Why do I think that Punxatawny Phil is an optimist?
Good news is that Jamie is back home from the hospital. Now we still need to get similar news about BB and
things will be good once again.
Lee, when you mentioned the ridiculously high price of gasoline in the Orlando area, I was thinking that when we first arrived in Vero Beach, some stations were offering gas at as little as $2.95 and that when I had to get gas last week it had risen to $2.16 but was nowhere near the price you mentioned. Imagine my reaction today when I passed that same station and noted that their price was now $2.43. I don't know how much tread was left on the Prius before I replaced all four tires, although the car passed its most recent safety inspection last October, but despite the warmer weather we are experiencing which previously would have resulted in 50 mpg, I am currently only getting 39mpg. Only reason that I can attribute it to is the new tires.
Never did get to the pool today but the warm temperatures predicted for the rest of the week are promising.
No mail for the second time this week and when we do get forwarded mail it appears to be taking a minimum of six to seven days. I had thought that Biden had named a new member to the group that has the power to replace DuJoy but apparently he is still in charge and doing his best to mess up the USPS operation.

LEE, LU-ANN, BILL & RITA, you snowbirds have to be loving todays temps and Thurs & Friday’s that will be even warmer! Get out there and soak up that sunshine by your pools! You can do all the driving around when the temps drop! Happy for you!
Also, happy for the other Florida gang!

Still snowing here in Michigan. BLOWING WINDS are making drifts and the TEMPS have DROPPED to 23F. BUT.... they just announced that we're not suppose to get as much snow as they predicted. Wonder what some of those CRAZY GROCERY shoppers are going to do with all that food they bought? Ha Ha

We've been watching the Marcella series. We're into Season 2, Episode 5. Keeps you guessing.

Nite all.

Bill: Glad to read that Jamie is HOME.

PAT: You better get your butt back home too.

Today is going to be "interesting" in Ohio. Here in Massillon, it finally shifted over from rain and sleet to snow at around 4 this morning. Now it's going to snow all day and into Friday morning. Guesstimates figure that will give us 8-10 inches of the white stuff.

But the whole state is under a winter storm watch. And we knew it was coming. Heck when I was at the doctor's yesterday morning at around 9 AM, they had already decided to close the office today, and were calling patients to reschedule appointments. Of course, all schools have been closed for today. And probably will be on Friday too.

You can stop sending this weather down to us K2. Circulation test on my legs wasn't good, but not bad enough for any kind of surgery. So for now just keep taking my blood thinning drugs and keep using the treadmill.

So Bill; "Three hairs past a freckle, Eastern arm time", just wasn't good enough for you?

Losing weight is NEVER easy, Nancy. Any exercise regiment? Yippey! No leaks in the new dishwasher.

That's a neat idea Lee; Switching sides of the street every month for on-road parking. We grocery shopped at the smaller store, of the 2 we go to. It's still part of a chain, but this chain is locally owned.

Hiya BB, and Mrs. Calabash, wherever you are.

I'm a big fan of Rachel Maddow. Very smart and quite entertaining. Has a gift to explain complicated news stories. So I'm a bit ticked that tonight on MSNBC @ 9 it will be the last show she'll be on for 2 months.

It seems that one of her books is being turned into a movie so she's taking a break from her TV show to assist in its' production. Plus work on her podcast. (Seems like everyone has a podcast now.) And other projects she's interested in.

Have a good day Wabbits.

And don't forget to look up my podcast, my Facebook page, Instagram, and Twitter posts. And TickTok too.

Lots of luck finding any of them.

This is for BILL! Just in case those 2 watches don't tell you what day it is! :)

DAVE: Our snow wasn't as bad as they had predicted. I don't know how many inches we got, but it stopped around 10-11:00 pm last night and we just have horrible WINDS.
Glad you don't have to have any surgery on your legs. Just keep up the treadmill. Did you ever think of getting one of those FOOT PEDAL gizmos that you put in front of you while you're watching TV and you pedal to keep the circulation going?

Sorry you're getting hit with the rain/snow now. I shut the door at Toledo on I75. Somebody must have opened it again! :emoticon 0104 surprised:

I did manage to get out and do the bottom curb area AS SOON AS THE PLOW GUY filled it up with WET HEAVY SNOW. Whew! Glad I did it before it froze solid. Our Eddie guy came around and used his snowblower one time yesterday evening. He's gotten smarter and only came one time. Last year he came around at least 2 times when it snowed. I'm sure he'll be around sometime today. The winds made some huge drifts on the front porch!

Lee: So at least now after this 1st BIG SNOWSTORM of 2022 it has to make you feel better that you're in Florida and not the 'Burg! Do you have somebody watching your house? Hopefully, they'll make it look like somebody is home by doing your driveway!

Karen: How's Scooter doing today? Hope better. Are you warming up over your way?

Nancy: Have you done a cycle of dishes yet? What brand of dishwasher did you end up with. I need to buy a new one soon.

Out of here for now.

Pat I hope you'll be coming home soon. Hate to see you have to go to Rehab again. Sure hope they are making you get up and walk around.

DAVE: 11:30 am Thurs and I’m watching my favorite Weather Station ( channel 42 here) and they were LIVE in Columbus, OHIO and the guy was reporting freezing light rain right now. He said they are expecting SNOW later in the day. Stay safe over your way Buddy!

Eddie came by and cleared the snow about 1 hr ago.

Okay, back to my knitting! Later I am making a batch of Biscotti for Art. The man loves to munch on something while doing his crossword puzzles!

Have a fun day folks!

Lee: Light drifting snow since NOON here in our area. Bet that makes you feel warmer! LOL

Made a batch of Oatmeal Raisin cookies. Art's request. He'll have these gone in 2 days or sooner. Ha Ha I hope he realizes the power of Raisins and Oatmeal together!

Ya, I wouldn’t feel bad for me either. We thought we’d park at The Springs, catch a bus to The Riviera (no non guest parking at Disney Properties) hop on The Skyliner and tour some hotels. On the way we noticed The Skyliner wasn’t moving. Hmmm. No worries, we’ll hop a water taxi and, we’ll, nope. They didn’t start until 10:30 today. So, we wandered around The Springs for a bit. Had lunch at Blaze Pizza. Headed back to the house and hit the pool. Like I said, I wouldn’t feel bad for me either.
Kathie, all that baking is making me hungry! I would have asked you to toss some chocolate chips in with the raisins in those oatmeal cookies. Yes, our friends are doing a weekly walk through, collecting our mail and clearing the driveway. With the snow this past few days we are sure appreciative of their attention to our place.
Actually Dave I spent a good part of the afternoon Googling all of your social media sites. Did you know that among other things you are a British Comedian! That weather pattern your way just sounds ugly. I’m glad you and Kathi got to the grocery and Doc yesterday. Your diagnosis is a good news / bad news thing. Cudos to you for doing the best you can on the treadmill.
So glad to hear that Jamie is at least at home Bill. Lu-Ann thinks that the rising fuel prices has to do with the snow birds and tourists starting to come back into The Sunshine State.
I do hope that the rest of you are all having a great Thursday!
Talk to you all tomorrow.u

Where's a snowmobile for me on days like this? It would be so much fun buzzing around the neighborhood.

Instead, Kathi and I are heading out this morning and seeing what we can do to get this snow off the driveway and the walk to the front door.

It's going to be interesting. There's a layer of snow on the bottom, then a layer of frozen rain, (ice), and on top is another layer of snow. This snow is finally going to come to an end later this morning. 20 degrees will be the high for today.

You sure are a bundle of energy K2 during this cold weather. From snow shoveling, to cooking, to baking. Yes, I'd love to have a stationary bike or one of those "FOOT PEDAL gizmos". The idea of exercising while sitting down is very attractive to me.

Loved your cartoon.

All northerners in the pool with you Lee? I'm so jealous. Lu-Ann may be on to something about the gas prices going up around you. With thousands of snowbirds arriving in your area, it pushes demand up. Around here the price has been holding pretty steady, around $3.29 a gallon.

Now that the Washington football team has been renamed the "Commanders", I'm still deciding whether I totally like that name. It's not bad, not great, but not bad. I understand it took them 18 months to come up with that name.

But instead of a doofy little crest, I think their logo should be a 17 hundreds ship's commander. Pointy hat and all.

Hi to all you other Bunnies!

Good morning!
No matter where you are or what the temperature is one thing is pretty consistent. It’s dark at 6:00 in the morning. ;)
Hopefully the base layer of snow will make it a bit easier to clear your drive and walk way Dave. Better than the ice first covered by all the snow. Where are those kids with their shovels when you need them? The bottom line is that BOTH you and Kathi don’t over do it!
How many cookies are left Kathie? Like gas mileage, what is Art’s “Cookies per Crossword” rating?
Hopefully Miss Scooter is doing well Karen.
I suspect the golfer weather indicators at your condo are showing favourable conditions for your area today Bill.
Nancy, will you and Bruce will be watching the Busch Lite event from the LA Coliseum this weekend?
Friends who are 5 minutes away in the next community over are popping by this afternoon for a visit. I suspect some wine, beer and a snack or two could be happening by the pool.
Each and every one of you enjoy your Friday.

The weather here, yesterday and today, is what we came to Florida to experience. Breezy but warm and sunny enough that we spent about half an hour at the pool yesterday before heading to Publix to stock up on needed groceries. That cart has proven invaluable in getting all the bags of groceries from the car to the condo. When we get home it will be helpful in getting groceries into the house from the garage.
We'll probably return to the pool again today for at least a little while.
Third day without any mail. Most of our bills come electronically but this seems to be an unusual amount of time to not be getting some first class mail.
Glad that Jamie's stay in the hospital was brief and gope we get some good news about BB soon. Everyone else, stay safe and warm wherever you are.

Afternoon...just a quick check in from me...Scooter seems to be doing better...fingers crossed cause she seems to get side tracked in no time at all...
Wendy's SIL passed away around 10:30 Wed. night...his wife is going to have him cremated & hold a memorial service later...they have a lot of family up in Ohio & with the weather there is no way they could make it down...

Dave, glad the Dr. visit went as well as could be expected...let this be an incentive to get on that treadmill EVERY DAY!! Hope you & Kathi took it easy with the snow removal...those were some wicked sounding layers!
Kathie, cute cartoon....I just wish I could claim the cat's as dependents...that would help my tax bill a LOT!!
Bill, glad you were finally able to make it to the pool...did you actually venture in or just sit poolside & read? Even with a heated pool I imagine that wind would make things a bit chilly when you got out....good news about Jaime getting to come home!
lee, thank you for your efforts to boost the Florida economy!! Snacks by the pool sound like a lovely way to spend an afternoon...I had lunch at the pool today along with the rest of the Poolies...
Other than that not much else going on around here...next week starts my Doctor appointment marathon...Mon. I have the dermatologist, Tues. the EN&T specialist...Wed. is free & Thurs. is Scooters return trip to the vet...oh the joy's of being a retired old person....

oh the joy's of being a retired old person....
Doesn’t it make you wonder how you got things done before you retired Karen? In no stretch of the imagination would I consider you an “old” person! A good call by Wendy’s family at a hard time. Go Scooter!
Thankfully we get all of our bills electronically Bill. And we pay them the same way. We get so little other mail we have friends collect it weekly for us. After snacks we hit the pool for a bit. With the forecast we figured it was good to get pool time while we could!
Seems the pups want to be fed. Again! And a walk before and after dinner. Is there no end to their demands?
Be good everyone. And everyone who seems to be laying low today.

Good Saturday morning, Bunnies!

Mission accomplished yesterday. The drive and the walk to the front porch have been cleared of 10 inches of snow. How do I know it was 10 inches? Kathi actually brought out a ruler to see. She did most of the snow-blowing, seeing as my legs are so weak now.

The snow-blower wasn't phased when it started chewing into the layer of ice in the middle of the snow. But it was funny to listen to. It sounded as if it were spitting out gravel.

I'm with you and Lee, KC. It would be FANTASTIC if we could claim our pets as dependents on our taxes. Heck, just give us 1/2 the credit a kid gets. Hang in there Scooter!

Lee, I was wondering if you or any of your friends actually got in the pool yesterday until I read your last post. Your mention of paying your bills on the internet reminded me of a problem Kathi was trying to solve yesterday. Our newspaper carrier let us know that there was a STOP on our deliveries. After spending well over an hour on hold, she was told that the bill hadn't been paid. WHAT? It's handled by an automatic deduction from our checking account. Turns out that the newspaper had a computer upgrade, and quite a few people got their payment method all screwed up in the transfer of data. Famous last words, we should once again be getting a paper this morning. (If it's not already in the box.)

Good for you Bill on getting that grocery cart. It really, really works. And will also work when you get home. I still get a kick out of how you can tell the weather by just looking out at the golf course. Temperature and even the wind speed.

Around here today it'll be chilly, teens & 20's, but at least there will be no more snow. As a matter of fact, no snow forecast for the next week.

Try and behave today Bunnies.

A little rain to keep the dust down here in central Florida this fine Saturday morning.
Now Dave, that would be the compressed depth of the ice and snow so likely there was more when it all first came down. How many other customers didn’t get a paper and contacted the office? Wouldn’t you think after a couple of dozen calls they would have wondered if there was a problem?
We’ve had our early morning walk which featured Ava reacting to an armadillo. Like all deep chested dogs they have to wait after a long walk or a run in their yard before they can eat. A long walk or a run in the yard are two things they wouldn’t be doing at home with the temps, ice and snow!
I asked Lu-Ann if she’d seen anything from Momma Bunny on Facebook. As opposed to her last stay at “Hotel du Celebration“ she hasn’t seen a thing. I find that concerning.
So, let’s just say that you are all in my good thoughts to be safe and sound and a little so extra for Pat.
Whether you are indoors, outdoors or a little of both, enjoy your day.

WELCOME BACK TO THE HUTCH PAT!

So did you get tired of the hospital food and decided it was time to get back home? Ha ha.
Seriously, I hope they helped straighten out those lungs of yours. We missed you.

Dave, glad the snow finally stopped on your area. Here it’s VERY SUNNY and vwrry COLD. Glad I don’t have to go outside.

Lee: Hope you guys are taking in the 80’s temps. You need to start bottling up the warmth to being back home with you.

Good you have friends doing the weekly walk-through of your home. I saw a house on TV here in Detroit where the water line broke inside the home and the homeowners were away for 2 days. The neighbors saw water coming out the front doors down the walkway and called them to come home. The owners called the water dept to SHUT OFF their water and after 5 calls they asked the TV news station to reach out and a crew came and shut the water off. The water dept said they will compensate the owner for the damage. They might have to MOVE-because the foundation was compromised. Horrible to see.
Another good reason to Have neighbors or friends check your house in these frigid temps.

PAT: So give us a update on what they did with you while you were in the hospital! Don’t forget to get up and walk around the house and lanai. It’s good for you.

Karen so good to read that Scooter is doing better. Hope it continues.

Okay Wrabbits, I just got done making Artie some Bourbon Almond Biscotti’s. I cut them thinner so I got more pieces and that way they might just last a few days more. The man loves his sweets and munches a lot. More like GRAZING. HaHa.

WATCHING THE LUGE SPORT at the Olympics right now while knitting. I’d love to go down that Luge Run once in my lifetime. WOW….the speed!!

Later gang….have a good day.

Yesterday was our second day at the pool but I simply sat by it and didn't venture in. It is supposedly heated but those few people who I saw in the water said it was chilly. Dianne and Rich came over and the four of us sat at a table in a screened in area and caught up on things. It was also the fourth day without any mail and when Kevin stopped by our development back home he found the mailbox filled with first class unforwarded mail. This morning I called the USPS and at first made the mistake of calling the 800 number that I found online. When I called I got caught up in one of those frustrating loops that eventually ended up telling me that if I left my number I would get a call back in 20 to 30 minutes. I then checked and found a direct number for the East Bridgewater PO and when I called that number, I actually reached a human being who listened to my problem and promised to see that it was corrected. Should have called him first. About ten minutes after I spoke to him, the call back came through but since the issue was resolved I handled that call quickly.
How the heck many countries are participating in the Winter Games? At some point I began to wonder if the parade of athletes would ever end. I have always thought that the order of march was, except for Greece at the beginning and the host nation at the end, was somehow organized alphabetically, but that clearly was not the case this year.
Fascinating special effects and fireworks.
Weather is returning to cooler temperatures so pool time may be limited.

Momma Bunny is back! Got home last night and feel so much better, They really ran me through the mill and fine tuned a lot of stuff. Now I just have to take it easy for a few days. I haven't gone back & read anything yet, so while I do, make sure you straighten up your corner of the hutch so that it will pass inspection when I go check it!! Started tacking my taxes today...and as usual get all the way to the end of the "free" tax program & they want to charge me...dang it...it's only $10 this time so I'm seriously thinking about just paying it so I don't have to go thru & re-enter all the information again...what a pain..maybe after I go have some lunch I will feel like trying again...later gang
