Happy for you Karen. I know how much your Kitties mean to you!

Back from our brunch at the Grille. I am so stuffed!!! Even brought home the rest of the bubbly and orange juice. Couldn't finish the whole bottle between the 2 of us what with all the food and a pot of coffee. Not bad for $27.!!!

Now I think it's time to just go sit outside on the lanai and read. It's about 77 degrees, but it is rather windy, so I don't think I'll sit on the bar side which is near the corner of the house. The table is in a more protected spot. :)

A quick hello from the frosty north.
We have a skiff of snow but the winds make the 28F on the thermometer seem way colder than it is.
Not much on tap today. I’ll be brief...
Great to hear that your new vet is a keeper Karen.
Sorry to hear that George is having a rough go Kathie.
Looking forward to seeing your lazy Susan Pat. Our Boom Again is supposed to arrive tomorrow.
Happy trails to Big Foot after you clear a path in the yard. That‘s why we have long legged dogs.
Told you I’d be brief.
I see I’m now a carpenter.

Behave good people.

My goodness, it really IS February. And it's another day of more snow. Schools are all closed. But everyone still has their trash cans out by the curb. With the snow you learn not to tip it back and push it out there because it just acts like a shovel. You tip it back and PULL it to the curb so it can glide on top of the snow.

Come to think of it.......During this Covid period, I think that the trash goes out more than I do.

Lee; Your Bobby Darin video reminded me that there was a time when you could actually hear and understand the lyrics of a song.

I was wondering KC; On your walks, do you go for time or distance?

From your opinion and those of many others Kathi has decided to get an air fryer, BB. She asked her computer & gadget geek son which brand she should get. He recommended "Ninja". So she ordered it yesterday, and it should be here tomorrow.

Looks like Michigan is getting bypassed by this blast of snow, K2.

Another darned cool start to the day / work week / month! Not that any of us has to worry about the work week!
We watched “Finding Ohana” on Netflix last night. A cute little movie. My sharp eye picked out the character “George” as the grown up actor who played “Data” on The Goonies.
Some folks here have the wheeled bins Dave. The company that makes and sells them is “Herby Curby”. Most are green but you can get a pink one. I still use good old garbage bags. I miss the trash valet in FL that took our garbage and recycle bins to the curb and brought them back. You always knew if a house was rented and generating garbage depending on if the bins were at the curb.
Time to see if I can get Bear to eat his breakfast. I think he may be tired of the lockdown and is more finicky than usual with his food.
See you all later my friends.

Good morning, gang! This is going to be a very strange type day here in our area. As with where you live on most days the temperature goes up until it hits the high for the day and then goes down. I just checked what today will bring. Right now it's 63, at 11 it will be 62, at 12 it will be 61 and so on. At 2:00 it will be 58. What is wrong with this picture?

Sorry I never go to post a picture yesterday of the lazy susan. here it is for your viewing pleasure:

Sorry it came out so large, but you can really see the details. It came in handy last night being able to just turn it to get some part of our dinner without having to ask to have something passed to you.

Dave - I've heard that Ninja air fryer is the one most people are going for. You'll have to let us know how you like it.
So who's doing the shoveling of the snow at your house?

Lee - We don't have a choice any longer when it comes to putting our garbage out. Everyone got 2 large cans from the county and they are the only ones you can use. The new trucks have arms that come out and pick up your can, empties it and places it back on the ground with the cover closed. There's no longer anyone actually dumping your can into the truck. One can is for garbage and the other can is for recyclables and you better not use the wrong can or they will not pick up from you!

Not a lot on tap here today for me. Bert has to take the car in to have something checked that he just had repaired a few weeks ago. May be heading for Sam's to pick up a few things, including wine. Bert in his old age is developing a taste for wine these days. Now I have to share with him!!

I do plan to make a pot of split pea with ham soup in preparation of the big chill coming over the next couple of days. I hate though that the only kind of dry peas you can buy here are made by Goya. I try not to buy any of their products, if I can help it.

Well, if I'm going to get this soup made in time for lunch, I better get a move on and head for the kitchen. So for now I'm out of here, but will definitely try to stop back later. Have a good day, everyone, and stay warm! :)

Good afternoon....as I doubt I will get this finished before the clock strikes noon...

Pat, it sure is going to be soup weather here the next couple days!! What a difference a day makes...yesterday bright & sunny...today windy, cold & dreary...YUK! Love your new turntable...that is really cool!

Dave, we will be eagerly awaiting a review of your new Ninja....Walmart has one on clearance I think for $69....it's a 2qt 4 in 1 model, but I'm just not sure I'd use it enough to spring for the fancier one...
Regarding my walking...I mainly go for distance...I have a couple routes mapped out that are a mile long...one is all pavement & sidewalk & I can cover that in 10-15 mins....the other is thru a neighborhood with no sidewalk...so I have to walk on the grass...that one usually takes me about 20 mins...I have to go slower & watch the ground where I'm walking cause there are dips & ruts everywhere...

Lee, sure hope poor Bear's appetite improves...it's tough when our babies get depressed & don't want to eat...

Kathie, you were pretty quiet yesterday...hope everything is ok with you, Art & the family!!!

Early morning visit to the dermatologist this morning for my 6 month check up....she burnt 1 spot on my arm that I think was just a scare...but she zapped it anyway just to be on the safe side...she also spotted a mole on my leg she wants to watch...so I have to go back in 3 months to get it checked...it's on the back of my leg & I didn't even know it was there....I also got some kind of weird prickly rash on my back hip & inside my right arm...about a week ago...I felt something burning & stinging while I was out for my walk...thought maybe bug bites or something but didn't find anything when I got home....a day or so later this little blister like bumps showed up...again almost like a fire ant bite...they are bothering me now, but the dr. called in a prescription for a steroid cream...not sure I'm going to bother picking it up, cause as I said...the bumps are drying up & healing & not bothering me so I really don't see the need for it...
Got my walk in earlier & now I'm ready for some lunch...enjoy the day all!

Pat, that lazy Susan is fantastic! What a great gift. Share the Aldi’s cheap n’ cheerful wine with Bert. You can keep the good stuff for yourself. Boom Again arrived this morning. We’ll open the questions on Friday for our on line trivia games day.
I have to say that walking is one thing we can’t quite do the same here in the winter Karen. Just one of the many things we miss about FL. Not good but it is good when the dermatologist finds something and you can be proactive!
I hope all is well across The River too. It’s not like Kathie to not check in.
We stopped at the vet for Katie food and Bear meds after our walk. Kiss $290.00 good bye. Then I popped in to our grocery and picked up fixin’s for a couple of pots of soup. Along with a few other grocery items.
I think meatball sandwiches on French bread with roasted red peppers could be on the menu tonight.
Stay safe and well gang!
