Good morning. Not much planned for today. I will b going to BJ's for gas and next door to Aldi for Corned Beef, since they have one cut for $2.99 a pound and another for $3.99, will look at both to decided which one to buy.

Karen, a few year ago we had to replace our roof. The company I choose quoted replacing 3 boards and that was what we were charged for, well they had to replace 13 and they had to pay for the extra 10 and they used all the packs of shingles they brought. And it took them 2 full days to do the job and the noise about drove me nuts. But I know I got the right company. The only problem we had was for a few weeks finding roof nails around the house, sone real close and others a few feet away.

All have a great day.

Nancy, you were lucky on that roof replace, up here all my quotes were for 2 sheets of plywood with $80-$100 per sheet for any extra. The company I went with included 3 sheets in their quote & $80 a sheet for any extra.

Good afternoon! Had started this earlier but took a detour to have some waffles for breakfast. It was delicious!

Nancy - We went to Aldi's yesterday for the corned beef and was able to get 2 (the limit allowed) of the ones for $3.99. They were the flat portion. The $2.99 is the point which is very difficult to slice and shreds into small pieces. May go back in a few days or wait to see if Publix puts theirs on sale, which is what we usually get. Last time Bert checked, Publix wanted just under $10/lb for theirs! That's ridiculous!!I like to have 3-4 pieces of corned beef in the freezer for when I get the urge for corned beef & cabbage during the year.

Karen - Good call. Yes, the spool house was for sale last August/September. They pulled it off the market because their new house down near Ft. Lauderdale wasn't completed yet. Due to hurricanes, some of the materials were delayed or unavailable. I guess it's just about ready now. I can well imagine what the new house will look like. They have big $$$$. She sold her pet boarding business and he's some kind of engineer who designs amusement rides for Disney and Universal in this country and also UAE. They already have another boat near where they are building the new house. The boat is a 54 footer with 2 staterooms. Now that's money!!

Dave - "As the Grill Turns" ... They have been running out of food by the weekends. The chef quit without ordering a food truck for the week. The place isn't as clean as it should be. Service is extremely slow. If you get a to go order, they charge an additional amount for the to go box and call it a tip. I understand that if you ask for hot tea at the Sunday morning brunch, they have an up charge of $2.75 for the teabag. It just goes on and on recently. Either things have to change or the place is going to close and I'm afraid that this time it will be for good. Stay tuned for the next installment ...

Lee - A little chilly for your first walk this morning, but that temp sure didn't last long, did it? It's so dry right now that we are under a fire watch in the whole area right over to the Atlantic coast.

Bill - Did you happen to check out that new show, True Lies", that debuted last night? It looks like it might be pretty decent.

Kathie - You had asked the other day how G&E are doing. I couldn't tell you, as I only get to talk to Gary about once a week these days and we haven't seen or heard from Elaine since Christmas!! She got her house over on the coast by her family and we've apparently served her purpose and are no longer needed. Am I pi$$ed? You're d*mn right I am. After all we did for them, including her sons to now be treated like this is uncalled for. We haven't been invited to come see the renovations, but her family is there all the time. Gary comes to visit alone with Ethan every couple of weeks. We never expected to be treated like this, as we have no idea what we might have done to alienate her.

Managed to put out the rest of the spring decorations this morning after breakfast. Now I still have a few things to do today before M&J and company come for dinner tonight. I'm making a family favorite - diced ham, eggs and french fries all made together in one pot. Sounds disgusting, right? This is something that my mother used to make for us growing up and my family loves it. I bake the french fries first before putting them in with the ham. Then I add 2 dozen scrambled eggs. My arm gets tired from mixing it while the eggs cook!! Talk about the ultimate one pot meal!!!

I see it's now time for lunch. My day is going to revolve around food for sure today!!

Enjoy your day, everyone.

Here Publix does not have any Corned Beef on sale yet. I got 1 of the $2.99 and 1 of the $3.99. And actually the $2.99 looks pretty flat so it should not be too hard to cut.

Oh yeah we were lucky and the supervisor said so and said he would have to make sure to check and recheck quotes from then on, and of course plywood was not as expensive as now but still 10 sheets added up.

Quick Hello Wrabbits!

DAVE: I have a note in front of this big computer to send you a e-mail. Hang in there buddy.

Hair cut in the BOOKS as DONE. Whew. What a load off my head. Ha Ha.
Taxes done and in the BOOKS. Got back less from Uncle Sam this year, but at least we didn't pay. We broke real close to even. And that's the way we like it. STATE TAXES gave us a nice chunk back. CPA gave us a discount. Must be feeling sorry for us. It's still better to pay him than to have ARTIE sit in the COUNTING ROOM (dining rm) for weeks on end pulling his hair out.

Corned Beef prices are all over the place around here. Just not worth buying it.

Going to try and go to Choir practice tonight. :emoticon 0101 sadsmile: It's not snowing YET so I figured I don't have a excuse.

Friday we're getting WIND, RAIN turning to SNOW, etc. Good day to clean the house.

BB: Bummer on "As the Grille Turns". Always something with them.

Hope you don't get a family full of KIDS that like TACO's if you know what I'm getting at when they sell that house!

Karen: I don't envy you cleaning up after all that roof banging that was going on. Good you got all that wood replaced. You won't have to worry about water damage.
Too bad you didn't hide ALL those shingles. I still think they should have left them all with you. You basically paid for them. :(

Lee: Nice that you have your HOMETOWN friends visiting. Enjoy.

Out of here for now.

Good evening gang.
We had a nice visit this afternoon. We became the “test table” for some Starbucks “foo foo“ drinks. That could be because Whit worked in a number of Starbucks locations across Canada and struck up quite a conversation with the staff here.
We did see that fire watch Pat. The warning popped up on my phone! I so hope that the spool house sells to good neighbours. I can’t believe that Elaine is treating you and Bert like that.
Breaking even at tax time, whether in Canada or America, is always a good thing Kathie. It’s not like you get interest if they’ve been sitting in your money for a year!
The cost of all lumber is nuts. Hopefully they don’t try to pad their invoice Karen. Every job around this community has about 1/2 dozen bundles on the ground after completion.
All this talk of corned beef Nancy! Kinda makes me want a good old fashioned deli style corned beef sandwich on rye with a crunchy hunk of dill pickle.

We paid our bills on line today. While we were we were thinking about back in the day when we had to get someone to open our paper bills, tell us the amount and we’d send a check. We’d be home from a vacation and in some cases it would be a couple of months before all of the charges would show up! Now they’re there before we put our cards in our wallets.
Everyone have a great evening. See you tomorrow.

Just got back from Movie night at the clubhouse & I must say it was a pretty good one! My Fellow Americans with Jack Lemon, James Garner, Lauren Bacall, Dan Ackroyd & Wilford Brimley. Nice turn out to, with about 16 people there.

Good evening. Well with our new BJ's credit card we get $.15 off a gallon of gas so it was $2.88, nice. Then at Aldi I ended up getting one corned beef at the $2.99 and one at the $3.99. Also bought some frozen items for me for lunches.

Did my neck exercises and again for the one I could only do half because of my hands, at lest I did half. But will say that today is a bad day for the pain in hands, neck, shoulders and knees. I will be going to bed very soon.

All have a good night.

Yes, it IS Friday Dave. I spent a good portion of yesterday thinking it was Friday.

And so once again, about every Catholic church is selling fish dinners or sandwiches. I've got a hankering for some fish, so I'm hoping to get some at the local Catholic church which is about 2 blocks away. It's between 4:30 and 7 PM. Better to go early, since they ran out last week.

Since I knew all the names of the actors in the movie you saw KC, I'm figuring it had to be a good flick.

Don't drool too much at your neighbor's new house in Ft. Lauderdale BB. Remember, the bigger the house the more there is to clean. (Or pay someone to clean.) Yes, that blows that your son and his wife have so little do do with you now that you and Bert have served their purpose.

Thanks so much for your E-mail, K2. While you catch up on following notes on your computer, ....... take down that post-it note that says to fix the wheel on your daughter's stroller.

Once again Lee I want to thank you for recommending the Dyson cordless vacuum cleaners. Yes it was pricey but damn it's good. Never have had a vacuum cleaner that picked up as well. I was reminded of that yesterday. We decided to shampoo the carpet in the living room and hallway. So I led with the vacuum and Kathi followed with the shampooer.

Here's a hoot; My Tuscon daughter sent pictures of the snow in her yard yesterday. Those Arizonians probably went nuts.

Early morning walk with Ava complete. I’m enjoying them while I can because it’s still “winter” at home.
Good on you for doing the exercises. Keep working up to the full program Nancy. It’s tough but it will benefit you.
You’re welcome Dave. Yes, Dyson is pricey up front but they do a great job and I can tell you they last! I wish they had one here. Hope you get that order of fish ‘n chips.
Off to The Boardwalk for breakfast. We find breakfast less pricey than lunch or dinner. You still get to try the restaurant and see the hotel. Plus, you can adjust your meals for the rest of the day depending on how much you ate. :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:
Time for Lu-Ann and I to get a coffee and go for our walk.
Have a FANTASTIC Friday everyone.

Good Friday morning, everyone! Another beautiful day ahead which is good, as we have some running around to do today .Dinner with M&J and company was great last night. We sent them home with all the leftovers as we won't have a chance to eat them and we didn't want them to go to waste.
Kathie - Good for you to be getting something back from Uncle Sam. We were not so lucky and had to pay a lot. Now we have to do quarterly taxes so it won't be such a big bite all at one time.
Karen - Read yesterday about the great quarter Publix had and how much their stock his gone up. I bet you're a happy camper. That will help pay for that new roof of yours!
Dave - I kept thinking yesterday was Friday also. Who knows what that was all about?
Lee - Sounds like you had a good time at Starbucks with your friends. We have a new Starbucks right outside our main gate and we still haven't been there. Heck, some days I'm lucky if I have a cup of coffee at home!!
The best deli corned beef sandwich around this area is Toojay's Jewish Deli. I can highly recommend them. Something to add to next year's list of places to go eat.

I understand a guy in the Bellalago fishing club is interested in the house next door. Only problem is that he also is a seasonal resident who lives in Tennessee most of the year. I hope he doesn't get it, as that will mean that we'll have seasonal residents as neighbors on both sides. The one to our left is from NJ and also a member of the fishing club. I found this out from Jimmy, who is also a member of the fishing club. Too bad Bert isn't interested in fishing.

Time to get a move on and get this day started. Have a wonderful day, gang!!

I second Lee's Anniversary wishes to Bert and Pat.
All this talk about corned beef only serves to remind me that our favorite go-to place in Ft.Pierce for St.Patrick's Day's Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner, Dino's Family Restaurant is no more. Toojays in Vero Beach may be a decent substitute and we
usually eat there at least two or three times while we are here, but not for their corned beef. Back home corned beef and cabbage (New England Boiled Dinner) is a staple on many restaurant's Thursday menus.
Can't say I have heard of that movie but, like Dave, I know all of those names so it may be something I should look up. How old a movie is it?
My prescription is ready to be picked up and this time it only took Walgreen's two days to fill it instead of the week it took last month. When I get home I will try once more to get my primary care to write all mprescriptions for 90 days instead of 30.
I meant to watch that new show, True Lies, but must have missed it. I remember the movie that starred Arnold Schwarzenager. (sp?) Did see and enjoyed the return of Alaska Daily with Hillary Swank, last night.
Speaking of movies, I believe that we have gone to more movies in our first two months here than we have gone to in several years, certainly more than last year. On our cruise we saw the George Clooney- Julia Roberts film: Ticket to Paradise.

Good Afternoon. STILL NO SNOW or WIND here in Pure Michigan! But it's coming! Ha ha.

Negc: I can't believe that your Primary hasn't written your LONG TERM MEDS for 90 days. Our insurance policy gives you a big break for mail-order Scripts for 90 days. It used to be Express Scripts, but they just changed to OptumRX. I haven't had to refill anything yet, but sure hope they work as well as Express Scripts did.
We still get a decent co-pay when getting short term local pharmacy meds filled for 30 days. But you can only do that about 3 times for the same drug. Then you need to get a 90 day script and use the mail order system.
I loved Ticket to Paradise movie. Simple and funny!

I Love You Anniversary GIF by Susanne Lamb
Wishing Bert and Pat a Happy Anniversary. Enjoy your day and evening. Each year you are making history for a LONG LASTING MARRIAGE. Something the younger generation doesn't understand these days! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile: :clap002:

Nancy: How's things today? Hope your pain is not as bad. Seems like you've tried a lot of different things for your hands and none are working. Give the Acupuncture a try.

BB: I can't believe anybody would spend that much money on a house that they wouldn't be living in all year long. WOW.... must be nice to have BIG BUCKS like that. I would rather have Part-Time neighbors as long as they didn't RENT OUT the time they're not in the house. And I doubt very much that anybody would RENT OUT that Spool House. It was just way too cool inside to take a chance of somebody wrecking it. I think you said your HOA doesn't allow rentals? YES/ NO??
Part time neighbors would be less noise and coming and going.
Anymore updates on AS the Grille Turns??

We're off to our local Kroger in about 10 mins to get our 2nd Shingle shot.

They sent a Pharmacy Aid to one of the other close by Kroger's to pick up the serum! Talk about service. Hard to believe. They must get a good KICK-BACK because I even said we could drive to the other Krogers and the Pharmacist said not necessary. The store we're going to is walkable on a GOOD WEATHER DAY!

Later.......

Good afternoon!

Pat, a very HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to you & Bert, I believe you two were just newlyweds when we first met you on the Sovereign all those years ago!! So sorry to hear the Dil turned out to be such a putz, you & Bert sure don't deserve to be treated like that.

Bill, the movie came out in 1996, it was also directed by Steven Segal. Ticket to Paradise was a great movie, one I'd actually go see again.

Kathie, hope the weather guesser's are wrong & the snow, ice or whatever else they are predicting doesn't show up. Good luck with the shot.

lee, must be an age thing, but I notice too if I eat a slightly larger meal at lunch then I'm really not all that hungry for dinner. I've tried to get in the habit of eating my larger meal at lunch time, but so far I haven't been very successful. Just used to eating my main meal at night I guess after all these years.

Dave, I've got a craving for fried fish as well. There is a church right down the road from me that sells a fish dinner with fish, french fries, cole slaw & a drink for $15. They have this all year round & most of the proceeds go back to feeding the needy folks in the community. I'm thinking next week I might just go down & check it out.

Not sure what I did yesterday but somehow I messed up my back big time! I could barely get out of bed this morning. I tried doing my back stretches & it helped a little, but not much. Finally gave up & took 2 Aleve, something I try to avoid doing, but the muscle spasms were just making me miserable. It seems to have done the trick, back is a little sore, but not like it was.

BORING LONG POST. SKIP IF YOU’re not into chit chat! Ha ha.

BB: SHAME, SHAME, SHAME on Gary and Elaine for ignoring you and Bert. All the food and time and money you guys spent on them and this is what you get as a thank you. Terrible. And taking Elaines son’s out to eat, and did they ever eat, shameful. Okay I’m done ranting.

Got our 2nd Shingle shot at 1:45pm.
So glad we waited as long as we did to get these shots. They use to be $400 bucks for 2 injections. Now they are FREE! Cha Ching …what a savings.

Speaking of Savings. I got 2 pieces of mail from a Credit Union that I opened way back when I was still working for direct deposit of payroll. I thought I closed the savings & Checking accts out, but I didn’t. The letter stated that if the ABANDONED accts weren’t made active within 4 months the money would go to the State of Michigan. Ha ha. I drove to the local office 2 miles from our house and asked about the letters and I indeed had 1800.00 bucks and change with the combined accts. I kept it open in case I ever needed to get a quick loan! Ha ha. So the nice teller lady said all I had to do was transfer some of the funds from one acct to the other and it would be ACTIVE again. So I transfered a big $20 bucks and I’m good to good! I have MAD MONEY and didn’t even know it.
It is NOW SNOWING LIKE CRAZY OUTSIDE. If this keeps up I can see that 6-8 inches they’re calling for in this particular area happen Quick!

FYI:
I went to Costco and filled up with gas. Always like to have a full tank in case we need to retreat to the auto if total electrical power and gas goes out! I can just imagine Tony commenting on that last sentence big time. Sure miss him. :emoticon 0152 heart:

I passed 2 churches on my way back home and they had people driving into the parking lots for the DRIVE-Thru Fish Fry FRIDAY. With the snow coming down as hard as it is right now I bet they’ll get more Drive-Thru’s anf inside business today. Bummer if they don’t sell everything.
I already took out a Quiche I made a few weeks ago, so I didn’t stop to buy this week. Love supporting the local churches. They are all such HARD WORKING SENIORS who out on the Fish Fry’s.
Lee: Get a extension on your stay in Florida. It’s not going to be easy coming home and missing those walks.
You guys really need to book for Feb & March. Better weather down in Florida and better weather when you would come back 1st of April. I miss being down there now. Except that this year the Gulf by Longboat Key had lots of RED TIDE DAYS with dead fish on shore and stinky smells and burning of your eyes. I follow a few sites and it wasn’t always very nice!
Okay, story hour is over. Gotta get dinner on the table.
My arm is not sore from that Shingle shot! Whew!

I recognized the names in “My Fellow Americans” Karen. I just had to look up the plot and couldn’t believe how many other well known names were in it! You weren’t up on that roof helping slug shingles, we’re you?
We actually depart a week sooner than we used to Kathie. This week has been quiet”ish” but some areas start spring break next week. It gets even worse the week after. You had asked about the pool. We use it regularly. Pool heat is included in our amazingly reasonable rate so we don’t worry about it. $1800 bucks is kinda like winning a lottery prize!
With no cable here Bill we get no new shows. Fortunately we can catch up once we get home. Our doc gives us enough “reps” so we have ample meds to get us through our nine weeks away. We have to sign a letter from the pharmacy that we will be out of the country an need enough stuff to get us through the time away.
Yep Nancy, I read too fast. I thought you were going to try some pot to relieve the aches and pains. I reread it and you’re going to “pot” some plants. Maybe my medical pot idea isn’t too bad either…
Hmmm. What six months would you like Lu-Ann and I as neighbours Pat? I’m betting he wouldn’t be offering the months we’d consider. Plus, I don’t fish either.
To quote Katie…BORING LONG POST. SKIP IF YOU’re not into chit chat! Ha ha.
We have now changed our hotels going home back to my beloved Drury’s. We changed Atlanta when they tacked on a $25 pet fee on the way down. I tried to call Lexington to see if the had a pet fee now. After 2 days of not getting an answer I called Wyndham’s customer service. I clearly explained what I was trying to find out and the dude read me the per policy which states individual properties “may” charge a pet fee. He tried to call them and couldn’t get an answer. So, for a few bucks more, including breakfast, 5:30 kickback light dinner and free wine we went back to Drury. There’s not one in Lexington so we’re in Louisville for a night. Maybe I’ll get to see the giant Louisville Slugger Baseball Bat at their factory!
See you tomorrow my friends.

Lee: How sad that you guys are wrapping up a lovely vacation already. When you start to make reservations and changes you know it's almost over. Good to know you used the pool. Would be a shame to have it nice and warm and nobody getting into it. I just don't know when you FOUND THE TIME to use it. :emoticon 0140 rofl: Always on the go.
So.... the BIG QUESTION.... did you book for NEXT YEAR? I'll split MARCH with you! Ha Ha.

The SNOW IS COMING DOWN FAST HEAVY and WIND is Furious. Good night to snuggle up on the coach and see if we can find that Movie Karen posted about.

Nancy: Lee has a good point. CBD for your hands and neck. I'd try anything at this point if I were you. You can get a Topical Oil or sauve.

Out of here for now. Off to make a batch of Apple Fritters. Yup, when I get the urge to have something nothing can stop me. YUM. I only have 2 Apples handy so it won't be too many. They re-heat very nicely if we have left overs to have with our morning coffee..
