K2, when I'm on the tractor Fay is watching me, I don;t know what she expects me to do, wheelies or something. your banana bread looks delicious, I bet it tastes as good as it looks.
Kc, the hydrangias are a little bit more work and more time consuming which I didn't realize, but if they turn out okay it will be worth it. Once we were at a very large nursery and saw a large gatherings of flowers on sale. they were not watered and looked pretty sad and cost almost nothing. we bought them and gavet hem a good dose of water, in few weeks they looked fantastic, I think they were marygolds.
Lee, some friends came over and we had ice cream and pie tonight. Thanks for the invite. That is a very nice picture. I have never heard of black slate. I hope my hydranea plants do well, if not the seeds were inexpensive, won't be too much work and I will enjoy watcjomg them grow. It's time to call it a night, get my snack and go to be.

Good Friday morning.
Our early walk was like walking through a movie set! Today is recycle day and many people put their bins out the night before. I pop ours to the curb when we get back from our walk. We did have really powerful storms overnight. Most bins have been blown over, “garbage” is everywhere. I pulled a few bins out of the middle of the roads. Ava and I had to be extra careful because there were a lot of broken bottles as well. It really did look like a hurricane had hit! On the bright side, our slate got a good rinse and it’s all black this morning.
I’m sitting here thinking how good a piece of Kathie’s warm banana bread would be right now.
We noticed that 11” hanging baskets were already on sale at one of the garden centres yesterday Mike. If you do “pop a wheelie” in that yard tractor make sure Fay records it. :)
Good morning Karen.
I’m off to Jim’s for another morning of work in the basement finishing job that never ends…Lu-Ann and the ladies are headed to town for their Friday coffee.
All of you have a wonderful day.

Good Mi-Morning!
Thanks for the lovely picture Lee. Now I know what a WEEPING PEA plant looks like and the Black Slate! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile: It fits in very nicely! Your front looks really nice. Good job!

We got lucky with the storm from last night. It RAINED and we had lightning, but no thunder or very high winds. Whew… missed the bullet this time around. Lot of damage here and there on the news this morning.
I called a company to come give us a quote for our overhang and garage peak in siding. The guy asked if it was due to the storm damage! Nope, just need it done. He said he lives a few mikes from us in the are and there was lots of damage. Glad it missed us.
I‘m off of here to go outside and try and plant my flowers in the deck boxes.
Mike: Good to know Fay watches you When you’re out riding around.

Lee: Don’t overdue it at the Jim’s place. “Te job that keeps TAKING, instead of giving!
Karen: Hope you can relax and enjoy your day.

Just checking in, I'm toast! Carmen & I went to the nursery this morning & MY plan was to get the plants & plant them next week, Carmen thought we should go ahead & plant them today, so we did. Put about 2 doz asst. annuals & perennials in the flower bed & spread 5 bags of cypress mulch in another bed area, all in near 90 degree heat. Poor Carmen isn't well and really should NOT have been doing that but she's the lady in charge so I just do what she wants. She goes Wednesday to have a pacemaker installed. I didn't get pics but will next week when I go spread a couple bags of the rubber mulch in the area we planted today. Now I'm heading for the shower and a NAP!

Did you have a nice nap Karen, you deserved it.
Nice that you lucked out K2. I think Fay would be happy if I didn't get on the lawn tractor but that is the only wary I can get any distance away from the house.
Lee, I hated those jobs that take forever but it was the big jobs that paid the most. Now you got me wanting a piece of Kathie's banana bread. It has been years since baked one. We may get severe thunder storm and possible tornado, not too excited about going to the basement.
Have a good night.

KAREN: Okay girl........what are you doing out in 90 degree weather planting and spreading mulch. I really think both of you ladies deserve a TIME OUT. Yes, I know it's none of my business, but you are a near and dear friend and I don't want you to pass out from HEAT STROKE. Okay, I'm off my soap box for now.

We went to the quaint Shamrock Bar for an absolutely delicious hamburger. It was better than a few weeks ago. Sure beats any hamburger I ever try and make.

I'm off to put my feet up. This HOT HEAT over by us never does my ankles any good. It's supposed to get "chiller" the next few days. Wouldn't it be nice if I lived in a place that was 75F and NO HUMIDITY. :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

Night all.

Good morning. It’s not quite 6:00 so I’ll try to be quiet.
Karen, like Kathie said. You and Carmen deserve a good scolding. Especially when Carmen is going for a corrective heart procedure this coming week. I do hope your shower and nap were followed by feet up and a small glass of wine.
A good burger is a rare find Kathie. Too many places rely on the premade frozen burgers. Not enough places take the time to make a right proper hand made burger any more. Neither Lu-Ann nor I can take extreme heat especially when humidity gets thrown in to the mix.

it was the big jobs that paid the most.
What is this “paid” that you refer to Mike? :emoticon 0102 bigsmile: I can only think of one time that we headed to the basement for a storm warning. And on that day a tornado did pass just to the north edge of the town where we used to live. It cut a path that heavily damaged the Home Hardware store, the feed mill and a wooded area.
I’m not sure what mischief will find us today. But whatever comes your way I hope you all have a good, relaxing one.

Good morning! Woke up waaaay to early this morning & then just when I was about to doze off my alarm went off at 6:14, I forgot to turn my phone alarm off from last Saturday's work day.

Mike, hope you & Fay did not get any bad storms yesterday. I did rest yesterday after my shower but didn't manage to fall asleep.

Kathie, trust me, planting flowers yesterday was NOT my idea of a good time, but when the 84 yr old chairman of the garden committee wants to plant flowers, well, that's what you do. :) I did park my truck in the shade & we took lot's of breaks and drank water. We really weren't out that long, it was just HOT!

Lee, No wine yesterday after my rest but I did relax & goof off the rest of the day. Thanks for the pic of the black slate, I've never seen that before, it looks really NICE! You mentioned working in Jim's basement again, how is his wife Gail doing with her treatments?

Today is the memorial service for Rev. Lisa's mother in law, I'm sure the church will be full, she was a well loved lady! Other than going to that I have zero plans for the day. May take a ride down to BJ's in the villages for gas but that's it. Now it's time for a 2nd cup of coffee & sit on the porch for a bit while it's still nice & cool outside

Good AFTERNOON on this PURE MICHIGAN 60 degree day! I'm not complaining except for the EXTREME WIND that made me keep the windows closed. Still too much POLLEN from the Willow Tree next door and other flowering shrubs to keep them open today.
Our entire backyard and lawns across the street, etc, etc are FULL of Helicopter Seeds from our 'dear' Maple tree. Our neighbor next door must hate this time of year. He just cut his grass yesterday and it looked perfect but......NOT TODAY!!

maple-seed-twins-17819738.jpg
Imagine this picture multiplied by hundreds of thousands!!

Karen: At 84 yrs old you Garden Chairperson is doing much better than I am when it comes to tolerating the heat AND WORKING SO HARD. Hope her pacemaker procedure goes well.
I did see that you had a Piano during todays service for Rev Liza's MIL's funeral. Sounded nice.

Lee: While waiting for our hamburgers yesterday we were able to see that a HUGE stainless steel (big) roaster type pan came out of the back kitchen full of nicely made huge patties. It looked like they were freshly made either by hand or a machine. Totally not frozen. They have a OPEN KITCHEN GRILL where you watch a actual symphony of movement by the grill-masters. They never stop moving. I'm sure those 2 fellas sleep well once they get home.

The outside patio was open and totally full as was the inside. I can't imagine how many burgers they make in a day yet alone a WEEK!

Mike: Hope you didn't get any of that horrible storms that ST Louis and Chicago are got.

Crazy time of the year. 80F degrees yesterday and 60F today. Suppose to get even colder the next few days.

Off of here to get some fresh brewed coffee. Art is out in this crazy WIND biking. Wonder if the wind was on his BACK ON THE WAY HOME! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

Lee when Fay and I get burgers, I do not eat t he bun but I put a lot of other things on it, I occasionally did work for other people and I got paid for it. Family, friends and neighbors I got a thank you which is all I wanted.
K2, we got 3/4 inch of heavy rain last night with a lot of thunder. We did have tornado warnings on tv but did not get a warning telephone call. Our neighbor has a large silver maple and it has a lot ot helicopters.
I hope you are rested now Kc
Our tulip polart tree had a lot of flowers on it but I think they only lasted one day.

With all this CONTINUOUS strong wind today, you would think all the clumps of Maple Seedlings would have blown off by now. NOPE. I used my binoculars and could still see tons of them hanging on. Just not ready to take the plunge. :emoticon 0136 giggle:

Dark clouds and then sunny off and on. Crazy day 61F here now at 6:00 pm.

Off to make us something to eat. Does this making DINNER ever end! Ha Ha, I didn't think so

Good morning.
We too are in a cool drop in temperatures after it felt like the upper 80’s the other day. 65F and breezy looks like the high for the next few days.
Yesterday there were yard sales everywhere. This morning many places that didn’t sell some of their wares have taken them to the curb for garbage day.
Gail finished her treatments and rang the gong in the cancer center Karen. We were all up there that day for her. She’s still on a medication to hopefully keep things at bay. It will be a very emotional day for Reverend Lisa. It’s the congregation’s turn to lift her spirits.
At our BBQ the other night it was “raining” maple keys Kathie. I remember as a kid peeling the seed end open and sticking the key on my nose!
I think all of us are getting to the end of our patience with the basement job Mike. It has continually evolved way past the simple project we all thought it would be.
Yesterday our Navy Yard Park was overrun by out of towners fishing. Well outside of the designated fishing area. Of course there wasn’t a bylaw officer to be seen. These people come to town, bring their entire families, food, coolers and garbage. Sadly, they contribute nothing to the local shops when they’re here.
I think a coffee may be in order.
Everyone have a wonderful Sunday.

God has a way of expressing himself at times ........well let's say lots of times.
Last night before Art went to bed, I mentioned that I wouldn't be going to church and that
we could sleep in all cozy with the "chilly" weather we were having.
No sooner did I say that I got a message from our choir president asking if she could come by and pick up my 'choir costume' to be used by another choir member at the big Festival in Aliquippa, PA next weekend! Sure, come on over! There went sleeping in.
Mary came by this morning and even brought us a Cherry Strudel from a local store. She can never just stop by without BRINGING SOME GOODIE. Serbs are so like that.
So, since I wasn't going to church......GOD had his way of still getting me up earlier than I wanted to. WIN for Him.... Loss for Me! Ha Ha. I did watch a Serbian Live Cast from Canton, Ohio church and some of Karen's church service too.

Lee: Your mention about the folks coming to 'fish' and leaving a mess reminds me of visitors in Florida at the beach not cleaning up after themselves. Hate to see that no matter where it happens.

Off to get another cup of HOT COFFEE. It's freezing cold outside and STILL WINDY. I had my Winter down jacket on when I went to the grocery store yesterday evening.
Pure Michigan weather sucks this time of the year. ;)

66F, windy and overcast this afternoon.
There weren’t as many unwelcome visitors at The Navy Yard this morning. Still there were too many. I’m working on an email to our ever vigilant By-Law Department and a copy to council. Other “regulars” we see at the park every day are doing the same thing.
“People plan, God laughs“ Kathie. So much for sleeping in. Cherry Strudel, eh? I must be part Serbian. I feel obliged to bring something if I’m dropping by someone’s home too.
I hope you’re all having a nice Sunday.

KAREN: Sure glad it’s SUNDAY and you’re not spreading mulch or planting at the church since the REAL FEEL is almost 100 degrees by you !

Good evening!

Kathie, nope no planting or spreading mulch today, spent about 2 hours in the pool this afternoon with my sisters. Pool temp said 89 but it still felt "brisk" when we first got in. I have a feeling that won't last much longer. Sorry you didn't get to sleep in this morning, but I'll get up early any morning for Cherry strudel!

Lee, it's sad that out of town visitors can't be more respectful & contribute to the local economy when they are visiting. I know times are tough for everyone these days but a cup of coffee or an ice cream isn't going to bankrupt any one. If it is then STAY HOME!!!!

Mike, I am indeed well rested, thanks! There are a few people in my community that I do work for, some pay & some don't and I'm fine with either way, I'm just thankful I am still able to get down on the ground & weed flower beds & things, most of the ones in here can't.

The service for Rev. Lisa's MIL was well attended yesterday, I believe they said there were 80 or so people, 30 of which were family. The man playing the piano is the husband of one of our choir members & had played for the choir the Sunday after Easter. Sadly, he is 84 years old & not interested or really able to play for the church every Sunday, nor does he have experience directing a choir, so we are still on the look out for a replacement for Brian.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday all, a Facebook reminder popped up that today was our Pat's birthday, Happy Heavenly Birthday Mama Bunny!

Karen, glad you are well rested and took it a easier today, you sure earned it. Fay can still weed but I can't. She works the biggest part of the day and I can't do anything.
K2 isn't there something about the best of plans.

I remember as a kid peeling the seed end open and sticking the key on my nose! I remember doing that, I still try to do it every year now.
Lee,It is sad and aggravating the way some people are. I don't know if it is ignorance or not caring and expect other people to clean up after them. I hope you get some results from your note to t he by law department.

Good morning and Happy Victoria Day. Oh, wait. I’m the only one here who celebrates Queen Victoria‘s Birthday. She was The Queen way back when and is considered The Mother of Confederation when Upper Canada and Lower Canada kinda just became Canada.
I’m glad someone else remembers sticking those maple keys on their nose Mike. Being a bit of a class clown I used to find them at recess and wear them back into class.
Nice that so many people turned out for Reverend Lisa’s MiL Karen. It doesn't sound like Brian will be easily replaced. If you found an organist / piano player are any of the choir members able to lead the choir? While you were basking in 94F we were struggling to reach 55F!
Lu-Ann mentioned that yesterday was Pat’s birthday. Damn, I miss them all.
The wind off the lake and river kept it cold here too Kathie. As a matter of fact when Ava and I got back this morning I made a cup of coffee. I usually wait until Lu-Ann gets up but at 49F and overcast it just seemed like a good idea.
I cut the backyard (again!) yesterday afternoon. I’ll do the front (again) today. Other than that and our usual walks in The Navy Yard and Fort Malden I don’t know what mischief will come our way.
Whatever mischief all of you get in to, have a fantastic Monday.

49F and Brrr chilly! Had the furnace on this morning to take the damp cold out of the house. That's not supposed to happen the 3rd week of May! :( But that's the way it goes.

Happy Victoria Day to our Canadian family!

Karen:
I envy you being able to be in the pool! That wouldn't happen around here unless you had an inground pool with the heat set at 95degrees or better! I still remember DAVE having his pool temp up HIGH. Also, remember when he and Kathi decided to have it filled in. That had to be a hard call for them.

Yes, our Mama Bear (BB) PAT --- had a heavenly birthday yesterday. Miss that gal big time.

We're having our " 1st " estimate for SIDING to be put on the houses overhang and peaks, etc, etc. I'll make sure to have my HEART MEDS taken when he gives us the estimate! I have at least 4 more to call and get out here. Should be interesting to see the various prices! It's not going to be cheap, but it has to be done. Art just can't get up on a ladder and scrap and paint that area anymore. Even though he'd most likely love to do it. We should have had it done years ago.

Off to get some coffee before the guy shows up! He will get POINTS for being on time! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile: That all goes into the final person we pick! Ha Ha.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY VICTORIA DAY
Good luck with the estimate K2, that will be a lot of cutting and measuring. I hated scralping paint, glad we have brick now. Getting down from the ladder is harder than going up unless he jumps.
I took a Victorian lit class one year, does t hat count Lee, can't remember too much about it except I enjoyed it and liked t he prof. Our lawn guy cut t he grass AGAIN this morning, we are havin a lot of agains it seems like Lee.
Have a good day everyone.
