The roaming Aussie
Milford Sound. WOW. Photos don't do it justice.
We were supposed to sail into 3 fiords, Dusky Sound, Doubtful Sound and Milford Sound, but the weather was bad and sea was rough so the first two were missed.
By some stroke of luck we were able to get into Milford Sound. I had seen photos prior to this cruise showing it all sunny and blue water. We had misty grey skies and light rain; it was so atmospheric, almost eerie. You have to be there to experience the grand scale of the place.
When we sailed out into the Tasman Sea, the weather worsened; we had 30 foot waves and gale force winds for the next couple of days until we reached Australia; it was like being on a giant see-saw! What a ride!
Before entering Milford Sound. View from Crows Nest. Rum and coke was useful.
Inside Milford Sound.
Those boats were bigger than they appear in the photo; shows the grandeur of Milford Sound.
