Can't you gentlemen show a little enthusiasm? QUACK

Just curious but can they still charges a fuel tax after final payment. i am surprise the cruise lines have not alll ready charge us . it is over a 100 dollars a barrel.

Earl, I've been on several cruises since they added that surcharge. And I don't remember them adding the fuel surcharge specifically. But I do remember them putting a charge on my shipboard account for something extra. And no, it wasn't for anything I drank or ate.

Earl - yes they can. HAL and Princess (two examples) reserve the right to add up to $9.00/day/person fuel surcharge if the price of sweet crude exceeds $70.00/barrel on the NYMEX. Other cruise lines quote other surcharges based on other criteria. With the exception of Cunard, I'm not aware of any of the Carnival companies reinstating the fuel surcharge as of this writing.

Another charge that can change, and be added automatically to your shipboard account, are the fees should they go up.

QUACK - QUACK

My bags are packed.

Now, SunFlower? Well, that's a wurk in progress.

"Nothing fits! They don't match! These shoes are the wrong color! So are those! That's out of style! Yadda-yadda-yadda ...":madd:

Yipee! Only 11 weeks to go! Can't wait to step out onto my balcony!! It has been since November 2008 since we last cruised and I am more than ready, lol

Yikes! I also forgot that we can't go to The Swizzle Inn on June 2!! So many things planned that I forgot : -(
How about June 1? I may have to ask my social director if we have anything for that night but I don't think that
we do. Sorry about the confusion everyone.

Sorry, to post this. I just got through reading where there is nothing set up yet. Guess this will teach me to read ALL posts before posting something : -)

Since so much information is scattered around through all the pages of this thread (thanks for most of it, Calgon), I'm not sure if the CITY PASS has been mentioned. This may be useful for those who don't have much time for sightseeing in New York City and want to cram in as much as possible...

New York Pass

Mama Duck

QUACK !

Thanks Mama Duck for the heads up on the New York City Pass. At first glance (like most, I went straight to the prices), it appeared to be a bit out of our price range. However, when considering that it also includes FREE admission to a number of tours and venues, fast tracking (line by-pass) and other discounts, it's begining to look like a distinct possibility.

Tuesday Nights in St George's -

At 7:30 p.m. a strange thing happens. The St. George’s Town Crier, elaborately attired, opens the evening. He ducks a nagging wench into the waters of the Harbor to mark this opening. This entertaining and light-hearted historical re-enactment shows how an offender was publicly punished in the 18th century.

Then you will see the arrival of the Gombey dancers. They begin their rhythmic traditional dance with drumming that pulls people magnetically into the square.

More live entertainment follows. Each week features different entertainment from steel bands to cultural dancers.

To add to this wonderfully festive evening, food vendors offer all sorts of goodies, homemade cookies, baked cakes and good old fashioned snowballs.

One of the charming flavors of the Market Night is that you can have friendly chat with the vendors. They will tell you how they make stuff like codfish cakes, or ginger beer and what is so unique about Bermuda honey.

Quite often you will see vendors competing with their preparations of Bermuda Fish Chowder.

Try out some of the island specials like the local cassava pie, shark hash, fish cakes, loquat jam, bay grape jelly, codfish cakes, mussel pie or guava syllabub.

Children can make mock tattoos, or buy balloons or even go for face paintings. You will see replicas of the Stocks and Pillory at the square that were once used to punish petty criminals.

Wednesday Nights in Hamilton -

Harbor Nights celebrations take place on every Wednesday of the summer months (May through October) on Front Street of Hamilton Bermuda.

So what is Harbor Nights? Basically, Bermuda at its best. The front street in Hamilton gets closed to all vehicles after sunset. The shops and the restaurants remain open till late at night. And the street comes alive with sparkling lights and music.

Large number of vendors wearing colorful dresses sell various kinds of local arts and crafts. Many of them will be the local artists themselves who are generally willing to chat with you and explain their artwork and how they did it.

There will also be a number of food sellers selling different kinds of food - both Bermudian and ethnic.

And then comes the Gombey dancers with their lively music and rhythmic drumming. They are huge crowd pullers.

It's a great experience even if you just take a stroll along Front Street and enjoy the ambience of the Harbor nights.

People mix freely and talk to each other. This is a great family event and gives a wonderful insight into Bermudian culture.

If you plan to take your dinner at a Front Street restaurant on Harbor Night, make reservations and come early. Take one of the open balcony seats facing the road. We just love it. Check Bermuda Restaurants and find your choice of restaurant at Hamilton Front Street.

So, Harbor Nights at Hamilton Bermuda essentially features:

- On-street celebrations from 7 to 10 p.m.
- Shops are generally open until 9:00 p.m.
- You get to see Bermuda's local Arts and Crafts
- Live Music and Entertainment
- Food Court
- Lots of activities for Children in the Children's Court, including fun castles in all sizes, the ever-popular train, face painting, tattoos and hair braiding.
- You can see the Bermuda Regiment band, which marches down Front Street in full regimental apparel with pipes and drums.

Sorry, I can't wrap my mind around a friendly wench dunking, but I can't wait to see the Gombey dancers! Also, very much looking forward to the Hamilton street festival. ALSO also, very much looking forward to Bermuda!

A wenching we will go. A wenching we will go. Hi, ho, the deri-o; a wenching we will go ...

A wench. A wench. My kingdom for a wench. There, the sultry one, with the fire in her eyes. Fetch her to me!

(Where the is the GloBug when you need her ? And, what the heck is a "deri-o" anyway?)
