Our Carnival Pride Repo Journeys Cruise (with pics) - 2/26/17

We are approaching the area where the new bridge is being built…..

As the sun sets, the Carnival Pride makes it out of the canal, past the breakwater, and out into the Caribbean Sea.

Once past the breakwater, the ship began to rock and roll pretty good, making it hard to walk in a straight line. It would be like that until we reached Aruba.

We hung out in the cabin until it was time for dinner. Here are tonight’s menus…..

We both had an order of shrimp cocktail…..

For her main, Patti tried and liked the flat iron steak…..

I had the chicken chow mein and something that I had never had before, grilled barramundi. It was pretty good…..

I had the banana cream pie parfait and a banana split…..

Tonight in the Taj Mahal was the comedy and juggling of Side Show Bert. There are no comedy shows in the Butterflies Lounge tonight, but the Carnival Quest will be held there at 10:45.

Patti and I head to the casino for a while before calling it a night. Here are tonight’s turndown service and towel animal……

We both received a Panama Canal Transit Certificate……

Saturday,March 4th - Sea Day # 3.

Here are today’s Fun Times…..

We awoke at 7:30am. It was a partly sunny day and the seas were pretty choppy, which explained why we were rocking and rolling so much……

At 8:30am we made our way down to the Normandie Restaurant for the Sea Day Brunch. We figured that with the seas so rough there wouldn’t be many people there, but boy were we wrong. The line was fairly long, but it was moving quickly. I had forgotten that with so many veteran cruisers aboard, a little rocking and rolling wouldn’t deter anybody!

We used our free drink coupons today. I had a screwdriver, while Patti ordered a Malibu bay breeze. We each had some breakfast cake…..

I had my usual ranchos hueveros with a side order of corned beef hash…..

Patti had a cheddar and tomato omelet with a side order od turkey bacon…..

After the brunch, Patti went to the 10am Bingo session, while I made my way up to the Red Frog Rum Bar to see Winston, and get my Thirsty Frog Red fix. I had taken the camera, and got some shots along the way. Here’s the stairway up to David’s Steakhouse…..

The Apollo Pool is empty but the hot tub is in use…..

There are plenty of people out here on the Lido soaking up the sun…..

After hanging out with Winston for a while, I made my way down to the casino for the blackjack tournament. I entered twice, but could not make enough to make it to the final table.

Patti went to the afternoon session of Bingo but couldn’t cash in. Afterwards she walked around taking some pictures of the artwork in the staircases…..

We both made it to today’s session of LCR, where once again I gave away the winning dollar! Lol. We grabbed a bite to eat at the deli before heading back to the cabin. We found that we had some treats waiting for us…..

Tonight was the second Elegant Night of the cruise. On our way out the door we bumped into two of our room stewards Rosario and Inyoman…..

Here we area t the American Feast. It was the only time all cruise that we let them take our picture in the MDR. Lol……..

Sunday,March 5th - Oranjestad, Aruba ( 8am - 8pm ).

Here are today’s Fun Times……

We awoke a little bit before 7am, just as we were pulling into the port of Oranjestad, Aruba. It was mostly sunny and quite warm. Here is a view of the terminal buildings from our balcony. The Costa Magica is docked behind us out of view……

In the distance we can see the M/V Freewinds. This vessel is owned by the Church of Scientology and is surrounded by controversy. I’ll say no more, you can look it up……

There were “Welcome” signs everywhere…..

The taxi stand is right outside the terminal doors. Here are the rates. It would cost us $14 plus tip to get to the Barcelo…..

In no time at all we were on our way, and as we left the port area we got a closer look at the Freewind and the Costa Magica…..

It took us about 15 minutes to reach the Barcelo Aruba. We checked in at the main desk and received our wrist bands. The Lobby area was beautiful…..

Here are our first views of the grounds of the Barcelo Aruba……

Thank goodness that there were plenty of signs giving directions. This way to the beach…..

On the way to the beach we passed the main pool and pool bar, which at this time, were not very busy…..

This is The Beach Club Restaurant. This venue was included in our day pass…..

Once on the beach, we set up in the shade. The first three loungers were ours…..
