Re: Weekend Open House - Part 2

Charles...the terrors are Sergeant and Skye and I call them terrors because they are Yorkshire Terriers. The youngest and the largest of the two really does terrify people because he barks so! He never did this until he was attacked by a German Shepherd who was not leashed! We almost lost him....the puncture wound in his neck missed his carotid artery by about 1/16 of an inch! The oldest and smallest, Sergeant, is the most gentle little creature in this world...a perfect little gentleman who loves everyone. Just like people they come in all shapes, sizes and temperaments. Sergie is definitely like Mary Ann in nature...not like me!

The photo of the bouquet is just a small part of the lovely arrangement sent to me by Mary Ann. They are beautiful flowers aren't they! Just like the lady who sent them.

Reggae thank you for your lovely story. You asked, "Mary Ann had this uncanny way of making each of us feel like we were truly one of her very special friends...don't know how she pulled that off? " She managed to pull it off because she was not trying to put one over on any of us. She truly was interested and she truly did care! Mystery solved!

I'll have a Lava Flow now...after all we are in Hawaii!

Re: Weekend Open House - Part 2

HI to Sergeant and Skye! I'm sorry I forgot your names. It looks like I need to create a playbook to host an open house.

OK Beryl, and Lava Flow is coming right up. (I need to look up how to make it. Not a problem though!) Hey, that sounds great!

A great diagnosis on Mary Ann. But a Very Unique personal trait. A very special person in many, many ways

Charles, it's from our Volendam Canal cruise in 2004 from Ft. Lauderdale to San Francisco. We renewed our vows on that cruise. This is a picture of the entire "Family." so hard to realize that three people in that picture have passed away. :(

Thanks Judi. 3 people? Bruce, Mary Ann, and ? Were they on C@? I'm trying to remember the Chicken stories I heard. Can't remember the 3rd.

Bread, Timber and I are back for an afternoon drink and chat. I think a Captain Morgan and Diet Pepsi will fit the bill.

I spent some time today reminiscing over the photos from our Duck Cruise to Alaska. Found another picture of Mary Ann. This one of her posing near the palm tree in Alaska. Duck IMG_0619.jpg

This was from our 'morning glacier viewing from her balcony in our jammies' party. What a blast!'

CHEERS!

Charles,

The third person was Pat, in the picture he was just left and slightly behind Mary Ann.

Left to right in the picture were: Ken, Chief Electrician , Sharon (Bruce's wife) Bruce, Jan (Pat's wife), Pat, Mary Ann, Michael (Mal D), Judi
me, Sheryl, Charly, Kassie (Ken's wife, also excursion manager), and I will have to draw a blank here but the two on the end are the
hotel manager and his wife, I can only remember that his name was Hans.
I will have to defer to Judi to remember her name.

Re: Weekend Open House - Part 2

Thank you, Charles, but I'm still thirsty...
Time for my regular Sunday Silja Special, please! Oh, make it 3 and not 2 this time.

Does anyone else have the same feeling, that it was almost like this forum was a part of Mary Ann's living room?
She always noticed a new post and could give you an answer, a "pat on the shoulder", a "good done" or a funny comment. If you didn't see a "Shipmaven" post for a day (or just for a couple of hours) you started to wonder if she was out of town.
As I have said before, I will miss her posts here but I know there are so many other great C@'s out there, so I'm sure this forum will continue to be the place to visit every day.

Now over to my 3 Silja Specials.

The first one is a toast for all great C@'s!
The second one is a toast for Charles for hosting the Open House this weekend!
The third one is a toast for Mary Ann!
:cheer:

I love telling stories grandpa!
Easter last year my mama left me in jail (aka boarded at the vet) so she could go to NJ. I sent out a SOS on Facebook and Pucci's mama said he was on his way to spring me! He was following the Easter Bunny to find me. The he showed up at my door! Well, not the real Pucci but Pucci 3.0 (in the pic with me). He brought 2 bunny friends with to save me. I call him Pucci 3.0 because Auntie Mary Ann has the origianl Pucci, my grandpa got Pucci 2.0 when he was in the hospital so Pucci 3.0 was sent to rescue me!

Re: Weekend Open House - Part 2

This seems to be a good time to end my part in this. Mary Ann is a singular person. I've not encountered anyone quite her. Kind, Generous, Loving, etc. Yes, I and my family have received kindnesses from her. But what sticks out in our mind are two things. First, YOU are the most important person to her. And, second, her unselfish giving of herself to whatever issues we are dealing with.

Thank you Pucci for your generous gifts. Thank you Mary Ann for sharing yourself and being with us.

I will be popping in now and then tonight. And then again tomorrow. Good night all.

Thank all of you for coming, sharing, and providing comfort and support to all of us.

Re: Weekend Open House - Part 2

Thank you Charles!

It's now past 1 AM here in Sweden and I just realized that I have to go to work in five and a half hour so I'd better get some sleep, even if I would like to stay here all night.

Again, thank you Charles for hosting the Open House in honor of Mary Ann!
I have learnt a lot about Mary Ann and I now understand what a remarkable woman she was!

Mary Ann, I hope the sea is calm where you are now. Thank you for being my friend!
