Return of the Cruising Bunny's....

Popping in to good afternoon. Another busy day for all of you.
It was pretty neat to pet the Red Tailed Hawk and the Saw Whet Owl. Phil is a great speaker and could make watching jello set interesting.
I'm not feeling up to snuff today but did want to stop in and say "Hi". The Sargent Major here is telling me that she thinks I'm trying to do too much. She may be right...
And of course, you all know the drill.

LEE: YOU KNOW you've been pushing it lately. Those treatments CATCH UP with you sooner or later. Your body is trying to adjust, so give it some SLACK and just cool your jets. If you want to be able to get away this Winter you better listen to the SARGE and your body.
Remember "LESS IS BEST" right now! That means less running around and maybe time to limit the walks to once a day! The pups have a nice big yard they need to get use to roaming around in!

Thanks so much for posting those bird pictures, K2. I'm guessing that the bird on the top row is an owl, but the one on the bottom row isn't.

As far as that Middle West Whiskey & Pecans ice cream, it's the first time I've ever eaten an ice cream that did taste like booze. And they didn't skimp on pecans either. It was good but my favorite of all the flavors is, Honey Vanilla Bean.

Yes Lee, You have been overdoing it recently. Listen to the Sergeant major or she will have you confined to quarters.

Yikes, we're going out amongst the filthy diseased masses today. Need to pick up 3 prescriptions at Walley-World and grocery shopping at Giant Eagle.

And this time I accidentally hit the post reply button! It's going to be a long day at this rate for sure. That's what happens here when the sun isn't shining. We're in for a cloudy day all day, which is very unusual here. Then late tonight the rains will come and it is supposed to continue raining right into Saturday. I don't think we're going to be going anywhere fast for a while.

Dave - Good luck at Wally World and grocery shopping. Somewhere along the live I may have to venture into Publix with Bert and check out those ice cream flavors at our store. Might just try my luck at finding a good one.

Lee - Listen to all that good advice you are getting from everyone. Time to take it easy, buddy. Your body has been dealing with a lot and it's telling you to slow down for a while. Loved the pictures of the owl and the hawk. They were real beauties!

The following is about our evening last night. It's long and pretty boring, so you can skip it and go right to the bottom, if you'd like.

How flexible are you when it comes to something you're planning taking a turn in an entirely different direction? Around here we have to be flexible right now. Yesterday we planned and bought Publix fried chicken for dinner and planned to have that with french fries and a salad. Comes about 5:00 I saw on the computer that there was a really bad accident on Pleasant Hill Road heading in our direction, so I quick sent a message to M&J telling them about the accident and to find another way home. About an hour later Missy called us to ask Bert to pick up the kids from after care, as Jimmy had already been stuck in traffic for an hour close to us, but he couldn't get the kids. She also said her GPS was calling for about a 2 hour delay coming home, so she suggested that they go have dinner away from here until traffic died down. I said OK and that we would take the kids to the Grille, as kids eat free on Wednesdays.
So That's what we got ready to do and just as we were walking out the door, Jimmy arrived.
We all decided to still go to the Grille and Jimmy would order takeout for Missy. So that's what we did. Unfortunately, we got the worst server that works there. She literally could screw up a wet dream!!!! LOL We sat for over 15 minutes before she came to our table while she waited on people who got there after us. Then it took another 5 minutes for us to get a beer and a glass of wine. Jimmy and the kids had to wait longer and the old reason they finally got their was because I called her over.
We did finally get our food and while we were eating, in comes Missy. She too had taken a different rout, but it still took her almost 1 1/2 hours to come home. We al finished dinner and asked for the check. That's where the fun starts. The dippy server had to go back and forth at least 4 times before she straightened it out and still made a mistake that we finally said to forget about.

And then you wonder why I never posted my good night message last night! Sorry for rattling on and on. It's 72 here right now, but it feels damp in the house. Not a fun feeling on the skin.

Yesterday was National Advent Calendar Day! Did you get yours? Me neither. Aldi's has every type you could possibly want, including one for dogs or cats. I pick up cheap ones for the kids that give them a piece of chocolate each day. I have only one question though - You don't start opening the doors until Dec.1, so why are they making a big deal out of then on Nov 3rd? A definitely mystery!!

Time for another cup of coffee and to read the newspaper before Bert decides to grace me with his presence. Have a super day. Stay warm, if you're up north and stay dry, Karen. I'll try to stop back later, but I can't promise!;)

I'm back! I just found something that I think is so cool. Back in the day before Bert & I got married, Bert and Jeff had a record company called Amber Records. Most of their stuff never went very far, but one record of theirs actually made the charts. It's called Congratulations by the Valids. It's on YouTube! Check it out. This was released shortly after Bert went in the Marines.

Good Afternoon Wrabbits.
I have nothing for you folks so far today...........BUT..... I did go to look up on YouTube the "Congratulations" recording Pat mentioned from back in day. Well, I found Amber Records and the name of the song, but NO WHERE could I find a place to click to open it. Bummer.

Not giving up, I did find some guy that sang "Congratulations" in a song contest. See attached.

So Pat, does Bert perhaps have a copy in one of those boxes of treasured items in the garage? Ha Ha. I actually have something in the basement that can play a 45 record if he does! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

Have a good day folks.

Lee: Hope you rested after your ZAP today. And that you're keeping hydrated with lots of water. It's suppose to help. Take care buddy.

Finished the Jack Reacher book and have started on Janet Evanovitch's latest. Tell me, BB. What was Bert's opinion of the Reacher book? I was disappointed in it. Seemed like they have a set formula that every Reacher book has to follow and there is little or no imagination or creativity involved. Even the bad guy(s) aren't interesting. I have to believe that the collaboration between Lee and Andrew Child may have been a mistake. They are no Ellery Queen.
The day started out bright and sunny but the skies are now filled with dark clouds so I suspect that rain is in the forecast. Early morning temperatures have been in the high 30s, low 40s, so our first frost is definitely in the cards for sometime soon.

She literally could screw up a wet dream!!!!
Now that's no line to post when it's being read by a guy with any number of aliments! But is sure was funny Pat.
Cliff Richard is a VERY well known UK entertainer Kathie. He's sold 250 million or more records and at 81 I think he is still going strong!

I have to believe that the collaboration between Lee and Andrew Child may have been a mistake.
Bill, I have never written with Andrew Child. ;)
Spot on Dave. The little Saw Whet Owl is on the top. So named because of his call that sounds like drawing a sharpening stone across a saw. Go figure. The other bird was a red tailed hawk. Phil flipped and rotated the hawk and because of it's hunting ability it's head never moved. Really neat to see. The Hawk, a predator, was released in The Navy Yard. Phil has a little girl about 12 years young toss it in the air. The wee owl went back into his crate to be released a few miles from here. A good idea so that the owl didn't become a snack for the hawk.
OK, back to putting my feet up, drinking water and maybe even dozing off. Again.
You fine folks all be good and we'll see you tomorrow!

Kathie 0 That was an entirely different song from the one by the Valids. Try opening it from here -

Bill - Bert wasn't impressed by that book either. He liked the last one much better. I'm waiting for a call from the library that my copy of the Janet Evanovitch is waiting for me. Should get a call either later this afternoon or tomorrow. I'm #1 on the list to get it!!

Lee - I figured you'd appreciate that line! It was a funny thought, so I had to go with it. Good idea releasing the owl and hawk in 2 different areas. Around here, between the hawks and the eagles we have lost a lot of our little wildlife. You'll never see a rabbit, few regular squirrels and they wiped out an endangered species that lived here - Sherman Fox Squirrels! They were here when we moved here and we even have areas you can't to this day go into as that was their protected area. They were here when we first moved here, but as the community grew, the predators lost a lot of trees that they hung out in, so they started hunting in the protested areas. Sad!! This is what they look like -

Good afternoon....as Pat said a dull gloomy day here in the Sunshine State..the sun acted like it was going to try & break thur a couple times, but never made it...

Pat, that was quite an ordeal you & the gang had to go thru last night for dinner...sounds like the service at the Grille has been less than impressive lately...
That was quite an interesting tidbit about Bert being a former record recording Mogel...

Lee, just don't dribble your drink while you are Dozing....
Sounds like a pretty interesting talk & tour the other night..

Kathie, some days are just like that,,,ho-hum with nothing much to say...but thanks for popping in anyhow!

Bill, I don't believe I've read any books by the author you mention...but his book writhing style sounds a lot like most Hallmark movies....the characters may change...but the story line & ending never does....and yet...every year I watch the silly Christmas movies...

Dave, my brother was excited with his ice cream delivery last night...and like yours he said his came nice & frozen too...all packed snugly in the dry ice....he did say it's very rich so he thinks it will last him a while...

Not much going on around here today either...I had to run out & pick up a gift card & birthday card for one of the poolies...her birthday was Tues, but we are all doing her birthday lunch tomorrow...she lives in New York but rents a place here in the Villas & comes down every couple months to stay a week or 2...must be nice...but to follow that theme...I bought her a Southwest gift card since that is who she uses to fly down...
And with that I'm getting off of her & maybe do something productive...like figure out what I'm having for dinner...

Ha ha….Karen it’s 11:10 pm and you won’t believe me but as I’m reading all your great posts on here I am watching THE CHRISTMAS STORY. HA HA. Here’s why.
i follow this one cookie group on FBook and they were all talking about this cookie cutter that after you decorate the cookie it looks like a ladies long leg with a lamp shade on it. I asked what the connection was to the “Leg Lamp” they all said it was in the The Christmas Story movie. So that’s why I’m watching it.
I can’t believe you mentioned Christmas stories and I’m watching one. Too funny.

By the way, this is one goofy X-Mas movie. But aren’t most of them!

Bill thanks for the book review. I really need to start reading again this Winter. Trouble is once I start I don’t want to put the book down and nothing gets done around here.

LEE: I’m proud of you taking a break and giving your system some time to heal. Keep drinking that water. Add some squessed lemon, limes or oranges in it to help it go down and not get boring.

Okay the movie is over and I’m checking out for now.

Pat I was able to listen to the CONGRATULATIONS recording. Much better than the one I found. Thanks for posting it.

By the way, I saw the landscaping is in at M&J‘s. She posted a picture on Facebook. Won’t be long now and you’ll be EMPTY Nesters again!

Nite all.

All sorts of interesting posts from you Bunnies yesterday.

But for me, this morning, I don't have diddly-squat to gab about.

Mostly sunny today, and the second morning in a row for frost on the lawn.

Have a fun and safe day.

Its Friday Love GIF by Olle Engstrom
And like Dave said we have FROST on the Roof-tops and lawns! Suppose to slowly climb up to 50-57F the rest of the week at the warmest time of the day.
Whoppee! I need to find my boots and Winter shoes and have them handy. Can't be wearing these tennis shoes in the snow that is sure to be showing up! This PURE MICHIGAN time of the year SUCKS!

Art and I are going to out to the Pancake Factory for a late breakfast and then we're going to walk around one of the bigger cemeteries to see if we can find and take a picture of the kind of lettering style we want on the stone! I am SO GLAD we're getting this out of the way now and not leaving it for either of us to do on our own or for Jill. You folks getting cremated sure save a lot of money and time making choices.

When we get back the house needs to have a good dusting of the furniture and a
vacuuming.
Always something to do, but I've managed to put this off and when the sun shines in it's not nice to see the haze. :emoticon 0111 blush:

Lee: I bet you're glad it's finally Friday. Hope you are feeling a better after listening to the Sargent at Arms!! Hopefully, you're able to STOP cutting the grass now that the frost has hit a few times. But somehow, that silly grass just doesn't slow down as much as we want it to.
Ours still needs a few more cuts before the lawn man stops for the season.

Our Maple tree haven't started to turn colors in the backyard and the 2 in the front are just starting slowly to turn Red. We'll be raking leaves until the SNOW FLY's! Bummer.

You all take care and I'll check back to see if anybody has some Chatter on here later.

Good Day Donkey GIF by PBS KIDS

Good morning...another nothing much to chat about post...
Rainy, windy & cool here today....would much rather stay home & snuggle on the couch instead of going out for lunch...but at least I don't have to drive...Tom & Grant are picking me up....it sure is nice having neighborhood chauffer's.....I'll check back after lunch...

Still morning. Just barely though!
A beautiful bright sunny day that has seen the very heavy frost we had all but disappear.
So Pat, is there ANYTHING that you and Bert haven't dabbled in? I repeat, you should write a book. Acappela music simply amazes me! What also amazes me is that, back in the day, songs barely stretched into the 2 minute mark!
Enjoy that lunch. Is this a "bribery" (we may need your truck!) lunch or just a nice time with friends getting together? You always speak so highly of them. I do hope that this year affords a chance to meet them. You only need to head over to The Hallmark Channel for non stop Christmas movies Karen.
Of course with Hallmark the plot line seems to go...A blonde with red lipstick falls in love with a guy (who doesn't wear lipstick - that we can see!). She puts on high heels and they go for a walk during a snow storm. Then they take a carriage ride and drink hot chocolate. Then the single and, from the home she lives in, VERY rich female lead meets a guy from back home. Back in the day when she was 17 or something. Now she's 20, or so they would have us believe. During a visit from her brother (catch the twist there?) her current beau sees them embrace. He lowers his head and wanders away thinking that all is lost. She sees him dejectedly walking away. She puts on her higher heels (the snow is getting deeper!) and chases him out into the snow to talk to him. He listens to her, heads back to the house to meet her brother, they share a cup of hot chocolate, go ice skating and all is good in the world. THE END.
Kathie, you know that there's this thing called the internet that would likely show you all of the different fonts available for the marker stones. Now you have me wondering of there is an app to design your own marker? OK, I just looked. There is an endless supply of them! Who'd a thunk it? I suspect that I'll get one last cut of the grass done next week. It's supposed to get pretty nice here. Many of the trees here seem to have gone from green to bare without stopping at the colourful stage. A shame really because I love fall and the colours. Especially when the sun hits them! Spencer Gifts used to sell "Leg Lamps" from the movie. One of those on a table in your front window would sure get the neighbours talking!
What was on tap for today Dave? Groceries, Pooch Pampering, Lolly Gagging about? All good things to do.
I'm off. Lu-Ann has choir practice right now. I'd like to hit Starbucks for a slab of Ginger Loaf! I sure hope that haven't mucked with the recipe!
You all be really good and safe today. Plus, it's seven weeks to Christmas Eve.

Good early afternoon! Things are running slow around here today thanks to our grim weather outside. I didn't get out of bed until 9:30. Why bother on a day like this? I enjoyed just lying there listening to the rain. For once Bert was the early riser and was out in the kitchen before the kids left for school. That has never happened before!

Kathie - I can't believe you've never seen The Christmas Story. That's part of our Christmas Eve tradition. Every year at 8:00 the station plays that movie and continues to play it for the next 24 hours. Our gang loves that movie and they can recite all the special lines from it like "You'll shoot you eye out!" I've seen that cookie cutter of the lamp someplace.

When Bert & Jeff had the record company, we got to do some pretty interesting things and met a lot of the singers and entertainers from that time. Here's a fact that will blow your mind - They had one group of 4 or 5 teenage boys who had formed a band called the What Nots. Bert and Jeff managed them and got some of the right people to see and listen to them. One of those people was the State side manager of the Rolling Stones. They were just getting ready to do their first US tour and needed a lead in band. He wanted the What Nots to be that band due to their showmanship. Unfortunately, due to their ages, their parents had to sign on for this and one father said NO, so the deal was off. Instead the band they got was the Hollies who had a number of hit records! Such is life!!

Karen - Enjoy your lunch! Where were you going for lunch? Nice that they guys are offering to drive.

Dave - You sure didn't have much to say today. Cat got your tongue? LOL

Lee - Hurray! You're half way thru your treatment! Time for a glass of wine to celebrate!! Now just take it easy for a couple of days to get your strength back and to recharge your battery.
Love your description of those soupy Hallmark movies. Spot on! After seeing two or three of them, I was done. So I skip their Christmas movies completely. I've also stopped ready one particular author for about the same reason. Heck, they don't even kiss until 3/4 of the way through the book and that's as far as it gets! I like a book with a bit more meat to it, if you get my drift!
You don't even know half the things we managed to get involved in, but I'm not going to lay them all on you at once. It would take way too long!!

We had a pleasant surprise yesterday for dinner. Our granddaughter, Emily, came over with her father! That's the second time we've seen her this week. Last time before that was over 6 months ago. Trying to figure out what's going on with that. She loves dogs, so that could be the reason for part of it at least. Lets see when the next time will be.

I've run out of steam for now. It's time to find something for lunch. On a day like this, I would normally break out a can of soup, but I'm making chicken noodle soup for dinner tonight, as well as grilled cheese sandwiches, so that's out for lunch too.

Have a wonderful day, everyone. Do what ya gotta do and stay safe! :)

PS - Here's a picture of M&J's house with the landscaping -

Back from lunch...this was the birthday get together for one of our pool group...we went to an Italian Restaurant that we had gone to last month...there were 15 of us this time...we had the same waitress, but the service was subpar to say the least....one of the ladies had ordered a Calzone....and it never came until all the rest of us were done with our meals!! The waitress kept saying...oh it will be right out...she finally gave the lady a free bowl of clam chowder...but when her food still hadn't come out one of the guy's in our group told the waitress that she needed to send the manager out....he finally did come out & comped her meal...but they wouldn't have if the guy hadn't spoke up for her...she ended up just getting it to go..it's a shame cause the food is pretty good...but they really should have put 2 people to wait on a group that big...plus they never brought any bread for our table...last time we had like 3 baskets of it...oh well...at least I have left overs for tomorrow night...
