Karen - Good to see you short post on here. I hope you feel better real soon.
Lee - I can relate to how helpless you feel at time right now. I too get frustrated over things I can no longer do, but once you recover will be able to do again. I, on the other hand, will never be able to do some of the things I used to just take for granted and now have to wait and depend on other people to do it for me. Even some of the simplest tasks leave me gasping for air, so that I have to use oxygen a lot. Sometimes just walking from one end of the house to the other has me huffing without the O2. Let's not even think about walking anywhere outside. I just can't do it.
So while you're frustrated having others do things for you, you know that with each day you are improving and working yourself back to that old guy Lee who loves to take walks, drink coffee and visit with friends. He will show up one of these days. In the meantime, take it slow, my friend.
Kathie - For right now, Bert is content crawling around to get at stuff in those bottom cabinets, even when his knees are not happy. This attitude really surprises me as he's a neatness , well organized person. Believes in a place for everything and everything in it's place. He has all kinds of plastic containers and trays that he keeps things in. That's how he organized the kitchen drawers with wood trays and plastic containers. Talk about being anal ... As soon as we get a new appliance, TV, kitchen product, he immediately grabs the paperwork that comes with it before I get to see it. He puts it all in a plastic comic book bag which he folds and tapes closed. The paperwork then goes in a deep tray where all these plastic bags are lined up and kept in the garage where only he knows where they are. Heck, since the day we moved into this house (16 years ago), I have never gotten to read or figure out all the features and uses for the microwave which, one of these days needs to be replaced. But the directions are in perfect condition.
I think we have a t-storm getting ready to hit us, so I should see about getting off here until after the storm passes.
