Lee: That's some mighty fancy work you boys did! Nice job. Great use of space. Love the bars in the staircase too. Kudo's guys.
Why did I think you guys were putting something around the POOL deck? Or wait.... maybe you did that too!

Nite all.

Good Saturday morning, Bunnies!

The inventor, Thomas Edison, would be proud in your choice of a light fixture, K2. You used 4 of his light bulbs and 8 of his test tubes.

Thanks for the picture Lee. Looking forward to the next ones.

My dad too listened to the "Don McNeill's Breakfast Club" on the radio, Bill. No electronic chips in that thing, only glass tubes.

A ride on an actual crab boat sounds cool, BB. Just for you young lady;

Hi to the rest of you Bunnies.

I'm hoping to visit the Massillon Museum this morning. (No, they don't get to keep me as a speciment.) I haven't visited that place since I was a kid. It used to be in the library, but a few years ago they put it in its' own building which was recently enlarged.

I called to see what their hours were and once it became apparent that I'm an older fella she mentioned that Oscar is still there. So I'll pay him a visit. Oscar is a skeleton. All kids remember him for the rest of their lives.

Good Saturday morning, y'all! Another typical day here in Florida - sunny, rainy, and sunny again in that order. At least the temps are in the low 90s, so it's not too terrible outside.

Not a lot going on around here today. I think I'll make a batch of blueberry muffins and send some of them over to Missy's house for them to enjoy. Now that we don't have anyone living with us, a dozen muffins would get stale before the got finished.

Dave - Thanks for making me teary with that song this morning. It helped to wash my eyes off!! Going on that crab boat really was cool and I figured that would be our one and only chance to go on one. Somewhere around here I have a picture of Bert holding a huge live king crab. Better him than me!

Lee - Great job by you old guys. You do nice work! Can't wait to see the next picture of the finished product.

Kathie - Nice choice for your light. Isn't it nice to have an in house electrician to install it for you right away? I could use one of them around here to add some lights over the breakfast bar/sink area. It's hard to work at the sink at times as there's isn't enough light there.

Bill - Ending up with a back to back cruise is fantastic. That's something we never did, much as I might have wanted to. Enjoy it!!

Hi to the rest of the bunnies who have not yet shown up here. Time for a cup of coffee and to read the newspaper. Have a super day, everyone!

I don’t know where the term “stink hot” came from but I’m gonna use it again! The temp is 81F but with the humidex right now it feels like 108 F. That’s just wrong!
Thank you for the kind comments about our work. Not bad for a bunch of retired guys with no formal construction training who have power tools, levels, tape measures and pencils behind their ears. We will be putting a rail around the pool deck but not until next year. The guys wanted to get it done while we were there but the lumber and hardware for the fence, pool deck and deck had already gone well over Jim and Gail’s planned budget. Good thing they didn’t have to pay for labour too!
Mmmm. Fresh blueberry muffins. You should freeze a few for later Pat. I’m sure Missy and the gang appreciate them! Those crab boats ride pretty low in the water, don’t they?
Hopefully you had a fun day at The Museum Dave. You should linger in front of Oscar and tell people you remember him when HE was just a kid. One of those rare tunes that topped the charts twice. 35 years apart.
I do hope that all of you folks are having a Super Saturday!

Good afternoon. Been a bit busy this morning as I decided I had to cancel the parking i had gotten for Oct and Dec since I could not get complete paperwork, so the new parking i got is a bit more expensive but still much less than parking at the port.

Lee, nice looking work.

In a bit will be watching the Xfinity race.

All have a great day.

Sunday is here........

Plans for today? Not much. Although lots of NFL Hall Of Fame activities are going on in this area. It's been Hall of Fame Week, meaning parades, a hot air balloon race, big parties, award dinners and of course the big Hall of Fame preseason game. Which I think the Raiders won.

Kathi and I didn't attend any of the festivities.

BB; Thinking more of your crab boat trip, I remembered a small boat excursion we took as an excursion in Key West many years ago when our RCCL ship docked there. It was on a World War 2 PT boat. (It's not there anymore.) That was a hoot. When out in the open water they let passengers steer the craft.

I liked your term stink-hot Lee, so I'm going to steal it. That's what it's going to be here today. If your friends who you built the pool deck for went way over budget for it, paying for labor to do it would have sent them way, way, way over budget.

I understand what you say K2; The heat and humidity can just drain a person.

In the news now they often mention how manufacturers are shrinking the size of packaging but are still charging the same as if it were the full sized container. Heck they don't sell you half gallon containers of ice cream any more. They are only a quart and a half. The term they use is "shrink-flation".

I bumped into a new one yesterday. I went to write 12 ounce cans of V8 on the grocery list for next week. Then I decided to look at the can I was drinking. Sure enough, it's only 11&1/2 ounces now.

It's no wonder I'm become more of a curmudgeon every year.

Good morning, finally getting caught up & back in my routine. It's funny how even a short trip can really disrupt your schedule

Lee, that is one fine looking construction project you & the old guys finished. I have power tools if you'd like to take on a few southern projects come cooler weather.

Pat, I always thought wounds had to "breath" to heal, your Dr. sounds more like a torturer than a healer. Sure hope they start getting better soon!

Dave, yep, everything is getting a little smaller & costing a lot more! That PT boat excursion sounds fun!

Kathie, nice looking light! And even better to have your own in house electrician to install it! Still waiting on one of the guys here to change out a couple plugs for me.

Bill, that was a nice score for the back to back cruise! I've only done 1, many years ago when I sailed with Dave & Kathi & Darlene
on the Majesty. I was able to do the 4 night & then stay on for the 3 night, even on that old ship they treated b2b guests pretty nice!

Spent Friday getting house work caught up, floors mopped & sheets changed. Then yesterday I mowed Jane's front yard & did some grocery shopping. Today I have to go to Publix & pick up Scooter's meds & then do some baking. I want to give the lady who took care of Scooter a little treat. And unless it's raining some pool time is also planned for this afternoon.
Tomorrow morning I have a dermatologist appt for a 6 month check up & see if she is going to do anything with the spot she biopsied a few months back, always something. Now it's coffee time!

Good morning. Got a pretty good nights sleep. Just finished my shower, so am ready for the day. Will be going to lunch but not until noon. Only other plan is to watch the race this afternoon.

For some reason I have thought that I have to put our meds in our backpacks but last night realized I have at least one roll on carry on so they can go in there, what a help. I ordered Bruce a small pair of binoculars last night, so both of us will have nice small ones to use and both of them will also go int he roll on.

Since Jennifer and Max like to do jigsaw puzzles Bruce ordered one that they will win something for completing it and she started it last night so she posted a few photos on Facebook and it does look very hard.

All have a great day.

Good morning! Slept in this morning until 9:30. I'm beginning to act like Bert!! LOL

Well, I was wrong about the weather yesterday. It was not sunny, rainy, and then sunny. It was sunny, rainy, sunny, rainy, sunny, rainy and then finally sunny! Some of that rainy weather really packed a punch with gusty winds and torrential rain. At least we got the outside windows in the family room nice & clean!! :)

Dave - That PT boar ride would have been a real hoot to do. I agree about the size of packaging getting smaller. Aside from ice crean, the one that gets me is Girl Scouts thin mints. Package is the same size, but the number of cookies inside is less and less. Plus the price keeps going up. I finally stopped buying them, much as that hurt, but $5. for a half empty box of cookies is a little too much.

Karen - Nice that you've managed to catch up with everything after your mini vacation. I hope the weather gods cooperate today and you get to go in the pool. We're hoping to go to the Grille for dinner, if the rains don't mess up our plans.

Nancy - Nice that you're getting everything so organized for your cruise. Enjoy the race today.

I was just reading about deathSantis's latest enemy ... tourists!! He wants a new specialty license plate with "Don't Tread on Me" complete with the snake on it. The purpose is to warn tourists not to tread on Florida. That man is a dictator in the making and worse than lil t was! God help us all if he ever got elected president. That would be the end of the US as we know and love it. Right now we can only hope he doesn't get reelected in November. He sure won't have our votes!

Not a lot going on around here today, so maybe I'll find some time to get out on the lanai in between any rain showers. Have a wonderful day today, no matter what you are doing. Make it a good one!

You can all blame Dave for that little memory! Did you get to see Oscar yesterday? We reckon that Jim and Gail saved THOUSANDS of dollars in labour. The fence, pool deck and deck…the only thing we didn’t do was track the hours spent on the projects.

Good afternoon folks. It currently feels like 113F with the humidex. You just can’t catch a breath out there.
How much will your state taxes go up if tourists and their dollars start to head to other states Pat? Hopefully you’ll get to spend a little time on the lanai with, if I may suggest, a glass of wine.
Careful what you ask for Karen! You may end up with four old guys in orange t-shirts knocking at your door one day. How is Scooter doing these days?
You may want to keep those meds in your back pack Nancy. We’ve heard of carry on bags having to be checked because the overhead bins get filled.
Try to stay cool across The River Kathie. I suspect our weather is pretty darned similar.
I noticed the leaves on the tree on our front lawn is so dry it is dropping its leaves too Bill.
Time to hit the exercise equipment.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday everyone.

Lee, if that happens you'll get a big smile & a come on in from me! Scooter is doing about the same, she goes in on Sept 8th for her 3 month blood pressure check & then on the 15th for an ultra sound of her heart. She is going to need dental surgery again in the not to distant future & Dr. Edwards wants to check out her heart murmur before we do surgery, Ka-ching, Ka-ching. But I'd never forgive myself if something happened during the dental surgery & I hadn't taken every precaution.
Found out today that 3 of my friends here have tested positive for covid & they all were
vaccinated. Barb had ordered some of the free test kits so we will be testing ourselves once they come in

Lee, I am wondering, I have read that when flying into Canada that all medications need to be in original bottle. Is this true? If so then I won't be taking one over the counter mineral as the bottle is too big.

A’Burg Guy

Our Katie needs a dental too Karen. BUT…she can’t tolerate the meds that she would need to stem bleeding. We know she is, as are many Greys, a bleeder. We tried her with meds twice before surgery was scheduled and she was as sick as, well, a dog. Dr. Beth suggested we simply stay the course with brushing and visual checks.

This is from Canada.ca Nancy…

Health products you bring into Canada for personal use must either:
  • be in the package dispensed by the hospital or pharmacy
  • be in the original retail package, or
  • have the original label attached to it (the label must clearly say what the health product is and what it contains)
Better safe than sorry I suppose. As always it can depend on what frame of mind the CBSA agent is in when you arrive in Canada and the US CBP agent when you’re headed home.

Checking in from PURE HUMID MICHIGAN.
We got a 5 min (at the most) rain shower about 1 hour ago. All it did was keep the dust down on the trees. I was hoping for a real soaking. They say we might get more rain around 11 pm.

It's just plain old miserable outside. I feel for anybody that is out there working. People with boats don't even go out in this kind of heat and humidity.

I made us a nice Orzo salad with 2 kinds of canned beans and some chopped up red & yellow peppers. That and leftover (re-heated pizza from yesterday) will be our dinner tonight.

I have 4 more drawers to go through and find places for STUFF. Most of the STUFF will be in the trash since 2 of the drawers are the JUNK DRAWERS. I haven't touched anything in those drawers, except for rubber bands and the stapler, in 8 weeks. Does that tell you anything. YUP, all that STUFF needs to get dumped big time.

Arts measured a cabinet to put in a weird angle shelf for me. It's in a cabinet that is basically just filling in a space and making the area look good. I have my Kitchen Aid mixer in there and my food processor. The shelf will help hold my hand mixer and some attachments. So nice to have a guy as handy as Art to do these projects.

Still looking for a carpet for under the kitchen table. Pain in the butt job.

Nancy, you have to be the most READY TO CRUISE person I've ever known. I'm with Lee on putting your meds in the backpack. That can always go under your seat if they run out of room in the overhead storage areas. Better safe than sorry. And try and remember:

LESS is BEST!

Lee: Thanks for the pictures of your construction work. I wouldn't bother putting up a railing on that pool deck. It looks good without it. They don't have kids to worry about falling off and it's not a long way down if
an adult got out of control and fell. Save money and time.

Off to feed my man.

Karen: Good to know that Scooter is hanging in there.

Another week begins. With a hot and muggly Monday. But cooling should arrive tomorrow with a high only in the mid 70's.

Very interesting reading from you Bunnies yesterday.

The McHales's Navy theme song was neat to hear. How many of those TV show theme songs do we still have memorized in our brains, but still can't remember where we put the remote 15 minutes ago.

Keep those pictures coming, boys & girls.

The only thing of any consequence we did yesterday was to go to Wally-World to get a prescription for Kathi.

On the way to the store I asked Kathi to guess if it would be busy around 10 AM, or not. She said busy since all schools will be starting up soon. Boy was she right. Plus this State declared no sales tax, this past weekend, on school supplies and school clothes.

In a bit I'm off to the dentist to have a bonding re-bonded. At the same time Kathi will be heading over to a doctor for a bone density test.

Ah....life in the fast lane.

I'm down to 3 small old kitchen drawers to clean out and I'll be done with that nonsense. Whew!

DAVE:
Good luck with the "Bonding"! And I always laugh when my doctors insist on me getting a Bone Density Test. Like I already know I'm shrinking and my "density" is never going to be what it was 30 years ago. What a waste of money. Hope Kathi's test proves she still has good bone structure!

Art goes to the eye specialist this morning. The eye is holding its own as far as the aneurism goes. They keep trying a few new drugs, but it's a stubborn SOB.

Hope you all have a good day. I'll check back in later. DANG IT's EARLY! o_O

Good morning, fellow bunnies! I guess us Floridians are the only ones who are going to have cooler temps today. We're going to stay in the high 80s with lots of clouds and t-storms expected around 4 this afternoon. Towards the end of this week, we will once again be back in the high 90s. Just what the kids need heading back to school. Thank goodness the schools all have AC.

Got some bad news yesterday. Our friends J&J in NC lost their son-in-law Friday night to multiple sclerosis. That's the same thing Annette died from. He'd been going progressively downhill for a couple of years and it finally reached the point where his wife could no longer take care of him. He was admitted to a hospice house about 2 weeks ago, so everyone knew the end was near. Such a shame as he was only in his mid 50s. Too young to go like that. :( At least he's finally out of pain.

We broke down last night and went to the Grille for dinner. Had totally bad food for me - hot wings and a huge plate of potato skins with cheese sauce and bacon. Boy did that all taste good and we still have some potato skins left for lunch today. Definitely not healthy, but we needed some junk food for a change.

Nancy - I have to agree with Kathie that you have got to be the most prepared person ever going on a cruise. Good for you. I heard on the new last night that Kevin Harvick won the race yesterday. He used to be a favorite of ours when he drove the Outback car. Every time he finished in the top 10, if you went the next day to Outback, you got a free bloomin Onion. We ate a lot of them back then and haven't had one since they stopped that promotion. Ah, such fond memories!! LOL

Lee - Love the pictures of the finished product. I disagree with Kathie though. A railing needs to go around that deck. A fall off that deck by an older person has broken hip or worse written all over it.

Karen - Glad to hear Scooter is holding her own these days. How old is she now? Seems like you've had her for a good long time.

Dave - I wouldn't venture into Walmart this week for the same reasons you mentioned - school opening. All the little darlings need school supplied and clothes. We've had a tax holiday here too, so people are taking advantage of it. M&J went school shopping with the kids the other day and spent $600.! Don't forget that they wear uniforms to school, so the stores really nail them on what they can and cannot wear. Backpacks are ridiculously expensive and usually don't last the whole year. Don't even get me going on how much tennis shoes cost these days for the kids. I am so glad our kids are grown.

Kathie - Glad you're slowly but surely getting everything organized in your kitchen drawers and cabinets. I bet you'll be glad when that job is done. Back in Ocala I had one of those funky kind of corner cabinets to keep the big mixer and all it's parts in. The cabinet even had a plug in it, so I just had to pull the mixer out and got right to work. I really miss that now.

Got a lot of running around to do today. Bert has a whole list of places to go, so I'll keep him company on his road trip. No home health people coming today. YIPPY!!!

Time for me to get off here and get ready to go out. have a great Monday, everyone, and stay safe!

Good afternoon.

Thanks Lee for the list, I guess I won't bring one over the counter mineral as the bottle is just too big, not having for almost two weeks won't hurt and all will go in my backpack. This morning I pulled the binoculars and camera case out and put them in the carryon so that helps a lot.

Yesterday we went to the Mexican restaurant and then to Lowes. When we got home the wheelchair was here. it was not easy getting it out of the box, we had to tip the box but got it done. Once inside I had Bruce take the leg pads off the foot rest bars and then took off the arm rests, doing that has made it about 4 lbs lighter so that is good.

For a normal cruise I usually pack a week prior but with having to take clothes that are not normal I decided to see about packing most earlier.

Pat, here in Ft Pierce right now it is 92 and muggy due to rain last evening and this morning. And the temps and rain won't be changing in a while.

Yes, Kevin Harvick won. His wife and daughter were there and yesterday morning his daughter heard that his son had ridden in the car with him after a win so she told him he had to win so she could ride in the car. Piper is a bit younger than Keelan was so she was a bit shy on getting the checkered flag but you could see her enjoyment in waving it and getting to ride in the car. It has been just under 2 years since Kevin won.

All have a great day.

Good afternoon.
Yet another day of uncomfortable humidity. We are supposed to get a break tomorrow.
My day started with the rest of the guys removing a granite countertop from Dave’s kitchen. They’re getting a new one Wednesday and the installers won’t remove this one. Why replace it? After 2 years Jan didn‘t like it. And I’ll say no more…
How’s the legs Pat? You know, every now and again you just have to satisfy that urge for some food that you know you shouldn’t have. Stops us all from going completely mad. We agree about the raining and reason. If somebody were to be sitting too close to the edge they could do a double back flip onto the grass. And as adult beverages are sometimes consumed on said deck, we’ll, you know.
You are most welcome Nancy. That was pretty quick to get the wheel chair to your door. Like the gang has said, you sure are prepared!

my "density" is never going to be what it was 30 years ago.
Anybody else hear Tony chuckling…We had a good downpour this morning Kathie. We still need a good long gentle rain. Good for you tossing so much stuff from the “junk drawers”.
I was going to play some TV theme songs Dave. There is a collection of them. But I couldn’t find the remote. How did you both do at your various scans and bondings?
I just saw that Miss Olivia Newton-John passed today. What young men of certain ages didn’t have a crush on her.
Time to feed the pups and then us. On the menu tonight…Asian salad with chicken.
Be good every.
