Veendam Ducks and DITs!!!

Thank you Everyone for the Quack-Quack welcome...we can't wait to board the Veendam and to finally move from being D.I.T.S to Ducks. Quack!!

QUACK - QUACK!!! We're starting to get ready ... Ducks and Ducklings are checking in; and we have new DITs signing up. It's been a great week and the thread is off to a strong start.

OK, with 561 days left, it's time to load up on the cross-country cargo hauler and head for the ship. Stopping, of course, at the duck supply houses to pick up the goodies for the cruise!

Good Saturday Morning to my fellow fowls and cruise mates!

An idea for your count down numbers: All navy ships have numbers on their bows. You can Google their numbers with their class designation before the number. DD 354, DE 354, CV, CG, etc.

I did a couple earlier ... Although I'm an Army type (retired), I think that may be very possible. Will start collecting photos for our countdown. Thanks.

You may already have this info.. but just in case you have not seen it..

For those interested in the Laina cabins. here is the link to the deck plans so you can find your cabin.

and a direct link to the photo of the actual cabin would not work, so this is from the Holland America site.
I found this interesting, as I had imagined large sliding glass doors like those on the balcony cabin and not a door. I wonder how wide the door is?

Well, Darlin', according to HAL's web site, they are sliding glass doors. Obviously, the drape is hiding the other side of it.

Doors would be totally inefficient and dangerous, given the fact they would open out onto the promenade deck. I can just imagine the law suits from people who would walk into them because they weren't paying attention! :duh: :duh:

QUACK - QUACK I'm gonna give Captain Weather's suggestion a try...

560 days to go .... Early debarkation is tried for the first time!

(boy, that looks like the cruise from hell!)

I know a few folks who got to Europe for the first time on those ships.

Good Sunday morning fellow fowls and cruise mates!

I have two goals for this trip beside unwinding and enjoying myself. First, although I've been to Bermuda 3 times, I've never been to one of their pink beaches! And, I want to explore the area around St. George. Perhaps a third goal----the Swizzle Inn.
