Good morning. Well I goofed in packing again for Tampa as the temp today and tomorrow is only going to be low to mid 70's and I did not pack any pants or a shirt or two with sleeves for me.

Last night at bedtime Bruce asked me if I had packed his pills, which I didn't and neither had he.

Today is Max's 14th birthday, so tonight he will open the gifts from the family. Tomorrow is his party a go cart race with his friends at an indoor track.

All have a great day.

Happy Friday! You know what that means? Absolutely nothing to us retirees!!!! After our rains yesterday, temperatures went way down from the 80s to the low 60s! Not my ideal temp for this time of the year.

Dave - You would love Buc-ees. They have all kinds of sauces to put on food. I especially love the pineapple habanero sauce on cocoanut shrimp. That is so yummy. Aside from loving chocolate, I also love fudge. Buc-ee's has a fudge sampler with 13 different types of fudgel They're only each about an inch square, but that's ok as I only take a small portion each time. And don't get me going on their brisket sandwiches that are to die for. Hopefully, we'll get there one day next week.
I love V8 or tomato juice. If we have breakfast in the dining room on a cruise, the first thing I order is tomato juice, as most places don't serve it.

Lee - Sorry to hear that your meds are still giving you a hard time and your cardiologist doesn't want to chage anything at this point. Hang in there, buddy.

Kathie - Dard chocolate is my favorite also. Glad your pastries are turning out great. How many are you going to make for the bake sale?

Karen - Where did you disappear to? Are you supervising the bathroom project at Barb's?

Nancy - Have a safe drive to Tampa.

Not a lot on tap for today. Not even sure what I'll make for dinner tonight. Time to check the freezer and see what we've got.

Hi again gang!
Went to the 'other' Serbian Orthodox church this morning for a funeral. A dear family from our church lost their 89 yr old Grandma and there were 8 of us from choir that showed up for the funeral service. She had "3" priests do the service. I was one of very few that wore my mask. Just not taking any chances with these SERBS. The group at this particular church wouldn't surprise me that 80% didn't get vaccinated! :emoticon 0138 thinking:

Left church and went to a local Baking Supply store to buy some paper holders to put some of the cookies into. They look better on the trays in them.

BB: I've made 3 different pastries so far. I'm going to continue making what I started last night and next week I'll be make a large pan of Baklava. It sells well.

It was sprinkling on and off as I drove back home this afternoon. Partly cloudy, but at least BRIGHT outside.

You all be good and take care.

Another day and another doctor's visit that went very well and I don't need to see this one for 4 months.
Ordered a replacement Fitbit watch Sunday and it arrived and is functioning.
We were awakened about 4 am by several extremely loud thunderclaps but managed to get back to sleep fairly quickly and this morning there was bright sunlight and bright blue skies filled with puffy white clouds. Nothing planned for today except to relax and catch up on my reading. The old problems with delivery of our daily newspaper have arisen again and twice this week no paper has been delivered. (They end up delivering it the next day with that day's paper).
Thought that problem had finally been resolved a month or two before we left for Florida.
Sorry to hear you are having problems with your meds, Lee. I finally got my primary care to increase one of my prescriptions to a 90 day supply rather than a 30 day, but when I went to the pharmacy to pick it up, they informed me that they didn't have it in stock and would have to order it and it would be "in" the next day. Fortunately, I have enough to make it through the next week.
Watched the ceremony at the White House celebrating the confirmation of our new Associate Justice of the Supreme Court and was
as impressed with her remarks as I had been with her remarks during the hearings. I'm not a fan of Mitt Romney but pleased that he at least broke from the obstructionist Republicans and voted for her confirmation.

Quick check in from me....seems like most of my time lately has been spent with Dr. visits...had the follow up yesterday on my blood work...most of it was pretty good...cholesterol is a tick high but I managed to talk her into letting me try diet & exercise before putting me on meds...B-12 is low, so I got 1 shot yesterday...with 3 more to follow over the next 3 weeks...along with sublingual b-12 supplements...aren't you all sorry now you asked where I've been? :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

Got the price back from Wes, it's a bit more than I was hoping for, but I know the job will be done & done right so we are going with it..he's planning to start work on it next week...I sure hope so...

Guess I'm the odd bunny here...I prefer milk or white choc over dark...don't care for dark at all....
Tomorrow is the community yard sale again...and my sisters are spending the night tonite to set up at it tomorrow...need to get some stuff done before they show up...probably catch up with you all again sometime Sunday

Cashed that cheque today Bill. $6 bucks and change Canadian. Woo Hoo!
Why can I remember the tag line “It sure doesn’t taste like tomato juice” Dave?

I’ve no doubt that things with the reno will fall into place with Wes Karen.
Cute bunny egg Kathie. What’s the carrot made of? ;)
So what did you make for dinner Pat?
Come on now Nancy. You’re as eager as those kids to take a go kart for a spin!

And with this comes the end to another chapter of “As The Hutch Turns”.
G’nite from The Burg.

Ok, where's the early morning crowd this morning?

Hot diggety dog, after a couple of months off, Rachel Maddow will return to her show Monday night. While gone, her replacements were OK just not as interesting as her.

Nice and creative way to present a hard boiled egg, K2. Good call on wearing a mask at the funeral.

BB; I'm a chocolate fan, but not keen on fudge. Everyone has their preferences.

Lots of luck on the community yard sale, KC. Hope it doesn't get rained out. In my little mind, there is something that just isn't right when it comes to white chocolate.

Speaking of my little mind; I got to look like the confused old man at the hardware store yesterday. I went in, told them what I wanted, indoor/outdoor waterproofing for Franklin, but after I purchased it I noticed they had handed me a can of stuff just for indoor use. So before I left the lot I got out of the car, went back in to get the stuff for outdoor use. Then I headed back out to the car, but couldn't find my keys. Went back in the store to see if I left them on the counter. Nope. Nor did I leave them on a shelf. At the suggestion of the clerk I went back out to the car to see if I had left them there. Sure enough, there they were in the ignition.

Hey, does this old fart get any points just for finding my car all by myself?

Full points Dave! As long as you didn’t get home only to have Kathi ask “Who’s car is that?”.

Whats Up Hello GIF by HBO Max
It's Saturday! If you wanted to go treat yourselves to a nice 'Breakfast' today is NOT the day to do it. Let the "Worker Folks" have the space instead. All of us "retiree's" can do that during the week and have more than half the restaurant to ourselves.
We have about 4 really good "breakfast type" restaurants close to our house and you just don't want to go there on Sat or Sunday mornings! They're FULL and you have a long wait for your orders.

DAVE: Nice way to get your STEPS done for the day .... walking back and forth looking for your keys! Sure hope that FRANKLIN appreciates all the work you're putting into his sprucing up project!

LEE: I think the CARROT is made out of a piece of real carrot! I think you just slice a small sliver off of a carrot and shape it to look like the carrot in the picture.

It's 33F here right now and surprisingly SUNNY. The temps are suppose to start to rise in the coming week to the mid- 60's! BRING IT ON.
Art just left to go Biking on the East side of town with his group of biker friends. Some of the Tuesday & Thursday bikers don't go on the Saturday ride because it's on gravel roads. They like getting into the dirt and grime and mud more than a ROAD BIKE RIDE. Crazy bikers.

KAREN: Hope the garage sale doesn't get rained out and you sell everything. HALF of the INSIDE of our house looks like a MAJOR ESTATE SALE right now. STUFF everywhere on tables. Good to know Barb is going with WES on the bathroom job. Once he gets started it should turn out to be a wise choice. If she's been without a shower this long, she'll make it waiting a few more weeks.
Nice to try and get your Cholesterol down on your own. Google what veggies to eat more of and get into a good exercise routine. Nice that she's giving you the B12 shots to boost the levels. You can do this girl.

NEGC: We use to get the newspaper delivered 3 times a week and the rest of the days were online. Now we just get the ONLINE newspaper. The delivery got to be so screwed up that I got tired of calling and telling them the driver missed our house again. Art had a BIG MONTITOR connected to the Lap-Top computer and it makes it easy for him to read the paper in the morning. We bought a comfortable desk chair and he seems quite happy. I only read it occasionally.
I stopped getting our prescriptions filled at Meijer pharmacy's because they never seem to have what the doctor ordered in stock. They order it from a central location around here someplace and it comes into the store within a day or day and a half. Hate having to go back and forth. Most all of the meds I take are from Express Scripts that come in the mail. I can get 15, 30 & 90 day supplies at local pharmacy's, but they cost a few buck more. Only do that for the meds we'd be taking very SHORT TERM and that you need ASAP.
Nice that you have so many favorite 'authors' to keep your book reading moving along. I really need to get back to reading books on a regular basis. Just too busy lately and then I fall asleep if I try and read later in the day.

BB: I'm hoping that M&J will 'host' Easter in their new home and give you and Bert a break this Easter. How's the G&E dual doing on that REBUILD HOUSE? Another month or so and the schools should be over and perhaps they'll find a rental closer to the project and give your house back! The way contractors work in Florida I fear they'll be living with you another whole year before that remodel is finished. I'm wondering if they wished they would have never taken on the move to begin with. Will Elaine have to find a new job once they move? Seems like that is a given!

I'm off to refill my coffee and THINK ABOUT washing the kitchen floor! ALWAYS SOMETHING.

Come back and let us know how your day went Bunnies!

Good morning. Jennifer made a fruit platter to take to the party and she ordered a sandwich platter and chicken fingers from Publix and picked them up this morning. We will be leaving here about 11.

Lee, maybe a number of years ago I would race the go cart but not now. Bruce has been saying he will race but he won't, there will be enough kids there to race.

Last night we went to a Mexican restaurant for dinner, it is what Max chose and it was pretty good. They had a sign at the register that Friday is $3 Mexican beer night so Bruce and I both had one, it was Modelo dark ad it was good. When we got home he opened his gifts and was happy with everything.

All have a great day.

Anyone have a shotgun I could borrow? I'm ready to shoot a smoke detector that has been BEEPING since 3 o'clock this morning. I'm going nuts listening to it. Everyome else is still in bed, so there's no onr to change the d*mn battery.

Kathie - Those hard boiled eggs look really cute. Little kids would love them.Missy is working Easter Sunday, so no dinner at her house this year. We're going to pick up a honey baked ham and make scalloped potatoes, cauliflower and asparagus for dinner. That will be pretty easy to organize.

Lee - Dinner last night consisted of finishing off the tortellini dinner I made the other night. I ended up having and American cheese sandwich on toast with mayo. That's all I really wanted. Tonight we are going out for dinner to celebrate Ethan's birthday. Where we eat is his choice and he chose Olive Garden. Haven't been there for quite a while.

Karen - Hop you making out at your garage sale? You have a a beautiful day for it. Not sure if we're going to do ours in a couple of weeks.

Dave - That's a funny story about your experiences at the hardware store.Sometimes things work like that, but give you something to laugh at.

Nancy - Gary and the boys are going go carting today as part of Ethan's birthday gift. While they are going, Elaine will stop at Publix for the obligatory Carvel Ice cream cake for us to have after we get home from dinner.

I hear the gang finally starting to stir, so I guess this would be a good time to get off the computer for a while. Have a fantastic Saturday!

It was an "interesting" evening last night.

For some time now, Kathi has been bound and determined to get another weaner-dog. I've been against another dog of any kind. (Sorry, but the smartest and best dog I've ever had was a mutt.)

But she wasn't going to quit till she got one.

And last night she did. A $1,000, purebred, miniature, 2 month old tan short-haired weaner-dog named "Jack". (But she was willing to pay half of that from her own mad-money.) Her and a granddaughter went out at about 6:30 last night to get him. Sold by an Amish farmer who breeds them. Yup, he even has the last name of "Yoder".

I've explained that Jack is HER dog and responsibility to train, house-break, and clean up after. My back can't take any additional bending over.

We'll see how that goes.

He is a cute little fella.

Another dog is something that is often a subject of discussion here as well Dave. My stance is similar to yours. I have a ton of reasons why I am against 4 more paws. Clearly I lost the “Ava” addition. All that said I hope the everyone enjoys the addition of Jack to your family.
Have you ever noticed that smoke alarm batteries ALWAYS crap out in the middle of the night Pat? How was Olive Garden? Another US chain that is gone from the landscape here in Ontario. Maybe even across Canada.
Nancy, I find that around go karts you can never take “the kid” out of “the man”.
So are you flush with cash after the sale Karen? I sure hope you did well. The thing I hate about yard/garage sales is that buyers generally never want to pay what you ask and sellers generally never ask what they are really hoping to get.
It‘s funny Kathie. We used curse the retirees who would shop on weekends, go to breakfast spots on weekends and shop or go to the bank at lunch time. “They have all day every day to do that stuff”. Now I know why. Retirees are busier than worker bees!
Now, after all that I think I’d like to go out for breakfast.
Hi to the rest of the gang and everyone have a great Sunday.

Good morning and happy Palm Sunday. Churches will be crowded today because people show up for the **FREE** palms!

Lee - Our dinner at Olive Garden was very good. It was quite chilly last night, so we all ordered soup instead of salad. After filling up on the soup, we wound up bringing most of our dinners home to eat tonight. Everyone was so full that when they got home the all went right to bed and didn't even have any ice cream cake!:emoticon 0136 giggle: That too will be consumed today.

Dave - Congratulations on the new addition to your family. Enjoy "Jack" as he grows up!

Nancy - The weather this week is crazy. Cold mornings and then warm in the afternoon. No wonder my nose is running again. So how was the party?

Karen - So how did you make out at the garage sale? Does it continue today? They stopped having our garage sale on Sunday also, as they were a waste of time. No one ever showed up on Sundays.

This morning is the Easter egg hunt in our community. They also have rides for the kids, food trucks to get something to eat, and beer. I object! If they have beer, they should have wine also. I'll have to bring that up with the powers-that-be!

As usual, everyone else is still asleep. Good chance for me to read the newspaper with no distractions. Have a qonderful day!

Good afternoon. Well the party yesterday was a HIT. With a party the kids get 3 races. And you need at least 5 kids and there were more. To of the kids were girls/sisters and for the first race they were 1 and 2 and Max was last. Jennifer had bought just enough food so while there were left overs it was not a ton.

The husband of Jennifer's cousin came with their son. I asked Sean how Barbara, his mother-in-law and Bruce's sister was doing after her surgery to repair her broken ankle and it is not good news, she was supposed to go to a nursing home but she quit eating, so the Dr wanted to put in a feeding tube so Becky stayed and went to the hospital. And she has decided to get Barbara in Hospice, she knows that Barbara would not want a feeding tube. So it seems we may have a funeral to go to in a few weeks. Barbara is 74 and has so many medical problems, we feel Hospice is the best.

We will be heading home pretty soon. We went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast and we got there at a good time, when we left the line to get a table was very long.

All have a great day.

Rule number 1. No dogs allowed on the furniture.
Rule number 2. Ignore rule number 1. Especially when you're so darned cute.
I'd say "Hi Jack" but that could get me in trouble with the authorities.

Almost 50F so I decided to clean most of the windows inside and out. I didn't do the big front window because I need to bring the ladder up. I can't do the family room window until we get the "outdoor living furniture" onto the "outdoor living space". Sounds so posh, doesn't it! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

Good evening!

Dave, Jack is quite the handsome little fella, I don't blame Kathi for falling head over heels with him...
Glad to hear the work with Franklin is progressing...in spite of a few senior moments... :)

Pat, nice that you can look forward to a day without cooking...I do hope you checked the fridge though before making that statement...I know how those boys love to polish off "leftovers"....No Sunday yard sale here either...thank goodness! One day was long enough!!

Lee, you were a very ambitious fellow today...I have 2 windows & a "door wall" as Kathie calls it...I think they've all been cleaned thoroughly once since I moved in...the blinds stay down over the windows...and it's a losing battle trying to keep up with the "nose prints"...so the door get's a quick wipe if there is coming coming...

kathie, I had googled foods to lower cholesterol before I even went to the Dr...I had seen my tests results online & knew that was going to be a topic of discussion...I'm planning to try & add more fish to my diet....with the air fryer I will still be able to enjoy the "fried" flavor..without the extra fat...butter, mayo & cheese will be a bigger challenge...

Nancy, sounds like a nice get away for you & Bruce...how are the hands doing?

Well, I won't be booking any world cruises with my yard sale earnings....I made $20, Jane made $12 and Barb made $53....a lot of work for not a lot of money...we had a decent turn out of customers...just not many of them bought anything....there were quite a few people set up in the community too, so it was nice to see people taking part in the sale....met a couple of the new residents and that was a nice perk as well...now I think I'm going to fix a cup of decaf coffee & see if anything catches my fancy on the tv tonite...

I KNEW IT….what took Kathi so long to get another puppy? Welcome JACK! I hope that Fuzz Butt and you get along!
He sure is a cutie.

Karen….sorry the garage sale wasn’t a HUGE success. It’s disappointing after all the set up, etc only to make a few bucks.
Art was busy today “taping the moldings“ in the dining room. Like he always says “ the hardest part of painting is the PREP work. And if you don’t do a good prep job you'll regret it later.

I stayed out of his way by making another batch of walnut shortbread cookies for the choir bake sale. I have the Baclava to do later this week and then I’m done except for arrangeimg them on trays and wrapping with saran wrap for transportation.
I watched the MASTERS GOLF TOURNAMENT as I baked.

We lost a good choir member that was a member of the Windsor choir. He was my camp counselor when I went to Serbian Teen camp. He was only 5 yrs older than me, but back when you were in camp he seemed way oldero me and my friends. May he RIP.

Okay folks….you all have a good week. Supposed to get warmer all week here in PURE MICHIGAN. CAN’t happen fast enough for me.
