Who the #e$$ cares what the name of it is????

Oh wait, obviously someone does! :grin

Seriously, I live in the land of Lenox. Most everyone knows what that is, yet I've often heard people in stores exclaim, "Oh look at that pretty ivory china pattern." I don't feel any obligation to tell them, "That ivory china is Lenox."

I'm one of those who would have had no clue... but are the tiles in Maasdam's show lounge Delft as well?

red, I love your tableware. In the Lisa63 household, we dine off Corelle. :lol Seriously. I need to get a proper tea set one of these days.

Thanks, Judi. Guess we go to the beat of the same drum as who gives a hoot in hell the name of a china pattern. Must be hard to think "I" am the only one with any class. :lol :lol

Lover of Lenox also.

See you found the post Judi. Delft has always been a favorite of mine. I have a few pieces I picked up in Holland 20 years ago. I also have many pieces of just blue and white pottery around the house which we enjoy. I really look forward to my next HAL cruise been studying the broshures here.. It will not be as much fun because I am afraid all you will not be with us. Mexican Reviera anyone?

Dont come to my house guys you might get styrofoam containers or black Wegmans containers and if I am real ambious chinette. :lol DH uses my Lennox to store his plumbing fittings. We too enjoyed sailing with everyone. The highlight of the cruise, the friendships.

You sure did Lisa :lol But you were still with us in spirit as I think it is safe to say everyone had a great time looking at the china trying to find where that bear was located.

Just take note Lisa63 as I can ALMOST guarantee there shall be another. I ALWAYS make sure MY Spaghetti O's are served on ONLY Royal Crown Derby. :grin

.

Hi guys :lol

Lisa, I am like maw.. I have a few pieces of it, and not a whole set ..

I would show you a photo of my favorite stuff... make that china.. :grin but I think that you lot would tear me apart :lol

I was getting real tired of the whole conversation... and have some advice for those of you that want only the most detailed accounts of everything... DO not read my posts! I often shortcut words and descriptions, especially when I think it does not amount to a hill of beans for the reader :grin

maw... a Mexico trip??
Lisa, we hope that you join us real soon
Suer... do not knock the Wegmans.... the mug you gave me kept my tea hot while I transported it up on deck each day.....

I never heard of Delft until we saw a store by that name in St. Martin.

Suer, at my house now only do we use styrofoam, but we also clean it and reuse it. :grin

Maw,

If you're interested in the Mexican Riviera and can spare 10 days instead of the usual 7, may I urge you to look into Ryndam's 10-day combination Sea of Cortez/Mexican Riviera itinerary? The Sea of Cortez is a lovely, tranquil area...and if you go at the right time of year, it's one of the world's most fertile breeding grounds for marine wildlife.

Ryndam is one of Maasdam's newer sisterships, and she has just undergone a major refit.

marc, you reminded me of a funny true story.

I'm sure most all of you are familiar with the colored plastic plates and bowls. My Mother-in-law, God rest her soul, insisted on putting them in the dishwasher and re-using them. It wasn't like they needed to economize or anything...in fact, none of us could figure out why she did it.

The evening of the day she died, my Sister-in-law and I were setting the table for dinner. I reached into the cupboard and pulled out the plates. BJ, my S-I-L and I both exclaimed at the same time, "And we don't have to wash them." We both fell on the floor in fits of laughter.

It certainly gave us all a tickle that we badly needed that evening. :)

Mary Ann and Red that is just what I have been looking at today. we all know Paw is not a beach person . He has abt had his fill of Caribean cruises. He really liked the Maasdam size. He looked at the mailing we had from HAL yesterday and spotted the Ryndam and Mexican Rivera
Sea of Cortez cruise. What I can hardly believe he is also mentioning that fly word. Think driving these long distances is starting to wear on him. We will still be going in February no fear but next one may be different.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.........Fancy blue and white pottery!

Sounds like something a 300 pound bald guy in a tee shirt smoking a cigar, while posting on the board would eat out of! :grin

ROTFLMAO :grin and with his spare cigar tucked in the rolled up sleeve of his tee shirt

Maw - I really think you and Paw would love the itinerary and the ship if you can convince Paw to get to San Diego "some" way. ;) San Diego is a delightfully easy port to sail from/to.

Those of us who subsequently formed the infamous "Duck Crew" sailed the Sea of Cortez on Ryndam two years ago, and absolutely loved it.

Good luck - hope you and Paw decide on taking the Ryndam. The Oosterdam's 7-night itinerary that includes one port in the Sea of Cortez, IMHO, is not as good as Ryndam's itinerary.

Judi.. for when you get back to read this..
Your story reminded me of something that happened a long time ago.

My dear ex mum in law was having a get together when we came to visit.. They held it in a hall that had a kitchen.
Well these Southern ladies had more food than you can imagine.. and a lot of them used the large white plastic trays that meats were packaged in to hold a lot of this. After the feast they were all in the kitchen washing up.. I see this large stack of assorted plastic and Styrofoam stuff, plus plastic cups.. and I pitch it in the nearest garbage bin.
a few moments later I am walking back there with some more stuff in my hands and all heck is breaking loose in there. With these ladies digging in the bin, saying.. "that one is mine.. no, this is yours".. and demanding to know how they all got thrown away.. Needless to say I kept my mouth shut and left the room :grin and let them sort it out.
I did not know you actually kept that stuff :lol

Now maw I know the REAL reason for wanting to go on that Mex cruise is the Dos Equis so just tell him E will make sure they have enough on the CL@SS to keep his bucket FULL for the entire 10 Days. :grin

Reusing Styrofoam trays?? That's like.. ICK! I can see cleaning plastic but not that. ew..

I have no idea what Delft is.. I've seen lots of blue and white china but to me it all looks the same. I recently was cleaning out my parent's home and found quite a few tea cups and saucers. It looked like my mom must have been a collector. Maybe I can send you some of the images Red and you could tell me what they are if anything.

So the Mexican Riveria is next on the list Maw? I can understand wanting the change of pace. After the Mosaic it's going to be something different. I haven't been through the Panama Canal yet so maybe 2006. Not sure about booking HAL again though. It will be the best priced cruise since I found HAL is no different really than the other lines I've sailed. If they are the best deal - fine.. if not.. Celebrity, RCCL, Carnival, NCL, Princess and whatever else can offer a good itenerary. Silverseas has a wonderful Canadian/Eastern Shoreline cruise. Thing is.. it's a bit beyond my price range..
