OK....What the Hell day is this? I heard that yesterday was Friday.

Should I ask K2? So what did you buy at the "Outlet"?

I was going to post this on the 1st of the month, but guess who forgot. OOPS.

Kathi did get the PINE BARK mulch out of my car yesterday, KC.

Well aren't you special BB. I thought only celebrities and high public officials had a person that held umbrellas over them.

I too am in favor of "vaccination passports", Lee, and mask wearing for all kids in school. I'm still amazed at the number of people that refuse a safe & effective vaccine, but will swallow a horse medication for worms to fight off Covid.

And that's about as gabby as I get this morning.

Good morning, gang. Time for a quick post this morning. Got lots to do around here today and hopefully, some time this afternoon we can escape to the Grille for an hour or so. That is, if the rains don't come. These days we just never know!

Dave - I had to hold the umbrella high enough over Bert's head so he could see where his was pushing me. Otherwise who knows where or what he might have pushed me into.

Gator game sucked. They won, but it was so boring that I fell asleep for almost the whole second half of the game. Our new quarterback came out strong, but lost his vibe come the second half. Good thing they have another "practice game" next week before they start the SEC season. There's a lot of heads that are going to be rolling once they start checking the film.

OK it's back to work now for me. If possible, I'll be back later. One way or another have an awesome day, everyone! :)

Yes, I verified it and TODAY is SUNDAY.

We finally made it to 80F here in Macomb, MI. With a light constant breeze.
Pat hope you have a good day. And I hope the rain holds off.
How is M & J’d house build coming along. Time for more pictures. Had Bert walked through it lately. I’d be there almost every day nosing around when the workers left.

Tell Missy this is a good time to take the kids inside with SHARPIE MARKERS and have them sign the wood studs on what may be their bedrooms! I bet they would get a real HOOT out of doing that.
Dave: Nice to know the mulch made it out of your car! Next you need to add some sand bags to make sure your car doesn’t side around in the Winter snow!

I mixed up some batter for Crepes. I want to make some later to take to my friend Elaine. It’s been a year since her hubby, Mike, passed away. Hard to believe how fast that year passed.

Lee/ Lu-Ann:
How are you to doing? Any word on your COVID numbers and things opening up any time soon.

Bill how is Rita doing? Please send me your NEW ADDRESS. THANKS.

Not sure what we are doing over here today or tomorrow. Jill invited us over today and I had to say we would PASS on the BBQ. They’re having one of Marks brothers & wife over too. I just don’t feel like doing the Chit Chat thing today. Art isn’t very happy with us NOT going. Oh well, I’d just like to chill out around the house.

You all have a nice day.

DAVE: I went into the Jockey outlet store and bought 2 pkgs of undies. That was about the nicest store up there. They have a good selection and I had a 30% off coupon and they had a Labor Day sale going on. I saved $14.50.
That OUTLET AT BIRCH RUN IS HORRIBLE. HALF OF THE STORES ARE CLOSED. It use to be my go to place when the Oneida store and Mikasa China store we’re still there. Sad to see it turn into a dump. I still have my dishes from Mikasa. They must be 35 years old and no chips. Just can’t part with them. Earthenware of good quality is hard to find these days.

Sure is a quiet day on here. I guess most people must be doing something for the holiday weekend and have no time to stop by and say hello.

I finally got everything finished that I wanted to get done today. Only things left to do are the last minute things that can't be done ahead of time - slicing onions and tomatoes for hamburgers and stuff like that. I am really beat now.

M&J decided they needed a date night and I agreed. I don't know when last they got to go out alone, so I was all for it. I asked the kids what they wanted for dinner and they told me they wanted ramen noodles! They even know how to make it for themselves, so I let them.

Bert's off to Publix. I can't believe with all that he bought for tomorrow, he never told me that we are almost out of hot dog rolls. I can only hope they still have some, byt I'm not counting on it.

Kathie - The only reason I haven't been posting new pictures or telling you about the progress on M&J's house is because nothing has been done for the past couple of weeks.
Building inspector showed up during the week and came up with a list of things that have to be reworked, including moving the toilet in the guest room over 5 inches. That means breaking up concrete to make the move. There was a long list of things to be corrected before they can get approval to move on. Now I see a Christmas & New Year's for them to still be here. Once they get into December, if the house gets finished, they have to find a reason to delay the closing because whatever year you move into a newly constructed house, you don't pay taxes that year! That will save them close to $4,000! Another quirky Florida law.

Time to shut the computer down for the night and go relax for a while. Have a great evening, everyone, and I'll see you tomorrow! :)

I’m not quite sure where today went. The day started off like normal and the next thing we knew we were on the shore of Lake Erie at our favourite winery! A fine day all around.
Kathie, I was sorry to hear that Birch Run has fallen even further into despair. A long way to go to be disappointed. Our numbers are rising again. 141 cases have been traced directly to weddings! Now there is a 100 person limit at weddings and funerals. No dancing at either event. School starts Tuesday so all of the little unvaccinated germ factories got together in class for the first time in months. I can see this spiking things too! Even though masks are required indoors.
No matter when you take possession of a home here your taxes are prorated Pat. Even one day in a month they grab a few bucks. I think the “revenuers” are represented by the lawyers at Dewey, Screwem and Howe. You need a clear umbrella for future outings.
I can’t believe that Canada’s Chief Medical Officer has had to issue warnings to Canadians to refrain from taking horse medication. I say let ‘em take the stuff. Helps to cull the herd Dave. E,W and F had it all! Great music, choreography and costumes.
Did you make it to church Karen?

Well that’s about it for now. You all have a fantastic evening and an outstanding Labour Day.

Lee: From our house it's a 1.5 hr drive to Birch Run. I won't be going there again any time soon.

You all have a fantastic Labor Day on Monday, Sept 6th! I think I got that right.

I made a batch of Crepes tonight. Had eggs that I wanted to use up and milk too. They turned out good.

Here's my parting post for tonight.

I'm still laughing over this one! Ha Ha.

Happy Labor Day Bunnies!

A day to honor and thank all those who labor for a living. (And not just those in labor unions.) Ya think that those small businesses, that we rely on and many people work for, get the benefits of those in unions?

Should be a warm and sunny day here. There will be an air show in Cleveland which is cool enough, but it will also feature the Air Force Thunderbirds.

Hot dog rolls BB? You do mean hot dog buns, don't you? If they can move into their new house shortly after New Years, that would be great. The sooner you get your house back the better. A $4,000 tax break would be wonderful.

Yes K2, Bill & Rita should send all of us their new address. China and fancy silverware are no longer valued that much anymore. That's a cool idea of sending the kids through the new house with Sharpies, to sign some studs. (As long as they don't get carried away.)
"I just don’t feel like doing the Chit Chat thing today." Don't know why but that sentence cracked me up.

Nothing planned for today. Yesterday we actually entered a store. Needed to get just a few things, including 3-way bulbs and a spare fence light. Naturally it meant walking from one end of the store to the other. From in to out turned into a 1/2 hour. Thank goodness for that shopping cart to help me along. All employees have returned to wearing masks as did many customers.

Just recently almost all schools near us have gone from not mandating them to now requiring mask wearing by students. Good call.

Good Monday morning to you all. We had a little rain last night but the day ahead is looking pretty good! Tomorrow the guessers are calling for a return of the humidity.
I looked at your cartoon Kathie and tried to determine if it was a man or woman driving. Obviously it was “Pop”.

sorry for the double part post... Brain fart…
Good Monday morning to you all. We had a little rain last night but the day ahead is looking pretty good! Tomorrow the guessers are calling for a return of the humidity.
Many of The Labour Day Parades have been cancelled this year. Just one more thing…
I looked at your cartoon Kathie and tried to determine if it was a man or woman driving. Obviously it was “Pop” so it was a man.
I think it’s good to get out now and again Dave. It would have been refreshing for you to see so many folks going back to masking. Buns or rolls, gravy or sauce, couch or sofa, soda or pop? We’re a mile apart across the river and sometimes it seems we speak different languages!
At the winery yesterday you had to have a mask when in line or inside. We were in our little bubble on the lawn.
Time for coffee and our morning walk.
You all have a fantastic and SAFE day, ya hear!

Labor Day Union GIF by INTO ACTION

Good LABOR DAY Morning Wrabbits! A bit of a chill in the air this morning at 61F, but like Dave said it's suppose to get warmer as the day goes on.

Art is on a long Bike Ride today instead of tomorrow. I basically have the day to myself. I might go for a drive along the waters edge. It's usually really quiet and empty on the streets today. Lot of people up North at their cottages closing things up for the season or at least getting ready to do that soon.

DAVE & Lee: I'm with you on the regarding HOT DOG BUNS and not ROLLS! Pat has us re-thinking the Spaghetti SAUCE vs GRAVY I don't need to add BUNS vs ROLLS for Hot Dogs.

Lee: I envy you being able to go to the wineries and sit outside and have a glass of wine. For us to do something like that we would have to go to Lee Landau and that would mean a stay over for sure. We use to be able to go to our friends (Marie & George's) condo and then buzz around to various wineries, but since they sold the place that's out. To stay anyway near that area would cost at least $225 and up for a night. That would be some expensive :emoticon 0122 itwasntme: wine tasting.

Karen: What are you up to these days girlfriend? Got any plans for today?

How has Scooter been lately? And last question.... did Jane get her pool back to a crystal clear look after all the rain? Hope you have a fun and easy going day planned today.

I'm out of here for now. Need to make myself a coffee and have one of those Crepes!
Have a safe and fun day folks. Did you hear that there's another variant of the Covid they are studying call....."MU". Where do they come up with these names?

Good morning! Happy Labor Day! I wonder how many times that is said in the maternity wards today?

Dave - Around here we call them hot dog ROLLS. Another regional thing just like Kathie's Door Wall as opposed to our calling it Sliding Door. It will always be gravy until you put something, be it meat or seafood, in it. Then it becomes sauce. And I'm sticking to that story! There's even a jarred spaghetti product made from Jersey tomatoes and it clearly says on the label that it TOMATO GRAVY!! I just can't justify buying it though, as a 24 oz. jar costs over $7.00 and I would use at least 3 jars to make anything for the family.

Kathie - Too bad you don't have any wineries near you. We have them all over now. Only problem is that Bert is not that big of a wine drinker and that would never be a destination he would go out of his way to get to. He likes to go to True Blue basically for their Ruben sandwich. The wine is just an add on. Love your cartoon. It really made me laugh!

Lee -Sounds like you had a nice day yesterday. Any day that ends at a winery is a good day! I never made it out of the house yesterday. Not even onto the lanai. Busy cooking and prepping for today. Did get to watch most of the FSU- Norte Dame football game last night. Love watching Notre Dame football and they were my favorite when we lived in NJ. Good for your chief medical officer to warn Canadians against taking that horse drug. My son, the republican insisted yesterday that that drug was actually developed for humans and it was never meant to be used for horses. He is such a faux news hound and between that and his wife, They will tell you every horror story about bad side effects from the vaccine. it's getting really hard to talk to him these days as he has all sorts of wacko opinions relating to the virus.

Well, that's about all I've got for this morning. Time for some coffee and take it easy before I have to get to work again. Have a wonderful Labor Day, no matter what you're doing, but remember to wear those masks. Stay safe, gang! :)

Just got a Surprise as I went through the Starbucks Drive-thru! The CAR in front of me paid for my coffee! How special is that! I asked what the car behind me ordered and it came to $9.58. I only had $5.25 on my phone so I passed on paying for their order.
I owe a pay back sometime soon!
Okay back to your regular programmed date!

I drove up to Marine City to catch up with Art and his Biking gang. The water is so beautiful today. I then drove to our favorite restaurant by the water and ordered a Bloody Mary and Calamari out on the Patio.
Life is good. Next stop Port Huron. Just a gorgeous day.

And then I got lucky to see a huge Freighter pass by. Life is good today! So glad I ventured out on my own today. Lucky to be INDEPENDENT! Tony would agree with that statement!

Good afternoon!! And Happy Labor Day....or as in my case...Happy No Labor Day....it's been pretty much a goof off day!!

Kathie, it's always such an awesome surprise when someone unexpected pays for your meal or beverage...Barb & I had that happen to us one time at Ihop....we have no clue who did it either...

Love the pictures....your narratives reminds me of Tony & his trip logs he always wrote....

Lee, sounds like a lovely way to spend the day...at a beautiful winery & your bubble.....and I seem to suffer from the same "where did the day go" syndrome....even when I have nothing much planned the day just seems to shoot by & next thing I know the day is over...

Pat, Hot Dog rolls must be a Jersey thing....we have dinner rolls...and hot dog buns in Ohio....
I never knew about not having to pay taxes on a new house before...but then...I've never had a brand new house before...nice that M&J will catch a break with that..

Dave, glad that Kathi got the Pine bark mulch out of your car...and now I understand why it didn't smell...had it been cypress mulch it would have smelled for sure!!
You asked the other day about how much Bacon was left? The answer...most of it...I package it up in small plastic containers & freeze most of it...then when I want bacon for breakfast or a BLT I just pull out a pack, let it thaw a little bit and Shazam! I got bacon...if I don't cook it all up it seems to get lost in the fridge and goes bad before I use it all...
Really enjoying our tiny drop in humidity here...it's still HOT...but you can definitely feel a change in the air....
No plans for the labor day holiday...Barb had to work & we had been together over the weekend so just skipped doing anything today...
Made another batch of Cranberry Scones...I don't think they are quite as good as the last ones...but they are still kind of addicting...especially while they are still warm...
Heating up some leftover Chicken tenders from our lunch Friday...along with some oven roasted carrots, potatoes, broccoli & mushrooms....starting to smell good in here...so I might better go check on things...enjoy the rest of the day all!

Oh fiddle-e-dee, our next door neighbor spent Labor Day closing up their pool for the year. (I sure don't miss all that pool maintenance.) Since it's an above ground pool and they don't have a heater they usually close it up early. Our cool nights now must make the water chilly. Overnight the air temperature went down into the mid 50's. Even though it'll be sunny and in the 80's today.

Hot dog rolls, tomato gravy, .... You New Jersey people sure talk funny, BB.
1f61b.png
It seems that all families have at least one member that gets their news and facts from social media and Facebook.

How cool to have some stranger pay for your coffee, K2. That calamari sure looks a lot like onion rings.

Lee; From your list of items I pick buns, sauce, couch, and pop. And it's a pocket door, not a door wall or sliding door. A sliding door is what most people have for bedroom closets.

Freezing extra bacon is a good idea, KC. I'll have to keep that in mind. Yes, it's good for you to just have a goof-off day every once in a while.

With yesterday being a holiday, the lawn crew should be here today and the trash picked up. A busy catch-up day for both of those businesses.

Good Morning! Sunny and a tad chilly, but the weather people say it will be warmer today. And then we get STRONG WINDS and possible rain later tonight. Well, at least it held off and folks that were doing picnics or "driving around" got to do just that! :)

Dave: I use to listen to that song all the time when it was popular. Brings back ALL kinds of memories of my youth! WOW....that sure was a long time ago.

Karen: Next time BACON is on SALE at our store I'm buying a couple of packages. I'll do it on a cookie rack (that you spray with NON Stick oil) and follow your idea of freezing it in small packages. Excellent TIP girl!

Today I plan on doing a couple loads of laundry and cleaning the bathrooms. I've already started by shaking the rugs and will wash them too. Hopefully, I can hang them over the deck railing to dry before the weather changes.

I'm dragging a tad this morning. I made a BIG mistake by having a coffee WAY TOO LATE last night and tossed and turned. The coffee tasted good at the time, but I should know better than to do that.

You all have a good day! Be back later.

Good morning, everyone!

Time for things to get back to normal around here - kids are in school, Bert slept late (again), and M&J are meeting with their construction supervisor to go over all the electrical work before drywall can be put in. Seeing as how there are so many things that need to be corrected and some of the electrical stuff the kids paid for that hasn't been done, there will not be any drywall going in for a long time. I also found out why they haven't got tiles for the roof yet. They chose to do gray stucco and gray toned stone outside. The mission tile roof that goes with that is also gray. Right now they aren't running the gray tiles wherever it's made, so that's something else they have to wait for.

Dave - Love that song. It brings back so many memories and they were mostly good ones! Here and in NJ a pocket door is one that when opened slides into the wall next to it and disappears. We had one in NJ between the kitchen and dining room. It was open while serving dinner, but then closed s we didn't have to see the mess in the kitchen. M&J are getting one in their bedroom that will give them direct access to the laundry room. The amount of laundry they generate, it will be well worth it.
By the way, Stephen Colbert is back from vacation tonight!!!

Karen - Glad you had a relaxing day yesterday. No party at the pool? Surprising considering how active your community is. There was a pool party here yesterday, but it turns into another kids' party with them playing games on the deck, a DJ and free ice pops (big deal!) while they last. The PRs take the whole pool over, so we didn't even consider going for their 11-2 party. Plus there was no alcohol and you can't bring your own.
That's a good idea you have for the bacon, but that wouldn't work in this house. If I make BLTs, I fry up half a pound at a clip and that's just for Bert & I. I also save the bacon fat to put in certain green veggies and to fry certain meets. Nothing involving bacon ever goes to waste in this house!

Kathie - Speaking of bacon, Missy made a huge pan of bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers that were a big hit yesterday. She used over a pound of bacon, so that gives you an idea how many we had. Bert had picked up a 5 lbs bag of jalapenos at Restaurant Depot the other day for less that $5. for the bag. Aside from making the poppers, she also sliced, cooked and put up to jars of sweet pickled jalapenos. I was amazed how much they cook down. We still have more, but I don't know what she'll do with them. She saved the seeds from the ones she used for the poppers for Bert to use in the garden next year. There's enough seeds there to do a small farms with them!! Your calamari looks delicious. My favorite ones are the tiny ones with the legs attached. I always grab them, if we get them as an appetizer. I leave the rest for everyone else.

Lee - So how did you and Lu-Ann spend your day yesterday? You must have done something, as you were very quiet after your early morning post. Whatever you did, I hope it was a good day.

No cooking for me today! We have enough salads left over from yesterday. I really wasn't crazy about my macaroni salad this time. Bert bought large elbow macaroni last time and I only use the normal size boxed elbows. These are so large, they overpower the sauce and the rest of the ingredients. I guess we'll keep it and use it for another day or two and then chock the rest. No great loss. I think I am going to have Bert go to Publix for their wings which are on sale this week for anyone who doesn't want a hotdog. That's the only meat left from last night.

Time for some coffee and to read the newspaper. Have a wonderful day today, no matter what you're doing. Just remember to stay safe! :)

8 Bell Drive, East Bridgewater, MA 02333 is our new address. Rita is making progress but it is a long road to complete recovery and we have a steady stream of visiting nurses, physical and occupational therapists etc each day. Lisa is able to give her the infusion of the antibiotic that is dealing with the infection that landed her in the hospital the last time and she has an appointment to see an infectious diseases specialist later this week. I have to see my pcp's physician's assistant on Friday to get a medical clearance for my cataract surgery later this month.
I had an unusual experience twice a few week's ago, something I have read about but never personally experienced. While Rita was in the rehab facility I went out to dinner and found a restaurant a few miles away that I had never before frequented. The place was not very busy but the prices were quite reasonable and the food was pretty good. When I was finished with my meal and the waitress removed my dishes, she returned to tell me that I didn't owe anything because someone had paid for my meal. I have no idea who it might have been. Two mornings later at my favorite breakfast place, my waitress came over to tell me that the person sitting at the next table had paid my bill. I thanked the person and tipped the waitress but I was flummoxed as to what had suddenly caused others to pay me this kindness. Suffice it to say I have been looking for an opportunity to pay it forward. I should mention that a few days prior to this happening I made a contribution to the ministry of one of our Willow Pond neighbors, who, while my kids and grandkids were helping me pack up and prepare everything for our move, gave Kevin a $100 bill to buy dinner for all of us, apologizing because she didn't cook and couldn't bring us something to eat while we were packing up.

NEGC: Thanks for the new address. Give our best to RITA. Tell her to fight like H*LL and get back on her feet. This just hasn't been her year at all.
Congrats on getting all those free meals. It's a nice feeling when people take notice of a " person sitting by themselves" in a restaurant. I think Art and I should start sitting at separate tables when we eat out and see if somebody will feel up to paying our bill. It is nice to give back.

Hope your doctor gives you the OKAY for your cataract surgery. It's a easy procedure, but those DARN DROPS are what can drive you nuts. All the best.
It's really nice that you've taken the time to check in with us. We really do care about each other and give the needed moral support we all can use at times.

It GOT HOT outside. I had to shut the windows and "Doorwall" (ha ha) and turn the A/C back on.

I have the kitchen floor washed and Art's bathroom. I'm thinking that the other 2 bathrooms will be on the list for tomorrow. I can only do so much and then I just stop! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

Stuffed peppers is on the dinner menu for us tonight. I've got everything on the kitchen counter ready to mix and chop and make them. Good thing I turned the A/C on. Once I turned that oven on it'll get hot in the kitchen for awhile.

Lee: What are you up to today? Grass cutting perhaps??

When I saw that huge freighter pass by yesterday I thought of you and how you get to see them all the time. Best MOVE you two ever made. Did your friends move into their house down the street from you? Can't remember his name.

Out of here again. Jill is suppose to stop by later with some Fresh Picked Raspberries for us. Nice treat for sure.
