My mother has gone to be with her maker. After a long battle with dementia, blindness and other ailments she passed away on Thursday December 29, 2011 at 9:00am at the age of 90 years. She didn't have a blood pressure that was obtainable on the bp machine for around 32 hours! I cannot understand how she hung on but she was obviously a tough cookie! I posted about her when her ordeal really started and really appreciated everyone's thoughts and prayers.

Ellen, I'm so sorry for your loss, and there really are no words to express how we feel when we lose a parent. Even though we know they won't be around forever, it leaves a tremendous hole in our heart when they're gone.

Thanks everyone, she did live a long life and touched many people. My dad died almost 22 years ago so at least now she is back with him!

Ellen, I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my mother in 2000 to Alzhiemer's disease, stroke and heart problems. Like your mom she fought going for a long time at the end. It's never easy saying goodbye but I know I didn't want her to suffer anymore. I sure miss my mom though. When you lose them to a disease like that it's like losing them twice. I lost my mom mentally for quite a few years then had to lose her again physically. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Ellen - please accept my heartfelt condolences. May your Mother rest in peace, and may God comfort you in your loss. I saw a reference to her passing in Maw's Ramble, and replied there. This is the first I've been to Safe Harbor.

The recent years have not been very kind to you - I am so sorry. May the New Year bring happiness to you.
