Good morning fellow hunters time for this cruise group to get some excitement going not that Corky a d Earl have not been trying to generate some excitment.

Think we need to begin by finding out who has booked and introduce ourselves to those who have not cruised before with us. I will make that another thread .

How many of you have been to Panama before ? Paw and I have never we did have it booked but that was year he fell apart and had to be overhauled so we had to cancel.

What is happening around you?

Mornin maw. Busy here as it IS springtime. :dance Also trying to get some port info posted for both the Jewel and the Westerdam Groups. :thumb

The one thing that I got out of the 2004 P@N@M@ Canal cruise was the immense amount of history involved with this cruise. MANY folks were reading books prior and during this cruise to bring themselves up to speed on a bit of the history around the Canal.

As for me I am pretty sure MOST folks know who I am. :grin I am maws 3rd cousin from WAAAAY Back. :lol Nah folks I am only kidding most likely but if I were to ever jouney back into the geneology track it might just be true. =huh

.

Mornin' Maw and E!!

We are so ready for this cruise, and to answer your question Maw, no - we've never been, but we can't wait to go and to read up on all of the PC and to experience it, too. We are going to do the Ferry excursion and will book it as soon as we can. It is pricey but that is the way we want to do it so I guess we have to pay the piper. :)

Good morning Maw and fellow jewels.
Well, yes.. we did the P@N@M@ cruise on the Coral Princess.
It is one of the most outstanding cruises I have ever done. Now growing up in England, my sis and I are very familiar with locks, they were pretty much over the place. And I have visited sis over the years and seen the Welland Canal. So I did not think that part of the cruise would interest me. I was SO wrong!
First.. the history is so amazing, and I LOVE history, it was one of the things I cot a certificate in when I "graduated" (we did not call it graduating) from school.
Then there were the ports.
They were so interesting. And the best part..... you bought stuff made by hand there. Not the SOS... 'Emeralds are us, linens are us".. and so on :grin Honey bought a lovely wooden place mat thingee.. Jack should take a picture of it and post it here.
They had paintings done on feathers, Lovely carved items, all kinds of things.

Then we came to the canal itself. I loved watching the mules going back and forth.
That cruise did not go all the way through the canal, so we took the all day boat trip that did go all the way through to the Pacific.
It was HOT! although the boat had A/C ask tobyn about going topside :lol we would pace ourselves between inside and outside.
And the whole trip was so interesting. We also did the white water rafting.
I am really looking forward to going again.

Einstein, finding out that you were related to Maw and paw would be a plus in my books.
maw, thank you for doing this.
The one thing about these group cruise boards is keeping the excitement going through the wait.
usually there is plenty to say, as questions are asked and information is posted, but then we hit that slow period.
A thread where we can chat is a great idea. Now we have to find someone on the HAL board who would also like to do this, That one is even further out there :grin

happy =sailor

I have never been to the P@n@m@ canal . Thats about the only place in the Carribean I haven't been to .
I bought my first Digital camera last year. This will be my first cruise using it. for many years I
always use a film camera. My kids told me i live in the past and should come in into the 21th. century.
so I am ready to take lots of pictures on my next couple of cruises.

Yes I did forget to mention my passion for history-if you read the ramble on other page you know I get carried away some days. Genealogy is one of my passions-I think we have actually found our connections with Corky and Denny. Actually with several others of cruise board My Dad's family found their way to Missouri from NC back abt 1830. I have even found a couple of my ancestress were witches -now that is a fun story.

maw.. I will have to send you E's and my family names... I know that my nans sister emigrated to Canada right after the war.. who knows.. I could be related to Jill B :lol

I have always wanted to do this, but I do not even know where or how to start.
