AND STILL
COLD! But at least it's not raining today!

We were up and ready early for the latest SIDING ESTIMATE this morning.
I must say that if we didn't get any more estimates we would go with this company. Very good presentation and explanation. We have a couple more estimates coming in the next week or so and will then make our decision. Personally, I'll be thrilled to get this project off my mind. NO MORE PAINTING and Art getting on ladders. His shoulder just wouldn't let him do a big paint job like this anymore. I know he's all for getting this project done because he hasn't pushed BACK ON IT AT ALL. :emoticon 0136 giggle: Normally he would be saying: "I can do this", but he hasn't said a word this time around.

Mike: I found a new quick SWEET TREAT! You open a package of Ritz Crackers and spread Nutella on them, and they melt in your mouth. I had some with my coffee yesterday and need to HIDE BOTH ITEMS to stay away from them. Of course, you have to like the chocolate hazelnut taste of Nutella!

Lee: Good for the O.G.C. guys not dropping everything to work on "Jim's Basement"! Sometimes things can get a tad out of hand doing favors. I actually feel bad every time you guys have to spend days over there!
And I personally thing that above or inground pools are a waste of good money anywhere in our area. Unless you have an endless bankroll of money to keep the HEATER ON 90 degrees you'll never get in the silly pool. Just too cold. I'd say our neighbors across the street use their beautiful inground pool about 20 days out of the season. They've used it a tad more since the grandkids are now toddlers, but not much.

Karen: On the average how many folks in your complex actually get in the pool and swim or float these days? I'm thinking you get the pool to yourselves most of the time. Enjoy your weekend.

I'm off to buy a small bag of course potting soil. I'm transplanting my 4-leaf clover plant. Not sure what the real name is. It's overgrown its pot for way too long. I have smaller pots to fill and then will pass them on to friends. More than 4 indoor plants is just too much for me. I either overwater or forget to water them. :emoticon 0136 giggle:

Enjoy your day.

I think a nice THICK VEGGIE SOUP is in order for our dinner. I even have some of Jill's Sour Dough bread in the freezer I can thaw out to go with it. YUM.

WOW do those Taco Smash Burgers ever look good Kathie! Nice caramelization on the burger when it’s smashed on the flat top. No one will be able to say you and Art didn’t do your due diligence researching and getting estimates on the siding! I agree with you about unheated pools in our area.
Lunch at a local winery with a friend from Ayr tomorrow. Nic and her Greyhound Izzy are staying with Lisa. We’re looking forward to it.
Have a good evening everyone.

I MADE THE “ Taco Smash Burger “ for our dinner and it was good! I used 2 frying pans and it worked out great. Nice and juicy. but messy. :p OI added some minced onions and skipped the pickles. Used Thousand Island dressing and it hit the spot!

Trump is really getting on my nerves this week. Can you imagine how much Cell Phones are going to cost if he puts his ridiculous tariffs on Apple!
Crazy S O B!
Wish Tony, Dave and Pat were around to express their opinions on the JERK.

YOU ALL HAVE A GOOD SATURDAY. I’ll be trying to stay warm!

Not too much to go on about this Saturday morning. Did you caramelize the onions before you added them Kathie? Heck, they were already messy. What’s a few more splatters?
Lu-Ann went to the new ladies wear store in town when Ava and I went to meet her after the ladies Friday coffee club. This was the view Ava and I had from the shop’s front porch.

Pretty nice view looking through The Navy Yard to The River.
Have a nice Saturday everyone.

Hi Wrabbits.
I’m watching the SErbian Singing Society Festival LIVE in Aliquippa, PA. Serbian Choirs come from all over the USA and “Canada” to sing and celebrate on Memorial Weekend. It’s been going on since 1930’s! I wasn’t able to go this year, but have usually gone in past years. Lots of singing, dancing ethnic “Kolos” dances and of course what would a gathering of Serbs be with out LOTS of drinking a d toasting Shots! Wow.

It live on St Elijah Choir Facebook page. Sat & Sun.

Dreary here again, but a TAD warmer.
Back to the program now. Don’t want to miss my own Detroit choir on stage and of course our Canadian sister choir GRACANICA of Windsor, Ont.

Have a good weekend folks.

Good Saturday afternoon!

Kathie, sounds like you've had quite a few siding guys show up to give estimates, that's a good start! Hopefully the prices you are getting aren't to much of a shock.
Great pic's of the choir! Most of the time it's just my sisters & I at the pool, last Sunday I think there were 6 of us there, the most there has been at one time for a while!

Lee, hope you had a nice time at the winery today, fingers crossed the weather co-operates and you don't get rained out. That's a pretty nice view from the porch for sure!

Mike, hope you are getting dried out a little bit from all the rain! I have one cherry tomato plant that is full of blossoms & little tomato's. I saw an article online that said when you plant tomato plants to put a tums antacid tablet in the hole, it boosts calcium & is supposed to prevent blossom rot, should know in a couple weeks or so if it worked.

Had a memory pop up on Facebook today, that 14 years ago I retired from Southern Plumbing, seems like forever ago! And I still love being retired!

Got Jane's bench put back together, I put some decals on the back to dress it up a bit, just waiting for it to cool off a little more so I can put a couple coats of clear paint over them to help them last longer. Will post a pic of the finished bench once I get it all done.
Got an email from Brian our old choir director, he is playing at a funeral Friday for a old former choir member & said that Rev. Lisa would like the choir to participate in the funeral as well. So now we have a rehearsal on Thurs. evening to figure out what we are going to be doing.
Still scorching hot here & no rain in site, I won't need to be mowing Jane's grass anytime soon at this rate. Enjoy your Sat. all, I will be putting in a good word for all of us at church tomorrow!

Karen, no rain for 2 days now and it will start to warm up tomorrow or Monday. I think I will put a tums beside my tomato plants. I usually don't have problems with my tomatoes but better safe than sorry. I forget what one is supposed to use to help the tomatoes taste sweeter. Fay brought home a grape tomato with one tomato, no blossoms. I told her she could fry it.
K2, thanks for t he picture. Fay bought some nuttella???? this morning. I tasted it and thought it would go well with ritz crackers that we always have. The taco smash burgers look pretty good. I use to find 4 leaf clovers all the time but haven't found one in years. We had 2 small patches of clover in our yard years ago. I think I could go with an all clover yard but my daughter and grand daughter are allegic to the bee stings.
Lee, nice view of the navy yard. Have a nice time at the winery tomorrow.
I got a packett of single hollyhock seeds today. I have some seeds that are years old but I wanter fresh seeds. If I get some flowers I will make hollyhock dolls out of them, used to do that years ago.
Fay used the weedeater where our garden used to be. She has some hibiscus coming up and she didn't want the lawn guy to cut them down. We have had them for years.
Have a good evening

Good Sunday morning everyone.
Nice to see the whole gang drop by for a chat. A busy group for sure.
I was able to watch some of the choir video Kathie. The other link was a private group and wanted me to join. Nope.
Nice that your choir was requested to participate at the funeral Karen. I’m sure it will mean a lot to the family. Looking forward to pics of the bench!
I had to look up hollyhock dolls Mike. There were so many styles and designs. Similar but different. One of our hibiscus is starting to come up. I’m thinking the other one may be done.

Lunch was good. Chilly, but good. The winery’s seating is all outside under a huge pavilion roof. They only serve six different wood fired pizzas fresh out of the oven which is also outdoors. They, as with most of the wineries with outdoor seating, are pet friendly so Nic could bring Izzy.
It was warmer last evening at 6:30 than it has been for days. Hopefully that upward temperature trend continues.
Have a really good and safe day.

Good Morning Wrabbits! 58F, but NOT Windy so far.

I’m leaning over the kitchen island posting on here and the smell of our Lilly of the Valley’s that I picked yesterday are over-powering! Love that scent.

Your Wine & Pizza lunch sounds yummy….except for eating it outside. :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:
Mike : I still remember you making your famous HOLLY-Hock Dolls. If your plants bloom you’ll have to make some for us. I bet I have a picture in one of my computers that are in the basement and ready to get tossed out. No way could I get them to work to check them for photos!
Karen: So nice of your choir to sing at the funeral.
Can’t wait to see pics of the Bench.

Here are some pics from our local flower nursery. You all have a safe and fun day.

What a beautiful picture of the Lillies of The Valley Kathie! Were they growing in your garden? Beautiful!
Ava got her nails clipped after her walk this morning. One of the little grooming shops in town does nails once a month for $10!! The vet wants $35. Savannah and Erica are so good with all of the dogs.
Crazy people we are we went to Costco today. We were surprised it wasn’t a lot busier. Then we got in and saw how much prices have risen and that could explain it.
When we got home I cut the front lawn. Our backyard neighbour, Mark, is having guests so I will cut our back maybe tomorrow.
I hope you’re all having a wonderful Sunday.

Lee: Yes, those Lilly of the Valley's are from our garden. Or it might be called a STRIP GARDEN the length of the garage.
Jill gave us about 20 bulbs that she was pulling out from around her garden area 2 yrs ago and they just took to the "Michigan Clay" like fish to water. They spread, so the area that they are in is perfect. They can either grow nicely where they are or root under the narrow sidewalk area before they hit the grass. I'll try and take a picture to explain it.
All in all I used to plant Impatiens there every year and they would be beautiful and fill in the area really nicely. Well, at the cost of annuals these days that's out of the question. So, these are GREEN LEAVES with White Flowers for a little while and then just Green leaves again. Works for me.

Costco prices:  A 3# bag of Walnuts used to be $7.99 or $8.99 and now are $11.99. I bet they will be higher the next time I check the price. Crazy.

Not much going on over here today. Watched the Second Day of the Serbian choir festival. Yesterdays was just a tad better, but not by much.

Watched the Indy 500. Lots of crashes.

Now it's the PGA Golf on TV. Boring Sunday.

I did see that it was HOT, HOT, HOT in Florida. Enjoy.

Good morning.
A bright but chilly start to this Monday. Memorial Day for our friends south of the Canada - US border. A day to honour and remember.
I’ll be sure to pass along your greeting to Lu-Ann Kathie.
We don’t have much planned for today. I asked my sweetie the other day if she’d like to go out to one of the nice breakfast places but she wasn’t sure. We generally prefer a nice breakfast or lunch out so we can eat light the rest of the day. Many of our restaurants in town are closed Monday. Today is our final PD dance class for the summer so we have to think about the timing of that around meals too.
Gosh, long gone are those days we could eat just about anything, any time and still “have room for dessert”.
I’ll pop back to check on you all later on.
Until then, everyone have a wonderful day.
