It depends on what you like to do. I've been to all three. My very first cruise onboard the Jubliee was to the eastern. I was in college and it was a lot of fun. I'm not much of a shopper so basically just hung out at the beach in the bahamas, then hung around Charlotte Amalie in St. Thomas (Love St. Thomas) and did the horseback riding thing in Puerto Rico. The only place I would visit again would be St. Thomas which I did on my next cruise to the southern caribbean. On the Festivale, we took off from San Juan, which I don't think I ever want to visit again, and we went as far south as Barbados. Barbados was wonderful, we hired a taxi driver to take us around the island and then finished the day at the beach. Did the beach thing in Martinque and St. Marten/Sint Martin. On thing I didn't like about this cruise was there were way too many stops. We also stopped at Dominica and as I said earlier, St. Thomas. My third cruise on the Destiny was the western caribbean. We loved it so much we did the exact same itinerary on the Triumph (Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Ocho Rios). Love Grand Cayman. My perfect cruise would be to St. Thomas, Grand Cayman and Barbados.
I think all three itineraries are wonderful and there are places I love and places I don't care to visit again, San Juan and Jamaica just to name a few.
My question is, what about the Mexican Riviera? I haven't done that yet and I'm wondering if it's the same, better or worse than the caribbean. We're thinking of that for our next cruise in 2007, otherwise maybe the exoctic southern caribbean but i've heard "not so good" things about Belize and Costa Maya. However I would love to see the panama canal.
Any other thoughts?
