A quick check in from The Drury in Florence, KY.
Well, good and bad news about Dave. Thank you Kathi.
Not good news for your SiL Kathie.
Time for dinner and, wait for it, a glass of wine.
Back after dinner friends.

A little longer day than we anticipated. We were underway later than planned which was a good thing because we found out that today was the Atlanta Marathon. Over 11,000 participants so streets were closed, traffic was busy but fortunately we avoided most of it. Then we stopped for lunch and fuel in Jellico, TN and the little town had no power. The food spots were closed, the Shell had no power to the fuel pumps…ARGH!! But I never let the fuel reach the “oh oh“ point so we carried on a bit.
Geez Kathi, why would they send Dave home rather than keep him even just a day or two to keep an eye on him. Tell him we’re thinking about both of you.
I guess it’s good your nose is just dripping Kathie. If it were running you’d have to catch it!
When was your Mardi Gras dinner Karen. I know you did a ton of prep work for it but didn’t see when it was. Hope it was a resounding success!
I bet the house feels empty when The Tierney’s head home Mike.
What else. Ah, dinner tonight was baked potatoes, steamed veggies, penne and chicken! Darned fine food at The Drury.
In the some things never change category, guess who needs her after dinner walk? Nope, not Lu-Ann.
Have a good night my friends.

25F at 8:14 pm Sunday night.

Good post Lee.

Hope our boy, DAVE, is doing good tonight at home.

With all the firings and program shut-downs I feel we'll soon be doing DRIVE-Thru emergency services. It's just horrible what the heck is going on. Of course, it doesn't affect the Million and Billionaires they could care less. Okay, enough of that. I did say I wasn't going spend time on that subject, but it's hard not too.

Got a call that another young woman in her early 60's passed. She's struggled w/cancer and chemo and treatments for 20+ years. I just saw her at her Dad's funeral Dec 14. I feel for her MOM. Just buried her husband and now her daughter. Live throws some big cures at folks and you just never know when the road is going to turn. May she RIP.

Okay, I'm still unable to get or delete any E-MAIL messages. I'll work on that tomorrow. It's another day.

I have a afternoon Dr's appt that really should be a phone visit, but they don't do that anymore per insurance. Bummer. (only with certain exceptions is what I read)

Take care folks.

Lee: Glad the dinner was a good one at the motel.
Drive safely on your long last leg home. Hope all goes smoothly at the border. If not call us and you can come stay with us.

I think the insurances have somehing to do with sending people home early.
not much going on h ere, I wrote 2 letters, one to my old HS friend that I knew for 84 years and another That used to go to the same dance Fay and I did. I danced with her, she lives in the same town the Vance is from. She doesn't care much for frump, not too sure of how she feels about vance.
Lee, I could have called you in Florence but I don't hear on t he phone that well. I hope you and Lu-Ann have a good rest/

It's MONDAY. This is going to be one heck of a week over here. Too many passings and funerals.
My sister-in-law (in Chicago suburb area) is now on Hospice with DNR orders. No more going to Dialysis. Praying for her comfort.

I will be in and out this week. I would prefer more IN on here than OUT. You people keep things REAL.

DAVE: I hope Kathi can read some of our posts or maybe you can get to the computer to see them. Know we are all missing you big time on here. Keep up the fight and get better buddy. Hugs and Love from all.

Lee - Lu-Ann: Hope your travels today are good ones and you get back home at a decent hour and appreciate your own bed tonight. Thanks for taking us along on your Winter break.
Skies are BLUE and the SUN is shining for you, but the REAL FEEL at 11:00 a.m. is 23F!

Karen & Mike: You guys have a good day in your towns too.

I'm out of here to get myself in order for my Drs Appt that is a total waste of time. Wonder what we'll talk about after she says: "How you doing"! And I say: "Just fine"! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

Be safe all of you and stay healthy. Thanks.

Kathie, sending Hugs & Prayers to you for your Sister in Law & your friend who lost her daughter. Life sucks sometimes, but we just keep putting one foot in front of the other & hope for the best.

Lee, hope the remainder of your trip home goes smooth, I wouldn't blame you for pulling up the drawbridge & locking the gates once you get home, certain members of the US have lost their ever loving minds! Mardi Gras dinner was Friday night, so it was a very LONG day. A lot of the prep could have & should have been done earlier, but the lady in charge my friend Pat had been sick for nearly a month so it just didn't happen. I'm just thankful she was able to stick with us in the kitchen until we were done!

Dave/Kathi, hope Dave starts feeling better soon, maybe being home with you & the pups will be good medicine. I think it's nuts they send people home that are no where close to being well.

Mike, your Friday night desserts sounded pretty tasty, not sure I've ever seen an individual bundt cake before other than the rum cakes they sell on the islands.

Said a few extra prayers for all of us yesterday at church, ended up being another long day, but a fun day. Ended up sitting in the Parish Hall after the last service talking with Rev. Lisa & my friends Pat & Colleen, we sat there till almost 3 o'clock just talking about the dinner Friday night & things we'd like to see happen with the church. Poor Ginger thought I was never coming home, she met me at the door & flopped down on the floor like she was starving!

Today we had a visit from the well care nurse. Dave's oxygen machine was replaced. We like the new one.

Slow moving day Start the list of doctors appointments Tuesday.

And with that, 4508 miles later, we are home. Seems like we just left.
Thank you for all your well wishes along the way. It was clear and dry coming home which was, for this time of year, a bonus.
Slow and steady has been proven to win the race Kathi. You and Dave take it slow and steady. Thank you for the update.
So sorry to hear about your family and friends Kathie. Why do things like that always seem to come in bunches? You take care and drop by when you can.
I wondered if your Mardi Gras dinner was over the weekend or tomorrow, “Fat Tuesday” Karen.
A crazy long day for your group for sure.
According to Lu-Ann I don’t hear as well as I used to either Mike.
Admittedly, I’m tired. I’m going to sign off, put my feet up and call it a day.
Have a good evening everyone.

Good to know you are home! Now rest up after that long drive so you can tell us how the traffic was!

My Dr's appt was just like I said. Hello how are you and 10 mins later I was making a appointment for
March of 2026 ! Unreal.

I'm stressed from a lot that's going on and will be back tomorrow.

Love you all.

SIL is now IN HOSPITAL on Hospice CARE. Feel so bad for my 2 nieces. It's life, but it sucks at times. :(

Email messages are still not happening. Can't delete old ones either. HATE COMPUTERS and CELL PHONES and LAP TOPS and iPADS right now. o_O

A rainy start to the day. Oh well…
So it seems that Humpty Trumpty has started a trade and tariff war with Canada, Mexico and every other nation in the world that was formerly considered a friend. Most business and financial experts in The US and Canada seem to think in the long run The US will be the loser. Hell, that happened when the moron got elected. I wonder if he has ever heard the saying “he who stirs the sh1t pot often winds up having to lick the spoon“?
This, our hutch, always has been a good place to come to chat or vent. So Kathie, we’re here for you just like you’re always here for us. Seems we sometimes get “tested” with what and how much life throws at us. This place really is a life-preserver that way.
You asked about the traffic…from Florence to home with the exception of about 15 minutes through Cincinnati was excellent. There was 2 cars ahead of us at the border. The agent welcomed us “home” with a smile. I don’t think we were even 3 minutes at the booth answering her standard questions after almost nine weeks (including travel days) away.
How’s Dave doing today Kathi? I miss him and his early morning posts. Kinda like when your favourite morning radio host switches to mid day.
How is Hansel doing after a little time on his meds and special food Karen?
We got home in time to catch the last day of paczki pasteries Mike. A filled Polish donut that are available at bakeries here until today. Various types but I bet that you, like me, would enjoy them!
We have to do some grocery and thank you gift shopping this morning. In the past we have brought a few things from FL for the folks who keep an eye on our house. NOT this year. We’ll be picking up some gift certificates for local Canadian restaurants which we know they enjoy.
Coffee? Did someone mention coffee? I’m in.
You all have a great Tuesday.

Lee, I apologise for not getting in touch with you yesterday. I should have attempted to call you. After driving from Fl. to Ky there is no reason why I couldn't have. Please forgive me.
Sincerely ,

Things are crazy over here! Just feel bad for all the families going through all this.

Hello to DAVE/Kathi. How’s it going over there?

Karen, Mike/Fay hello to you guys too.

Lee: I stopped by Costco to cash my Rewards check on the way home from the Drs appt and went in the back and picked up one of those $ 4.99 chickens for our dinner and the
FOOD LADY was passing out these chocolates and I thought of you RIGHT AWAY! Ha ha. I took 2! One I ate for you.
Costco rules!

Art is proud of you for NOT buying your friends anything from the USA. What a sad situation.
I’m not going to watch him speak tonight. :puke:

Good evening everyone.
Mike, you have no reason at all to apologize! I could just as easily have called you too. Heck, neither of us hears that well on the phone these days so there you go.
Mmmm. Chocolate. Thank you Kathie. We were at Costco today too AND we picked up a rotisserie chicken for dinner.
One of the worst parts of coming home is the major grocery shopping that you have to do!
Thank you for stopping by Karen.
Sending good thoughts and prayers for Dave and Kathie. And the rest of you as well.
Subie goes for service tomorrow morning. This is a bigger service so I hope they still have a good supply of pre tariff stuff!
See you all in the morning.

A cool, damp and windy start to the day. Still, Ava and I made it out for her early walk. We tried to get to The Navy Yard yesterday but it kept raining. Maybe, depending on when Subie is done, we’ll try again today.
I had been meaning to ask Kathie, how is Mr. Manny doing? As I recall he was on medication (aren’t we all!) for a skin issue.
Best get my day organized and going. It’s garbage day here but unlike Emerald Island or Windsor Palms the bin men only come once a week and you have to take your garbage to the curb!
Hi to the rest of you fine people!

Good afternoon, pretty quiet in the hutch lately, I know we are all thinking of Dave & Kathi & Kathie.
Lee, my trash men don't tote my bins either, I'm lucky that today they at least tossed them back towards the yard instead of letting them roll down the street.
Kathie, hope the reward check was enough to cover the cost of the chicken. It makes me wonder why if they are using the "excuse" of Bird Flu for the cost of eggs being sky high why is chicken still someone reasonable??
Rotisserie chicken sounds good, I had pancakes for supper last night, it was Shrove Tues, the day before Lent starts and tradition is to use up all the "carbs" before lent. The men at church do a pancake dinner each year for free or donations if you want.

Was hoping to get some yard work done this morning but between the wind & occasional rain shower I just stayed inside. Not much else going on, choir is singing tonight at the Ash Wednesday service so another busy week

Got a little more sleep last night and it helped. (with the help of Melatonin)
Feel more rested so far today!

I need to ask about Mr Manny's skin bumps. I know he got a bath on Sunday, so they would have been able to see how the old bumps were doing! I'll let you know.

Lee: I don't envy you when you get the bill for your Subie maintenance work-up!

Karen: How is Hansel doing? (spelling might be wrong?) Sing nice tonight girl! :minion shout: Use this mega horn if you don't have enough singers there! Ha Ha

Mike: I'm making a batch of Choc Chip cookies right now to keep busy. I'll VIRTUALLY send you some.

Out of here for now. Saw a picture of my SIL and it will NOT BE LONG. Poor sweet lady.:emoticon 0153 brokenheart:

Thanks Lee, I'm glad you had a safe trip home. Cinci can be a bear to drive thru sometimes, there is another way but it wouldn't have save you any time.
Mike: I'm making a batch of Choc Chip cookies right now to keep busy. I'll VIRTUALLY send you some.anks l/hanks K2, I'll have them with my coffee soon, Sorry about your family and friends, it seems like when it rains it pours.
I hope you are feeling better and improving Dave.
Karen, Fay has to take our garbage to the curb also but she has a wheeled large container.
I think I'll get a cup of coffee and have a (some) chocolate chip cookies, join me any one

I’m in Mike!
Today’s Subie bill is, drum roll, $870.99. But Kathie, that includes tax. We knew it would be a large bill because all fluids (coolant, brake, oil) are replaced, PCV valve is replaced, injectors are serviced and so on. So, yep a big service but no surprises. They’ve already sent the video of the inspection. Subie looked like she was in the ICU with all of the lines attached!
Because Lu-Ann and I generate so little garbage I still use the bags. Some weeks, as long as there’s nothing stinky in it, I don’t even put out the garbage. We also have recycling every two weeks.
Enjoy your evening and songs Karen. Pancakes are always a hit with me! I really enjoy them at Cracker Barrel and Disney’s Kona Cafe. Bright sun here and then heavy rain. It’s been like that all day.
Hi Dave and Kathi.
Just waiting for the call that the service shuttle is on the way to get me.
