Good Morning gang. Been up and sitting out on the deck watching nature. Birds and ducks right now.
It’s OVERCAST, but the humidity after LAST NIGHTS nice rain makes it feel rather damp.
Jill’s area got hit big time with flooding across the front of their lawns from sidewalk to sidewalk. She said in all the years they have lived there they never had that much flooding from such a intense rain. At least it remained outside and not in their basement.
Sun is starting to pop through the clouds here now.

My Snickerdoodle cookies turned out good. It’s all in knowing to take them out of the oven even though they still look under baked. They harden up while they cool.

I’ll try and get a picture of Art in his new Mustang Mach T-Shirt.

I saw our young neighbor looking at her NEW car in the driveway this morning. Looks like somebody must have backed into her side door. It smashed BOTH of the doors on the bottom. Art and I were just looking at the car YESTERDAY and wondering what model it was and what a nice car it was. She looked so sad looking and touching the car this morning. Bummer.

LEE: Feel free to use our address for your Disney 5K merchandise to get sent to us. We should be able to FLOAT IT ACROSS THE DETROIT RIVER to get it to you!

Karen….take care lifting those 50# bags of stones. Should have had a truck load delivered and used a wheel barrel to move them around. Ouch on your BACK.

Out of here for now. Take care.
I doubt that we will hear anything from our Wrabbit friends on the East Coast. Hope they are safe.
Later

I fear I have to clean my iPad screen. I was licking it trying to get at those cookies Kathie! They sure do look good. Thanks for the offer to use your address. Hopefully I’ll get us registered for the real race. We didn’t get a spot of rain in the night.
Been a busy guy already today. Lu-Ann walked Ava and I got the back yard cut. I usually don’t start yard work until 9:00 but the neighbours lights were on early so I fired up the battery lawn mower at 8:15.
Like you Dave, with the heat I don’t want to hit the wall and be down for the count. Two of The Greys we lost were well up in age. Mocha was not quite 10. My pancake / waffle preference really does depend on the kind of pancakes offered. Memorable pancakes were sweet potato with pecan syrup at Disney’s Riverside Hotel and macadamia with pineapple / macadamia syrup at The Outrigger Reef by The Beach in Oahu.
Overcast is often a bonus when it’s a hot day Karen. At least you didn’t say the rocks were “only” 50 pounds a bag!
My gosh Pat. Your leftover dinner would put most dinner’s to shame. We got pretty good at reheating Publix fried chicken. I hope I haven’t lost that skill!

I should run. Some tidying to do here. Jan and Dave are coming for a games day. They hope it will help take their minds off losing their Katie.
I’ll be back later on to see how everyone is doing.

Good morning, gang. Time for a quick post this morning. Just about time to head out of here to go to the imaging center at the hospital for my bone density scan. My pulmonologist wanted it done before I see him again this Thursday. So this is my doctor week.

I'll be back later. Have a great day, everyone! :)

Where's everyone been today? Just getting back here after a few things to get done. Bone density test was a breeze and hopefully, my doctor will have the results when I see him on Thursday.

Stopped at a friend's house for a glass of wine this afternoon and to say good bye to our friend who is heading for PA tomorrow until mid November. Penn State football season starts soon and they have tickets to all the home games each year.

Now we're back home after almost getting in accidents twice this afternoon due to people pulling out right in front of us with out even looking. Some drivers here are awful!! Missy is fixing our dinner and I have to set the table now. Everything smells so good!!

Better also make this a short post then and say that I will see you all tomorrow. Have a great evening and stay safe! :)

Momma Bunny, I think you need a new Caddy with all those collision avoidance bells and whistles. I’m glad your doctor visit went well!
Believe it or not for dinner tonight I made roasted red pepper soup to go with some of my homemade cheese and onion bread. Toasted of course!

Good evening!

Kathie, if I still had a wheel barrow I probably would have had the rocks delivered instead of buying bags...but I don't....and it wasn't worth the hassle of renting one...and before you ask..YES...I checked with my friends first to ask if any of them had one...

Lee, your dinner sounds simple &
delicious... a few weeks ago my sister Barb made pork chops in the crock pot with a roasted red pepper sauce...it was quite good & I never thought I'd be a fan of roasted peppers..

Pat, glad to hear the bone test went well....and even better to hear you made it home safe....I swear it's getting crazier & crazier on the roads anymore....half the time people are on their stupid phones instead of paying attention to their driving!

Dave, hope you didn't over do it on the weed pulling today...before long you won't need to worry about pulling weeds...you'll be raking leaves & blowing snow before you know it....and I for one am ready for fall...it's just been Hotter than heck this year...or I'm just getting old...

Got the front & back yard mowed at Jane's today....usually I only do one or the other but I wanted to see if I could do both in 1 day without being to tired after...it wasn't to bad doing both...and I took breaks and drank lots of water....the back only needs mowed about once a month anyhow....spent a little time in the pool...then came home & put down the last 6 bags of rock...it looks pretty nice now that it's done....
Tomorrow I have a couple small things to do at Barb's then I'm making a Sam's Club run...not doing a ride around buggy again cause I want to get in & get out....I look at to much stuff if I'm sitting comfy...now it's time to get comfy & probably have an early night...

Pat the day got away on me.
Glad you avoided the accidents. Whew!

Speaking of accidents our young next door neighbor just got a brand new Nissian- Jolt on Friday or Saturday and pulled into the driveway today and it had a huge SMASH and Rip mark on the right hand side lower door. Both doors need to be replaced. SO SAD. Her brother told Art that it happened at where she works and nobody stopped to admit they hit her car. They are reviewing security cameras to see if it shows up on them. This girl is 20 or 21 yrs old and just a sweetheart.

We had delicious Oven Roasted cut up chicken that I seasoned and let cook. Then I added BBQ sauce and turned on the Convection oven feature for about 10 mins on the oven. YUMMY!
I made Serbian Potato Salad from our very own garden potatoes. It’s a vinegar and oil and salt & pepper with thinly slices cooked potatoes and thinly sliced sweet onions and a half of a green pepper chopped in small chunks. It was soooo good!
I did get a 1 mile bike ride in today. Art added air to my tires and I biked to the next subdivision where the 2 lakes are by the road. It felt good to go that far. It was hot, but the humidity was lower than yesterday. Knee didn’t give me any trouble so far! Time will tell tonight when I get in bed!

Jill’s Godparents just got back from spending a week on Georgian Bay in Canada. They said they went over by Sarnia and had all the proper paperwork with them and had gotten the Covid test 72 hrs before departure and it went smoothly. They were hauling a 27ft boat that their son trailered over from Chicago to their house here in Michigan. Then they all went on the LONG drive ti a AirBnB house rental on the G. Bay. They had a dock for the boat and said if you didn’t have a boat to go around the BIG bay you would be trapped. There isn’t a shoreline road going around the bay.
Anyways some of the pictures they took of various homes were on individual islands. Access by boat only. Now that would BE PRIVATE ENOUGH FOR ME! Ha ha.
1629762166073.jpeg

It has cooled down by 8 degrees here lately. Actually nice out there. Tomorrow another HOT 90’s day.

Karen…how’s those pebbles coming along. It reminds me of when you did the French Drain at the other house! I think you have a thing for stones, gravel, tiles, etc.
Karen JUST MISSED YOU. SAW YOUR POST. GLAD THE STONES ARE DONE. GET SOME REST.

Morning!

It should drop a bit later, but at the moment the humidity level is over 95 %. DANG!

They say that once you get that 1st scratch on a car you don't worry about scratches so much. Your young neighbor isn't going to have to worry about scratches for a LONG time, K2. Loved the pictures. If I understand it right, everything that goes to or is taken from the Air B&B house is by using a boat.

With this heat and humidity it was a good choice to go out mowing early yesterday, Lee. Hot soup on a scorcher of a day? Bet you didn't eat it outside.

I don't understand this one BB. Why would your pulmonologist want the results from your bone density test? Isn't that a lung doctor?

"Dave, hope you didn't over do it on the weed pulling today." I sure didn't, KC. And that's because I didn't do any weed pulling yesterday. Instead I went down in the basement and got on the treadmill, surrounded by cool conditioned-air. Glad that all those rocks and pebbles have been put down.

Today.......Maybe another short run at those weeds.

Now that the Pfizer vaccine has gotten full approval from the FDA there might me a bit of an increase in people willing to get the shot. But one doctor said not to expect a giant increase, because many of those that said they weren't getting vaccinated until it was fully approved and not just an emergency approval, will just come up with another excuse for not getting the shot.

I just don't get this hesitancy.

Good Morning GIF
GOOD TUESDAY MORNING ALL!
LEE this is the best I could do for Pancakes for you. LOL

DAVE: Good for you getting on the Treadmill. It's either do that or end up not walking around at all. I'd take the TREADMILL as first choice!
Yes DAVE, if you don't have a boat for some of these home rentals in and around Georgian Bay you don't get there. Jill's Godparents said they knew all about bringing food etc, and stocked up before launching the boat at the boat ramp. They said there were stores here and there along the shoreline when you needed supplies. Also, lots of RESTUARANTS where you pull up your boat and get out and go and eat. This group DOES NOT DO MUCH IN HOUSE COOKING, so I'm sure they had looked into that before they booked the place. Plan and simple you have to have a boat to enjoy that kind of vacation.

So today it's going to be another HOT HOT HOT day in PURE MICHIGAN!
Art's out there with his buddy's biking in this heat. God bless the man for being able to handle the heat. Only way I can do that is by being next to a nice swimming pool or open water! Damn I miss having been by the water this past year and half. Of course, right now, the water by Sarasota, Longboat Key, Anna Maria Island, Tampa, etc is just getting over RED TIDE. A really bad season of it. Dead fish all over the shorelines. Like 15 Ton removed from on Beach area earlier last month. Hard to breath and if you went in the green water you had to be nuts.
We were down in Florida one year and experienced RED TIDE. It was NASTY. Fortunately, it didn't last as long as it has this year. Lots of people had to leave their rentals because they just couldn't handle the smell.

DAVE: I have a good idea why Pat's pulmonologist wants that Bone density scan, but I'll wait and see what Pat has to say about it. ;)

Karen:
Hope you have a quick in and out at SAM's Club. Going to those Big Box stores during the week is so much less crowded. Hope you can get some good pool time!

Lee: How has that AFib been doing lately? Have you worn your new T-Shirt to the Cardio Rehab yet? It sure was a nice shirt.

I'm out of here for now. I still have my little pillow to put together and then I don't know what I'll be doing. Don't feel like washing the kitchen floor that needs it. Might try to get another mile in on the bike before it gets much HOTTER outside. That's just a MAYBE since I haven't opened up the door to see just what the humidity is outside. Last night it went down really fast.

Take care folks and ..............come back with some good stories.

Good morning, everyone! Another hot day here ... so what else is new?!!

Dave - The reason I had to have the bone density test that my pulmonologist ordered was because he has me on a low dose of prednisone every day. If your bones are not strong enough, the prednisone will weaken them further and possibly lead to broken hips and other broken bones due to osteoporosis. I see him again on Thursday and hopefully, they will have gotten the results to him by then. If my bones are still dense enough, he said he'd be able to up the dose of prednisone a little. Taking the prednisone has really helped. Friends have told me how much better i look than just a month ago. This is from the retired doctor and his wife. We don't see them that often, so they were able to tell the difference.

Karen - Good for you getting all those stones down. That was a lot of work. I'm glad it looks the way you wanted it to. I still say you need to learn how to REALLY relax and not just for a little while while you plan another project. Glad you at least got to go in the pool yesterday. It's cloudy here this morning, but really isn't calling for much rain, if at all. Still going to be very hot again, so keep cool.

Lee - Your dinner last night sounded so good. I too like to have soup once in a while even during the summer. It's no different than sitting outside having a cup of coffee on a hot summer day. I did make chicken noodle soup for Bert & I once day for lunch a couple of weeks ago.

Kathie - You dinner sounded good too. Your potato salad sounds different. Is it served hot or cold? I am a potato salad traditionalist. Give me with mayo, hard boiled eggs, carrots, and potatoes and I'm happy. I really don't like German potato salad which is usually served warm.
That was a neat house to rent. Good thing they had a boat available to get out to some shoreside restaurants. I don't know if I ever told you that boaters on Lake Toho can tie up outside of the Grille and come in to eat there. They've been welcome for years now and buy a lot of food and drinks.

Our dinner last night was so delicious! Missy did a great job on the Zwiebelkuchen and the butter kuchen, half of which had peaches on it. Her Oma would have been proud of her!

fantastic GIF
KUDO's to Missy on a really good looking dinner. YUM! Please tell her she can cook for me anytime!

The Serbian Potato Salad is served cold or at room temp. It doesn't have anything that would spoil and travels well for picnics.

Pat it's good that the pulmonologist is being so careful with watching your bone density. Too much Prednisone and like you said your bones get brittle and the chances of a broken hip increase if you fall. Maybe he'll be able to decrease the dose instead of increasing it.

Time for a noon time glass of Tea. Just love that Y'all Sweet Tea I ordered from down South. Jill & Ash are hooked on it too.

Later gang.

And just like that we are registered for The Disney Princess 5K on February 25, 2022. Registration opened at 10:00 am but I recalled that the virtual line started about 9:45. So, after walking the pups by the river, cutting the front lawn and having breakfast I poured a nice coffee and plunked by butt at the computer. I was all registered by about 10:20. That included registering our friends Jim and Gail!
So Karen, after the evening do you still think that it was OK to do both Jane's front and back the same day? I usually don't feel achy until later on or the next day. That, coupled with your impersonation of Fred Flintstone moving all the rocks! I've resigned myself to two days to do our grass. Mostly because the batteries will comfortably to one or the other along with the trimming and blowing.
There are lots of beautiful cottages and some big celebrities summer homes all around Georgian Bay Kathie. I have to say that if I were to go out biking in this heat Lu-Ann would kick my butt! You have to take it easy on your bike too! Thanks for the pancake picture but they just don't compare to your cookies! (Imagine the lines Tony would have come up with after that response!) You know we'll need to see a picture of your "knee pillow". The AFib is all over the ice. The heart and rehab doc say it's within tolerable limits. Of course they do, it's not their heart! The girls at (cardio) rehab say that it's concerning to them and my doc has her concerns. They all reached out to the cardiac guy with their concerns. Like right now it's 96 beats per minute!
Right now it feels like 99F with the humidex but the humidity is an almost bearable 74% Dave. Ya, I'm kind of a weather geek. It simply fascinates me even in an area from say, Ohio to Michigan to Ontario that it can be so very different. And even then it can and often does vary from The Burg to Windsor which is 1/2 and hour north. A good call taking a break from the weeding. And good on you for hitting that treadmill in the cool and comfort of your indoors.
Damn you Missy! Now I have to get out the screen cleaner because I was rubbing my nose on the screen trying to get at those delicious looking dishes! Tell me Pat, were they really as good as if not better than they looked? What a nice morale boost to have folks tell you that you're lookin' good with a simple change to your meds! Often we don't notice slight changes in the ones we live with because we see them all the time. You mention carrots in your potato salad. Our traditional one usually doesn't have carrots. Sounds like the rest of the stuff is the same!
OK, I best be on my way. I see Kathie popped on again while I was pecking away. Enjoy that tea!
You all have a great rest of the day.

Kathi - I'm only on a 5 MG dose of prednisone. I don't think it can go any lower than that. He mentioned that if my bones are ok, he might raise it to 10MG. I guess I'll find out Thursday, if he gets the bone density report before that.

Lee - When I mentioned carrots in the potato salad, I should have said SHREADED carrots. That just gives it a bit more flavor. Actually I am more of a fan of macaroni salad with tuna fish in it. I always eat more of that than the potato salad.
Missy's onion cake was as good as I remembered. I haven't made it in maybe 10 years. That was the last time that Bert's cousins (from Germany) visited us and they loved it. The butterkuchen was delicious. I had forgotten that recipe was in our family cookbook from about 6 years ago. I usually made crumb cake instead.

Tonight's dinner will make the kids happy. Nathan's face lit up when I mentioned "Grandma's Supper" last night. That's his favorite. Just elbow macaroni, chopmeat and 2 cans of diced petite tomatoes. Almost like a sloppy Joe with elbows in it. Sometimes I put corn flake crumbs on top and bake it to make a crispy layer on top, as that's the way Bert likes it.

Now after all that food talk, it's time for me to find something for lunch. I'm getting hungry!

So, Lu-Ann reached into the wine cabinet this afternoon. “Fat bastard” she said. ”Skinny Bitch” I replied. And then the fight started… :emoticon 0140 rofl:

So I went and used some of my Starbucks Stars for a cool beverage.
Took it to a small park right off 24 Mile Rd. It has a nice walking path that goes around a large pond. Lots of Ducks and Pupping Geese getting hand outs. I decided to walk around the path. Well, when you’re out of the shady part of the walk and the direct sun hits you there’s no turning back. I made it! Whew! Got in the car only to see that the temp outside is 99F. Who knows what the REAL FEEL is like.I won’t be doing that again anytime soon.

Lee: Nice come back for that Bastard Wine! Ha ha. Glad you were able to register for the 5K. Now to get into the STATES! :friends:
My blood pressure has been low today. One time 99 and the other 110. Should be at 120-130 normally for me. I give up and just drink a big glass of water and hope that helps!

BB: Our dentist gave Art 4mg pack of Prednisone for his swollen molar. It’s one of those that you decrease the dose everyday to slowly ween off of the stuff. 1 week dose. If his tooth starts to pain him again he has a prescription for a specialist to either pull it. It’s the last one in the back. TIME WILL TELL!

I just got asked to be on a committee of “2” to furnish our new priests family home that the church is leasing for him and his family. I told the president if it was up to me we would get the. TWIN beds with a nightstand in the middle to make sure they don’t have anymore babies. They have 3 under 5 yrs old.
Thank goodness the church board found a house to lease and NOT BUY. That way if they want something better they can move on their own. We are always too generous to our clergy.

Dang the thermometer says 100F now. Crazy temps. Take care everyone.

Good evening...

Lee, I hope you aren't sporting a black eye or fat lip after the Skinny Bitch remark...:) and yes...doing the front& back at Jane's was ok...I took breaks thru out the job...also took an Aleve before I started & 1 when I went to bed....not any more aches & pains than I usually wake up with...
Glad you were able to get registered for the Disney Race

Pat, your dinner pictures look delicious....I looked at a couple receipes for the butterkuchen....may just give it a try & use some of my peaches out of the freezer...
Growing up we called what you are having for dinner tonite "Hungarian goulash" I have no idea why we called it that...but it was good then & I still fix it now & then..and I always make corn bread to eat with it...

Dave, in the long run time on the treadmill was probably more productive than pulling weeds any how...the little buggers just keep coming back no matter how many I pull or how much mulch I put down...

Kathie, good luck on the committee to furnish the priest's house...there may be hope for agreement since there are only 2 of you... your Serbian potato salad sounds pretty good....sometimes I just get tired of the same old salads...

Got the 2 little projects done at Barb's...then headed to home depot to pick up a few paver's to finish off my stone project...
Then headed to Sam's club...managed to get in & out fairly quick and only bought what was on my list...
The pictures for the stone project didn't come out that good but I'll post them & maybe you can at least get an idea of what I was talking about...
Tomorrow is pool day at Jane's...Wendy is joining us for lunch....and other than cleaning house on Friday I really have nothing going on at all...
It's been rumbling here for over an hour...but no rain at all...was hoping since I watered my plants yesterday we'd get some rain...we sure need it!

I didn't get a good before picture....but this is looking towards the back patio area and these are the rocks I got from Jane...the 2nd picture is the finished project....the rocks in the center of the pic are darker because they are wet...the water softner had just recycled before I took the pic...I still have to put a few pieces of sod in the area in front of the paver's.... the grass used to try to spread to that area...and every time it did the lawn crew would spray weed killer on it...now with the new crew it's safe to put down sod...

Looking, as always Karen, like another job well done. A very good idea to put that weed barrier down under the rocks. It does help a lot! I’m happy that you had “no more aches and pains than usual”. I believe it was The Great Master who once said “Aging isn’t for sissies.”
Too hot to take the pups out tonight. It’s still feeling like 108F with the humidex.
You all stay safe my friends!

KAREN: A picture says a thousand words.........It all makes sense now. EXCELLENT JOB. That's a lot of space between the houses. I sure hope your neighbor appreciates all your hard work! :)

Lee: I just got back from going to our grocery store for milk and lettuce and few other simple things. I waited until the sun was down and things CALMED down a tad. It's 89F here right now.
Jill just texted us a picture of the clouds behind her house. YIKES.... it looked like Kansas and Dorothy & Toto! We might see something tonight around midnight according to the weather folks. Bring it on!

Out of here for tonight. Be safe. Did you hear about the new virus.... Havana. Geez where do they come up with these names.
