We're going on the Summit April 30th - Western Caribbean and have booked a few tours through agents not affilliated with the ship. Can we bring ship beach towels ashore with us?

Fee is just under $30 per towel..not sure if that's horribly severe, but anyway best not to lose them. .they're pretty nice ones that have Celebrity clearly written on them.

They are in your room when you arrive and when you bring them back from the beach your room steward will replace them. We also received in our closet a very nice roomy beach bag which was ours to keep. Nice idea!

Also supplied are bathrobes for your use - but take them home or lose them aboard the ship and you will be charged.

Take the cruiseships towels ashore with you and you are easily marked as a "Tourist" for any locals inclined to have an need for that information. Think personal saftey. No need to be paranoid ..just be careful .......

Here is another thought on beach towels to take ashore. Go to the pool area and pick up a couple of the pool towels. They are similar in size and weight to the beach towels left your in your cabin. Two main differences-- they don't say "Celebrity" and you are not charged $28 if someone steals one. When you return to the ship, take the towels back to the pool area and toss them in the hamper at the pool.
The pool towels are very nice but I don't think they would be taken as quickly as the towel left in your room. The pool towels have all been laundered many times and don't shout out "new."
Celebrity does not put their name on anything they feel would make a good "free" souveneir. Just imaginge, they would have a trailer truck at dockside each cruise filled with new linens if they put "Celebrity" on the towels. This would replace the trailer truck full of towels leaving the ship in passenger luggage.
I would not dream of leaving a towel at the beach or being more careless with it just because it doesn't belong to me. But, I would be less irritated if someone stole a towel that belonged to the cruise line.

We almost left two Celebrity beach towels in Barbados. My hubby left our beach bag next to the phone booth by the beach. We had the cab turn right around and go back for them! It is good they make you pay a fee if you loose them. I don't think we would have gone back if they didn't. I was worried we would miss the ship!
