But, Mary Ann, isn't area code 870 for Arkansas? I'm sorry. I'm missing something here.

Charles - there's a difference between an area code (870 for AR) and a country code. 870 is now the universal INMARSAT country code (there used to be 4 ocean region codes, now all consolidated into 870). More correctly, here's how to dial Veendam:

011-870-600809876# (voice)
011-870-764567077# (voice)
011-870-764567081# (voice)

011-870-764538844# (fax)

But again, it is far easier and far cheaper to use your cell phones while in Bermuda as long as you have international access. If you've got a world phone (usually quad band), you can call your cell phone provider to request international service for a month - each provider has different rules. Just have your data service inactivated.

011 then 870 makes sense. I'll leave those numbers on the refrig for Margaret in case she needs to get a hold of me.

Thanks

Okay Duck Ladies I need your help!

As most of you know I am mostly housebound due to illness (but when you see me I don't "look" sick) so my clothes are all of the seriously casual sort. I have some nice capri's, polo shirts, skirts but not alot of "dressy" clothing.

On Princess I can pass and look appropriately dressed but I am worrying that on HAL I will be that woman who is not dressed appropriately! I am probably over thinking this and I mistakenly started reading about this topic online :bang: so can you help me?

So for those of you who have experience with HAL (we have done two previous cruises on HAL) can you tell me what to expect in the evenings at dinner? And if we should go to the Lido for dinner is okay to be more casually attired? How dressy is formal night for the women and can I get away with a long skirt w a dressy top?

:thankyou::thankyou: I am sorry if I am being nervous over nothing.

Thanks Beryl! I will pack my "Princess" outfits and we'll be twins on this cruise!

Can't wait to be on board again!

Are you getting excited too?

Thanks Lisa - I knew you would have the answer and I feel better now. Just a momentary panic that I would be "that woman" that set the cruise talking. LOL.

Beryl - Always so much to do right beforehand and I always start stressing about things (like clothes...:bang:). I read that review and did you see the pictures of their cabin? OMG. I can only imagine what that would be like. I showed the pictures to Marty and he remarked "You'd never leave the cabin". He's right! I would be in that tub or on the balcony in one of those chairs the entire cruise I kid you not. Hmmmm that could solve my clothes dilemma....now to make Marty see that it makes financial sense....

Beryl, thanks for posting the link to Foxyterrier's blog. It was quite interesting.

Meg, this body hasn't seen a "fancy" outfit since the 70's, when I used to wear long skirts/gowns on formal nights. These days, it's pant suits. While they have a dressy flare to them, they're not formal by any stretch of the imagination!

I'm not sure how well you'll be able to see in this Family portrait, but I'm wearing a white tank with white pants and a lime green floral duster. That's about the most formal outfit I own.

Steve and I were out running some last minute errands this morning and heard the song "New York, New York" playing as we were checking out at Tuesday Morning. We turned to each other and just gave each other these huge grins, lol won't be long now!!

Meg, I am not bringing very dressy, dressy clothes this cruise as unfortunately I have some extra pounds now and refused to go out and spend lots of money on clothes as I have some very nice things that I plan on getting into for our next cruise. I am at the point now if someone doesn't like what I have on then that's their problem. I will not wear jeans or cargo pants into the dining room so I think that I will be okay.

Judi - A kindred soul! I am much relieved as I just don't have it in me to wear long gowns or god forbid heels! I have a long black skirt that is very comfortable and I wear black ballet slippers on the feet (less chance of me breaking my neck!). I am sure I will be fine now so I thank you! BTW You look very nice and that is a wonderful picture!

Janice - I am positive that you will look very nice and I thank you for assuaging my last minute fears. It's reading all the flaming posts complaining about people's attire on formal night - you would think after 25 cruises that I would know better but apparently not.:duh:

BTW I used to love shopping at Tuesday Morning! Isn't it fun when you hear or see something that let's you know your cruise is near? Love that!

:beach: <----what I plan to do this cruise - join me!

As far as formal night is are concern I have a long black skirt and two tops and I wear them on every cruise so if you be cruiseing with me in the next year that is what you will get. I did go out and got some new daytime outfits but I needed them and did not pay a lot for them.
I am getting excited and my family will be glad when I go all I talk about is the cruise and the ducks.
