When we were first married, we received a set of 12 drinking glasses from my mother-in-law. These had been gifted to her at some time... perhaps in the early '70s ... as each one had a sign of the Zodiac on it. DH and I tended to use the ones that had our own signs, so Gemini and Aquarius were the first to rub out. When we had guests, we asked for their signs so that the appropriate glasses could be used.

We still have our Corelle from those days, but those glasses are long gone. :)

bOb... we women want out own Delft Toilets too :(

Lisa when I first came to America I had a set of a German porcelain dishes.. OK OK.. I can not remember the name of them.. so please do not take me to task :grin

they were also paper thin and had a wheat stalk on them.. I loved them, and was really peeved when some time later a soap company over here by the name of DUZ offered cheap knockoffs of this pattern in their boxes of powder..

Well.. I should have bought them and saved them.. because years later, a set of them were worth a lot more to collectors than my "real" set :grin

Grey Poupon... remember the commercial.. "Pardon me but do you have any Grey Poupon"?
Picture this, we were on a friends boat sailing down the river.. my sis and bro in law were visiting..
He is a very Brit sounding brit.

So we were in the kitchen making lunch and barbara was out of mustard and we all started to tease her.
Van turned the boat towards the shore, and my bro leaned over the deck and said to a lady sat outside of a travel trailer... "Pardon me, do you have any Grey Poupon? " she started to laugh and her husband said.. in a Texas accent you could cut with a knife.. "no, but we got some Frenches" :lol :Lol

OK, you had to be there :grin

Judi.. Darn it!!! nope! I knew my life was a cultural wasteland.. I don't suppose an unopened can of "Billie Beer" will atone will it ?

AGHHHHHHH!!! OK.. I am switching to paper plates to simplify my life.... Suer, could you please send two more "Wegmans" mugs so I have a 4 place setting?? :grin

Hey red I can come up with a can of Billy Beer too. Just realized at breakfast Paws choice of pottery is blue and white so used to seeing had not thought abt it. I too wish I had taken Grannys wheat dishes(courtesy of Duz) rather than the set I received. Suer tell you story please.

Suer,

Don't send Red the mugs. Let her do like we do here. Pass around the two you have.
