Forever Remembered
The couple of times I've been to Bermuda as a port of call on a longer cruise, we've always been docked way out at King's Wharf. I'm so happy that we'll be docked IN St. George's and IN Hamilton.

I can toss this out for now...

Sun. May 29 - Dep. Manhattan Cruise Terminal 5:00pm
Mon. May 30 - At Sea
Tue. May 31 - Arr. St. George's, Bermuda 8:00am
Wed. Jun 01 - Dep. St. George's 2:00pm
Wed. Jun 01 - Arr. Hamilton, Bermuda 4:00pm
Thu. Jun 02 - Hamilton
Fri. Jun 03 - Dep. Hamilton 2:00pm
Sat. Jun 04 - At Sea
Sun. Jun 05 - Arr. Manhattan Cruise Terminal 7:00am

We all need to win the lottery so we can book the duck cruise and all the group cruise for the next few years. That would be fun but a dream for some.

Jeanie - May 2011 is a long way off, and allows quite awhile for for all of us to budget and stash $$ away. Perhaps if your move works out, you and Rick might find a way to become a D.I.T. (Duck In Training) and graduate to Duck status along with the rest of the wacky crew.

Jeanie, you and Rick'll make wonderful DITs! The In-Duck-Tion process is not overly complicated. I mean, for Heaven's sake, if Globug can make it through .... anyone can!

After having tasted the suite life on the last cruise. I will be interested in knowing how much it will be . I see that there are not too many suites on the Veendam. but as you said, its a long way off
maybe it could happen.

Calgon,

The last time I checked, the US and Bermudian dollar were at a par.

The rum swizzles are expensive, but in our estimation, well worth it. It's not a drink for everyone, but we like it. As a matter of fact, we sent the makings out to Vegas one year for a vacation with bOB and Sheryl and other Friends of ours. And Mama Duck, bless her heart, allowed us to use her hotel suite in Los Angeles one time to make several batches! :)

You mean when two individuals who'll remain unnamed quickly redecorated the accommodations by moving furniture around while you were in the bathroom?

Earl - Veendam is the last (newest) in the S-Class series (Statendam, Maasdam, Ryndam and Veendam), smaller than the Vista Class on which you just sailed. Other than the PS (Penthouse Suite), there is only one category of Deluxe Verandah Suites that have access to the Neptune Lounge - Category S.

Sounds like a thought, we can be on the back burner for 2011

Just keep it in mind, Jeanie. Right now, you have a lot on your plate with selling the house, moving, etc.

Lisa - we'll look forward to seeing you in Manhattan. Jim and Val, hope you can join us. Hope you bought FCD's on Westerdam!

We will most definitely keep an eye on this Mary Ann and if the stars align correctly we might just be onboard as this is one Island that starts with a B that Val has NOT been to yet. We do indeed have a FCD but I bet it will NOT last til May 2011 so we might have to just pick up another just in case as one can NEVER have enough FCD's. :boogie:

We would be delighted to have you and Val join us again, Jim! I'm certain that Judi and Mal will be like Pied Pipers leading us to the Swizzle Inn!

For those who know the original S-Class design, the "new" Veendam offers a good number of aft-facing balcony cabins now as well as the Lanai cabins that the original configuration didn't offer. :)

I have notice that at a few ports the Casino on board is open while in port, In Bermuda is the Casino open or close. and are there Casinos in Bermuda.

Best I can find out about gambling in Bermuda is:

Government levies a tax on all betting. It is officially frowned on but unofficially sanctioned and encouraged. Some want to see Bermuda become an open gambling center. There are numerous other forms of gambling which do not use the gaming machines. Locals and visitors can gamble openly on bingo, raffles, in licensed premises on horse races, British soccer pools, American and United Kingdom horse racing and greyhound racing, American football, Crown and Anchor at cricket games and elsewhere, floating poker games. During the NFL season, it is estimated that more than $350,000 is bet on teams.

Gambling on cruise-ships on Bermuda ports: not allowed. An attempt to allow it in 2009 was defeated by the Bermuda parliament.

To the best of my knowledge, the casinos aboard are closed while we're in Bermuda. But I'm trying to obtain more information.

The bars/lounges aboard remain open.

We are in port for almost 4 days, Hal must be taking a big loss in gambling revenue if the Casino is close. They must be making up the money some where else.

Earl - all ships on a Bermuda itinerary must comply with the same regulations. So it isn't only HAL if, indeed, the casinos must remain closed.
