I am going way back to my childhood and having bonless pork loin chops cooked in sauerkraut with dumplings (old German tradition I am told). Usually we have pork loin with mashers, blackeye peas and collards or kale. I waited to long and couldn't get any greens. Since it is just Bill and I for dinner this is easy. LOL just as I am typing this middle DD called to see what's for dinner if she and the kids could come out. Dahhh, I gotta know in advance....

This year it is left over beef stew. No one but Paw and I here. He made stew Sunday it was very good so sure can't let it go to waste. I may have to open that can of blackeyed peas all this talk of them making me hungry for. If they don't call ahead they are usually out of luck here everything is frozen but that meal we are planning.

Well I was going to make steaks but I felt like a little comfort food so we are having shepards pie. :lol :lol Far cry from steak but very delicious.

Denise you should have known better! :lol :lol The kids always think that something is cooking!

It all sounds good! Alf & I are going to Boston Pizza. And we will probably have the ribber and he will have green salad and I will have a ceaser salad.

Denise, we had the same as you except for the dumplings....we had riced Yukon Gold potatoes.....yummmmmmmm!!!!!!!

I'm glad to read you celebrate the same way. My Mother always made pork on New Years Day, as it was a "tradition!" Since her Mother was German, it would make sense! :thumb

We're having Spiral Ham, scalloped Potatoes, and Cloe Slaw. It's a traditiom from Connie's family.

We went to Red Lobster with sis and her dh. After dinner we went to the mall and goofed off for an hour or so.

Baked Ziti that I made a few weeks ago. Had it in the freezer. Had no meat balls though. :(

Oh my, not to toot my own horn :lol but the pork, kraut and dumplings turned out so good....really hit the spot! Guess that is because we don't have it often so it was soooo good. Now on to diet food, LOL.

Back on the low carb wagon here. Been off too long for the holidays.

We had hot wings, hot pepper cheese, salad with italian dressing and olives.

growing up , my mother would make a big Asian meal with wor dip har and roast duckling, all homemade; bok choy, rice. It was good.

As for us, Koolaid is just getting over a cold, so we just had Italian wedding soup. That was good.
:)
