Karen: Glad you gave the PLEDGE a try. I know that with our new screen the service guy had to do some adjustments of the rollers on the bottom. He used a screwdriver on the sides of the screen to raise it up on one end and down on another. Whatever he did it sure helped out the DRAG when opening it. Same thing on the HEAVY DOORWALL (slider door for you guys). Sure glad I called for service!
Glad you EYE appt went well. Don't wait too long before getting the other eye done. You don't want your CORRECTED EYE to get use to doing most of the work! Always a PLUS to have a doctor you like!

It's in the 95's here RIGHT now. CRAZY HEAT and HUMIDITY outside.
So what do I go and make for dinner MEATLOAF! Ha Ha. I don't even like meatloaf and I turned on the oven to bake it. Art likes it and it's been a long time since I made it for him.
We had a fresh garden veggie salad with it. Simple and easy going. We really didn't feel like much more. The heat just from going outside and watering things around the house makes you just want to go easy on dinner.

I was driving by a Starbuck's close to our house today and decided to get a Latte. I tried to order 3 different things and they were OUT OF either the syrups or toppings and couldn't make it. On top of that you had to wait a long time in the drive-thru to get up to the window for your order. Starbuck's is hurting big time on SUPPLIES and EMPLOYEE's. SAD.

So another MALE bites the dust. Cuomo is out in 14 days. I told Art that he did the right thing. He has enough money that he really doesn't need to stay in office. I have no idea if you groped any of those girls or not. I'm thinking they ALL got picked by the GOP to do him in for a price! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile: He's Italian and ethnic and just like SERBS he's very kissy and touchy. If they were Serbian girls they wouldn't think anything of getting a kiss on the CHEEK or a hug. It happens all the time around our church folks. Heck, when Jill and Mark and the kids come over the first thing we do when they walk in the door is give each other a Kiss & Hug. It's just the way we were raised. And before you all get bent out of shape......we DON'T fondle or grop anybody around our church. :D
It still ticks me off that so many of the men have lost their jobs or had to quit their jobs, but good old #45 is still out there FREE & LOOSE!!

I just committed myself to a Saturday BABY SHOWER at one of our hotels about 1/2 hr from our house. I don't have much choice but to go to this event. It's my God Childs sister-in-law and it would be considered rude if I didn't go. Long story to explain. I looked at her registry and let me tell you I won't be buying off of it. $$$$$ I saw that all her Out-of-Town friends wrote nice notes saying they were sorry they couldn't be there. I was going to give her money, but if all these people will most likely will be having their gifts mailed to the house in North Carolina there won't be too many gifts for her to open. Hence, I'll be going to Kohl's or Target or Babies R Us (if they're still in business) to buy some stuff for her.
Can you tell I'm just NOT into these gatherings anymore! Ha ha

Okay, I'm out of here. Want to go down to the garden and see how much the CUKES grew overnight.

A good day to you all. Reading along but just wasn’t up to writing along.
Again yesterday the young gal at (cardio) rehab was concerned with my heart rate. I even got a detention and had to stay after class to see if it would drop, which it did.

I got a Starbucks coffee on the way home Kathie. They weren’t out of coffee, cream or sugar. :D
I started to call the rehab programme nurse practitioner’s admin person, my doctor and the cardiologist. The NP has requested, again, the echo from the cardiologist. We will set up a meeting once she has it. My doctor is going to call me next week. I still haven’t heard from the cardiologist.
Sorry to rag on but this is wearing on both Lu-Ann and I. She too is having trouble getting the cardiologist (a different doc at the same clinic) to respond to her with results from her most recent test.
Back later folks.
As numbers continue to rise everywhere please keep washing your hands and keep your masks handy! As you say Kathie…always something…

Never did find out what was bugging Kathi's tummy but it seems to be getting better. A few days away from painting in the heat and humidity didn't hurt either. Speaking of which, it's not suppose to dry up around here till the weekend.

BB; Put my name on the list of other Bunnies who want to know more about this making of ice cream in a zip-lock bag. On one of the network evening news programs around 6:30 PM yesterday, they actually used the term "DeathSantis".

We got slammed with thunderstorms yesterday like you did K2. The parts of it with high winds and lightening went around us. I agree with you that prescriptions we take can affect our blood pressure and heart rates. And just like a squirrel storing their nuts for winter, you're storing your stuff in the freezer for winter.

It's so nice KC when you can have one of your doctors as someone you are comfortable with and totally trust. That tropical storm heading toward Florida, from what I'm seeing, is suppose to go up the west side of the state and not hit land until it gets to the panhandle.

This heart beat problem you've got Lee would be driving me nuts too. And it sure would help if all your medical people would work together a little bit better.

Guess what flavor Twizzlers come in now? In the mail yesterday, came 2 bags of them that Kathi ordered. Yup, Key Lime Pie. Is this flavor going to be the new Pumpkin Spice?

YUP that's Artie riding his bike! Ha Ha.

Good morning Gang.
Lee: Sure sucks not getting that Echo from the one doctor. Sure hope they get their %$^&* together pretty soon and figure this all out.
And not nice that the same thing is going on with Lu-Ann.
Time to put on BB's "JERSEY" and demand some answers.

Over here, if you get the tests done at the big hospital they put the results on your private portal and you can look at it. Of course, most of us can't figure out what it says, but at least you can let the doctor know the report is done and hopefully they will read it and let me know what's what.
The older I get the more I can't stand the MEDICAL FIELD.

Dave: Good to know that Ms Kathi is feeling better. Still would be nice to know if she has a ulcer or gallbladder issue or just acid reflux? Good that you both took a break from that painting in this EXTREME HEAT and HUMIDITY. Just not worth going out there. You're not getting the BEST SHED of the NEIGHBORHOOD AWARD for the paint job! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

Okay, I'm out of here now to go to the EAST side of town and get my HAIR CUT! Finally!

Have a good day and be safe. Especially you gals in Florida.

Good morning! Lots for me to read this morning and I love it!

Kathie - I think you jinxed us with your Pledge trick. The day you posted it, we started having trouble with our sliding door, so I told Bert your trick. Didn't help as it was making a loud rubbing noise and was very hard to open. He and Jimmy ended up having to take the door off and clean 16 years of gunk off the rollers, as well as remove a pencil like they use playing golf. That had to be there since the doors were installed, as no one here plays golf. When they put it back in, a tiny piece of the rubber on the bottom got folded underneath. Bert spent part of the day yesterday trying to pry the piece out. When he decided to give it up for the day, Jimmy took over. Between the 2 of them the door now slides smoothly and quietly once again!

Anyone else want the ice cream recipe? I'll email it to anyone who would like it. Karen & Dave - You've got mail! Sorry for the black box in the recipe, but I couldn't figure out how to remove it.

Dave - Glad to hear that Kathi is feeling better. While tropical storm Fred won't be making landfall anywhere near us, we will still feel the effects of the storm. We will be on the right side of the storm where rainfall is the heaviest. It's still too soon for them to predict just how much rain we may get, but it will be a couple of inches, for sure.

Karen - Glad you were happy with the eye doctor you went to yesterday. That's so important, especially after what you went through after your first surgery.

Speaking of doctors, Bert's off to get more spots zapped. After he gets home, we'll take a ride with the kids to BJ's. Ran out of time to go yesterday before Bert's meeting. Waiting an extra day is OK. I just added more things for him to get!!

Missy's dinner last night was very good. The fish and shrimp tacos were delicious and the tortilla soup was outstanding. Plus there's enough left for tonight. Tomorrow will be spaghetti with meatballs and sausage.

Time to go check on the kids. They're too quiet and that's always a chance they're getting into trouble. Today is their last day of summer vacation, so I'm trying to think of something special we could do with them this afternoon. See - I can be a good grandmother once in a while!!

Have a great hump day everyone. Stay safe and behave yourselves!! ;)

Good later this morning!
So, guess who cut the whole back lawn today? Lu-Ann? NOPE. Bear? NOPE again. ME!!! It was really nice at 8:00 so I got out the little electric mower and did half the yard. Then we took the pups down to the river for their walk. When we came back I finished it up while Lu-Ann was on the phone trying to get hold of her cardio results.
We can access lab test results within hours here
Kathie. They're not "free" with hospital reports. Have a safe trip to the hair salon. I sure hope that a Starbucks on the way home has all of the stuff they need to make you a foo foo drink!
Could well have been the high heat and humidity that was playing a part in Kathi not feeling up to snuff Dave. My family doctor and the nurse practitioner are doing what they can to get the information from the Windsor Heart Institute. I have a theory that if the girls in the from would stick their phones up their, um, I mean back in their purses and answer the phones, reach out to patients and provide answers to questions things would be a hole lot smoother. It strikes me that Key Lime is becoming the Pumpkin Spice of summer.
Of course, if I had my way damned devices like phones and iPads would be banned from the work place all together!
Yep Momma Bunny. I have Ziplock bags at the ready...I suspect that depending on the size of the bag they would make an ideal serving for one. That was a great picture of Jimmy by the way. What a good sense of humour he must have! Good on him.
Too funny. We both posted at the same time! Yes, I'd be interested in the ice cream recipe please and thank you.
I hope that your days are not too wet Karen. It does, depending on the direction of the rain, give you a chance to sit outside and read a good book while enjoying a glass or two of wine.
OK, so, now do I tackle the front lawn. I am on roll.
You all have a great day!

Lee: We got strong winds and hard rain and then it found it's way out of our yard. Lots of Maple leaf branches in the yard and the neighbor with that huge OLD Willow tree has a lot of dead branches to pick up.
Art is outside right now gathering branches and leaves. We were lucky. Some of the pictures in various areas further from us had SIDEWALKS lifted when huge old trees got knocked down. Some fell on houses and others on garages.

We might get more rain around 10:30 - 11:00 pm tonight.

Be safe folks.

By the way Lee........I did stop at a DIFFERENT Starbucks on the way home and it was worse than the one by us. I ended up a Plain old Carmel syrup Latte. At one point when I was trying to order something I just asked if she would tell me what THEY DID HAVE to make it easier on both of us. Really sad that they're losing money on the fancy drinks because of lack of supplies.
Our Ashley is in "Supply Chain Management". Seems like theirs not much to MANAGE if the companies can't find workers to produce the products. SAD.

By the way I did listen to the future Governor of New York today and I LIKE HER STYLE. She point blank said there will be no "messing around" when she takes over. And there will be lots of STAFF changes in 13 days. She was adamant about saying there is only 1 Governor in office at a time and she doesn't start the job until 13 days from today. I hope she can get re-elected when the time comes.

Try to open this VIDEO and watch all these LAND CRABS in a neighborhood in Stuart, FL.
You'll have to wait for the advertisement to finish before you can see them. UNREAL. Gave me the CREEPS big time.
We get a few crabs that dig holes by Art's creek garden, but only 5-6 holes and you never get to see the crabs out and about. But this video is CRAZY!

Hope you can open it up and watch:

Thanks again for the ice cream recipe and how to make it in a Zip-Lock bag, BB. Now I know how the cold is added to the mixture as people shake the bag.

I'm with you Lee on being frustrated with people whose lives revolve around their cell phone.

K2 and Lee; We too had strong winds and storms roll through our area yesterday. Some local areas got winds peaking between 60 and 80 MPH. No damage here, but many others weren't so lucky. Luckily it passed through here in under an hour. But many tree companies are still going to make a big chunk of change from the storm.

Oh goody, more storms going through here today and tomorrow. Just hope we don't lose power. Super hot and unbelievably humid.

Well it's confirmed; Many Massillon school board official are morons. Let's see here, only half the people in Ohio are vaccinated, Covid infections are skyrocketing and they decided that wearing masks will be optional for students and teachers when school opens up soon. Gee, what could go wrong?

I too like the future New York Governor.

Good morning from Sunny Belleview! We've not had any rain here to speak of for days...that may change this weekend if Fred decides to wander thru...right now I'm not expecting to much from him..

Lee, well are you just the busy gardener! Hope you didn't over do things with all that mowing....and I can't believe you actually expect those poor front desk persons to actually DO their jobs...what a radical thinker you are!!

Pat, thanks for the ice cream recipe....sounds like it will be a fun project for the kids next time...how did the 1st day of school go for your gang? I bet the peace & quiet is wonderful!

Dave, glad you all didn't have any major damage from the storms...it's sure playing with your painting project though...good thing you painted the house side of the shed 1st...

Kathie, sorry you are having so much trouble getting a decent cup of Starbucks coffee...I think I'd just give up & try Dunkin Donuts or McDonalds for a while...yesterday Jane & I had a Mickey D Mocha Iced coffee & it was really good....Jane was buying otherwise I don't think I would have paid $4 for a med. coffee...but I might buy the small for $2....yeah...I'm cheap & proud of it...:)

Well yesterdays roof patch did not go off as planned...I made it to the top of the ladder...but there was no way I could make myself get off the ladder onto a flat, wet, slippery metal roof...just wasn't happening...so now we are looking for a handyman to do the patch & then spread the Cool Seal on the roof...there is a guy in her park who is supposed to do it for $150...Money well spent if he actually shows up to do the work...
Well...I need to get off here & finish up my house work...the plan is to hit my pool this afternoon if it stays nice....enjoy the day & wash those hands & wear that mask!

Good morning, everyone! I am so loving our nice QUIET house this morning!! :emoticon 0102 bigsmile:

Yesterday was one of those rare ones where we didn't get slammed with rain and wind. We did ride through some rain on our way to BJ's, but that lasted for only a few minutes. Coming home the rains had ended and the sky was blue once again.
Sounds like some of you went through a bit of rough weather between the rain and the wind. Severe thunderstorm warnings happen so often here that we just ignore them. We're still following Fred as he meanders over the islands south of Florida. Apparently there is another possible storm behind Fred that they are more worried about right now. We should get about 1-2 inches of rain from the storm, but that can change quickly.

Karen - I know what you mean about everything being so dry. Our sprinklers have not gone on in weeks, but our next door neighbor gets almost an hour of the sprinklers running twice a week. I get so angry every time I see it.

I had planned to make a big pot of meatballs and sausage with spaghetti for tonight, but Jimmy told us that they have a tradition that on the first day of school each year, they have to have pizza. That's fine with me for tonight, but I still have to make the pot of gravy with the tomatoes we grew. We'll just save it for tomorrow night and over the weekend.

Time to once again answer the dryer's call and get another load in there. At least the boarders do their own laundry, thank goodness. We get enough laundry just for Bert & I. Have a good day, no matter what you're doing and I'll try to stop back later. :)

Well the rain decided to play catch up today...we've had a couple rounds of thunder boomers roll thru...the last one was pretty intense...wind was blowing like crazy & rain beating against the window....looking at the radar we may not be finished yet....but for now it's quiet....kind of like here today....where is everybody?

Good afternoon!
I’m here now Karen. Your rain sounds like the rain we had through the night and after a break early this morning. Lots of trees, branches and leaves down in the park. Good for you assessing the roof repair and calling “the guy”.
It sounds like you are already enjoying those peaceful moments at home Pat. I still have to remember that “gravy” isn’t. So, what kind of pizza is on the menu for the back to school special?
Lottsa crabs in that video Kathie. Crabs by your stream in MI? Who knew. There was a girl in my high school that apparently gave some guys the cra…oh, never mind. :emoticon 0140 rofl: Hey, we stopped at Starbucks this morning and they weren’t out of anything we ordered. A tall Pike and a tall Blonde with room. Cream and sugar on the side. Our park and some of the homes heading to LaSalle sounded like they sustained the same kind of damage to trees that you described in areas near you. Is that Ashley’s job in upstate New York?
Ya Dave, I get more frustrated with the amount of time people spend on their phones when they could be, oh, working comes to mind. LaSalle is a semi rural community so there were lots of folks out with chainsaws and axes cutting up and chopping the trees that were downed by the storm here. Tree companies might not get a lot of work. Ontario schools are in the old can we / can’t we and do we / don’t we enforce vaccinations for all staff and students which will have a direct impact on masking policies. Civil Liberties my butt! Let’s get people vaccinated and or masked to try to stem the tide of what they are calling the fourth wave here. How is Kathi feeling today?
I had a virtual heart health nutrition class this afternoon. Most of it reinforced what we are already doing with food, snacks and so on. Not that I do, well except maybe in FL, but it’s nice to know I can have two - six ounce glasses of wine a day and three - ten ounce coffees. A lot of conflicting information in the session though which even the dietician acknowledged.
Time to let the beasts out before their dinner. And time to start prepping ours. So many veggies. So little time. ;)
Here’s hoping that you are all having a dandy Thursday. If you’re the least bit superstitious you’re going to hate tomorrow. It’s Friday the Thirteenth!
Be good everyone.

Hi Karen..... I was grocery shopping. And sometimes I just take too long even with a LIST.
Then I treated myself to a Culver Strawberry Shake. 1/2 off until 5pm! Love theirs because they put in lots of Strawberries!
Well, you did say it was getting DRY in your area. Ha Ha. Now it's just nice and wet. Join the rest of us with all this water lately.

Pat: Why does it get you angry that your neighbor is watering his grass? Just wondering?

By the way, as soon as I use up my Starbuck Stars I'm taking a break from them. Just not worth going there for a silly coffee made with flavoring syrup that I already have at home. I actually like TIM's coffee and lord knows we have enough of them right here on 23 Mile Road.

We're getting a new Savvy hamburger joint that is taking over for a defunct quick pizza place that went under. Should be interesting to see how it compares to White Castle (that is also on 23 Mile Rd. You name it HAVE IT on 23 Mile Rd. All within 1-2 miles from our house. Crazy area.
Well I just did a google on the place and it's no where near like a White Castle. Cheapest thing seems to be $9.99. Upscale hamburgers. Good luck with that. I can go and inside a restaurant and get a good hamburger for less than that! We'll see how long they last. I think it's a new chain. I saw one opening up on Hall Rd across from Partridge Creek. (Lee will know where that is) LOL

I sprayed off the deck early this morning from all the leaves and spruce tree buds. Looked a mess. We got the backyard cleaned up last night so if our lawn man makes it by today he doesn't have to worry about picking up branches, leaves, cones , etc.

Man is it HOT outside. And HUMID. They said our heat index should go to 100F today.

I need to go and get my bills in order so I can come onto this big screen monitor and pay them. ALWAYS SOMETHING to pay!

Hope you are all having a good day. Be back later.

Lee you asked about Ashley being in upstate New York!
She did not take that first job offer. Jill & Ash drove there to check out apartments and there really wasn’t much of anything available. Someone suggested she look into getting a ROOM in somebody’s house. Ha ha. At that point they turned around and came home. Ash thought about what she would do and finally, thank the LORD, she called the
H R office and told them she wouldn’t be taking up their offer after all. Also told them WHY—-no decent housing for a girl coming all the way from Michigan. We were all thrilled. She then found another job in her major, Supply Chain Mgmt, with the PENSKE CO. Right now she works out of home!
The company did have her TEAM get together last week in person at a really nice local inside BOCCI BALL court. She said it was nice to actually see them in person instead only on her computer screen and socialize. She likes it so far. And I’m sure she likes having a PAYCHECK TOO!
Sorry that was so long!

I’m watching a baseball game at the field where FIELD OC DREAMS MOVIE was made. They built a complete stadium after the movie was done and NY and Red Sox’s are playing a game there. The Pre-Show was really interesting. It’s in Iowa right in a CORN FIELD. A REALLY NICE CORN FIELD.
