Return of the Cruising Bunny's....

Good afternoon. I did not get up until 10 this morning. I have been looking at emails since and doing a couple of easy things.

Watching NASCAR which is in Chicago on a street course. Have read that many in Chicago are not happy because the previous mayor is the one that signed off on it and did not tell the rest of the city council about it until it was signed off and the day before making the announcement. So this may be the only year it is run. A few of the turns are very tight.

K2 Art sure has a job in front of him.

Pat, I know the heat and ice do help me with swelling. I had to use that when I had the surgery to fix my torn meniscus but even though it helped with that it did nothing for the pain. Going on a short cruise is a very good way to find out if you should be able to go on a longer one. Last night I heard a couple of the banging fireworks but only two. I have to say that most places in the close streets have pretty much given up on fireworks and those that do don't do late. I would say from what you have said I agree Bert will be heading out on his own soon. It is so great that Jennifer said she wanted you two at her party. And hopefully Missy will do cleaning to get ready for it for you.

I will be fixing Corned Beef and Cabbage for dinner tonight.

All have a great day.

"How the heck are you dodging all the wildfire smoke Bill?"
Well, Dave, I'd like to say it's from clean living, but I think the answer is some sort of weather front that is keeping the smoke south of us. That probably won't last very long and the air quality may deteriorate over the next few days. We are also getting a brief respite from the rain, but again that isn't something that will last very long and scattered rain, mixed in with a few thunderstorms looks likely over the next couple of days. I just hope that the weather doesn't affect the celebrations scheduled for the 4th.
Today's HOA
cookout was a big success and over 100 residents were there and they pretty much completely filled the hall. If any more people had signed up there might not have been enough seats for them. Met some more neighbors and enjoyed the conversation at the table.
Rita brought her lobster home and will be making lobster salad for later.
Our friends, Rich and Dianne and their family will be debarking their cruise ship tomorrow morning and expect to be home sometime tomorrow afternoon. Hope that all of the recent airline delays and cancellations won't alter their plans. Saw some of their pictures and the crowds in some of the ports were
enormous, but they seemed to be having a fantastic time.
Can''t wait to hear their stories about their experience.
Don't believe that your house could ever not look presentable, BB, but I am sure that Missy and her crew will help doing whatever is necessary to make sure it is up to your standards.

Sometimes our kids say or do things that make you realize that maybe you did do a decent job raising them. Jennifer's comment of wanting her grandma and grandpa to share in the celebration of her birthday is just such an instance.

Happy Canada Day GIF by Region of Waterloo Public Health and Emergency Services

Lee & Lu-Ann hope you had fun Celebrating Canada Day!

Art got his project done and now just needs to sprinkle the new grass seed and wait to see how things go!

I have all the ingredients to make the baked beans for the 4th of July! I’ll do that tomorrow and it will go in the refrig in the basement!

Pat: Sounds like Bert I’d making up for not shopping in awhile. Hate to see the BILL for all that yummy food!

I must say I’m hoping Missy & Jimmy will be going on your cruise with you. After the last cruise I think everyone in the Bunny Hutch would agree.

Waiting for the Detroit Tigers baseball game to start. Not much to watch on TV on a Sat.

Karen…..miss you! :emoticon 0152 heart:

Good evening.

Well practice and qualifying for both Xfinity and Cup had a few drivers crash. They started the Xfinity race and it was going pretty good when there was lightning within 8 miles so they had to stop the race. Well after talking as much as they could they started showing the race from the beginning. And finally NASCAR said the race will resume tomorrow at 11 because there is a big chance of mor lightning.

Dinner came out real good and this piece was small enough that we don't have too much leftover.

All have a good night.

OK, now I'm getting worried. Time to suit up the Mounties Lee, and send out a search party for KC.

That was a fascinating story K2 about your grandfather's shovel. A 100 year old museum piece! It got me thinking about that time period. I even wondered what he paid for it at the time. Probably one tenth of what you'd pay for one now. (Still, put it on Art's Christmas list.

Like you BB, I was feeling that there was very little fireworks activity around here with July 4th being so close. Last night, somebody found the ON switch. Now the fire department, police department, and Emergency rooms will be on edge for quite a few days. Or weeks. All signed up and got reservations for that cruise you picked out?

Bill, I'm still amazed that your HOA cookout had lobster. No wonder 100 residents showed up.

Ya'll have a mighty fine Sunday. And don't be blowing off any fingers.

The men, well, man, is saddled up and headed towards the border Dave. Don’t you worry. We’ll find Miss Karen.
Busy day with Lisa and Shiraz getting a few things settled in. Bell came and hooked up her services yesterday. Yep, on Canada Day! Today I’m going to swap out 33 drawer and cupboard handles in her kitchen.
Time to try to get to The Navy Yard before the rains move in for the day. Open Air has already been cancelled because of the pending heavy rain.
So, hi to everyone and each and every one of you have the best day possible.

Sunday Morning Pink GIF
(Just in case you forgot what day it was) :emoticon 0100 smile:

Fireworks have been VERY sparse around here up until now. It'll pick up the next few days.

HI TO LEE who just popped on! Have a good day with your company Shiraz.

We have a "FOG-LIKE HAZE" going on outside. I hope it's FOG from the overnight shower we got and not more of the Canadian Smoke!

No church for me today. The choir is taking some Sunday's off during the Summer. I think we sing next July 11th. The new priest is not going to like this very much!

I'm off to make us some coffee and pancakes. Art is just crawling out of bed.

You all have a nice and safe Sunday. Be back later.

Good morning. Just finished my shower. We will be going to lunch, I guess to Casa Amigos.

The Xfinity race finished at 11 this morning and then the Cup race starts just after 5 this evening.

It is looking like it may rain even though they say no rain today.

All have a great day.

Good morning! Lee & Lu-Ann - A belated Happy Canada Day! I forgot yesterday ... bad me!!

Going to be a very busy day around here in celebration of Jennifer's 10th birthday, or as Missy puts it "just 8 more years to go!!!" Mean mother, that she is!! The whole gang of them are going to the pool around 12 for the kids to burn off some energy. While they are at the pool, Jimmy will start the seafood boil. He brought his huge seafood cooker here and plans to leave it in our garage, as he only uses it here anyway. I have no idea what he is planning to cook nor any idea of who all might be coming for the party. All I know is that I am a guest and don't have to do anything. They already told me not to worry as they will clean up everything after everyone leaves. That works for me!

Lee - Have fun changing out those handles. That should keep you occupied for a little while. Loved the picture on FB of the dogs chilling out. That was too cute. I hope the Mounties find Karen soon. We miss her here.

Kathie - I would have loved pancakes for breakfast today. As usual, I ended up with nothing for breakfast. I hope that haze you have is just fog and not the return of the smoke to your area. Loved the story about the shovel. I have a couple of cookie sheets that are at least that old too. They belonged to my grandmother and were passed down to my mother and then me. They are all bent up and black with age. When I use them now, I have to cover it with foil or parchment paper. No baking directly on them any longer. Lucky you to be getting a break from Church this week.

Dave - Still no fireworks around here and that's a good thing. I just have to give Rita our credit card number for the deposit and we're good to go. She's supposed to call me. M&J want to talk to her too to get a price for them to go too. As long as kids sail free, they can do it. Otherwise it would just be too much for them at this point.

Bill - I like your king of community BBQ. Getting to take home a lobster is awesome. Lobster is so ridiculously expensive here right now. Even a cooked 1 lb lobster costs $10. at the seafood market. Fresh lobster is running between $14 & 18. a pound, with the bigger lobsters costing the higher amount per pound.

Nancy - I want to catch a bit of that race tonight, if for no other reason to see how they set the course up. Years ago when we lived in NJ they ran a grand prix race through a neighboring area which was pretty neat.

Gary is coming over this afternoon for the seafood boil. I'm sure we;ll hear all about that gal that went overboard from deck 10 and actually survived. Definitely not something you hear happening. Reminded me of Carl Hiaasen's book "Skinny Dip"!

I best get going. I do want to cut up some veggies for a tray seeing as how I can't eat the potato chips and pretzels. At least I'll have something to munch on before the seafood is ready. Have a great Sunday and I hope things don't get too noisy in your area!

Thunder big time and POURING RAIN right now! Creek is coming up fast.
Mother Nature is making up for all the drought she has been dishing out to us up here.
Haven’t seen rain this hard in a long time.

This is EXACTLY what Art & I looked like about 1/2 hr ago.
It was the 2nd worst flooding of the creek in 30 yrs.
We were doing this OUTSIDE on the side of the house.
Neighbor acids the street came by to help us. Crazy!

Here are pictures after the water started to recede! Can’t get the video to load. Too big! IMG_8219.jpegIMG_8219.jpegIMG_8220.jpeg
This was AFTER WE BAILED lots of water.

rain GIF

MORE RAIN NOW! Lordy......enough already. I just took a shower & washed and dried my hair. Not going out there to BAIL no matter how much water comes down.

Good evening.

K2 hope you don't get too much more rain.

Pat, hope all went well for Jennifer's party.

Well NASCAR called the Xfinity race without having restarting it because the rain was not stopping and they had to clear all the Xfinity cars, carts and everything else. And get the CUP cars, cart and everything else in place. The CUP race was to start just after 5 but it was closer to 6 when they did start and it was lightly raining. The rain finally stopped and the line they are running dried so they all changed to slick tires.

Bruce has found a very good price for airfare to Honolulu, so if he can get us that price ore very close then I will find us a hotel and book a cruise around the islands. This would all be in September.

All have a good night.

GEESH K2, that's a bunch of rain you got. Something tells me that you are going to spend quite a bit of time this week landscaping and just cleaning up. We didn't have anywhere near the rain you got. Just enough to put an end to people around here setting off fireworks. Poor babies.

Maybe you can start unloading the ark now.

BB; Missy sounds like she not looking forward to Jennifer's teenage years. Teenagers can be such little "darlings". That's why Mother Nature makes babies so cute, so you don't kill them when they become teenagers. You can't eat potato chips or pretzels? Does the salt have anything to do with that?

Hey Dudley Do-Right, any KC sightings yet? You mentioned replacing 33 drawer and cupboard handles yesterday. Just shopping for those things can drive you nuts. WAY too many choices of designs and colors. All I know is that Kathi will never get silver colored ones. She says it reminds her too much of doctor's examining rooms. Seems they all have silver ones.

Good Morning Wrabbits! We got another shot at RAIN about 1/2 hr ago (7:30 am). It stopped for now. The basement is dry thanks to our hard work yesterday. Whew!
Art's head is spinning on ideas of how to avoid all of this. In his "Youth--about 25 years ago" he and the neighbor dug a trench in easement between the houses going towards the Creek and put in some black piping with the holes in it and the cloth around it. Well, Art is more than sure that that is most likely filled with mud, dirt, etc by now and useless. Time to do another dig and slant the dirt away from the house MORE to the middle depression between the houses. The neighbor has nothing to worry about his BASEMENT is a FOOT HIGHER than ours. Just the way the land went back then. Had we know, we should have had our basement RAISED another FOOT and avoided a lot of grief. Oh well, too late for that now. Ha Ha.

I've got my Baked Bean mixture in the Crock Pot in the basement on AUTO and it will slowly cook for hours to thicken it up. Then cool off later in the day and put back into the refrig until I bring it out for the lunch on the 4th at the Lake cottage. The water should be nice and high on the lake after all the rain we've had.

KAREN YOU BUSY? Hope nothing is wrong with Scooter. Take care.

DAVE posted: Maybe you can start unloading the ark now.
The First Load of Creek Animals has already gotten in the smaller ARK and is floating down the Clinton River! We have some Woodchucks and Beavers out in the backyard frantically building another small ARK for the rest of the wild-life to evacuate soon. Thanks for your concern.

Pat: How was the Party? The crab picture Missy posted looked really good. The cake was a gem too!

Nice to see the sun peeking out. We're suppose to get these rain showers on and off all day today. Tomorrow will be STEAMY and HOT. I'm bringing my bathing suit to the lake for sure. My Nephew has all kinds of Water Toys and I plan on grabbing a Kayak and
paddling around some tomorrow.

I'm off to get a cup of fresh made coffee and then I need to pick up a SHOULDER BRACE that a lady is "giving away" in our neighborhood. It was on our neighborhood site. I figured if Art ever gets surgery on his shoulder this Winter he might be able to use it. If not, I can always RE-GIFT it on the same site.

You all have a peaceful July 3rd and good luck on JULY 4th with the firecracker bombs. We had a sprinkle of them late last night, but nothing big deal at all.

Later gang.
