Good morning! It's been a busy time at my house this weekend! My sister's came over Sat. for an early birthday get together and yesterday was church & last minute grocery shopping. Now I get to just kick back & relax until my friend get's here around noon. Catch up with you all tomorrow after she leaves.

Good morning! Happy first day of Spring! and most importantly -
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KAREN!!!

Not much happening here today. Spent some time on the phone this morning going over some fraudulent charges that have been showing up on one of our credit cards. Bottom line was that by the time I finished the conversation, charges had been dropped and card is being replaced. What a pain, but at least we don't have to pay for any of this.

Brrr ... It's chilly out there. Bright sun but 56 breezy degrees. I wanted to get to the store today to pick up a few things for the party, but it can wait another day. Bert wants to go to the Board of Directors meeting tonight to see what these new board members even look like. When they were elected last week it was too much of a mob scene to get anywhere near them. I still have to decide if I want to go too or if I'll let him brave the cold on his own. I'm so glad temps get much more to my liking starting tomorrow.

Dave - Don't forget that I used to be a teacher and always had a crowd of people around me, whether kids or adults. A large party does not bother me. This one will be a piece of cake for me being once the party starts, I won't have to do anything. Actually, aside from the foods I plan to fix, which is not much, I have nothing else to do. Jimmy's sisters are doing the decorating and I'll get them to fix some of the trays of veggies and fruit. Only thing I really have to make is a crockpot of bourbon meatballs using frozen meatballs.

Kathie - Glad your team won. I heard the score on the news last night.

Bill - So what did you think of Blacklist last night? Lots of angles developing this season leading up to the grand finale.

Lee - Glad you had a good visit with Tiff. She's so typically a teenager. They stay up half the night talking or playing on their phones and then like to sleep in come morning. Sounds just like all our grandkids. I firmly believe that cell phones were the worst thing ever invented!

Someone come to my rescue! I fear I am becoming too acclimated to Florida because when I got up this morning and saw that the temperature was 61 degrees and only predicted to get to 68, I went to the closet and got out a long sleeved shirt and long pants. Back home I would have been dragging out shorts and a T shirt.
I enjoyed The Blacklist last night, BB and have begun to believe that this final season will actually be one of its better ones.
Even in the midst of all the March Madness coverage on CBS, I was pleased to see that their Sunday evening programs were still being shown, although somewhat delayed.
Heavy rain here last night but today is bright and sunny if a bit cool.
Vegetables in the St.Patrick's Day dinner were undercooked, BB and what little cabbage was on the plate was tough and not at all tasty.
Guess silly season has arrived early in some parts of the US as I read that the Missouri legislature has adopted a rule that female legislators can not have bare arms there. So much for being the "Show Me" state. Guess it needs to be corrected to read "Show me your covered arms". How can the male legislators be expected to pass all those abortion bans and open carry laws when the female legislators are distracting them by baring their arms?

Made some dough for Serbian cookies I'll be sending to my brother & SIL in Chicago.
Cooked the Apricot filling for the cookies. (Kifle)
Paid some bills online!

And now I'm getting ready to go to Kohls to exchange a T-Shirt I bought for Art. He already has the exact same color and style. Ooops! Also, switching out a pair of Jeans. And the one
pair of jeans still has the SECURITY Tag on it, and I need them to remove it. How did I ever get out of the store without that thing sounding a alarm! DUH!

Lee: Both Art and I go to the dentist for cleaning on Wednesday. Joy, Joy. Nice that Lu-Ann is trying to get into the PD test program. Hope she is successful. Long trip. Allow enough time with all the detours and road construction going on these days.

I was thrilled that the Spartans have moved on to the SWEET 16 playoffs. They got a lot further than I thought they would. And NO... I didn't pee myself. Ha Ha.

Negc: I just don't get what is going on lately with all the RULES and LAWS about WOMEN. Abortion pills, can't bare your flesh, being sued if you even try to go to another state to get help with a abortion. This is all going way too far. These MEN need to get off their high horses and worry about gun control and the environment and when and if Russian is going to send over a Missile and destroy our country. Leave WOMEN ALONE. We can handle things about our bodies ourselves. It's just unbelievable that any of this is actually being discussed.

I think the most asinine bill yet is the one before the Florida legislature that will forbid girls below 6th grade from talking about getting their period! Girls start younger than that and Hispanic girls start really really young. The idea that they can't talk about it with their teacher or friends is awful. All these new rules & laws are being proposed and pushed through by white Christian males who want to control women and take womanhood back into the dark ages. Wait until they revoke the right of women to vote, go out without a male escort and decide women have to cover their hair & faces to everyone but their husbands!!! The American Taliban is in full swing!!

It's a total EMBARRSMENT to be a American these days with all this BS going on. Bring back the 50's & 60's when life wasn't all that easy, but you knew where you stood. Everyday it gets crazier.
BB you are so soon there will be a American Taliban. SO SAD to even THINK that in this day and age.

So I got the dough made and it's in the refrig until tonight when I can roll and fill the little pastries.
Then I got all brave and made some "SPRING ROLLS". Yup, I've moved onto Chinese Food!
I'm going to try and deep fry these in a deep sauce pan filled with about 2" of oil on the Stove Top in the basement. If there are splatters it's better down there than in the upstairs kitchen.

I did manage to exchange Art's shirt and jeans. Kohl's was all but empty at 2:00 pm. The Moms must have been getting ready to pick up their kiddies from school. Sure were enough school buses on the road.

Okay..,. Here’s the report on the Homemade SPRING ROLLS!
They were eatable, but a mess to make. They stick to each other in the hot oil. They splatter. THANK GOODNESS I went to into he BASEMENT-to do this project.
I will NEVER TRY THIS AGAIN.
I have the Air Purifier on it’s working overtime trying to get the greasy smell out of the house. I even have the garage back door open.

We did eat the ones that turned out halfway decent!

I’ve learned that my corner Chinese Carry Out is where I’ll be getting any future SPRING ROLLS!

Costco has good spring rolls Kathie. Well, CDN Costco does. They are a large sleeve (it is Costco) in two packs of 8 or 10. They also come with dipping sauce. Pop them in the oven, turn them half way and they are done.

We all hate getting stuck on hold, but yesterday I heard of a new twist to it. Kathi wanted to mail something in the Post Office's "if it fits it's all the same postage" boxes. All she needed to do was print a label for it on the USPS website. But it wouldn't print, AND she was still charged for the postage.

So she gives them a call, and of course gets one of those automatic directories companies use on where to direct your call.

At the very end of all the choices, it gives you half a dozen choices of what kind of music you would like to hear while you're on hold.

You know right then, you're going to be on hold for a while.

A balmy 32F here this morning. It seems like just a week or so ago we would have been out for a walk in shorts and maybe a light long sleeve shirt!
That’s not a good thing about Kathi’s mailing label Dave. Those flat rate boxes at USPS are neat. I wish they a) had them here and b) they were for cross border shipping.
Best get my butt in gear. I like having the first appointment for anything. I don’t like having to hustle around to be there.

38F here on this side of the Border right now. We happen to have the only pile of snow left on our lower grass area by the driveway. I sure hope it melts today. Looks funny out there.
55F down in Kissimmee, but it will be 80F later.

Yup, LEE.....those were nice walks that you and Ava and Lu-Ann had a week or so ago.
It's been rather COLD down South lately. We have friends over on Anna Maria Island and they keep showing WINDY pictures and jackets on them when they're on the beach. Bummer.
Hope your dentist visit goes well today. We both go tomorrow for cleaning. Art has one tooth that is bugging him on and off and you just gotta know that's going to cost some bucks even with insurance. I have 2 fillings that might need work. IT NEVER ENDS!
Make sure to leave enough time for "construction traffic" when you venture over on Wednesday with Lu-Ann. Hope she can get into the test group.

BB: I love the PRESENTATION for the Whiskey Tasting event. Irish Cheese is one of my favorites, but it's rather pricey!

Karen: Hope you and your dear friend are catching up on old times and making new memories. Enjoy the visit.

Negc: You and Rita better hope that the weather shapes up to getting a TAD WARMER when you come home 10-11 days. Seems like the time FLEW by this year. Did you book the place for next year? When does your CAR get picked up? I think it's a good thing that you have to be out of the condo and checked into the Airport hotel. Less chance of getting caught up in traffic for the flight home. You'll be right where you're suppose to be and not have to worry about rushing anywhere. I always like when we stay by the airport. With all the construction around Michigan lately it's always a good plan.

DAVE: Does Kathy print off the POSTAGE LABELS at home? Or was the machine not working at the Post Office?
I remember years ago signing up for the ONLINE POSTAGE. I went to use it and it didn't work. I spent MONTHS trying to get my charge card credited for the MONTHLY FEE they were charging me. I thought at the time it would be so convenient to not have to go to the post office for stamps. Turned out to be a major pain in the TuTu! Thankfully, our post office is really close to our house. The price on those PRE-PAID (stuff everything you can) boxes keeps going UP and UP in price. But then seems like everything keeps going up in price.

Their daughter is with my SIL until the end of the month. She came home last week. She still can't get around well at all and is stuck on one level of the house until she can tackle the 5 steps to get up to the kitchen level. She does have Physical Therapy at home right now. Still a mess dealing with lawyers and insurance company regarding the accident. Sad that your life is changed forever and you have to fight to have the bills that are mounting daily get paid for by the IDIOT who hit you.

Good morning, everyone! Pretty but still chilly outside. It will get much warmer this afternoon, thank goodness! No new edicts from the dictator yet today!!

Just got a message that they're having a problem with the dam that holds the water in our lake & keeps it from flowing and draining into Lake Toho. Seems like our lake is draining into Toho right now. Lake is down about a foot. They're trying to get together a team of engineers to figure out and fix this problem. This is a real problem because people who are not here to check their boat moorings which might be too tight. It can flip their boats! This is something that the community definitely doesn't need.

Dave - You must have a very special post office, if they offer you a choice as to what music you want to listen to while you are on hold. never heard of that before, but it really is a good idea. I hate some of the things you are forced to listen to while on hold for any length of time.

Kathie - Sorry your spring rolls didn't come out as planned. I'm with Lee. Much better to buy the frozen variety and bake them. Save yourself a lot of work. But then again, you like giving yourself a lot to do. LOL Have fun making to pastries!

Lee - Good luck with your dentist visit today and with Lu-Ann getting into that clinical testing group.

Karen - So how did it feel seeing an old friend and being able to go back and talk about the "good old days"? I bet you had fun.

Nothing much planned for today. Bert's off to get a haircut and then I think it's time for a trip to Sam's or BJ's for some stuff for the party. We got all the trays we needed at Dollar Tree yesterday. We were in and out of there in about 5 minutes. It was "shopping like a man" time!
Going to make an old family recipe for dinner tonight - Shrimp Marinara. Some people make it with spaghetti. My recipe has it over rice with baby peas. It's a favorite of Bert's.

Bert just pulled into the driveway. Time to grab a bite of lunch before we go out. I hate going on an empty stomach. I buy too much!! Have a super day, gang!

Not much happened around here today. Dentist visit was good. I have to go back so they can re and re a very old filling.
Tomorrow‘s session in MI is three hours. Peachy’s Mom and Dad are popping over to let Ava out around noon.
