Good morning to most, good afternoon to many.
We are back from our Alaska cruise... arrived home just before midnight last night. The trip was glorious! We had great weather in Juneau and Skagway (rare this summer, we were told), and while it was raining in Ketchikan, the sun was out in Misty Fjords. The ship, HAL Ryndam, was fabulous. This is the perfect size ship for me, and the service was superb. I'll write a review at some point... right now, I'm playing catch-up on the boards and on the home front. I've taken today off, and will return to work tomorrow, although I've already looked at my e-mail.
We did have a couple of mishaps on our way to and from the ship, one frustrating, one funny. Last week, the first leg of our flight was cancelled. We had boarded the plane in Boston, and sat there for about an hour before it was cancelled. We were given no direction by the crew or anyone in the airport as to what to do, so I called United, was rebooked on new flights, and given instructions as to how to proceed. I'll make a separate post on this in the Cruise Q&A section. Now, on the way off the ship... after years of dispensing advice to cruisers, guess who made a big boo-boo that last evening? If you guessed me, you're right! I forgot to set aside one very important item of clothing for disembarkation morning. Thankfully, PizzaBoy has been growing and I have been shrinking, so I was able to borrow an extra we had prepared for him... but I thought the "just in case" would be for him, not me! So, it was a bit uncomfortable on the way home, but we made it.
Maw, I'm off to read your review. Have a great day, all, and prayers continue to those in need.
