Return of the Cruising Bunny's....

Kathie, be careful driving today, will be keeping you in my thoughts & prayers.

Lee, my furnace does pretty good keeping the house warm "when" I turn it on. Most of the time I just use my electric fireplace in the living room, but this morning I turned the furnace on for a bit to take the chill out of the house.

Hi Paige, tell us about yourself, we're a pretty friendly bunch here!

Got a call from the repair shop, they found considerably more damage than the insurance company did, new repair estimate $12,665.93! Quite an increase from the $2,400 the insuance company said. Now just have to wait & see what the insurance companies says

All went good this morning on the roads. Some SALTED and some NOT. At least the freeway I had to use was nicely salted.
Got out of the doctors office and the SUN was shinning and roads were clear. Just COLD and WINDY.

KAREN:
Despicable Me What GIF
HOW can an adjuster from the insurance company be that far off in his estimate. OR..... does the collision shop just jack up what needs to be done and hope the insurance company TOTALS your truck because they don't want the job.
Keep us up to date on this issue!! WOW.

Dropped off the bread Jill made for Marie and my apple coffee cake when I was driving back home. Sat and chatted a little. She said she broke down when George was taken out of the house. :( The whole past 6 months has really taken a toll on the poor girl. She was being picked up by her son, and they were going to finalize things for the funeral.

Out of here to do a few things. You all take care. You're all so special to me. :emoticon 0115 inlove:

Kathie, I can only imagine how stressful the last few months have been for Marie, sadly the shock & grieving will probably take a while to really sink in. Prayers still going up for her.
As for the insurance appraiser, I really have my doubts that he actually looked at the truck. The estimate paperwork I received said it was a "virtual" inspection. When I questioned the rep handling my claim she just brushed it off & said the paperwork I got hadn't been "updated" and the appraiser HAD examined the truck. Just looking at the pictures I have I really don't see how the damage could have been repaired for $2,400

As luck would have it I was able to obtain an image of the insurance adjusters Karen.

How can “professionals” be that far off in their “guesstimate”.
The sun was shining and the roads were clear here this morning too Kathie. Whatever name you just called me wasn’t nice. Especially when we have a guest. I’m glad you had a bit of a visit with Marie.
Now Paige, although your note showed up today, from the content I reckon you must have prepared it a while back. I know a “dial up” connection can be slow…All kidding aside, thanks for stopping by. Stick around a tad. This is one heck of a good group of folks.
Have a good afternoon everyone.

Karen: Do you think my any chance that the ADJUSTER missed the
" 1 " in front of $2,400?? ($12,400.00) Maybe his fingers just didn't hit the key on his keyboard!! If that's so, it would be more in line with the collision shop estimate of $12,665.93.
Work on getting the HUTCH a good answer to this issue!! :emoticon 0136 giggle: :emoticon 0104 surprised:

We had leftover homemade Chicken/Veggie soup from yesterday along with Jill's homemade Sour Dough bread. This was the best loaf she's given us yet. Yum.

Okay, I need to get ready for Michigan State/ Oregon Basketball game coming up tonight. Just love these playoffs.

I most likely will fall asleep since I was up at 6:00 am and only got 5 hrs of sleep last night.
Confused Good Morning GIF by shremps

FYI: 10 degrees and wind chill of -7. Brrr

I had a terrible sleep last night. Don’t know why. Oh well, it happens.
OH OH, HE’S GONNA START TO RAMBLE A TAD. YOU MAY WANT TO SKIP TO THE BOTTOM.
Lu-Ann and I had more discussions and thoughts about coming back next winter. We have found EVERYTHING so expensive compared to past years. The exchange rate is right around 40% this year. That fresh $10 salad at Publix (which was $8 last year)…more like $14 for us. The cost of 60 days of health insurance, which was $2400 this year, will be more next year.
And I won’t even get into the current administration wanting to take over all of North America and Greenland. By force if necessary so it seems. It all points to saying goodbye to the great people we have met during our trips south.
Chatting yesterday with one of the folks who we have gotten to know over the years he has noticed, like us, how many unrented, empty homes there are in the community this winter. He, his wife and dog, Bonkers, come down from Ohio at the beginning of December. He said so many of “us regulars” as he called us just aren’t here this year.
Sad really.

OK, IT’S SAFE TO READ ON.
Anyway, it’s supposed to be a nice day. We may get a little pool time in this afternoon. Even if it’s just to stick our feet in.
You all have a great day.

Wednesday Morning Coffee GIF by Lucas and Friends by RV AppStudios
Well only if you aren't trapped inside your house because of a snowstorm going on outside! DUH!

SNOWING here since about 4:00 a.m. We have about 2" so far if not more! I posted this in BLACK because it doesn't deserve a 'bright' color! And, YES, I know it's Michigan and I should be used to Winter but I'm just NOT a fan of it. I deal with it because I have to! Enough said! :emoticon 0122 itwasntme:

Not sure why this photo is sideways! It gives you an idea of what it looks like on our shrubs from the window view.

Lee: Sorry you had a restless night. I know you and Lu-Ann go down to Florida to not only get away from our Northern cold Jan-Feb Winters, but to help Lu-Ann cope with her PK.
I know what you mean about the COST going up and getting out of control. Especially with the exchange rate you have to deal with. Not easy to deal with at all. Try and enjoy this years visit as much as you can. Lord knows what the U.S. Government will be like next year. (I won't get into that discussion because it makes me vomit)
Covid put a halt to our going down South and then the rising costs from the various hurricanes that hit Longboat Key and other areas really made our decision for us. Owners down in that Gulf area needed to recoup their losses and so they hiked up the rental costs to a point that was out of our budget. What was $5-6,000 is now in the $10,000 dollar range. (Gulf water rentals are crazy expensive) If we won the big lottery that might be okay, but we haven't. And then there's the BIG FACTOR of we're getting older and traveling long distances in a car is harder. Sure, there's the airplanes but you'd have to rent a car for a extended stay and those prices have gone out of control too in resort areas. And so have the airline tickets. So we stay home and "jack up the heat" to make it feel warm and live for Sunny Days here, which it has been lately.
Invite your "Ohio friends" over for cheese & wine and have a nice afternoon chatting about just what "Buckeyes" are all about! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

Karen hope you're having a good day. Do you go to Wednesday church services? If so, hope it Rev Lisa had some inspiring words today.

Mike: How is FAY doing? Better yet, how are YOU doing without her around?? Hope the girls are taking good care of you.

I need to pick out what I'm going to wear to church tomorrow. I just hope the road commission has the roads cleared for a safe travel to get there. We have to use a short freeway for 10 mins and then a busy divided highway for awhile and then it goes into 2 lanes on either side until we get to the church. If the roads are clear it's a 25 min drive in normal weather. If it's still snowing, like they are forecasting, we'll be taking it real slow and be praying all the way to church! :grinnyangel: Always Something!!

Later gang.

Snow stopped around 1:00 pm and we had an errand that couldn't wait to do. The main streets were ALL CLEAR and SALTED. Subdivision was packed down enough and easy to get in and out of. ALL GOOD! Temp is balmy at 28F~~ :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

Tomorrow snow until 6 a.m. Then nothing until later in the afternoon. The Man upstairs must know we all have a lot of back and forth driving to do tomorrow for the funeral. Thank you!

Another night of soup. This time it's Veggie and a nice Italian sub. Easy works for me.

Out of here for now.

Your last couple of dinners sounded perfect for crummy weather days Kathie.
We went to a food truck for lunch. “The Pastrami Project” has been on “Diners, Drive Ins and Dives” on The Food Network a couple of times. I tried the brisket sandwich and Lu-Ann had the pastrami. There was enough with the side salad to have another 1/2 sandwich each for a light dinner!
How are you and Fay doing Mike?
Where are you at with the insurance company Karen? I imagine it’s like the old Ed Sullivan Show in their office. There’s a lot of tap dancin’, smoke and mirrors and maybe even a mouse as they figure out how they got it so wrong!
Well, almost time to take Ava for her night time walk.
Tomorrow’s a big day. The Publix BOGO ad for the next week comes out. :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:
Have a good evening.

Lee, Sorry about your not getting much sleep last night, hope you sleep much better tonight, I have had very few nght like that. I don't think you should worry about going back to Fl next year, a lot of water over the dam by then and you may change your mind a few times,, especilly ??? if the winters keep being as nasty as this winter. I hope you got some pool time in today.
Hi Paige I hope you will enjoy chattting with us.
I may have seen the wrong forecast Kathie but it looks like you are in for some very cold temps. If I were you I would wear something wam at church tomorrow, I don't remember what was said about snow. How much snow did you end up with. A very nice picture of the snow, glad it isn't down here.
Karen, did you get another estimate on the car insurance. You don't think they were trying to pull a fast one on you do you.
Fay is doing much better today. She called me from the hospital and we got to chat a little, she said the hospital is taking great care of her and the staff was very nice. She has had visiters from our friends at different times of the day, sometimes they stop here and let me know hou she is doing. I am slowly getting better. the pain isn't as bad which is a big plus, Sunday and Monday I slept about 20 hours each day. One of the kids are here every day and slept here. Linda is here tonight. They are all like mother hens to me. My coffee maker quit working this morning and they got me a new one without me knowing anything. Pattie called my pain Dr. yesterday and he sent in a prescription for prednisolone.
Have a good night.

MIKE…..So good to hear from you. Glad to hear that Fay is doing better and is getting such good care.
Now tell me what all this you posted about YOUR PAIN BEING BETTER. And getting Prednisone. What’s going on buddy??? Did I miss a post about this??? So glad the girls are taking care of you.

We are suppose to get into the DEEP FREEZE below ZERO temps later tomorrow. I’m willing to send some to any of you good folks. All I know is the FURNACE in the Hutch better not break down!

I’ll be sure to wear really warm clothes to church. It’s funny that it’s either TOO HOT or TOO COLD in our church. You learn to dress in layers!! :emoticon 0122 itwasntme:

I should be in bed sleeping. Out of here. :sleep002::sleep:

Good morning everyone.
Yes Kathie, I think you missed Mike telling us he hurt his hip trying to lift Fay when she fell. Please be careful going to and from church today. I’ll be thinking of you and of course Marie and George. I hope there’s memories that bring more smiles than tears.
Mike, it sounds like both you and Fay are in good hands. Even better news that you all seem to be on the mend. Nice that the girls just replaced the coffee maker. I’m sure you can deal with the pain from your hip but the pain from no coffee! That’s a whole different kind of pain. ;)
Mornin’ Karen.
Time to see if I can convince the lazy dog to get up and come on her walk. A couple of longer walks yesterday and a car ride into Orlando and she’s tired.
Have a good day folks.

China Snow GIF
This is exactly what it looks like out here now at 9:00 am. We hope that it slows down in another hour when we are suppose to leave.
Just playing things minute by minute. It's absolutely beautiful watching this intense snow storm, but it could have picked another day to do this. Always Something!

Lee: Thanks for the "heads-up" on Mike falling. Yikes not what he needed at all.

Karen hope you are keeping warm. I keep a eye on your weather just like I do Lee's & Mike's. Just call me the "Weather Nerd"! Take care.

MIKE: Hope that new coffee pot makes you some GOOD TASTING coffee this morning! Take care of your sore muscles. Hope the pills work fast for you.

Coffee Cup GIF by buddhabeanscoffee

Later Wrabbits. I'm off to pray this snow stops like they keep telling us it will and that the ROAD CREWS are out salting FAST.

On a LIGHTER NOTE:
I bet George is looking down and saying: "NOT MY PROBLEM"! I say this with a smile knowing him well! ;)

Kathie, hoping the weather eased off enough that you & all of George's family & friends could make it to the church & give him a great send off! Thinking of you today.

Lee, I can't say that I blame you for not wanting to spend anymore of your hard earned money in a country that is run by a bully. If I could figure out Candaian money I'd be tempted to move north myself.

Mike, good to hear that you & Fay are improving & kudo's to the kids for taking good care of you while Fay recovers.

Still no word from the insurance company on what they plan to do about my truck. I know the original estimate was not caused by "fumbling fingers" as he had all the information listed for parts & labor with totals that matched his estimate. I sent a message to the lady who is handling my claim, if I don't hear back from her today I will call tomorrow as my rental car is up for renewal again. As Kathie says, it's always something!

I hope that everyone made it to and from the church safely Kathie. The poor folks at home are getting the same weather as you. Again. Lu-Ann accuses me of being a weather nerd too.
The administration is just one concern Karen. We really have found the cost of living here this year is really high. Before factoring in the exchange. If something here is $1 it costs us roughly $1.40 in our money. That same $1 item in Canada would cost around 60 cents in US money. I hope that doesn’t muddy things too much. I do hope that your truck gets sorted shortly.
