CODE RED -

Sounds ominous, doesn't it? First time cruisers will be pleased to know that it doesn't mean that we're under attack, even though The Ducks are onboard!.

Sounds like a color wheel here, but those first 48-72 hours actually are called CODE ORANGE unless there were a full-blown outbreak which then is known as CODE RED.

Some are booked at HAL's hotel - Sheraton New York & Towers. That will include transfers and luggage handling from airport to hotel, hotel to ship. I believe some are staying at various Marriott properties in Manhattan and near the airports, and others have chosen various accommodations near the NY airports. There's no single consensus.

Since I see some new names here (welcome to the Roll Call), I would remind those who haven't yet decided about their pre-cruise hotel that it will be Fleet Week in New York, so rates tend to be higher and accommodations in Manhattan harder to come by.

Quack - Quack !

Apparently, my screwed up sleep schedule has managed to mainfest itself (again). When I posted that, I must have had the two CODE REDs (smoke/fire alarms) which occurred at my hospital the previous shift, on my little pea brain. My appologies ...

Mama Duck is so correct on this. We will indeed be in CODE ORANGE the first two days.

Another fine example of a CODE CALGON.

OK, going back to sleep now ...

I'm already breaking my doctor's advice about not working late, but for those who haven't already paid in full, please check your email tonight/tomorrow. You'll find your Final Payment "love note" therein.

Double-check everything, please, and let me know if you find any discrepancies, especially spellings of names. Those who booked later on may not necessarily find their requested dining on the Notices sent tonight, but I'll be doing my best to have your requests honored once final payments are in and I have exact numbers for dining charts.

While I have lots of notes in this thread to read and catch up on during my absence, a gentle reminder that - as with any group - only those booked through the official Agency are invited to participate in group-sponsored activities such as the Sailaway cocktail party, private Pinnacle Grill lunch and private deck party in Hamilton. Thank you.

And, again, a sincere :thankyou: for all your good wishes. They are very much appreciated!

Totaly understandable! A lot of work goes into these plans and I am sure all of you need this time to play catch up. I think it's great that you take such good care of your "Ducks", and should I see a future cruise you are planning that we can take you can be sure we will give you a call. It is wonderful to have a travel agent who is a friend also. Susan

That's very sweet of you to say, Susan. Thank you. I'll certainly look forward to meeting you and seeing you around the ship.

On goose, the bill is usually built up, i.e. - has a higher ridge, often extending up between the eyes, is more pointed and they have teeth!. Ducks tend to have flatter bills and the ridge is not as pronounced and no teeth.

Many ducks have a distinct upswing to the tail feathers (i.e. - a "duck-tail"); whereas evil gooses don't.

Ugh! This entire campus is covered with Canada goose $#!T. It's really a mess.

And the way the saunter across the road and expect you to stop for them. Call me mean, but I keep right on going, albeit at a crawl, and they get out of the way in a hurry. I've never hit one yet, either!

Judi, I have to agree with you about the Canadian geese. They are a real pain here also. The mess that they leave behind is unreal.
It is a law here that we must stop for the geese if they are blocking the road, grrrrrrrr While I would never hit one (I love all animals)
it is very frustrating to have to stop and wait for them to take their time crossing the road when you are in a hurry, lol

I like CODE ORANGE a lot better than CODE RED!

Hmmm...I thought I deleted this! The statement definitely didn't work out as I had planned...however, I do stand by my original sentiment. Lets hope for NO "code red" situations of any sort when we cruise!
