I hear the mosquitoes don't weigh 60 lbs. until AFTER they have bitten you. Then you weigh 60 lbs less. It's a good deal for everyone.
Ha ha. Yeah, that's about as big as I heard they were. I think they take them down by shooting at them from helicopters.

Well, maybe one of these years the City of San Francisco will get off it's collective butt, see what other cities are doing, stop playing games and will decide to join the 21st Century. Either that, or we may see the Port of Oakland or San Jose take over as the cruise port for the area. Hmmmm. Might not be a bad idea. Both are nice cities and both have good airports and rail treminals ...

Wake Up San Francisco, before it's too late and you find yourself shunted off to the side while others pass you by ... and take their dollars with them!

Been there, done that.and it's still worth my collective hide hauling out to the West Coast, and getting on another @ddicts group sailing!!.. not my favorite flying pattern =eek WEST!! . but we have to to go Home to Colorado so it's what we have..
but I am so excited by the time we get to "a cruise terminal" I could care if it's a BARN!!, and since my folks own a "Farm" and have critters.. I can honestly say I'd do it to get on a ship!!..=shrug..Joanne

Except that SF and OAK aren't attractions in themselves. People would still arrive early, stay in SF, enjoy the city, then have to find some way to get their luggage and themselves over the Bay Bridge to Oakland. But Oakland DOES have a can do attitude, and would go out of their way to make themselves that sort of city.

And the port of San Jose??? Where is that? Santa Cruz? It's way inland! LOL! No, SF needs to get it's stuff together and make it happen. Now... Sausalito would make a great cruise terminal. And Larkspur already has the ferry terminal, which is rather nice...

I still liked the port in San Fransico better than the one in Seattle. Traffic was a bit of a mess, and it was a long walk, but it was still better than the rattle trap mess in Seattle. At least Seattle has the room to improve their existing site. Now if they ever do . . . . . .

Quack Quack--My major problem with San Francisco is that airport-we were misdirected several times and I think we toured the airport several times. Felt sorry for the girls with all the lugage to move around at least we did have the scooters. Actually the airport and boarding went much smoother in Seattle. One of the easiest for Paw and I .

I did enjoy scootering around San Francisco and the water front and am looking forward to that again.

I certainly getting a collection of cute ducks here on my desk and table--You all would laugh if you heard it somedays just for fun Paw and I get them alll quacking at same times as we play the funny turkey and Lucy the Halloween witch. Wild. Maybe we are just getting geared up for the laugh filled cruise. Quack Quack

Just goes to show you how addled my brain was by my time as a teenager in "The Hash-Berry". I honestly thought San Jose was on the waterfront of the southern end of the bay. Didn't realize how far inland it was. Hmmmmmmmm. Maybe I should have looked at a map before I spoke typed.

With permission, I'll revise my posting to say, Sausalito, Oakland, Berkley, Alameda, et.al. Basically, any good port with a decent airport can give The City a run for the money ....

In a way, the "port" of San Francisco reminds me of the "port" of Manhattan. The docks in Manhattan were a disgraceful MESS, and although they've been spruced up somewhat, they're still little more than glorified warehouses. Transportation from the piers in Manhattan can be a nightmare if more than one ship is in. Pity that San Francisco falls in the same category.

Two cities that offer so much to sightseers in so many ways, yet both (San Francisco particularly) lag behind in their seaport facilities.

I think one of the big problems with the SF port area is that the one waterfront street REALLY becomes HIGHLY congested when a ship is in port, as some of you may have noticed. We sailed with a SFPD in May, and he was able to give us some heads up on different things that were expected (I believe there was some construction on the facade of Port 35 at the time). Pier 27 is worse, they want you to pull into a small parking lot, get out of the vehicle FAST, and move move move to the side so the next cars can come in. It's crazy. Hopefully, we'll be at Pier 35.

Good morning Ducks and DITs, I must say that warehouse at the pier was on the cold side, especially if you have to wait to get on board.

Happy Halloween -

Two brooms were hanging in the closet and after a while they got to know each other so well, they decided to get married.

One broom was, of course, the bride broom, the other the groom broom.

The bride broom looked very beautiful in her white dress. The groom broom was handsome and suave in his tuxedo. The wedding was lovely.

After the wedding, at the wedding dinner, the bride-broom leaned over and said to the groom-broom, "I think I am going to have a little whisk broom!"

"IMPOSSIBLE !" said the groom broom.

Are you ready for this?

Brace yourself; this is going to hurt! !! !! !

"WE HAVEN'T EVEN SWEPT TOGETHER!"

............ ............ ..............

Sounds to me like she's ...........been .........sweeping around!!!

I would think that Suer would have an unfair advantage ....

Remember quackers .... It's not speed or acuracy , but technique that makes the difference!!!!

Good morning, Ducks, Ducklings and DITs, from central Joisey where it's a partly sunny 44 degrees.

I got a call first thing this morning that my Niece and my Brother-in-law took my Sister to the hospital last night because her blood presssure was spiking. They want to keep her, but they don't have any rooms so she's still in the E. R. Hopefully, it's something they'll be able to regulate with medication.

Hope everyone has a nice & safe day! :thumb :thumb
