Dave: We did get our Fish dinners. 3 pcs Fried. Baked potato, tossed Salad, corn, roll/butter, coffee! Dessert is sold extra by the Ladies club. Costco Cheese Cake or Choc Cake. Yum! $13 bucks each.
We liked this church just a tad better than last weeks choice because of the perfect hot BAKED POTATO CHOICE and their FISH was done perfectly. Not over fried!

Glad you got your Fish dinners too.

Good morning! Not a lot going on here today, so I don't have much to post about. Aren't you all happy to hear that?

Dave - That ice cream sounds disgusting.

Kathie - Glad you and Dave got your fish last night. I ended up changing our menu. Instead of fried shrimp sandwiches, we has snow crab & Alaskan king crab with a nice salad. We ate like a couple of pigs. It tasted so good.

Time now to finish my cup of coffee and to read the newspaper. Wonder what hairbrained idea DeathSantis has come up with today. It would be nice if he stayed here in Florida and did what he got elected to do instead of running all over the country plugging his book and campaigning. This guy is really, really bad news!

On that note, I wish you all a great Saturday and look forward to Lee checking in later to tell us of their progress north. Later, gang!

A late good morning. Had strange sleep and so slept until 9:30 this morning.

My neck is hurting this morning and i have not yet done any exercises, have to do at least a couple soon.

I saw that when in Iowa yesterday desantis was given a snowflake that the sides spelled Fascist yet he had no idea and was smiling so big. He really has no idea that he is hated so much.

Hopefully, DeSantis travels outside of Florida will enable others to see just what your state has been suffering from. Although I fear that his messages of hate will be welcomed by some even in our supposedly responsible and enlightened communities. I must say that I am already tired of his constant references to "Woke", which I guess is the newest code word for anything he and his cult of worshippers don't like. Some years ago Massachusetts elected a governor by following a policy that one of his top advisors described as "getting all the hate groups together and decrying all of the same policies and practices that they shared." I believe that Trump, DeSantis and all too many Republican politicians are following the same path.
Yesterday, we finally gave in and took a ride to the nearest Seminole casino which is about 75miles away, and I must say that they treated us quite well and I actually came home with slightly more wampum than I had when I arrived. Only spent a couple of hours there and stopped a Longhorn for a steak before getting back to Vero.
Nothing much planned for today. Maybe just rest up to compensate for the loss of an hour's sleep tonight.
Hope Lee and LuAnn got offf to a good start and we get a report from him later. We only have three more weeks before we have to head home. Can't say I am anxious to get home although I look forward to seeing our kids and grandkids again.

If only EVERYONE of those Florida Republicans who filed this bill could have their OWN FAMILY member in a position that needed an abortion for 'whatever' reason, then maybe they would come to their senses and LEAVE WOMENS BODIES ALONE. I have yet to hear any kind of retribution for the MEN whose PENIS caused the pregnancies. Makes me sick to think of any female, regardless of age, having to deal with these ridiculous laws that are only politically motivated. I just hope that the courts and judges NAIL and indite the DUMPSTER for his rapes and payoffs.
Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now.

NEGC: I just saw you posted. Nice that you took a few bucks from the Casino. Always a nice feeling. Enjoy your last weeks. You know it's going to be a long stretch once you get home before you see 65 degrees, yet alone 70's. Time to turn up the heat in the house and get a sunlamp!

Marinating a pork loin roast. I think my neighbor will be getting a big hunk of this if it turns out nice and moist and good! Just too big for us. I'm not big on leftovers for more than one time.
Off to get my car washed. It's SUNNY and DRY and the car is screaming for a wash.

All this BS that DeathSantis keeps coming up with is ridiculous and is just pandering to his base. What really scares me is that he ended his State of the State speech by saying "You ain't seen nothing yet!" What the he!! more is he planning to do to make life in Florida unbearable? He is a total dictator and his crowd love it.

Kathie - Most women wouldn't even realize they are pregnant at 6 weeks, so you might as well call this law pretty much a ban on abortion.
He also wants all high school girl athletes to report their menstrual cycles. How's that for keeping females in line? I just boil over some of his sh*t!!!

Bill - Good for you and Rita to go visit the Indians here in Florida and come home with some wampum. Where did you go? Tampa? It's been years since we were last there. That time half way across the parking lot you could smell the cigarette smoke and back then the smell didn't bother me. Bert checked the prices on that Guitar Hotel in Ft Lauderdale that they keep advertising on TV, just for the fun of it. I can't imagine how anyone could afford to stay there.

Good afternoon from The Drury Inn, Atlanta Airport. We look out on the airport right over the Delta complex. I won’t need TV tonight as I can sit and watch aircraft takeoffs and landings. But the room is quiet!
We pulled out of Emerald Island, stopped at Panera for breakfast and were on the road by 08:00. There were a number of slowdowns through Ocala and Gainesville and one very serious crash on the way into Atlanta. Apple Maps, which I use as a nav system did a great job warning us and saving us time.
Again, thanks to you all who we spent time with for taking time out of your days to visit with us.
You’ve been a busy bunch today. Always fun to catch up after a long day on the road.
The Florida Governor is, well, currently there are no words to describe him. And here we are away from him right in the middle of MTG land. If they had a “crazy off” I don’t even know who I’d bet on!
But now, it’s almost time to head down for the 5:30 kickback. And a glass of wine.
Tomorrow Louisville, KY passing through Nashville, TN. Unless I go I75 to Lexington and cut across. Decisions.

This changing time twice a year BLOWS!

Good hearing from you Sasquatch. Watching planes land and take-off never gets old, in my book. I can only imagine all the extra soundproofing it takes to build a hotel within sight of the runways.

Hardly any Girl Scouts go door to door to sell their cookies anymore. They find it much easier to set up a table in front of a store. So Kathi decided to go to the larger grocery store yesterday to get 4 boxes. (Different size boxes now.) At 5 bucks a box, GEESH.

I see the Oscar's is on tonight. I'll probably watch at least a bit of it. Can't really say that I have a favorite for best movie, actress, or actor. The only one of all the flicks I've seen is Top Gun.

Dave: The Girl Scouts cookies are crazy expensive. I just think of it as a donation these days. I sent Tony’s granddaughter money to donate 4 boxes to Veterans. I was too cheap to pay $14 bucks for shipping. Felt good helping her meet a goal and get the 4 boxes to Veterans.

Today is a BIRTHDAY for me! Ha ha.
Going to dinner with the gang tonight.

Good morning. Got all the clocks changed last night and actually got a decent night's sleep.

Started my clear liquid diet, very strange having jello and bullion for breakfast, not really very filling. And I don't really care for black coffee but am drinking it.

Yesterday, Bruce had to put things back in a garage that he had painted the floor so after we went to Longhorn Steakhouse for a late lunch and since I can't eat regular food I got a nice New York Strip steak and a large baked sweet potato, which I brought some home and had for my dinner.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KATHIE!!! How old are you now?

Good morning, everyone! Computer is doing some weird things this morning, so please excuse anything that is messed up.

Karen - While you're off to church, I'll tell you about music bingo. You get a bingo board with 16 squares on it. There is a song title in each square. The guy who ran it would play a clip of a song and if you had it on your card, you circled it. Songs ranged from oldies to more current titles. It was fun singing along with the ones we knew. He would show the title on his screen, so even if you didn't know the song, you found out what it was. He played about 40 clips for each game. I don't know what the prizes were, as we didn't win any games. Surprisingly, Bert enjoyed it and will go again next month. He's not a fan of regular bingo, so it was nice that he actually liked this type.

Kathie - Good for you going to church today also. I hope you don't get too much snow and that getting home won't be a problem.

Dave - I'm a sucker for Girl Scout cookies too, especially the thin mints, and Bert knows this. That's why he doesn't take me to the store when they are selling them. If it's not an oatmeal raisin cookie, he's not interested.
Back when I was a girl scout we went door to door and cookies cost 50 cents a box. One year I sold 65 boxes and had to lug them home about 8 blocks. They the fun of who gets what and you always had someone who stiffed you and decided they didn't want the cookies after all. One year and that was enough of that!
Don't plan to watch any of the Academy Awards tonight as we haven't seen any of the movies.

Lee - I hope you got a good night's sleep and that the planes didn't keep you awake. Looking forward to your check in later today.

Gary was supposed to come over today with Ethan, but I got a message this morning that Ethan was doing something with his other grandmother. So Gary canceled his visit. Oh well. And to think we got up early. Bummer!!

So now there's nothing on tap here today. Our pork chops last night were delicious and I made enough for tonight's dinner too. Might just turn on the TV on the lanai. I understand Mel Brooks has a new movie on Hulu. The name of it is "History of the World, Part II" We loved all the Mel Brooks movies, so I hope even at his advanced age that the movie is funny. Time will tell.

Lee, glad you made it safely to Atlanta, sounds like a cool hotel room to be able to watch the planes land & take off. Amazing how they are able to soundproof the rooms like that!

Pat, that music bingo sounds fun! Bummer about Gary cancelling plans at the last minute.

Dave, so how were the lemon donuts, did Kathi share any at all? No academy awards show for me either, I only saw 2 movies last year & doubt if either of them are nominated for anything.

Well, church didn't go exactly as planned, got there this morning & found out the person who was scheduled to preach wasn't there and they had another lady taking her place. No offense to black people but I just wasn't in the mood for a Halleluiah, Holy Rollers sermon this morning. This lady is a sweetheart but not my cup of tea when it comes to preaching so I left. Seriously thinking of looking for a different church, it's really hard anymore to find one that is a good fit for me.
Waiting to see now if the lady buying my storage rack is going to show up for a 1pm meet or not, the last 2 never confirmed our meet and I don't leave my house unless they do.

When we were living in Rockland, one of our favorite family restaurants had one night a week when they had music bingo which they called "Singo" and it was very popular with a number of our neighbors. I think we only went once and that was to celebrate a neighbor's birthday but it was fun. Haven't been to Bingo on a cruise ship or on land in years. When our kids were younger and in youth sports, I had to volunteer to work a Bingo once. At that time smoking was still allowed in the halls and when I got home afterwards and was in bed, I woke up choking and coughing up black phlegm. Never worked another bingo after that..
Rita has actually seen two of the Academy Award nominated movies and I have seen one so we may watch a bit of the ceremonies but perhaps not. I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that we have already seen 4 movies this year.
The casino that we visited is on the Seminole Reservation in Brighton, BB just past Okechobee. It was more like a larger version of the barebones storefront arcades that proliferate in this part of the state than the glitzier casinos in Tampa and Ft. Lauderdale, but they had slots that we like and, as I mentioned, they paid unusually well.

Lordy….watching CNN and they just had a discussion about Arizona having a HOT LINE to report teachers who are teaching about unauthorized subjects like HISTORY. Don’t you dare teach about Ku Klux Klan and Slavery, etc. I can only hope that any teacher that has enough years into the system QUITS. What the H§LL has this USA come to. Hot Lines. Good Lord this is going way too far.

Karen: There’s lots of churches out there….keep looking and you’ll find the right one. Ask some of your neighbors when you see them or collect some names of the churches you pass by when out driving and do a GOOGLE search about them. Might save you some time.
