We are going on the Panama Canal cruise 3/25/04 and would like input on independent tours in Limon, Grand Caymans and Ocho Rios. Any specific companys that you can recommend. Thanks, Janice

In Grand Cayman, if you are into snorkeling, look into booking Captain Marvins to Stingray City...they stop there between the times the shore excursions from the ships arrive, and you also stop at a couple of other places to snorkel.
In Limon, I would do some research into what you want to see, then hire a taxi to take you there...negotiate the price before hand. All Costa Ricans speak english very well - they are taught in English half of every day in school.
Ocho Rios - I stayed on board and enjoyed the day!

My husband and I are also going on the Island Princess 3/25/04. In Ocho Rios there is a man named Peat Taylor who is highly recommended for private tours. A group of us have already booked with him.
In Cost Rica there is a man named Oscar Brown who does private tours. He is also very highly recommended and a group of us are booked with him.
In Grand Cayman there is Captain Marvins and Nativeway who do tours. We booked with Captain Marvins when we were in Grand Cayman last year and were very satisfied.

We're doing Capt. Bryan's Stingray City Tour this time. We went with Capt. Marvin last time and although we had a terrific time, I prefer to sail on quiet catamarans. Give Capt. Bryan a call or drop them an e-mail. They have a very professional reservation system and are prompt about returning e-mail.
