Return of the Cruising Bunny's....

Lee, when the description of the lunch is:
  • Seafood feast including shrimp and seasonal crab boiled in Southern seasoning with corn on the cob, Andouille sausage, onions, mushrooms, potatoes and garlic.
I could not resist.
Well now Nancy, I’m not booked for that cruise but I tried to book that lunch!
I sure hope that you get a little rest Karen. And who doesn’t like Jackson Browne? Thank you! Did ya know he co-wrote The Eagles hit “Take it Easy”.
It‘s sad how perfectly good light fixtures, furniture and so on are simply tossed in the bin these days Kathie. Simply because young folks tastes have changed.
It‘s supposed to rain shortly. That will usher in unseasonably high temps for the weekend before dropping back to near normal next week.
As long as it’s nice for the wedding we have to go to tomorrow afternoon.
See you tomorrow.

Good morning. Rain, again, to start the day. It’s supposed to stop by 9:00 am as temps head to the mid 70‘s! A nice day, I suppose, for a wedding.
The couple getting married is our friend’s son and the girl he has been living with in their own lovely home for a number (maybe 6 or 7) of years. There are close to 200 guests. We have met them once. The couple, not the guests. We may indeed have met some of the guests more than once. I ask myself “Why such a big dog and pony show?” Back in the day if you’d been together that long before being married you had a nice, small gathering with family and a few close friends. I simply don’t get it.
Anyway, enough grumping from me this morning. You all have a fantastic day!
And yes, we will be wearing our masks.

Good Saturday morning Bunnies!

Hoping you got your tank filled KC. Today I'm running pretty low in the tank. Did a lot yesterday, (too much), and am feeling it today. BUT I still need to do more today.

Yesterday morning I worked on fitting a plastic barrier under some panels of our white vinyl fence, so little Jack can't get under it. Then Kathi and I went grocery shopping. And when we got back I did a couple more panels.

(Surprisingly, Jack wasn't barking in his kennel when we returned from the grocery store.)

Now today a granddaughter is willing to come over for a bit to watch Jack so both Kathi and I can do some more barriers.

It's a job you have to do on your hands and knees. By the time I stopped yesterday I could barely get up. Even with a lawn chair next to me to crawl up on. (That dog is going to be the death of me yet.)

50 degrees and SUNNY here at 8:53 a.m. Only to get much better. The rain came and is now all dry on the sidewalks and streets.

Artie zoomed out of here LICKY-SPLIT to go biking with his buddies. He missed Thursdays ride because of the wet weather.

PAINT JOB IS ALL DONE. Even the touch up spots on the White Moldings!
Today I get to vacuum and then rug shampoo the area where the 3-china cabinet units go. Art wanted to just put the units back last night and I said: "NO WAY". It needs to get cleaned up even though it looks just fine from having those units on it all these years.

I want to get that wall area done so I can put the little heater on and hopefully it will dry by later today.

Once I get that done, I'm going back to the order the chandelier. I'm not driving all over the entire city looking for something else like I normally would do.

I made a 3-layer choc cake late yesterday and made the cooked Swiss Meringue frosting. Looks good, but I think I baked the layers a tad too long. Oh well, it will have to do for our Easter dinner. I now know why bakeries charge so much for layer cakes. Not an easy job. And that butter frosting is costly these days.

Lee: I'm thinking the couple that is having the wedding today decided they needed some "FUNDS" for a project of two and are hoping the envelopes will cover things! I'm with you, if you live with each other that long WHY THE WEDDING?
Have fun.

DAVE: Doing too much work at our age is PAINFUL! Hope you get your project done and can rest your weary legs and knees. I did too much STANDING making that cake yesterday and had to take 2 Tylenol pills last night. I must say I did sleep well! :clap002:

Karen: Hope the eyes are continuing to heal nicely for you. How's our little Scooter doing these days? Scaring off any other pets lately?

Bill: Did you try out the new dishwasher yet? What brand did you folks end up with? I bought a Kitchen-Aid dishwasher for our new kitchen remodel job. Hopefully, it will give us the same good service that our TRUSTY GENERAL ELECTRIC one has for the last 25 years. Unlike you, we have only had good things to say about GE appliances. (Thank Goodness) Now I just hope I didn't jinx anything! Ha Ha.
There's NOTHING wrong with this dishwasher EXCEPPT it's BLACK and it just won't fit in with all the WHITE cabinets and stainless appliances.
I can't wait until this project gets started so it will be over just as fast. Still waiting for the cabinet order to come in. Should be sometime in MAY!

BB: What are you and your gang up to today?

I'm off to shampoo the one area in the dining room. Once we move all those units back into place the rest of the area will get done too.

Have A Good Day GIF
Get out and enjoy the day!

Finally, a nice weekend here in Pure Michigan.

Approx 2 hrs and I'm done with the perimeter of shampooing the dining room carpet. YIPPEE!

I put the space heater on the wall that the china units will be moved to and HOPEFULLY it will help dry the carpet. The room is FULL of bright sunshine and it shouldn't take too long to dry. By tomorrow we'll be moving stuff around.

Thinking about going to MIDNITE church services tonight. We'll see how that idea works out later tonight!

Hope you all are having a good SATURDAY.

I need to peel some potatoes for tomorrows dinner and season the brisket.
I'm starting to sound like BB with all this kitchen talk. Ha Ha

A late good morning. Am watching qualifying for tomorrow's cup race.

Yesterday I made an appt for new hearing aids. My insurance changed how you set your first appt so it took about 30 minutes total but have an apt for May 18th. They now pay $1250 per ear a year so that helps with getting new aids.

Have been using the gel for my hands for 11 days and while it has helped a lot with swelling I am having more areas of pain and the instructions say to use for 30 days but with using 4 mg twice a day I don't know that the tube will last that long. Oh well at least I have a Dr appt about the hands before the 30 days are up.

All have a great day.

Happy Easter K2! Pleased to hear that the painting is all done. Now you are doing spring cleaning and baking. Busy, busy little Bunny. So when is this remodeling suppose to start?

I understand that it's also Easter today in Ukraine.

I'm with you Lee; If you've been living together for 6 or 7 years, having a big wedding is nothing but a "Dog & Pony" show.

You should feel lucky Nancy. Some insurances don't pay anything for hearing aids.

My Arizona daughter surprised me yesterday. Kit Kat is my favorite candy bar. She sent me a bag of miniature sized ones in their new flavor. Lemon Crisp. YUMMY! Crisp wafers in a lemon flavored creme. They're white. Slightly yellow.

I just remembered an unusual thing that happened when we were at the grocery store this past week. We are one of the rare people that still wear masks. We were coming out of the store with our stuff. And an older couple was going in to shop. They too were wearing masks. Anyway, the lady came up to Kathi thanking her for wearing a mask. Said nothing more, just thanked her.

So how do I start off my day today? Getting my yearly CT lung screening at the local hospital. At least, being a Sunday, it shouldn't be as busy a place as it is on week-days.

Yesterday we hit 83 degrees with sunshine, and it should be the same today. YES!

Good morning! Going to try to get a post in early before the day & my mind get's away from me....

Kathie, Happy Easter! Good for you going to midnight service!
You know you can buy the panels for the front of a dishwasher to change it from black to stainless right? I bought the heavy contact paper like material & re-did mine at the old house..it's vinyl I think but you couldn't tell once it was on...

Lee, hope the weather held nice for the wedding...and yeah...I think any couple who lives together for more than a year is pretty much past the "let's have a big wedding" stage...

I bought a nice piece of salmon at Aldi's yesterday & will be trying out your pecan glazed salmon recipe you sent me eons ago!

Pat, sounds like a really nice reunion with the Sil & family...
How's the leg & the toe doing?

Bill, nice that at least one of you came back from the reservation with some winnings...how is the new dishwasher working out? Do I need to buy stock in disposable plates & utensils? :)

Nancy, nice that the insurance company actually increased payment on something...that sure doesn't happen very often!

Dave, I'm with you on the up & down & working on my knees projects...just can't handle that like I used to....how is Franklin's make over coming along? And yep...I still wear a mask when I go into the store...more & more becoming one of the few...but I'd rather be safe than sorry..

Went to Jane's yesterday & mowed her front yard...it needed it bad but I wanted to give my eye plenty of time to heal...
Then we started working on getting her pool ready...she got it all vacuumed but it will need it again because it always get's stirred up when you vacuum & then settles again later...Something in the water made her arms break out in welts really bad...they were red & burning...she took a shower & a Benadryl after we got done....I called her a few hours later & she said it was better...no clue what could have caused it....her legs & everything else was fine...just the insides of her arms...
Today I have absolutely nothing planned... I "may" go putter on the back patio area...or I may not....the joy's of being retired...have a good day all!

Good morning. The races yesterday were both good. Today is the Cup race.

Dave, yes I was surprised when I saw the increase in what the insurance will pay for hearing aids. When I got the ones I have it was $1150 so one hundred is nice.

Had hoped to get the rest of the rock yesterday but no so hopefully next weekend. Bruce did a bunch of cutting on the Sea grape on the side of the house yesterday so today it is moving all the branches to the road for pick up, who know how long that will be.

All have a great day.

Good Saturday morning, gang! That was as far as I got yesterday n a post!!

Happy Easter Kathie! Nice that you made it to midnight services. Glad things are starting to get back in order at your house after the painting. A brisket would really hit the spot about now. We need Jimmy to smoke one soon. He does a great job on them. Enjoy your dinner with your family.

Good Sunday afternoon! Not a lot planned for around here today, so we're moving slowly. Heck, no one has even showed up for a cup of coffee or breakfast yet.

Dave - Good luck with you CT ling screening today. I hope all goes well. Bert & I still wear masks going into stores. You just can't be too careful and as you said, fewer and fewer people are wearing masks so who knows what kind of germs they are spreading around.

Lee - I agree that living together that many years should not warrant having a big wedding like that. Face it - It's all about the loot they want to collect. I hope you enjoyed yourselves in spite of how you felt.

Karen - What are you doing mowing a lawn so soon after your eye surgery? Shame on you! No matter how good you and your eye feel, you should still be limiting some of your activities. My toe had been feeling better, but today it's hurting again. I'm so glad I go to the foot foctor tomorrow. This has been going on for a month now, so it' time to get over it, whatever it is.

Nancy - Lucky you to get an increase in what your insurance will pay hearing aids. Bert's doesn't give him a dime and the last ones cost about $6,000. That hurt!

Our evening at the Grille last night was a lot of fun. I love dueling pianos, as that means you sing along with all the "oldies" that get requested. I was a bad girl though and got a wee bit tipsy. At least that's what Bert says. I just know that after the lack of sleep Friday night, I was ready for bed when we got home last night. Thus you know why we're all taking it easy today!:D

Time to find something to eat around here. Now I'm hungry. Have a wonderful day, everyone!

It works!!! Dirty dishes and utensils in, clean and sanitized dishes and utensils out, and it is super-quiet. It's a Bosch and gets very good ratings and both our kids have Bosch dishwaters and are pleased with them.
I am in the process of getting a new hearing aid, but my insurance doesn't cover it. Price is not as bad as what Bert's cost, but not as great a deal as Nancy is getting.
Celtics performed even better
yesterday and now have a 3-0 lead over the Nets in the first round of the playoffs. Red Sox not exactly lighting up the stands with their results to date, but the Bruins are approaching the playoffs with great play so far. Really a fun time to be a sports fan in Boston. If it wasn't for sports, there would barely be anything to watch on TV of late.
Going through another cold spell with temperatures in the 40s (even as low as the 30s at night). At least it is quite sunny.

Good afternoon everyone.
Kathie, Happy Orthodox Easter. I figured you must have gone to midnight mass when you posted at 3:06 this morning.
The weather held for the wedding which was good. It was a nice venue at one of the wineries. It was a nice simple ceremony and Andrew and Colleen looked very happy. The down side was finding out this morning that one of the guests tested covid positive this morning. He was a couple of tables away. He thought it was allergies and notified the bride and groom ASAP. They cascaded the info to the guests. We tried to wear masks as best we could but, well, geez, ya gotta eat!
Enjoy that salmon Karen! We haven't had it for a bit. I got our back grass cut this morning too! Well, most of it as it was quite thick and wet in places and that puts a strain on the old battery powered lawn mower. I still need to rake the front and get my fertilizer down. "Putter on the back patio". Is that code for catch 40 winks?
Bosch makes top notch appliances Bill! They are always highly rated. We had considered them but the problem here is that in spite of the higher cost there is was a long wait, up to six months locally, to get them in stock when we were moving in here!
I am glad to hear that you have an appointment to see about your foot Pat.

I was a bad girl though and got a wee bit tipsy. At least that's what Bert says.
Hmmm. That's one man's opinion. ;)
I hope that your screening shows nothing Dave! I too find it funny how much further the ground seems to be from by knees these days. Some days more than others!
an older couple was going in to shop
Are you sure you didn't catch a glimpse of yourself in the window?
I enjoyed the Formula 1 weekend races from Italy Nancy. Still, NASCAR amazes me that generally after a long race the top drivers and cars are all so close together at the finish. Now, when you put out "yard waste" does iy have to be a certain length, bundled and ties with a bow? OK, maybe not a bow but our stuff either has to be in yard waste bags or not longer than 30" and tied with string. There is a maximum weight too but I don't recall it.
I should be off. I we still have to get the patio stuff out. It's been covered on the little back porch since last fall. With today being a really nice one it seems like a good day for it. It's supposed to rain here this afternoon, evening and Ito tomorrow so we'll get the cushions out Tuesday.
Have a wonderful rest of your Sunday folks.

Lee, that is not the kind of news you want to hear after a wedding that one of the guests had covid...so dang scary to go anywhere these days!
The salmon came out quite good...the only thing I would do different next time is to fix it in the oven instead of the air fryer...to me it didn't seem quite done even though I cooked it a little extra...I know it isn't supposed to be dry...but I don't like slimy fish...but the taste was excellent, thanks for sharing the recipe!

Pat, I know...I probably should have waited another week...but Jane's yard was starting to look like a jungle...I took lots of breaks & wore my heavy sunglasses so I was careful....and no other major projects on the table until after I get my eye check up next month...

As long as the food was prepared the way you like it Karen, that’s what matters. Odd that Jane only reacted on her arms.
So, speaking of recipes, Lu-Ann found an old bread recipe for Moroccan rolls. She had the stuff to make them but the thyme wasn’t really fresh. She made them anyway and they were quite good. We like those “Old Thyme Moroccan Rolls”. So this tune goes across the river to Detroit’s own Bob Seger…

Come on now Bunnies, you had to see that one coming…

Good Monday morning all you cute little Bunnies!

Pleased to read that so many of you guys continue to wear masks in stores and other close places. Doing that protects not only you from Covid, but also the flu and colds. Plus it protects those who are immune compromised.

I THINK I finished up with Franklin yesterday afternoon, KC. Today I'll bring him up to the dining room, where different lighting may say otherwise. When he gets back outside, Kathi will post a picture.

I give Nancy, what's a Sea grape?

BB, yes the CT lung scan went well on Sunday. EXTREMELY well. The big hospital was a ghost town, as were the parking lots. No sitting in crowded waiting rooms. Hell, I was out of there before my scheduled scan-time. Plus it was done in the large "Doughnut" CT machine and not the tighter "tube".

Hot diggety damn Bill. The new dishwasher not only works, but it's
quiet.

Lee; Why am I not surprised that you went to a wedding at a winery. Ya never know when friends or strangers may come down with Covid. But at least you are fully vaccinated. For a while now you'll be cognizant of any sniffle, sore throat, or other symptom associated with that virus. Like you don't have enough to worry about.

Hoping that your Serbian Easter festivities went well, K2. Double-dipping on holidays again, young lady.

IF the lawn guy shows up before 2 PM today, all should be well. Our day starts off dry and in the upper 70's. But around 2 it gets wet with temperatures dropping down into the mid 50's.

Rainin’ again.
Plans for the day? Likely poke our noses and hope for negative results with the 70% accurate Covid home test. They’re free at our local grocery and pharmacies.
I think that’s nice that you’re having Franklin to dinner Dave. wait now. You’re having him to the dinner table, not for dinner right? Wow! A donut machine in the nuclear medicine department! I gotta come to your hospital!
Whenever anyone mentions Franklin I think of the “Franklin Covey” day planner I used to carry for work. It held everything you needed to get through a day. A calendar, writing utensils, a place to store 3 1/2” discs, a bring forward file area and more. Kinda like an iPhone but it didn’t do as much.
No rain for a bit so off to the park we go!

Good Morning Wrabbits!
Thank you for the Orthodox Easter wishes.
We had a great day and Easter dinner was yummy. Lots of work, but nice to sit around the kitchen table with family.
The kids all helped to get the dining room China units back in place. Very helpful and saves Art’s back and my legs from doing it!

It was so HOT in our house, from 2 ovens being on, and 82 temps outside that our Air Conditioner turned on by itself! Wow.
Today temps are dropping and it sure looks like rain might be on it’s way! Glad we Orthodox folks had a sunny and dry Easter for a change!

Dave:
Can’t wait to see Franklin. How’s little Jack been doing lately! Getting him to Piddle OUTSIDE!

KC:
Try doing your Salmon in foil on the grill. It keeps it moist and the smell is outside!

We heard that the priest at the Aliquippa, PA CHURCH came down with COVID. Well, I bet a lot more of the priests might be in the same boat after continuous church services all this week. He unfortunately had to miss the Holiest service of all on Sunday. Wonder how many of the parishioners will come down with the virus!
He had the sore throat and sniffles and was smart enough to get tested.
So the moral to all this is…..THE VIRUS IS STILL AROUND. Lee & Lu-Ann make sure to be aware of any possible signs since you were at that Wedding reception with a Covid spreader!

LEE: I just saw that you posted that you both are doing the home test. Good idea!

Okay folks, need to finish this boring post and get busy around here.

I made these rolls yesterday and I must say they were tasty! Found the recipe om Facebook!

Good morning. Will be going to Walmart soon. dinner tonight will be ham and beans, easy and good.

Dave this is a Sea Grape 1650895321493.png

What screams Florida coastline better than their native friend, the Sea Grape? Sea Grapes are a perennial fruiting shrub from the buckwheat family and are native to Florida, the Caribbean, South America, and the West Indies. Sea Grape plants can be found in coastal hammocks and landscapes from central Florida southward.

Tolerant to just about anything a shoreline can throw, be it salt, wind or hot summer sun, the sea grape thrives and holds its ground. Literally, being one of the best shoreline erosion controllers on the sand. These signature backdrops make noteworthy beach hedges. They bear large red-veined (more so when younger) ornamental leaves, historically used by sailors as natural notepads to document their on-shore explorations. Sea Grape leaves can measure up to 10 inches around. That could be an entire treasure map!

Your garden is just waiting for you to write it a love note on the Sea Grapes leaves!
Since ours is on the side of the house and there is a fence it grows tall and not too wide. So before hurricane season Bruce will trim it so if we do get a hurricane it won't be hitting the house.

All have a great day.

Good Monday morning, gang! And so another week for us retired folks begins ...

Got a call early this morning from the foot doctor's office to make my appointment 2 hours earlier. That was fine with me. The sooner the better to get this toe checked out, as far as I'm concerned.

Bill - Glad your new dishwasher is a keeper. I have a Bosch one too and HATE it! I don't know about yours, but mine does not have a dry cycle. I have to open the door a couple of inches to let the heat and steam out to let it dry itself. I didn't know this when I bought it and the technician who installed it said it was typical German technology at that time. I hope they've improved that feature now, as it's a real pain.

Karen - I make salmon in the oven all the time. Bake it at 350 for about 15 minutes. Before putting it in the oven I dot the top with butter and lemon slices. Then sprinkle lemon pepper on it. I also soften butter and mix in lemon juice and parsley. This we put on the finished fish to add even more moisture. The house also does not smell of fish!

Kathie - Glad your Easter dinner went well yesterday and I'm sure the extra help putting things back in place was very welcome.

Nancy - I had never heard of sea grapes either. I guess they aren't found in this area. Too bad as they really look neat.

Lee - Have you done the quick Covid test yet? Good idea to do it in the next day or so just to make sure. You and Lu-Ann have been so careful. I hope you never show a positive. I'll keep my fingers crossed that all will be well.

Dave - I too can't wait to see how Franklin turned out. Glad the CT Lung scan went well and that htere was no crowd. I love being finished with tests before my appointed time. I consider that a success.

Time to once again get off here and get ready for the doctor's appointment. I hope the right antibiotic will do the trick. I'll let you know later how I make out. In the meantime, have a good day and stay safe.
