Thanks Jeff for today's review. Nice to see the Royal from a "different" view, even though I was on her 3 weeks before Tobyn, Barb, Judi, and Mal sailed on her.

Great photos! I also have some of Royal Princess and Carnival Splendor together (in Boston), yet they are bow-to-stern. I like yours more.

Loving the recap!

After we sailed, I made my way back to the cabin to get ready for my dinner at the Pinnacle Steakhouse at 6:30. When I got there my laundry was back.....

The entree presentation.....

CS794.JPG

My starter, the Portobello mushrooms. I had two orders of these.....

CS795.JPG

Followed by a Caesar salad, prepared tableside.....

CS796.JPG

For my entree, I chose the spice rubbed rib eye, cooked medium.....

CS797.JPG

And for dessert, I had the caramelized Washington apples.....

CS798.JPG

I have to say, that initially I was uncomfortable coming to the steakhouse by myself, but the staff made me feel very comfortable, and minimized the wait time between courses. I think I was done with my dinner in less than an hour and a half.

Tonight's show in the Spectacular Lounge was Vroom, which I had seen before many times. I chose to go to the casino and play some $25 blackjack. I didn't fare so well. I was back in my cabin around midnight. Tonight's turn down service.....

Coming up next: St. Maarten, our final port of call, and the last full day on the Splendor.

Gr8 read Jamman!!! It makes me want to head south right now in anticipation for that next walk up the gangway. Only wish it was today but it will not be to long hopefully. :spyglass:

Thanks Erik!! I will be finishing the St. Kitts segment tonight, then I'll be doing my Antigua segment, some of which I showed on my Addicts meet in Antigua thread, then will come St. Maarten.

I highly recommend the Helmet Dive at Coral World in St. Thomas. If you want to revisit those pictures, they are in my Carnival Dream album.

Thank you for another set of great photos and interesting stories from St Kitts and Antigua, especially from your C@ mini meet!
Looking forward to St Maarten!

I looked in your Dream-album. It looks so cool to do the helmet dive! I have to convince Lennart to do this on our next Caribbean cruise!
Do you know abut how deep you were going? That can be good to know for buying the right waterproof camera as they have different specs regarding maximum depth.

Erik, if I remember correctly, the maximum depth was 20 feet.

.
Welcome to St. Maarten!!!

Happy Halloween!!!

I was up at 7am to watch our arrival to the island of St. Maarten. Today is our last full day on the Carnival Splendor for this cruise. I much prefer that the last day on board be a sea day, but it is what it is. I stepped out onto the balcony, and got these shots as we approached St. Maarten…..

We are approaching the piers in Phillipsburg, which is on the Dutch side of St. Maarten…..

We will be docking at the longer pier.....

CS813.JPG

Once again, we will be the only ship in port today, so the Captain has elected to spin around and back into our berth.....

We are docked. Here is the view from the bow camera, as seen on my cabin television.....

CS820.JPG

I made my way up to the Lido Deck, and decided to have a light, (for me), continental breakfast.....

I made my way back to my cabin to grab my beach bag. The plan was to meet the roll call beach bums at the Lobby Bar. As I waited for somebody to show up, I took a couple of shots of Guest Services, and the Atrium elevators.....

Jeff i just wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank you, for the time and effort you take to provide us with such detailed reviews. they are so thorough and well written i can so imagine being on the ship just by your reviews... again, thank you very much, for all you do. it is greatly appreciated.

St Maarten is one of my favorite Islands. Been there several times, but never grew tired of it.

It is a great island. We can always find something to do here.

Thank you for reading, and thanks for your kind words. Enjoy your upcoming cruise!!

I waited about twenty minutes, and none of the roll call beach bums showed up. Feeling like I was "stood up", I made my way to Deck 0 and the gangway. I later found out that the previous day in Antigua, the meeting time had been changed, and since I hadn't gone to the beach with them, and no one saw me later that day, I hadn't gotten the message. So today I am on my own. Time for me to leave the ship.....

Here is where you pick up the tours, and your taxis.....

CS846.JPG

I'm heading to Orient Beach. The taxi fare is $8 per person, each way.....

CS847.JPG

We're in the taxi, and on the way. They are still cleaning up from the hurricane two weeks prior. They lost a LOT of trees. At least they drive on the RIGHT side of the road.....

CS848.JPG

We have arrived at Bikini Beach on Orient Bay. The lack of palm trees at the top of the beach is very noticeable. Here is my view, looking up beach to my right.....

CS850.JPG

And this is my view looking down beach, to my left.....
