Norwegian Dawn & Cell phones

I'm leaving on NCL Dawn Oct. 3 and was curious if cell phones work on the way down? I'm assuming you can use them while docked in Port Canaveral and Miami with no extra roaming charges (I use verizon). What about in the bahamas? I'm leaving home a new guy I am dating and I might want to call him once in a while. Any info on cell phones would be greatly appreiciated. TIA.

Your cell phone will not work when you are out at sea, but it will work in Port Canaveral and Miami and you will be in the Verizon service area. As for Nassau, I did have service, but the company was one I never heard of; I didn't want to try calling anyone without knowing what the charges would be. As for the private island, it will not work.
