Lee: So very sorry about your friend Joyce. Prayers for Phil. Never easy losing a friend. Take care Lee.
We'll talk about the shed another day.

Karen: Now that the trimming is all done you'll have to accept a RAINCHECK to come up and visit. I'm not sure, but I think plane tickets are expensive everywhere these days. And with all these newly hired pilots I'm a little leery about flying anywhere these days.
Good that you're checking out that job that is not in your sub. If it's crazy bad.... please just say NO THANK you. No use killing yourself over weeds.

Nancy: Have you ever thought about taking CBD-Gummies?? I've heard that a lot of people get good relief from arthritis pain from taking them. Might be better than all those steroids you've been getting. Just a thought.

Nice pic's of the shed. Just too hot to do anymore on it unless you start at 8:00 a.m. I don't want any of the OGC guys coming down with HEAT STROKE. Take care.

Our lawn man, he's also our neighbor from the other side of the creek, was a wealth of information today. The man knows everything about all the people he cuts grass for in our sub. I asked about the house For Sale across the street from him and he said it sold in 3 days.

Just like 2 others in the sub. Amazing. He said 2 out of 3 sales were because the surviving spouse passed away and the family sold the house. The one was because the man is on a Kidney replacement list and goes for dialysis 3 days a week and he and his wife are moving in with his son because their house sold so fast. Like I said, Eddie knows everything that's going on around here.

I'm going to go for a FREE 1/2 hour STRETCHING SESSION on Friday mid-day. The place opened up last month and had this offer and I said why not. I want to see just what they have to offer. I could stand to STRETCH these old bones a tad. I'll let you what I think of it and just how much they want after the free session.

You all take care and STAY INSIDE if it's TOO HOT in your area. Hugs to all of you.
Especially Lee & Lu-Ann.

Nice job trimming, K2. But the only problem with trimming is the clean-up. The trimming itself can be fun. Thanks for all the pictures.

I'd forgotten how early in summer the hurricane season begins, BB. Do you have hurricane insurance? On the news they said that in some areas it's a requirement to have it. And a lot of seniors are now priced out of the market.

KC, there are times when a hot dog just hits the spot. Not sure about that
"strawberry, lemon, mint lemonade", though. How big of a job is this one Linda found for you?

Thanks so much Lee for the picture of the shed. And I'm nosey, what's the color of paint for it and the trim that lady says she's going to use?

I sure wish that Mother Nature would let rhododendrons bloom a lot longer than just a week. We've got a couple of big ones. Last week they were a gorgeous bright pink. (Kathi says they are purple.) Now they are a dirty looking pink with the petals already falling to the ground.

It was around 86 degrees here yesterday. And when I went to the drug store to get a prescription for Kathi I was reminded of every degree. It's that time of the year to get my car's air conditioner charged up. It tends to leak out the freon over the winter. It's cheaper to just charge it every year than taking the unit apart to fix the small leak.

(Oh yea, Kathi is going through a bout of vertigo.)

OH NO NOT VERTGO!! My dear friend "up 24 Mile Rd" Marie had it and ended up in the hospital for 2 days. It's a horrible feeling. I had it when I was working and I swore if I ever got that feeling again I'd "shoot" myself!
Give Kathi my best that it goes away soon. You know she's had a lot of dental work done. She might want to check and see if her BITE is OFF. Or if a tendon on her jaw bone by her ear has slipped and is pressing on the nerve. That was my problem. My orthodontist took a full head X-Ray that they do for braces and saw the tendon had slipped and made me a mouth piece guard to wear and it took the DIZZY's away immediately. I went through H&ll and back with specialists until I went to him.
Maybe one of Kathi's crowns or implants is TOO HIGH and needs adjusting. Have her ASK her dentist about it. It's simple things that can solve a horrible feeling. It's called TMJ! Good luck to her. And if she does go and it does work.....I'll be sending her a professional consult bill! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

It's going to be another HOT one here today.

Lord help all those people in downtown Detroit going to watch the PRE Grand Prix warm up races today. Tomorrow is suppose to be just as HOT. They might get a breeze from being right next to the water, but CEMENT and ASHPHALT make it hot. Not to mention the cars racing around. I'll be more than happy to watch it on TV.

Karen: Thanks for the compliments on my shrub trimming. Sure that all that is over with for this year!

Art is outside trying to get the faucet on the side of the house to loosen up to fix a leaky washer. He's spraying some kind of stuff that eats away at the rust, etc and lets you finally turn it. He's going to also turn on the Sprinkler System to see if all the areas are in working order. We haven't had any rain at all and the grass is starting to get CRISPY to say the least.

You all have a wonderful day. I'll be off to the FREE STRETCH Clinic session in a few hours. I'll let you know about it later.

Good morning, everyone!

Lee - First of all, I am so sorry for the loss of your friend, Joyce. It's never easy when you hear that a friend is gone. Hugs to you and Lu-Ann.
That's a mighty fine looking shed you guys built. Y'all do nice work.

Dave - So sorry to hear that Kathi is having a bout of vertigo. Seeing as how she had it, might be a good idea to follow Kathie's advice.
Our hurricane insurance is part of our homeowner's policy. The thing they are recommending in many areas is FLOOD insurance. That does the most damage when there is a hurricane or just a really bad rain storm. We don't have to have it, even though we live on the lake. The houses are up high enough from the water that our house would never flood. Now the streets are another story, but there too, we are up a bit and should never flood.

Kathie - You'll have to tell us about the FREE stretching clinic. Nice to know you have all the bushes trimmed for the year. Our bushes all need to be trimmed too, but we have the landscaper do them. Trimming takes place a few times a year with the way things grow all year round here. Your weather is much hotter than ours right now. We are only going into the mid 80s recently. That's below normal for Florida. We should be in the 90s by now.

Bill - Did you get to watch Blacklist last night? I thought both episodes were really good as the show is building to its finale in a few weeks.

Karen - Good idea checking out that property before agreeing to do any weeding.

Nancy - I've got a question for you ... If you've hated your kitchen counters since you moved in, how come you've never changed them? I mean like you've lived in the house for 38 years. They should have been gone years ago!

Due to have more rain today, so we're heading for Aldi's this morning. We actually have run out of cheese for a charcuterie board! G&E are coming on Sunday, so I need something to feed them. We're supposed to go to the Grille tonight, but if it is raining, that's not going to happen.

Time to fix a togo cup of coffee and get out of here.

BB, I did watch both episodes and enjoyed them. I agree that the show seems to be enroute to an ending that is worthy of the series.
KC hope you enjoyed your fluffenutter although I think it is better if you use two slices of bread so that the marshmallow and peanut butter are between the
two slices just as most people would do with a PB&J.
Off to get a haircut and some pool therapy. Temps are due to be in the 90s but will plunge into the fifties and sixties for most of the next week. Possible thunder showers later this afternoon. We do need more rain.
My peonies are in full bloom but many of the flowering shrubs were much less profuse this year and apparently that has been a problem for much of our area according to today's newspaper.

Good afternoon. I was a bit rushed this morning. No idea why. PT was not too bad, a few things did hurt some but not feeling too bad now. Will take a muscle relaxer at bed time and probably one of the pain pills.

Pat, for a long time we never really paid much attention to the flaking as it was not too bad. Then Bruce was going to replace the top with plywood and then tile but that never went very far and since then the cost has stopped us.

For dinner it will be reheating the left over ribs and I have just made a salad to go with it.

About 5 we should be getting rain and it most likely will last at least 2 hours.

All have a great day.

Hey friends.
Thank you for the kind words for Joyce, Phil and Lu-Ann and I. Lu-Ann and Joyce referred to each other as “Soul Sisters”. Joyce was very instrumental in getting our little Ava out of China to us. While not unexpected it just plain sucked to get that note last evening.
The shingles still have go go on the upper couple of surfaces. We think that Linda is going to paint the walls with blue barn paint and the trim will be white. The stuff you see Nancy is “chipboard” or “particle board”. MDF is a member of the same man made wood product family.
I don’t know if you can hear the Indy Cars across the river or not Kathie. You could when they ran on Belle Isle. How’s Art making out with the taps and sprinklers? I hate to water preferring to let it go dormant. Water here is just crazy expensive!
I guess I’ll have to catch up with Blacklist on a streaming service Bill. We drifted away at one point because the show seemed to lose its way.
Was it today you went to see the scope of weeding at the other ladies home Karen?
It‘s good Wes is staying on dry land Pat. Those big oil rigs seem so vulnerable to storms in The Gulf. You could always serve a cheeseless charcuterie board. Just double up on the wine…
How’s Kathi doing Dave? We have a lot of rhododendrons in The Navy Yard. Like you said, pretty but they just don’t last.
Best feed Ava.
Take care everyone.

Lee: I just can't imagine how the spectators sat or stood through the EXTREME INTENSE HEAT and SUNSHINE today at those preliminary races. Just something I could never make it through.
I bet you can hear the cars on the Windsor side of the water Lee. Like directly across from the
Renaissance bldg. I heard that because of all the detours downtown that folks are using the Ambassador Bridge and the BACK UP WAIT TIME is OVER 1 hour to cross it. Can you even imagine having to wait in a line that long. Even with A/C on it wouldn't do it for me.

Art spent hours on that dumb box in the ground with the sprinkler connectors. He's used every Electrical trick he knew and it just didn't work. So tomorrow morning he's taking back the part he bought and talking to the nice people at the exclusive sprinkler parts shop.
He's NOT GOING BIKING because of the unbelievable HEAT. Now that's a first for Artie.

Pat: Sure hope that Bert isn't trying to do too many errands and running around TOO SOON. Hope he is resting in between the shopping runs.
Good luck with any hurricanes you Florida folks.

its a date stretch GIF by Zachary Zezima
Hip Thrusts Quad Stretch GIF by Hockey Training

It was not quite like these pictures, but close.
The instructor holds your arm, leg or shoulders and you do resistant pushes. Some against the table you are lying on and some on the instructors shoulder or hand. It was actually very nice to know I could stretch as and push so much resistance as I did. I would LOVE to do this 2 times a week...... BUT.....
it's just too expensive.

$$$! 4 sessions of Stretches' -- 25 minute each Stretches would be $159 a month. And you have to use up the 4 sessions in one month. Double that to round out the month of going 2 times each week and you're looking at $318.00 CRAZY.

4 sessions of 50 Minute stretches each would be $269 a month.

They have 8 - 25 minute sessions per month too and of course the price goes up accordingly.

This is WAY OUT OF MY Budget.
I can go to Life Time Gym for FREE with Art's Ford insurance benefits. I really should just do that one of these days. I use to go for awhile, but then COVID hit and first they closed the place down and then there were masks required and then they said no masks and you all know how I feel about even going to the grocery store without a mask on. I'll have to just check it out one day in the middle of WINTER. Too HOT to do exercises even if the place has A/C.

So that's my STRETCHES story folks. DUH! EXPENSIVE.

By the way, I did manage to buy the new deck rug at Lowe's. Saved $20.80 cents with Art's military discount. Every little bit helps.
Hopefully, we might get it unrolled sometime after the SPRINKLERS ever get fixed. I'm not pushing my luck. It's not important enough to get done ASAP.
I was happy that my Corsair's seat fold down and the 10 foot long roll fit perfectly up to the front seat. Nice of the man to put it in the car for me. :clap002: :clap002:

In explanation about Vertigo, it's a malfunction caused by different messages sent by your inner ear on your right and the inner ear on your left. Almost all of us have had it at one time or another. Usually the dizziness goes away in short order all by itself. Sea sickness, car sickness, standing up too quickly are forms of it. Making it impossible to maintain your balance. Some people end up puking.

Kathi's Vertigo started at the beauty shop when she straightened up after getting her hair washed. But it didn't stop so she went to see an ER doctor who has her on a medication after doing blood tests and a physical. At the moment she can walk around, if done slowly. And has a follow up with our family doctor on Monday morning to see if there is any underlying problem. No way though can she drive or go out shopping.

Sooo........I was the grocery shopper yesterday. (Nothing other than what was on the list.) But since this is the first grocery shopping since we got the new frig, I got quite a lot. Lots of fruits, vegetables, frozen foods, and of course ice cream.

We're quite pleased with the new Whirlpool frig.

Lee; I like Linda's choice of paint colors for the shed. Blue with white trim. Ours is tan with a dark green trim. I'm cheap like you, I don't water either.

As always K2, thanks so much for the pictures. A bit pricey for the stretching exercise program. That little video of the toy creature was funny.

Bert must be feeling better, BB. You seem to be getting back into your almost daily outings.

Bill; We too are in need of a bit of rain. It's been over 2 weeks since we've had any.

So KC, are you taking on that new landscaping job?

OH goody, I get to spend close to 400 bucks on prescriptions at Walley-World today. 7 for me and 2 for Kathi. We're doing our best to help the economy.

Yup.... yesterday was FRIDAY. Can you believe how fast these weeks seem to be going by lately. Is that
an old person thing or what! Ha Ha.

DAVE: Vertigo is like a 7 letter BAD WORD. Sure hope that each day Kathi is feeling less and less of it. Good for Kathi going to ER and getting checked.
Now I bet you bought a ton of things NOT on the list. You were like a little kid let loose in a Candy Shop going grocery shopping alone! Glad you guys like the new Refrig.

Yikes on spending so much on MEDS at Wally World. But it seems we have no choice.

It cooled down here over night. 65F right now. Going up to 85F as the day progresses. A tad cooler than yesterday! Whew.

Karen: So just how bad was the ladies area that needs weeding?
Negc: Did you see the video showing the historic church burning up. It was just outside of Boston. Seems like lightning was the cause. So sad to see.

Good morning, nice & cool here at the moment but that won't last long!
Going this evening with Linda to check out Dolly's yard, it's just trimming with the weed whacker once or twice while she's gone so I'm sure it won't be a big deal.

Dave, glad to hear you like the new fridge. I've been disappointed in my Whirlpool fridge ever since I got it, it's sooo loud & makes all kinds of weird noises. Which every tech they sent out told me was normal, so I won't be buying any more Frigidaire products. Hope Kathi feels better soon!

kathie, yikes, that's some pretty pricey stretch classes. I bet if you looked on Youtube you could find some that you & Art could do together. Nice pic's of your drive thru the park.

Lee, the shed looks awesome, good job! Can't wait to see it all done & painted it's going to be down right purdy!

Pat, so did you make it to the grille for dinner last night? We haven't had any of the rain they kept saying was on the way. Had a few teaser sprinkles the other night but that was it.

Bill, I wonder if the lack of blooms on many of the flowering shrubs this year is due to lack of moisture over the winter & spring? I know our Azaleas down here were not as lush as they usually are and our rain totals were down over the winter & into late spring.

Nothing much on the agenda today, yesterday I got ambitious and cleaned out my craft closet & organized it. I have a bunch of cruise pictures & stuff I want to get in my scrapbook but that's not going to happen anytime soon.
Going to bake some cookies later to take to church tomorrow for coffee hour. for now I'm off to fix a cup of coffee, have a great day all!

I unrolled the new Patio Rug and thank goodness it actually looks good. The way the company rolled it up was great. You didn’t have any edges to worry about being curled. A total plus! This patio set has really held up well all these years. Only thing I had to change out was the cushions a few years ago. The set must be at least 20 yrs old! We take everything but the table into the basement for the Winter. Table gets the legs taken off and put in the garage against the wall. :crazy01:

Off to peel hard boiled eggs and potatoes to make a nice Potato Salad. After all it’s Summer and you just have to have homemade potato salad and Hot Dogs! :D

Good morning Right now it is very sunny and 84, later supposed to rain and of course the temp will go down.

Only plan for today is watching NASCAR. Right now Cup practice is on then they will qualify. Then will be Xfinity qualifying, then truck race then Xfinity race. So a full day of NASCAR.

K2, like that rug and patio set.

All have a great day.

Goof late morning, everyone! Lazy morning around here for a change.

Dave - So how did the shopping go? Don't you just hate how you have to spend so much money on meds? Mine alone come to about $400/month. I'm sure I'm getting very close to the "donut hole". UGH!!! I hope Kathi feels better soon. My father used to get vertigo from an injury to his middle ear and had to do many things very slowly so as to not set it off.

Kathie - I like your new rug. It really looks good with the table & chairs. Those are some pictures of the cars racing through Detroit. That stretch class really is pricy! I'm sure there are plenty of videos out there that would help you do a lot of that kind of stretching right at home. I've been sharing with Bert some of the exercises they taught me when I was getting PT. They seem to be helping/

Karen - Yes, we went to the Grille last night and for the most part it was AWFUL! The Motown music they called for was more like jazz with a guy playing a sax and another playing what looked like bongo drums while mumbling some songs no one ever heard of. That wasn't even the worst of things though. Service was the worst we've ever seen. Waited 45 minutes before a server even took our drink order. Then I had to ask a different server to please get our drinks which were sitting thereat the bar for over 15 minutes. Server finally came back to take food order, but never asked if anyone needed a refill on their drinks. I had to ask him 4 times for a second glass of wine. M&J sat outside with the kids and came in finally to tell us that it looked lie a storm was ready to move in. That's when we left, as had most of the other people who were there. We all came back to our house for Missy's Carve; ice cream birthday cake.

Nancy - By tonight, you should be in NASCAR overload with watching races all day.

Time for lunch before I decide if there's anything I want to do this afternoon. Have a good day, gang!

Pool therapy went well yesterday and later Rita and I returned to the hospital to visit Lisa who had gone to the ER earlier where they determined that she had a kidney stone and was either at or near sepsis, so they admitted her and removed the stone. She is feeling much better but will probably be there another couple of days. When I go to PT or the pool a volunteer aide gives me a ride to and from the physical therapy area which its quite a distance from the hospital entrance. The aim is to get me to the point where I can walk there and back on my own. Last night I walked in and all the way to and from Lisa's room which was perhaps a bit more half as far as the physical therapy facilities, so I feel that I am really making progress. It was 91 degrees when we went to the hospital and was already in the low 70's when we headed home about an hour and a half later and beginning to rain. Today's high temperature will be 56 with light rain and high winds. Glad to have nothing on our agenda that requires us to go out of the house. Tomorrow we have a high school graduation for grandaughter of friends, a Christening,(Rita's goddaughter's baby) and a 1st birthday party (granddaughter of one of Rita's sisters) on our schedule. I suspect that we will only be able to make token appearances but hope the weather cooperates and is clear though chilly.
I saw those pictures of the church fire. The flames engulfing the steeple which then collapses into the church were ferocious. That church was practically destroyed once before (in the 1800s) and was rebuilt. What
will happen this time has yet to be determined but the damaghae was pretty terrible.
KC, I believe that the lack of snow and rain this past year was given as the reason in that newspaper account of the lack of flowering shrubs. It was certainly noticeable here. The promotional piece that the realtor printed when advertising this house two years ago featured the beautiful flowering crabs in our front yard and, this year, the flowers were few and far between.

Negc: So sorry to hear about Lisa and her hospital event. Lordy, being near Sepsis is not good at all. Did she just wait too long to get looked at? Glad they got the stone/stones out and that they're keeping her a few days. OUCH is all I can say about Kidney Stones.

The church fire reminded me of the horrible fire at the Serbian church in New York City. They're still rebuilding. The City let them have so many
parishioner's attend a special service on Easter and another church holiday. NO heat , no pews, just a shell inside, but the people were happy to be back inside their beloved church.... be what was like.

It's 95F here in our backyard.....well everywhere......right now. Too hot for this gal to be outside. The few people that have pools aren't even in them right now.

I get "Informed Mail-Delivery Notices" Mon-Sat of just what to expect in my mailbox. Well, today I had 3 pieces of mail that DIDN'T MAKE IT INTO THE BOX. If the computer scanned the pieces and sent me a e-mail with the pictures of the envelopes and what to expect I just wonder WHERE THE HECK DO THOSE PIECES OF MAIL GO?? If it's junk mail I could care less, but there was a piece from State Farm Insurance in the e-mail notice. Time will tell if it shows up.
The service is FREE to sign up for and I love seeing what we're getting. Especially in the Winter when it's cold, snowy and windy outside and there's only JUNK MAIL. We just don't bother going out to pick it up.

Made fresh potato salad and I just stirred it up to make sure all the flavors get a chance to blend.

Pat: Sorry your visit to the Grille was so bad last night. I guess they just can't get enough help these days. I don't suppose they pay those waiters/waitresses much and it's hard to find workers. I'm surprised the place has lasted as long as it has this time around.

Can't find anything on TV regarding the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix qualifying races going on right now. Hate when the stations just broadcast what they want to.

Karen: So what's the verdict.... taking on the weeding job outside of your sub or not? :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

Dave: Our Meijer grocery store had $5 bucks off on Klondike Ice cream cones and when I was there to buy some much needed CELERY I saw that the SHELF for those cones was EMPTY. I guess the early bird gets the DEAL when they're giving $5 bucks off. I don't think too many people actually buy that box of Ice cream cones at the regular $8.25. I know I wouldn't pay that much for them. I'll go back on Monday early and see if they re-stocked the shelves or if it was just to get you into the store so you'd buy other stuff. :emoticon 0122 itwasntme::emoticon 0122 itwasntme:

I bet you made sure to STOCK up the NEW REFRIG with plenty of ice cream. Hope Kathi is feeling better today. Tell hello from me.
