Good afternoon my friends.
Another dull day here in The Burg. The waterfront was pretty quiet when we took the pups for their walk though. We came home and I baked another batch of ginger cookies as Jan and Dave are popping over this afternoon before we revert to the grey lockdown at 12:01 am. Lu-Ann and I wish that the lockdown was tighter. More like we had back in the spring.
Good luck with your meeting this afternoon Karen. I'm sure Tony could and may even has shared some of his experiences with HOA's. We know that Pat and Bert sat on committees in their community as well. I've never found USPS to be all that reliable in Florida. Hope they get their act together for you! Eva also seems to have an interest in the tree. That explains why we have no gifts under the tree...
Now people will moan about the fact that the community doesn't do anything Pat. Even if it's pointed out that support for the Christmas dinner was small and there were last minute cancellations. Every time I see an Amazon ad here I think of how insane it must be for Missy!
We got one of those mattresses that comes in a roll Kathie. I was skeptical but so far it seems just fine! Same problem though. You can rotate it but you can't flip it because of the way the foam is layered. I commend you and Art for staying home this winter. We have no choice! I just missed you good lady! How neat to have a history of Art's family.
Don't you just love the delivery window that delivery companies give you Dave. Is this a fancy pillow top mattress? Do they take away your old one?
Agreed Tony. t will do everything he can to avoid time behind bars. As you would know we have a three party system here in Canada. There are a couple of "also ran" party's but three main ones. We often get in to "minority governments" where the party with the most votes but not a majority needs the support of one of the other party's to stay in power and get things done. That could work if the Dems and remnants of the GOP were to gang up on the retrumplicans.
Anyway, almost time for Jan and Dave to arrive.
I heard this tune on the radio this morning and thought that the opening verse, especially, reminded me of someone. How did Randy Newman know that back in 1977!

Hi, hoping to get some prayers for our granddaughter Taylor. She had her tonsils out on Thursday (she had a number of strep infections this year so they advised taking them out) and last night she was rushed to the hospital as she woke up choking on blood. They have managed to control the bleeding as of now, but if it starts again they will need to operate again and cauterize the area. She was told it would be a tough recuperation, but no one expected this. She is scheduled to graduate from college in May, so she is definitely older than the average tonsil patient, but it's just the past year that she has had an issue with them.

I feel as though all we do lately is go to the local hospital. Bill had a visiting nurse visit on Thursday, she thought his blood pressure was too low, so she sent him to urgent care. They gave him and IV and sent him home, telling him to come back Friday and get his bp checked again. He called me from there to tell me they were sending him by ambulance to the hospital. They wouldn't let me drive him, the urgent care was about one mile from the hospital, so they called the ambulance, and when he got in the ambulance his bp was fine. It was fine the whole time in the hospital (they kept him overnight) and he came home yesterday. This has been one heck of a roller coaster ride and I know I am ready to get off this ride! So please, keep our family in your prayers.

Other than that, everything is just peachy keen.

Beautiful day here today. Temp went up to 82!! That's not going to last though. There's another cold front headed this way later in the week.

Just found out that M&J are on their way over to pick up the pressure washer. That also means dinner will be involved. Just going to order wings from the wing place right outside our community. They do great wings and have delicious fries and onion rings. No work for mama tonight!!!

Also time for me to check out for tonight. By the time they leave, I will be ready for bed for sure. Have a wonderful evening and night. I will see you tomorrow.

Survived my first board meeting....we did not have a quorum so it was not an "official" annual meeting...but the president said we were required by law to hold a board meeting...and for a regular meeting we did not need the quorum...of course one woman stormed out saying it's not an annual meeting...you can't have this meeting...it's going to be an interesting 3 yrs I believe....

Our dinner was yummy. Hit the spot on a chilly damp night. I can’t seem to get warm enough tonight.

BB: Hope you have a good visit with M & J. Amazon must be working those employee’s to their death. Hope she’s saving some of that extra over time money for a rainy day!

I’m going to take the Jam Jar and sit at the kitchen table and sandwich two pieces of the cookies I made earlier together. Then they get rolled in Vanilla Infused Powdered Sugar and put in a container to age! They will taste perfect in a week.

Rita, I hope things turn around quickly for You, Bill and Taylor. Scary stuff you all are dealing with. Was the bleeding due to the tonsils not being removed properly?

Lee, I could be wrong, but I believe Kathie is bringing up that you are now shorter than you were four years ago so that she can identify you with the “short song”. That’s just not right.

I have been exchanging emails with Roland Edstrom. He was asking me about trump and William Barr. For those of you that do not know Roland, he lives in Sweden and was one of the originals on the cruise critic thread.

He gave us so much information on Radiance Class when they being designed and built. Several of us sailed with him and I have the tee shirt.

He is definitely not a fan of trump and trumpies. It is interesting that he knows so much about US politics.

Karen, even though there may be some grumbling with some home owners, I think you will learn a lot and will soon be anticipating who is going to say what and be prepared. Most of the time, people just want a logical explanation on how decisions are made.

Best of wishes on a quick recovery of your granddaughter Rita. And sure hoping that Bill is able stay home and not need to visit an urgent-care place or the hospital any time soon, Rita.

I've got to admit K2 that I've never heard of aging pastries for a better taste.. Usually it's only because nobody liked them.

It's amazing how many Europeans are better informed on U.S. politics and policies than we are, San.

You're a better person than I KC for volunteering for that position, Madam Vice President. I don't do well around stupid and annoying people.

Lee; No "pillow top" mattress for us. To be honest, I'm not even sure what that is. And no, they wouldn't take away our old one. But our trash company will for $23. The new one is a freckle higher than the old one. Now Kathi's feet dangle when she sits on the side of the bed. Loved your video.

Back to the new mattress; Kathi and I struggled getting the old one out of our bedroom and into the garage. Damn, I'd forgotten how heavy mattresses are. And yet when the new one showed up, two guys stepped out of the truck, but just one guy put it on his back and carried it from the street to the house. Sure made me look like a wimp.

BB; Time for you and Bert to get out in that ole Caddy and scope out Christmas lights in your community. Christmas will be over before you know it. It's less than 2 weeks away now.

Amazon gave me a smile yesterday. When your package is close to your house you can follow on your phone where it is in real time. But instead of an "X" on your screen showing where the truck is, it shows Santa in his sleigh.

Not going to be able to stay on here very long, as Missy is bringing the kids here to spend some time with us while she does some last minute shopping and picking up things she has on layaway. She went to pay it off yesterday, but hey told her she has to take it immediately then. She had the kids with her, so she left a balance on the layaway - $1.00!!

Rita - OMG! You sure did have a horrible weekend all around. I hope Taylor & Bill are feeling better now and that things are clamed down today. None of you need that kind of troubles this time of the year, but it seems so like the rest of 2020. Sh*t happens too much this year!

Dave - One of the reasons that mattress was so heavy is that it gets dust and dead skin cells in it which increase the weight. How many years did you have that mattress? We're not the only thing to gain weight as we get older!!

San - Gosh, it's been a long time since I heard from Roland. I didn't know if he was even still alive. Next time you message him, tell him I said hello and wish him and G-B a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year, please.

Rita: Sure hope things are much better today for Taylor. I had my tonsils taken out at 27 yrs old. Everything went smoothly....thank goodness. I suffered with strep throat for years.

Dave: Good you got the new mattress. How was your first sleep on it?
Bummer you couldn’t get the delivery guy to take out your old one. At least to the front porch. Also, bummer you have to pay for the trash pick up of the old one.

SAN: I remember Roland. You cruisers did pick his brain for information on new ships, etc. Nice fella. Good that you two still keep in touch.

Well, I just burned 2 Pizzelles because I’m trying to post and watch the timer at the same time. I can chew gum and walk at the same time. Thought I’d throw that in here before one of you “smart as?“ guys brings it up!

Art is out at the dentist for a cleaning! Then he’s going to go buy PASSES for the various Parks we go to and Jill goes to in her area. He said one of them went up to $30 bucks! Expensive, but much cheaper than paying each time you go to the park. Our pass works for all Michigan Metro Parks.

Okay, I need to pay attention to these cookies right now. Burning too many.

Wow... I am a “Able Seaman” and BB is only a “Ordinary Seaman”. Too funny.

Finished my Pizzelles! 120 good ones. I toss about 12 burnt ones and Art got 9 that were So/So!
All in all it went well. Got finished just as Art came back from buying all his Park passes and getting a Allergy shot. That was the 1st time Art had been out and about except for his bike rides!
I saw 10-18 SNOWFLAKES OUTSIDE. It’s coming. 32F right now.
Made some Peanut Butter cookies the other day with Hershey Candy Cane Kisses on top.

How much Sponge Bob Squarepants does it take to go into Sponge Bob overload? However much it is, I think I'm just about at that point! The kids don't want to watch anything else and this has been going on since they got here. At least they aren't pestering each other like they do when TV is not on, so I guess it's worth putting up with Sponge Bob, Squigward, Patrik and Mr Crabs even if it leaves me braindead by the time they go home. I'd much rather be watching them certifying electoral votes instead, but I guess I can't have everything, right?

K2 - You have a lot more energy than I have. I still have so much baking to do and just haven't been able to get motivated. I had Bert buy everything I need to bake, so I guess somewhere along the line I have to get started.

Is it 5 o'clock yet? It is somewhere. Time for a glass of wine!

K2 - I see you were showing off all your baking again! Pizzelles look good. Sure is a lot of them that you made! I might get around to making peanut butter cookies, but will probably use chocolate kisses.

In a way it’s a good thing that you had a “bump” at your first meeting Karen. At least that way you have a sense of what you may be faced with.
Gonna take a dry run to the hospital tomorrow. My MRI is Wednesday morning so I’d like to know where I’m going. Our hospital is split across three “campuses”. I want to scope out the parking and door I’m supposed to use.

After yesterday's electoral college voting I'd bet that there is a Buffoon CrankyPants in the White House now.

New mattress is just fine. But I'm going to have to relocate the 20 year old mattress so I can open the garage freezer and still get Kathi's car in there. We're stuck with the old one till it can be picked up next Monday. They have a garbage truck that picks up only larger items.

A cold, 25F, but bright start to the day. We had a nice walk along the river by Fort Malden. FedEx dropped our food box off just before we left so it was nice to get it off the porch and into the fridge. On tonight's menu...Mexican style shrimp bowls.

I wondered who would jump on that Dave. It made the little boy in me chuckle. Did you know that peanut butter is a proven remedy for hiccups!
Speaking of little boys I hope that t is picking up his toys and packing his toy box. I watched until Hawaii cast the final 4 votes to completely seal the deal Tony. Congrats to President Elect Mr. Biden and his team.
For now Kathie it doesn't loo like the border will open any time soon. Numbers in Windsor Essex have taken an unexpected spike! Many other areas across Canada are seeing increases. The scary part is that the "officials" don't seem to know how or why.
I'm gonna finish my coffee and do my run to the hospital. I hate to be late and like to know where I'm going both on the road and where the parking is once I get there.
When we get back I'm going to pull a Kathie and get the carpet cleaner out. We want those carpets nice and clean for when nobody comes over this holiday season.

Good morning, y'all! Getting a slow start on today, but that's ok. Nothing much is scheduled to go on around here, except for making baby back ribs for dinner. Every time I make baby back ribs, the old Chili's song runs through my head. Now have I got you singing it too?

Lee - Thanks for posting Spongebob theme, so I can listen to it anytime I want without putting the TV on. I believe they show that program 24/7, as it's always available and the kids will find it!

Dave - We have to make arrangements to have larger items picked up also, but in many cases, it doesn't cost us anything, including mattresses. You still haven't told us what kind of mattress Kathi bought. Is it a sleep number one of one where each side can go up or down as you want? Or is it the good old fashioned kind that we've all had for our entire life?

San - I agree with you. Those titles are in the wrong order definitely. I think John messed up there, but hey, I really don't care one way or the other!!

Rita - How did Taylor make out? ALso how's Bill doing? I hope you realize you waited too long before coming to Florida. Stay safe with that storm that's coming and for goodness sake, stay home!!

I too was thrilled to see those electoral college votes cast the way they were meant to be cast. Lil t still isn't finished. Now he's holding out hope that congress will give it to him when they meet in early January. Heck, even his friend Putin has congratulated Joe Biden. So long, lil t, you're done!!

Gary may come over today to go through all these boxes that have been delivered here for Elaine and the boys. he has to get everything wrapped and then figure out a way to get it all back to his house. This is going to be good as there's all the parts for 3 computers plus a boxed bicycle and one of those retro little refrigerators that Elaine wanted for her classroom, among other things. Good thing no one is coming to visit this week, as the inn would be full, but not with people!!

Time to do a few things before I need to prep those ribs to go in the oven. Low and slow makes for fall off the bone tender ribs, so that will take time. Quick HELLO! Made another batch of Pizzelles with Cocco powder added. Not bad! Adds a little color to the pkgs when I wrap them up to give to folks! Delivery is going to be DOOR STOP and quick! Dave....Lemon is my favorite too.

Lee: Remind us just why you are having this MRI? I know you told us, but I'll be danged if I can remember. Just precautionary I hope! I have my MRA (the brain one) again next week! That's just a follow up with the Neurologist who didn't like the other hospitals machines!

It's COLD here today. Glad the kitchen is warm.

BB: Baby Back ribs sound good. I ordered a slab from the Meat Shoppe last week and they're in the freezer. They were less expensive than Ground Round. Unreal what this butcher get's for his ground round and chuck. It is better quality than the grocery store, so I don't mine paying for it. His steaks are still too pricey for us to buy without signing over the deed to the house. Good thing we're not big BEEF eaters.

I still think it's fantastic that BARR is leaving next week. Sure took a lot of CRAP from the T-man all this time. No matter what crazy and weird things Biden does or doesn't do the next 4 years it WILL BE BETTER than the LAST 4 years for sure.
