Return of the Cruising Bunny's....

Good evening, another busy Monday without much to show for being busy.

Lee, Happy Victoria Day! I don't think any of our choir members are qualified to direct the choir except for 1, Mary who is the wife of Nolan who played for us Sat. She is the only one with any music ability as she teaches music & plays in an orchestra. She's also our lead alto so we need her in the choir loft instead of directing.

Kathie, good luck with the estimates, hopefully you will have people show up to give them instead of all the no shows we deal with down here. I would gladly trade you some of our HOT weather for some of your cooler temps. the A/C is cranking away like crazy again today.

Mike, our lawn crew was here last Wed. but I have no idea why or what they even did. It's been so dry here the grass is not growing at all & it didn't look like they edged or weed wacked my yard any either. Guess they just show up so they can get paid.

Puttered around today on a project for Jane, she had an old iron yard bench with wooden slats that was falling apart. I took it apart & was going to take the metal to the recycle bin at the dump, but then we decided I would rebuild it with some wood I have in the garage & use it to set plants on. I got the metal cleaned up & re-painted and the boards cut for it. Just have to wait till I go to Jane's tomorrow to pick up the paint I am going to use to paint them. I think we will set it out under her big tree out front when it's done. Will try to remember to take a pic when it's all set up. And that's the news from beautiful Belleview~!

Good evening everyone.
Well, we had a police officer and a game and fisheries officer at The Navy Yard this morning. They were keeping ”the rabble” at the end of the park in the area designated for fishing. They were also enforcing the fish limit. Many of the residents, us included, thanked them for being there and giving us our park back.
Good for you recycling that bench Karen. I suspect it will look really nice as a plant stand.
Did the siding fellow show up on schedule with a good estimate Kathie? You’re right. If they can’t be on time to quote the job they likely won’t be reliable when it comes to the job.
I did get the grass cut Mike. And trimmed the “balls” on our little decorative tree in the front. Didn’t novels come to the forefront as part of The Victorian Literature era?
I guess that’s it from here for now. See you all tomorrow.

The Siding Guys, (yes 2,) did show up and they were even 10 mins early! They were very informative and will send me us a quote.
Meanwhile, I have 2 more estimates set up. So we’ll see how this turns out!

Karen good for you repurposing Janes bench. I’d love to send you some of the cooler temps we’ve been having up here, but POSTAGE is just so expensive. Sorry kiddo!

Keep that A/C working.

Lee: Wish Mama Bear was around to comment on your “BALL TRIMMING”
statement. Heck, Tony and Dave could have a lot to say about it too! Ha ha.
I’m passing on it.
Out of here for now!

A “naughty” start to this 43F but feels like 36F morning.
Oh Kathie, there are so many directions I could take your observation about the balls on our little male tree. But I won’t. :emoticon 0102 bigsmile: With the forecast low temperature I brought our planter and baskets into the garage last night. Ava and I had our coats on for our early walk.
I’m glad your siding guys showed up and explained their scope of work. I hope the others are as helpful. Whenever we would get quotes for things we’d, of course, compare them. Then like figure skating we’d toss out the high and low numbers and look towards the middle.
You mentioned the price of stamps. Canada Post is facing another strike starting this weekend. It seems the union would rather push the company over the edge rather than adjust their demands in an ever changing communication world. That observation from me who spent 35 years as first a carrier and worked my way up to an area manager.
Anyway, not much else new quite yet this morning.
Have a great Tuesday everyone.

Happy Good Morning GIF by jecamartinez
Where did the morning disappear to?

Got my Pill container all filled up. Called the Pharmacy my meds go through and made sure that 2 prescriptions were actually ready to be shipped. I had to get new prescriptions from those 2 doctors and needed to make sure they came through! All is good. I truly don't know how anybody older than myself stays on top of things like ordering meds online. But since I don't pay co-pays (except on my blood thinner med) I don't mind the slight inconvenience.

Lee: I moved my porch plants further under the porch overhang towards the door last night. They look like they're fine this morning. Another reason I usually don't plant any flowers before JUNE in our area. The risk of frost is a UP and DOWN around here. We'll be raking FALL LEAVES before it actually warms up around here. SAD.

I need to get a binder ready to put all the quotes I will be getting on the darn siding job. Yesterday I drove up to a company that has an office about 1 mile from our house and set up an appointment for Friday for another estimate. They had a really nice display on the walls of various siding materials to look at. The gal was very informative. Company has been in business 47 years! Gave me brochures with products and pictures of various styles. On the way home I drove through our neighborhood and snapped a few pictures of homes with siding that I liked the style.
Can't wait until this job is done and over with. I'm sure YOU ALL will AGREE with me on that. You'll be just as happy not to listen to me go on and on about this project. :emoticon 0136 giggle:
It's a PAY me now project or PAY to have it painted over and over again! ;)

You all have a good day. I still have a SWEATSHIRT on trying to stay warm! Brrrr.

I got a much needed haircut today. Last week I didn't need one, this week I lookrf like I should have gotten it a week ago. Fay had a Dr. appt. today, every looked good. We had our carpets cleaned today. They are starting to look a little worn. I think we should wait until we have fuzzy plywood before we get new carpeting, on the other hand, by the time we choose new carpeting we will need it. This computer and I just aren;t getting along today. I need to get onw to type what I think, not what I type, here again maybe I better not.
K2, our last frost date used to be May 20, don't know what it is now. I think t he ground is too cold to plant seeds out side. We still haven't got our tomato plants.
With all the work you are doing on the siding , I think you are wise writing every thing down.
Lee, Oh Kathie, there are so many directions I could take your observation about the balls on our little male tree.,, Could you expand on this Lee, inquisitive minds would like to know.:emoticon 0126 nerd:
Glad your area has cleared and very glad the police and other officers showed up, writing your letters did get results.

A balmy 51F with off and on rain.
Kathie, we finally had to put the furnace back on. The temperature in the house dipped a couple of degrees below 70F. I love to hear about all of the steps you take for your projects. It often gives us thoughts and ideas too.
I have a haircut set for Friday morning Mike. You’re so right. Sunday I didn’t need one. Today I should have gotten it done last Friday. Kinda like cutting the grass. It doesn’t need it today but tomorrow it should have been done a few days ago.
How did progress go on the bench / plant stand Karen? When is Carmen’s pacemaker scheduled for?
See you in the morning.

Just checking in to say Good Night, worked at Jane's a couple hours today trying to finish cutting down an old pear tree, so far the tree is winning but I will keep cutting away at it. Picked up the paint for the bench but probably won't get back to working on it before Thurs.
Vestry meeting at church tonight which for a change only lasted a little over an hour, so now I can sit back & enjoy the dessert Jane sent home with me today. Going to church early again tomorrow so I can finish planting the flowers Carmen & I bought last week. She is scheduled for her pacemaker surgery tomorrow morning.

Yuk! Rain here for the day. Oh well, it keeps the dust down.
I’ll take Lu-Ann to pick up her eye glasses at 10:00. Depending on the weather we may get Ava around The Navy Yard. Ava’s food and Bravecto (flea and tick medication) is ready at the vets so we’ll collect that while we’re at that end of town.
Take it easy planting today Karen. We’ll keep a good thought for Carmen and her procedure this morning.
Jim decided yesterday afternoon that today and Friday would be good days to work on their basement. Only Dave is available for sure today. I’ll be late to the job if I do make it today and for sure on Friday after my haircut. We try so hard to convince him to try to plan a little further out than the next day!
My gosh, the clouds have closed in again and it’s as dark as night!
All of you have a fantastic Wednesday!

Happy Rainy Day GIF by Ethan Barnowsky
Good Mid Morning Gang! Raining!

Lee: You need to keep your RAIN on your side of the Detroit River! It’s a sloppy wet chilly day here.
My joints are telling me all about it! I still remember my grandmother telling me it was going to rain before it happened. She would say her KNEES were aching. And sure enough it would rain! Now I’m doing the same type of weather predictions. :D

I’m going over to hand in my physical therapy order to get an appt to start up things for my back!
Always Something!
I want to try and avoid having the epidural in the back if I can. Nothing is going to
cure this pain. just a band aid for some short term relief.

Stay dry and enjoy the day.

Lee, it is cool here but no rain, I hope it dries up some, thing are pretty wet with all of the rain we have been having.
It makes it hard to figure out the future days if you don't know in advance what you will be doing, I just reat what I wrote, doesn't make any sense, par for the course.
Fay went to get a haircut. She set up the coffee machine for me so I'm going to get a cup of coffee, join me anyone.

Kathie, from what I can see from the weather map that rain is coming out of the west. US rain from start to finish.

Lee I could have used a cup of that coffee to warm up earlier today!

Made 2 batches of Crepes today.
Marie & George (up 24 Mile rd) got some and took some to the kids. Great excuse to see
Mr Manny. He liked the visit. :D

Should I be worried? The young fella next door appears to be building an Ark. :)
It’s still raining and one forecast calls for it to continue through the day and in to 5:00 am tomorrow morning. That aside, Ava and I managed a short early walk this morning.
That Manny sure is one good looking pup Kathie.
I don’t know Mike. Your post made sense to me. Clearly great minds do think alike.
I did manage to get to Jim’s yesterday for a bit. Dave was grouting the tile in the bathroom. I got the window trim tacked up that we measured and cut the other day. Tomorrow we will move the seven doors down and hopefully get some of them hung. I’ll be late because I have a hair cut booked at 9:30.
Hi Karen.
All of you have a terrific Thursday.

STILL CHILLY and off and on Light Rain. Supposed to do that all day. Boring.

I think it will be a HOMEMADE SOUP night over here and leftover Shepards Pie. My combinations get crazy sometimes, but it beats eating out at a restaurant these days. Our Greek restaurant that we use to get a VERY DECENT PRICED meal special for $14.00 is now $18 bucks and you don't get the choices they use to have on the special. Lamb shanks are $30 bucks. It goes on and on with the higher prices.
Perhaps the fact that they were closed down for REMODELING and want to be a more upstage place has something to do with it. We went there a few weeks ago and won't be going again anytime soon. BUMMER. I loved their Grilled Pork Chops.

Art had me help him look for a bike chain online and the place he used to get them from in Colorado had it for $45.00 with shipping included. We checked a local bike shoppe and they had them for $31.99. Pick-up. Guess where he'll be getting it from!! ;)

I turned on the HEAT in this house to get the DAMP FEELING out of here. Third week of MAY and the HEAT is still being turned on every so often. Crazy.

Lee: Is that basement job ALMOST finished? Sure hope they don't have any other jobs planned for you guys.

Mike: I thought about buying a Tomato plant or two, but with this ugly weather I'm holding off. My Begonia plant (Kit) that Art got me for Christmas has taken off nicely. It came with 3 bulbs and 2 are growing like a weed nice and sturdy inside the house, the 3 one has gotten planted outside because it seems to be a dud. I'm giving it a chance in the deck box to see if it just need more time. I'll try and remember to take a picture of it and post it on here.
STAY WARM down your way.

Karen: If you get in the pool today please SPLASH AROUND for me. I so miss not being able to be walking on the gulf shore these days.

I did hand in my paperwork for the physical therapy on my back yesterday. Have to wait until June 10th to get in with the Tech I want. I could have tried another place, but this one is exactly 1 mile from our driveway, and I liked the guy that worked on my knee. So it's worth waiting for him.

Okay gang..........have a nice day and hope your weather is BETTER than ours. :emoticon 0136 giggle:
It's ugly enough here that ARTIE did not go biking!

A dull day here too. The temperature says 53F but that doesn’t account for wind chill. I’ll be bringing the plants into the garage tonight as it’s supposed to feel like 37F!
We’ve left our heat on too Kathie. Like you and Art to take the dampness out of the house.
Hiya Mike and Karen.

It is 57 F which is 20 degrees cooler than usual for the time of the year. With all the rain we have been having it feels a lot colder. Could you please send some warm temps up here Karen?
K2, Fay went to Jungle Jim's to check on their tomato plants, she said they didn't look good so she will try anotho\er place. It's too wet and cold to plant anyway.
Are you starting to worry about how long you can tread water Lee? :emoticon 0104 surprised:
Our tulip poplar tree had some flowers on it, they are pale and only last for a day or so. That tree is getting large, I may have planted it too close to the house.

Good afternoon, figured I'd better get on here & say Hi before another day got away from me!

Lee, I don't blame you & the other OGC's for not being thrilled with Jim's scheduling skills, with all the work you all have been doing the least he could do is give you all a bit more notice on when he'd like you all to come help. I would be tempted to hang up my tool belt when (if) this project ever gets finished.

Kathie, didn't make it to the pool today, but yesterday Jane, Barb & I were in the pool and it felt wonderful! I even took my old blow up pool float from the old house and floated around on it. I was amazed it still held air after being stored in my garage for over 8 years. When I first moved in here no floats were allowed in the pool.

Mike, sorry I missed out on the coffee yesterday, were there any cookies or kiffle to go with it?

Overcast here right now but as far as I know there is no rain in the forecast, we sure need it badly!
Got the boards painted for Jane's bench today & tomorrow morning I will try putting it back together.
Talked with Amanda & Allie this afternoon, hadn't talked to her since before Easter, they are doing well. Allie is in 4-H now & will be showing a chicken in the 4-H fair in July. Other than that not a lot going on around here. Got the rest of the flowers planted at church yesterday. Carmen's pacemaker procedure went well, she called me around 4 to tell me she was on her way home.

I just had graham cracker with the coffee Kc. It may be overcast for you but at least it is warm.
Emjoy it, send some heat my way. Good luck with the bench.

We're about 15 - 20 degrees below normal too Mike. They said it felt like 36F when Ava and I were out this morning. We both had our coats on. Funny enough, the young folks next door did get a huge delivery of wood yesterday afternoon. An Ark? No, I suspect Luke and Morganne are going to either build or have a raised deck built around their above ground pool.
Floating in the pool sounds like a wonderful way to spend a little time Karen. I think we need a picture of Allie’s “show chicken”. Some of the ones we used to see at the fair in Ayr were incredible! We have all agreed that we’re not dropping things at the last minute to work in the basement. To an extent, while we’re glad to help out, we feel that the ever changing plans and demands on our time have taken the fun out of the project. I’m amazed that they can pop a pacemaker into an 84 year young patient and send them on their way!
When I told Lu-Ann that Art had skipped his bike ride because of the weather she said ”It must be unpleasant” Kathie. That’s a good saving on the bike chain. A good physio / rehab person is hard to beat! it’s important that they push you but work within your comfort zone.
Time for my breakfast. Then I’ll get tidied up and go see Betty for that much needed haircut. Then it’s off to “the job site”.
You folks all have a fantastic Friday. :D
