Return of the Cruising Bunny's....

Water Douse GIF
STILL RAINING. It's been going on ALL NIGHT. STEADY! Not suppose to stop until sometime Thursday. The CREEK is UP and we posted a NO WAKE SIGN!
Gloomy outside big time.

DAVE: You think that COP could have cut a little slack to the folks that parked their cars in the street. Was it raining at the time? And we all know that those TOWING COMPANIES don't give a darn why you parked where you did. They still won't release your car without the hefty payment. Lots of angry residents out there for sure.

The DOME on the Library is GOLD. Really neat. And it has lights inside around the rim. It's awesome. I'm thinking they will have some Michael Angelo get up there and paint inside of it one day. Then again, why...........it looks awesome the way it is. Reminds me of our church dome.

Today is a CROCK POT type of a day. Only trouble is I don't have a Pot Roast or anything else to put in my crock pot! Might have to make a trip to the Meat Market..... then again, is it really worth it to go out in the rain?

Lee: I don't think you'll be walking the pupsters today. Time to dig out a puzzle and keep yourself busy.

Now about PRINTER INK being expensive. I signed up for Instant Ink by HP when we got our latest printer. They know when you're running out of ink and send you a refill. I only have 2 different cartridges in this printer. It is SO MUCH CHEAPER than buying ink in the store. I pay a fraction of what I use to pay. And I was buying at Costco back then.
www.hpinstantink.com I'm thinking you have to have a HP Printer for this to work.

You Southern Belles have a good day. Hope it's not raining by you.

I'm off to make some Cream of Wheat for us with fresh Blueberries on top! Be back later.

Good Morning...grey over cast day here in Belleview but so far no rain...

Lee, if you keep that pace up on the treadmill we are going to have to start calling you the Marathon Man!!
We still have a Beef O'Brady's here in Ocala...

Pat, did you convince Bert to take you to lunch yesterday? It's the least he could do since you'd been housebound for a few days thanks to the Caddy having a hissy fit...

Dave, gotta just love the lack of planning by some municipal groups...will you be out supervising in your plastic lawn chair when work does actually begin? After all, those ARE your tax dollars at work...

Kathie, nice that you can get a good deal on ink...I have a Kodak printer that only takes 2 cartridges also..when I first got it Black ink was about $8 and color was about $15....now black is almost $20 and I don't even know how much color is...I never print in color if I can help it...

Yesterday turned out to be a beautiful day here! Got Jane's front yard mowed & the cement edgers I had painted set in the ground around her flower bed...then it was pool time for a couple hours...we didn't get any rain till around 5 or so...
Taking Scooter back to the vet tomorrow...she is still doing the pacing & meowling day & night now...I'm going to have the vet run tests on a couple of the issues she said it "could" be....if it turns out to just be stress or old age I'm going to see if she can take the CBD oil to calm her down a bit...I don't want her sedated...just relaxed a bit...I'm sure my credit card will be taking a major hit...but I don't want her suffering if there is a problem...
Need to get myself in gear & get dressed..they are picking meup around 12:30 for ceramics.....have a safe day all!

Good morning, everyone, and happy first day of fall! It actually feels a bit fall like here this morning. We just got back from dropping the kids off at school and on the way home saw how many people were out walking or jogging. It'll still make it into the upper 80s today, but come around 4 those dastardly wet t-storms should reappear for most of the evening. Glad I wasn't going anywhere!! Poor Bert is going to have to take Nathan to a track meet at 5:00. If the rains come, they will cancel it. If it isn't raining, Bert will have to pay $3. to stand there and watch. I'll definitely stay home!!

Kathie - That library is beautiful. It sounds like they thought of everything too. Lucky you! Now go and use it. Our closest library is just a small branch of the country library system. Bert puts in requests for books online and then gets a call when our branch is holding the book for him. Doing it that way seems to work well. He'll also order books that I want also, especially when a new release is coming out. I get "on the list" and he can see how many are before you to get the book. Sounds like you had a lot of rain up your way yesterday. Some areas between where Karen lives and where we are had over 5 inches of rain! Glad neither of us got that much, but we did get rain too.

Lee - Sounds like a good session yesterday with the cardio group. Glad you at least got to take the dogs for their walk afterwards. A lunch of Brussel Sprouts? No thanks! That is high on the list of my least liked veggies.
We managed to make it to the new Italian restaurant for lunch. This was only the second day they were open and there were a lot of glitches, especially what Missy ordered- an appetizer platter for 2 sampler. Bert got soup and a salad and I got 2 slices of pizza. I wasn't crazy about the pizza. There's better at the place a few miles away. Bert liked his soup & salad. We were both finished before Missy got her appetizer and it came out just barely warm. The owner stopped by to see how everything was and I pointed out that some of the stuff wasn't even warm. He immediately replaced that part, but never offered any compensation (discount) for the delay and it not being hot. I had a glass of wine that was a very bad pour and for a house wine, the price was too high. I think from now on, we'll just get takeout because even the iced tea was pricy. I don't think Tarantino's has anything to worry about. We'll stick to them mostly.

Dave - I'm with you when it comes to buying a car. I always hate the haggling on price. More than once over the years we bought cars from a dealer in Pennsylvania that the price you saw was the price you paid. If you weren't trading in anything, they dropped the price a few thousand dollars further. I bought my fist Impala Super sport from them right after Bert left for Vietnam! Then we bought a 9 passenger Chevy wagon from there after we had the 4 kids. Both of those cars were well worth it, especially the wagon. That was during the time that everyone wanted a car that ran on diesel fuel and no one wanted a gas driven one due to the high price of gas. We got a great price as compared to the diesel model that they couldn't keep in stock. I sure do miss Reidman's! That's too bad that the rains are messing up the repaving schedule. You'd have something to watch.

Karen - Glad the weather held for you yesterday and you got everything done that needed to get done. Have fun at ceramics. I hope the class isn't canceled again on you.

Got a funny one for you ... I told you the other day that I was making lamb shanks, right? By the way they were delicious and we actually have a bit left for tonight for someone. Yesterday we got the week's specials at the Grille and lo and behold the dinner special is none other than lamb shanks! What are the odds? This has happened 3 times now, so I swear the chef has our house bugged!! LOL

Not much planned for today, thank goodness. I got a lousy night's sleep last night. Maybe about 2 hours tops. I am definitely going to be looking into a nap today somewhere along the line. Time for a cup of coffee and hope that keeps me awake for a while longer.

Have an outstanding day, everyone, and all of you northerners stay dry with all that rain you're getting! :)

Blueberry Scones

Preheat oven to 400 degrees!

In a bowl:

2 Cups Flour
1/2 tea Salt

1/4 cup Sugar (more if you want sweeter scones)
STIR above ingredients to mix.

ADD:
1/2 stick of Cold BUTTER grated or cut in small pieces
1 full cup 1/2 & 1/2 cream
1/2 cup Fresh smaller Blueberries. (easier to mix than big ones)

With a FORK mix gently until it all JUST forms a ball. DO NOT OVER WORK.

Place on counter or pastry pad and shape with hands into a square, circle or whatever
shape you want. I do a
rectangle 1 1/2 " thick. I take a pastry scraper (or knife) and cut
it into big pieces or 12 small pieces. You don't want them too thin.

Place the scones on a cookie sheet w/parchment paper.
Take some 1/2 & 1/2 and brush the tops and then Sprinkle Course Baking Sugar on top only if you want to!

Bake about 15 mins or until light brown on top. (this depends on your oven) Just watch don't want to dry them out.
When cool you can mix some milk with Powdered Sugar and zig - zag across the tops.

Enjoy! K. Anderson Sept 22, 2021

Somewhere Tony just saw your recipe Kathie and cringed! I was wondering about your creek. I hope it didn’t damage you garden back there. That Cream of Wheat with blueberries sounds good! I made soup last night to have today. It’s always better the day after.
There was a break in the rain this morning so Katie and Ava got to have their walk by the river. The river was very angry this morning with the winds and rain. I didn’t envy the ferry captain making the run from Boblo to Amherstburg. About a three minute trip.
I have to confess Pat. When you tell us what’s planned for dinner I email The Grille. That’s too bad that the new place was a let down both food and service wise. The smart customer service move would have been to comp part of the meal or issue a gift card to come back and try them again.
A couple of times with new vehicles we have used this plan of attack. We research what we want in the vehicle, go to the dealership and get accosted by the salesperson. We tell them what we want and make it clear that we are not negotiating. We tell the sales person to look at our list and give us their best price which is good for 24 hours because we are going to other dealers and the best price wins. If the sales manager comes out we walk out. It worked for The VW Tiguan and Honda Fit. We didn’t have to do that for the van because I knew the prices and Wes gave us a very good price.
Now wait a second here. You hardly give Dave any grief over his breakfast choices but I’m a bad guy for sharing Brussel Sprouts with Lu-Ann for lunch?
Funny enough Karen that Beef’s didn’t come up on their website! I sure hope that a mild dose of CBD works for Scooter. You may want to consider CBD yourself when you get the vet bill for the tests you are looking at. Have fun at ceramics!
I hate to side with the police officer and towing company Dave but if the street was properly posted “no parking” I think he did the right thing. Were people also advised by mail or flyers about the work and days they could be impacted? The first time I got on the treadmill I think that Adam used a calendar as a timer! :D Gradually over the eight weeks I have slowly increased my pace. I’ll never do the 5K (3.1 miles) in 15 minutes but do have my goal to do it in the 45 minute range.
We ”may” venture to the vets to pick up Katie’s eye drops. Then, depending on the rain, we may not.
Whatever we do we’ll be careful doing it. Whatever you all do, you be careful too.

Back from ceramics class...the project is going to be nice...but I had forgotten some of the people in the class are die hard repubs....they started in on some of their nonsense today & I can tell it's gonna be hard for me to keep my mouth shut...will probably not be making anything else after my garden rock is done...

Kathie, your scone recipe sounds very similar to my cranberry one...but it also has an egg in it...

Missed lunch today so I think I am going to re-heat the last of my Bourbon chicken...I'm starving!

Oh yes, dear Tony is rolling over all my recipe & food chatter!
I just took the Flat bread out of the oven. Serbs make this type of bread all the time rather than loaves! Don’t ask me why!

Soup is done. You are right Lee. Soup, chili, sauces are all better the next day. But we can’t wait that long today!

Karen hope thing work out with Scooter tomorrow. I like what Kee said about YOU taking the CBD when you get the bill. Ha ha.

Art did get the 2nd coat of paint on the back door. Looks good. And with the overhead garage door closed it was nice and dry on the area! That paint dries fast.

Pat: I didn’t sleep good last night either. But no way would I take a nap. I’d be up all night.
I really think we need to invest in a new mattress. I want a King, but would have to but all new bed sheets, comforters, even pillows, bed frame etc. Not sure I’m up to spending that much money at this stage of my life! Ha ha

STILL RAINING STEADY HERE! No sign of slowing down.

Still Raining. Not as hard, but this is getting OLD REAL FAST!
Feel sorry for the Lawn Man. He's going to really be behind from all this rain.

Just got through watching a Octopus Documentary on Netflix. "My Octopus Teacher". It was really good. Well done.

It's CHILLY DAMP should make for some good sleeping! Let's hope so anyways.

Sleep Aid GIF by DeStress Monday
Ha ha.

Boy was yesterday's weather forecast off the mark. They were calling for an all day rain. Heck, it never started raining till 2 in the afternoon, and pretty much was done around 5 PM.

But it did give the street crew a chance to get going on grinding off the old surfaces. It turns out that all the streets in our neighborhood will be getting resurfaced. So, of course, they started on the other side of the neighborhood. But seeing as the no-parking signs are back up it looks like our street will be worked on today.

It was kind of neat to watch them do it on other streets yesterday. It was like watching a little train of vehicles and machinery. Leading the "train" was a big dump-truck followed be the grinder machine which shot all the old asphalt into the back of the dump-truck. Following the grinder machine was a vehicle that had this rotating round brush to clean off the road better. Which was followed by a street sweeper. Followed by a truck carrying a tank of water. Most likely to keep refilling the street sweeper.

Since Kathi has a morning hair appointment we'll be picking up the groceries a bit earlier today.

52 degrees here this morning. I guess it really is fall.

Good Late Mid-Morning.

Dave: We weren't as lucky as you when it came to the RAIN. It NEVER stopped until sometime this morning. The
WIND was the killer late last night. I thought for sure that the awning was going to be ripped off the frame on the deck. WOW. It left a nice mess of leaves that really weren't ready to come off the Maple tree all over the property. The Creek is still trying to slowly recede. Going to take awhile for sure.
Right now it's NOT RAINING, but still dreary looking out there.

How fun to watch them rip up your street. Nothing better than a nice new street. I still remember when they re-did my childhood homes street. It made it so nice for me to Roller Skate up and down it when it was finished. Did I tell you I was quite the Roller Skater back then? Ha Ha. Those nice metal kind of roller skates. Oh the memories of my youth.

I have nothing more for you fantastic people right now, so I'm going to give you a break and just go clean my Hutch Cubby.

Later...........

Good morning, everyone! For a change, we're not really expecting much rain today and it won't be as humid.

Kathie - Your flatbread looks good, but is nothing like the flatbread we see here. Here it's really FLAT and you can actually make different types of pizzas on it. They have 3 or 4 different types that they serve at the Grille! I always loved to roller skate on the street as a kid. I used to wear the wheels out and have to get new ones. Not long ago, Bert actually came across a skate key from when he was a kid. Later, as a teenager, I used to go to the indoor rink to skate. Our elderly neighbor across the street gave me her skates from when she was a professional rollerskater (not roller derby). She had also been one of the Ziegfeld girls in the Ziegfeld Follies! She was so well traveled. I loved to listen to her stories of "back in the day". Glad your rain finally stopped. So where is Art going to put the ark. Not in the newly painted garage, I hope!! LOL

Dave - It's always fun to watch a repaving project. They have to repave a lot of major roads here due to the excessive heat along with all our heavy rains. Add the amount of traffic they get and this becomes a major project every few years. Usually the line of equipment includes another truck putting down the remelted tar followed by steam rollers to smooth it all out. They can do a mile of repaving of 1 lane a night. That's when they can do the main roads (like the turnpike)as it's the only time traffic is lighter.

Karen - I hate when a group start talking politics out in public when they don't know how everyone else feels. It's how to get into battles. I know this as Brian and I have gone a few rounds on the telephone over the different presidents and getting Covid vaccine. He loves to quote obscure right wing anti maskers to make his point.

I've got to get off here for now. Getting the other crew over for dinner unexpectedly. Had to rethink dinner to feed the masses. Finally chose the old reliable - peppers, onions and sausage sandwiches (sorry Dave!) Now we have to head out and get peppers and the rolls. Plus more wine for me!!!

Hopefully, I'll get to stop back later, but even if I don't, I want to wish you all a great day! :)

Hi Pat. Your dinner sounds yummy.
That FLAT bread is really not a the kind you mentioned. I just didn't have a better way of explaining it. The Serbs make this size and thickness and just it in pieces to be eaten anyway or with anything you want. I know the kind you are talking about that they make Pizza's or just add Feta cheese and some good olive oil and spices and heat to melt the cheese. I love those in restaurants. They're good to buy plain and make your own on a low burning grill.

I've been on this computer for over a hour trying to figure out how to get the PRINT/ZOOM SIZE to stay the same like it was when I turned this computer on early this morning. I can ZOOM the size to BIGGER or SMALLER by using the ... button on the top right hand side of the computer, but it doesn't want to stay there. I don't want to RESET my default because then it will wipe out everything I have saved on here. I must have touched something and it just won't behave now. Oh well, I'm done trying. Just have to get use to what I'm looking at or change it manually up at the top right corner where those ... button are. Hate when I can't fix something on this crazy computer.

Still dry here.... thank goodness. Sun is trying to come out.

Good afternoon from Brisk & Sunny Belleview! As Pat mentioned we are finally enjoying a small taste of fall...won't last long I'm sure but it sure is a nice change!

Scooter's Vet appt. went about as expected...they drew blood & checked her blood pressure...which is high...but the vet wants to wait & see what the blood work say's before having me drop her off for a day of readings...as hbp can be caused by other medical issues...couldn't get a urine sample...so that's a test for another day too...total for the bill came to $280 which wasn't quite as bad as I was expecting...

Kathie, your bread looks really good...I have got to get busy & use the yeast packets I have in the pantry before they go bad...
Hope the rain stays away for a while so you can dry out...

Dave, sounds like it was a fun day yesterday watching the road equipment do it's thing...
How did Fuzzbutt do with his walk the other day? Jane's dog Hansel is the same way...as soon as you say wanna go outside he is dancing around like a maniac....and don't EVEN say the word Bye-bye until you get the leash on him...he really goes nuts then!

Pat, your dinner sounds good...it's been a while since you've had to feed both crews hasn't it?
Yeah I try to keep quiet when political opinions are being tossed about...you aren't going to change their minds no matter what you say, so best to keep quiet...course it doesn't do MY blood pressure any good, but that's life...

Lee, where are you off & running to this morning...missed seeing you check in....

The plan was to do a little housework this afternoon...but I think I'm going to go read on the porch instead...it's soooo nice outside I want to take advantage of it...see you all later!

Good rainy afternoon from The Berg.
Pat, that sounds like a dandy dinner there in FL or here in a cold damp Ontario.
Lets hope that Scooter‘s blood work gives you and The Vet a little more information to treat what ever is causing the poor little thing to seem uncomfortable. The next thing you know Karen is classes are going to have a Dem / Rep box so groups are all like minded.
I too was like a kid when they resurfaced our street in Ayr. Like your place Dave, it was a real procession of heavy equipment to get the job done. I remember Chase, my little Buddy from next door, watching wide eyed as the old surface came up and the new one went down.
That bread you made Kathie looks like it might just be the ticket to stuff with Pat’s sausages and onions! Funny that your rain ended and ours just keeps on coming. I do hate it when something goes amiss with these devices and you can’t figure out how to get the settings back that you had.
Lu-Ann is off to “chair yoga” in town. I got my exercise done, had some lunch and am settling in to watch “Schumacher“ on Netflix. For dinner tonight??? Lu-Ann and Gail are off to a couple of places after yoga. Including the grocery store. We did get the pups out for their morning walk. If it stops raining I’ll try to get them out this afternoon.
Enjoy the rest of your Thursday!

Got just a minute to drop by and say good night for today. Just about to get into cooking heaven, if that's possible! Better get to work, but first, here's a reminder that this Sunday is Key Lime Day! Anyone else planning to make one? I've got everything for mine! have a good evening and I'll see you tomorrow. :)

Karen: Hope the tests come back without too many issues for Scooter. Ouch on the BILL! :emoticon 0108 speechless:

Lee: This rain and cold and dreariness has gone on way too long. Now the weather folks are warning us for another ROUND ALL NIGHT until Friday.
The ARK is coming out again on the Creek anchored and ready load if necessary!
my climate survival plan GIF by Center for Story-based Strategy

BB: Good luck with dinner. We're ordering Chinese tonight. This cooking every night is getting old real fast.

DAVE: How's that new pavement coming along. Did you get your chair out and sit and watch or just view from your front window and stay warm and dry?
We need NEW streets here, but I'll be DEAD and GONE before that ever happens. They spend money on huge Libraries instead. :emoticon 0122 itwasntme:

Tonight we will need a EXTRA BLANKET on the bed for sure. Just can't bring myself to turn on the HEAT when it's still SEPTEMBER. I have a Sweatshirt on and long pants right now.

Be good little Wrabbits. Those NUMBERS are CLIMBING FAST.... EVERYWHERE.

“My, my, my little key lime pie.“ For the dollar store key chain, name the song and the artist.
That does sound like a good idea for Sunday Pat. Let the quest for those little gems begin!
Funny enough Kathie, we just came back from walking the pups. The sun was coming out and there was blue sky over Grosse Ile. It’s nicer now than it has been all day.
Parkinson’s Zoom meeting tonight for both of us. So, having said that, have a good evening everyone.

TGIF. Now where did that work-week go?

Chilly but dry here yesterday. I don't think it ever got out of the 50's. So the street crew came in early and didn't quit till it was dark. And yes our street's pavement was removed. And one car that was left on the street, in spite of the no-parking signs, was towed away.

The house across the street from us has a living room picture window that starts about 2 feet off the floor, so you could see the dad and his 1 year old daughter watching all the vehicles & and large equipment moving up and down the street. Cute. I too watched from time to time from inside our warm house.

Now when they put down the new pavement is anybody's guess.

Our DVR is sure getting a workout recording all these new shows that started this week. At least when we watch them we can fast forward through the commercials.

You made me look it up, Lee.

I'm not as tough as you K2, I turned on the furnace yesterday.

BB & K2; It was interesting that you both remembered having fun on those metal skates with the key. Today, I don't think you could connect those skates to the sneakers that people wear now. And to think that neither of you went on into roller derby.

Poor little Scooter is sure having her problems, KC. While you are helping with the Vet's retirement fund. Once Kathi gets outside Fuzzbutt does good on the walks. It's when Kathi is putting on her harness and getting her out the door is when she goes nuts.

Yippee, today will be sunny and get up to 70. May find a project outside, once it warms up.

Good Sunny Morning…..finally. But still only 52F as of this posting at
9:56 am.

Dave & Lee I really don’t know what planet you two came from since you know and find all these music videos! They are fun to listen to. Thanks guys.
Who ever heard of a Key Lime Pie song. Ha ha

Now that the street project kept the Grandpa and grandson and you peeking through the day. Now to get it finished!

Disney Wedding GIF

“Oh how they DANCED on the night that they wed!”

Yup, another Anniversary for Art & I. 55th.
It was as sunny as it is today, but much warmer.
Nothing special planned. We might drive out to the water ciew restaurant for a late lunch - early dinner! Roses were on the counter when I ventured out to the kitchen this morning. What a guy, always beings me flowers. That’s it. We don’t do gifts anymore…..after all we have each other! (goan).
We’re planning a trip to Puerto Vallarta in the Winter if we can get there and back home without too much trouble. Time will tell.

You all have a good day. Be back later.

Dave…good for you turning on the furnace. We just added another blanket. And I had to throw my half off sometime in the middle of the might because it got too hot! Hormones are a bitch! Ha ha.
